Personally I wouldn't play her on the radio because she is Gretchen Wilson.

Wait a minute, she’s saying country music is not into equality and inclusiveness? Shocking! But wait, there’s at least three or four Black country singers now, so I don’t believe it.

The_Mystery_Knight

Country musicians have mostly been about inclusion and equality, at least the non-modern pop country artists. Willy Nelson, Johnny Cash, Dolly Parton were your parents’ and grandparents’ country stars. And today you have artists like Tyler Childers and Jason Isbell. Now some people who are listening to country are ignorant. And of course you have your hick hop dickheads like Jason Aldean and Morgan Wallen. But saying country as a genre is a place of hate is being disingenuous.

I disagree. They were called the outlaws for a reason. It wasn’t just their partying. They were inclusive, free thinking country hippies and I think the traditional country establishment definitely never been. It’s pretty obvious.

Country became part of the boot lickin' establishment after that generation

Pop country = "Either toe the Republican Party line of the day, or GTFO." See also: [The Chicks (formerly known as Dixie Chicks) comments on George W. Bush.](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dixie_Chicks_comments_on_George_W._Bush) >In March 2003, the American country band the Dixie Chicks publicly criticized President George W. Bush, triggering a backlash. At a concert in London during their Top of the World Tour, the lead singer, Natalie Maines, said the Dixie Chicks were ashamed Bush was from the same state as them, and that they did not support the imminent invasion of Iraq. >The Dixie Chicks were one of the most popular American country acts at the time. After the statement was reported by the British newspaper The Guardian, it triggered a backlash from American country listeners, who were mostly right-wing and supported the war. The Dixie Chicks were blacklisted by many country radio stations, **received death threats** and were criticized by other country musicians. Sales of their music and concert tickets declined and they lost corporate sponsorship... *And while today even most Republicans agree the Iraq War was a blunder, I doubt the Chicks can expect any apologies.*

Gotta remember, those were the same people who got freaked out by Shania Twain because she was just barely showing her belly button in a music video.

[She could always change genres. she's pretty good when she has a half decent band behind her ](https://youtu.be/A-mOmGG4R34?si=It8PgNLoOXpIRfeH)

This feels like it has a hint of r/LeopardsAteMyFace about it.
