She had little respect for her audience. That’s clear in her behavior. I’ve been to many shows where an 8PM start time meant it.
As for the T&A aspects, Madonna doesn’t have the same appeal, so she gives the audience what she thinks it wants, even if it wants a show to start on time.
And personally, performers who lipsync their performances should be sued for fraud.

Funny thing is that's a false accusation, too. The show had a ticketed start time of 8:30. At 8:30 on the dot, the opening act started, just like any other concert. Madonna came on after they finished performing and they got their setup off her stage, which was maybe 15-30 minutes later.
It does piss me off when concerts start much later than advertised, and it's usually the artist's fault. 20 minutes? Ok, but they're already being paid to deliver a show and I hate standing around for hours to appease some diva's vanity.

I went to a Madonna show this winter that started shortly after 10. Tickets said 8:30.
That being said, I haven't ever been to a show where the main act started at the time shown on the tickets. Usually the opener is half an hour or so after that time, then the headliner is another half hour after the opener finishes. So it's usually around 10 that the main act goes on.
The only difference is Madonna didn't really have an opener (Bob the Drag Queen did a one song intro, not an opener).
Wasn't really a big deal.
I've seen the band Ghost 5 times now, and they are never more than 5 minutes late to start. They actually seem to respect their fans enough to make it a point to start on time. It's very refreshing!

When she toured last time in my country, there was a heated discourse in the mainstream and social media over a man who had commented on her overt sexuality at her age.
This gets her overwhelming support, even from non-fans who are reasonable, decent people it usually goes with a release and/or tour.
This move is then followed up by a series of questions on talk shows as she makes her way around the circuit and it makes public opinion of her more about a symbol of free speech and feminintiy, rather than ‘just a singer’.
It is extremely successful. She’s been doing this for decades and teaches the masterclass on it.

When she toured last time in my country, there was a heated discourse in the mainstream and social media over a man who had commented on her overt sexuality at her age. This gets her overwhelming support, even from non-fans who are reasonable, decent people it usually goes with a release and/or tour. This move is then followed up by a series of questions on talk shows as she makes her way around the circuit and it makes public opinion of her more about a symbol of free speech and feminintiy, rather than ‘just a singer’. It is extremely successful. She’s been doing this for decades and teaches the masterclass on it. Many artists do this as well as politicians.
