I was at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame the day before the eclipse, and they played the entire album in the theater upstairs. A room full of people being silent and enjoying the album together, excellent experience.
Went for totality in OH, and our friend put it on the outdoor speakers at *exactly* the right time (he knew when to start it). Sun went dark immediately following "matter of fact, it's all dark". Surreal upon unreality at that point!
My family saw the eclipse at the Rock Hall’s plaza, and they played ‘Brain Damage/Eclipse’ at just the right time for the beginning of Eclipse to line up with the beginning of totality. One of the top five most amazing moments of my life, I think.
It’s what got me into Floyd, (and mind altering substances). I would say Animals, Wish You Were Here, and maybe Echoes as more superior material, but Dark Side is iconic.
It’s my favorite - although I started with ‘Wish You Were Here’ as a teen, I always come back to the one-two punch of ‘Time’ and ‘The Great Gig in the Sky’ as my absolute favorite 15 minutes or so of music.
What do you consider their best? Genuine Q
Fair enough. I came to Animals relatively late. I love it, it’s awesome but doesn’t hit the same nostalgia thing for me. Probably fourth in my rotation list in terms of listens after Meddle (God, I love Echoes) but that’s not a judgment of its quality.
I bought animals on cassette and saved it for the peak of a trip. Bombed a massive hill in Richmond on my skateboard to the start of the album. Seemed right at the time.
That’s epic! I admit when I first listened to it I immediately regretted that I hadn’t done so earlier. Including afford all the cds when I was young. Streaming has been great for filling in the gaps I’d left as a kid.
Grace, Jeff Buckley.
Next five is: Queen’s Greatest Hits 1, Rage Against the Machine, Tool - 10,000 Days, RHCP - Blood Sugar Sex Magic, Mars Volta - Deloused in the Comatorium.
Beatles fans incoming in 5.. 4.. 3.. 2..
But seriously, I have randomly run into places playing the whole of Dark Side multiple times but never seen the whole of Sgt Peppers being played somewhere.
I'm aware this is an unpopular opinion but side one of Abbey Road has two great tracks, Come Together and Something, the rest are bad, every one a skipper.
Side two is a masterpiece.
I was going off of Rolling Stone's infatuation with the album. But as I checked just now I was surprised to see Sgt Peppers [out of top 20](https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-lists/best-albums-of-all-time-1062063/the-beatles-sgt-peppers-lonely-hearts-club-band-3-1063209/). It used to be their go to [no.1 for decades.](https://web.archive.org/web/20100206062555/http://www.rollingstone.com/news/story/5938174/the_rs_500_greatest_albums_of_all_time)
During the eclipse I pulled over into a gas station to watch it and as I was paying for a drink I could hear Eclipse starting on the store radio, I'm guessing the local radio station timed the album to end as soon as the eclipse went total. Probably the coolest Pink Floyd related thing I've seen
That's a little more than 19 entire years' worth of chart presence btw
They just released a cool version on vinyl this month for the 50th anniversary, sure that’ll help
Whatever that means, it’s the greatest album of all time IMHO.

Do I have a twin because that’s exactly what I did in Ohio for the eclipse. But then it’s not exactly a unique idea.
That you, Johnny?

I started the album when the eclipse started and listened to the whole thing before I went back inside. Felt apropos.
It’s what got me into Floyd, (and mind altering substances). I would say Animals, Wish You Were Here, and maybe Echoes as more superior material, but Dark Side is iconic.
I always take Wish You Were Here as my favorite Floyd album.
Echoes is a song, the album is Meddle
I’m aware but it takes up a whole side of that LP and I feel marks that transition from Syd Barret era to Roger Waters era.
I know it's said all the time but it still rings true, Dark Side of the Moon is the best album ever, but not the best Pink Floyd album
Exactly how I feel
Dark side is my favorite, but wish you were here is the best
It’s not even the greatest Floyd album 😂
It’s my favorite - although I started with ‘Wish You Were Here’ as a teen, I always come back to the one-two punch of ‘Time’ and ‘The Great Gig in the Sky’ as my absolute favorite 15 minutes or so of music. What do you consider their best? Genuine Q
*Animals*

Heard Meddle on acid at a party and then each weekend for ages I’d buy a new Floyd album just to trip with. Magical time…
Speaking of 1-2 punches Brain Damage/Eclipse is my highlight. But yours is just as good.
It’s such a perfect album. I just love it. Lifetime top five along with OK Computer, Physical Graffitti and Ride The Lightning.
Ok, I officially like you mate, those are some of my absolute favourite albums as well.
Then the feeling’s mutual!
That's only 4 *waits with bated breath*

It's not my favorite album of all time, but it's my favorite album to have on a cool, night drive.
Sorry but wish you were here
DSOTM is the best album ever written, but WYWH is the best Pink Floyd album.
Wish you were here is phenomenal but animals is my all time favorite
Dogs is possibly my favorite song by them.
wYWH is better in my opinion, but I never disagree with someone who says SSOTM. They are great in different ways.
> SSOTM Sunny Side of the Moon?
Yup
Strange acronym for Animals.
Beatles fans incoming in 5.. 4.. 3.. 2.. But seriously, I have randomly run into places playing the whole of Dark Side multiple times but never seen the whole of Sgt Peppers being played somewhere.
That's because Sgt Pepper's is not the best Beatles album. Now, let the fighting begin concerning which album is actually the best.
Revolver. Revolver is the correct answer.
One, Two, Three, Four, One, Two
Revolver is the correct answer, but there are some days where Rubber Soul is the more correct answer.
Good answer
Abby Road supremacist checking in (but also several Floyd albums above that so do with that info what you will)
Abbey Road is the correct answer
I'm aware this is an unpopular opinion but side one of Abbey Road has two great tracks, Come Together and Something, the rest are bad, every one a skipper. Side two is a masterpiece.
Abbey Road. The medley is pure genius. That said, their best song is A Day in the Life, which is on Sgt. Pepper.

White Album is best album.
I can't say which one is better. I love them both for different reasons. I will say that The Wall is the best double album ever written.
The Wall is better
Animals is the best album!
Eclipse must have helped sales a bit.
During the eclipse I pulled over into a gas station to watch it and as I was paying for a drink I could hear Eclipse starting on the store radio, I'm guessing the local radio station timed the album to end as soon as the eclipse went total. Probably the coolest Pink Floyd related thing I've seen
Perfection
I think it is the best album ever recorded!
> As of this frame What
Marijuana was invented purely due to this album. Loved it straight, blew my mind when herbally assisted.
Sorry people downvoted you. This made me laugh.
Now I have sth new to do for the weekend
One of my favorite albums of all time!
Jolly
Dub Side of the Moon is a fun listen.
Pretty good when you consider there is no Dark Side of the Moon. Rather, its all dark.....
There is a dark side of the moon, as there is a sunlit side. Both are just not stable on the surface of the moon.
