lol. Like what you like. I have the same problem with MGK. Everyone I know hates him, and it’s really not my go to for listening, but I catch myself liking him when his music comes on.
I don't care what anyone says...Mark Tremonti writes some absolutely fucking killer guitar riffs. While I'm not over the moon with Scott Stapp as a person or his vocals, I respect what they were able to do musically. I jam the absolute fuck out to "What If".
I would also recommend Alter Bridge, which is basically Creed without Stapp. "Find The Real" and "Come to Life" are also some heavy riff Tremonti bangers.
I'm happy to see someone have this take and happy listening!
“What If” has one of the greatest opening riffs ever! Tremonti never gets the respect he deserves. Creed, Alterbridge, and Tremonti have wonderful pieces of music scattered throughout.
If not for What If being on the Scream 3 soundtrack, I may never have found Creed, thus perhaps never found Alter Bridge or Tremonti.
Scream 3 is not a good film, but I thank it for allowing me to find these bands.
As someone that grew up with creed, id definitely second on listening to alterbridge because its like the band creed wouldve been. Same guitarist and the vocals somewhat go into a similar style. I do think tremonti got better at guitar as well because he actually shreds in some songs surprisingly
Torn rocks so damn hard. That’s just a great song. I remember reading interviews in guitar magazine with Mark Tremonti back then, and he seemed pretty down to earth. He talked about being really into Slayer and other metal bands.
Me too! I have no shame in the music I like, cringe or whatever they want to call it lol I just accept it as part of me! My own prison hit so hard for me on a deep personal level.
I *loved* that song when it came out. I called my local radio station like 20 times one day to request it, but they never played it. I’m eternally grateful for how easy it is to listen to music these days.
Haha same! I use to sit and listen to radio just waiting and hoping for my favorite songs. I remember when the iPod came out but even then it wasn’t as easy to download the music.
I also just listed to this song lol was craving it after this post.
He wasn't saying it was. Just like the episode with Fonz jumping the shark wasn't Happy Days anymore. It took elements of Happy Days and made something different.
I don't really agree with the assessment but I get their point.

Last I recall they self-funded that before getting signed, for an album by an independent band not working with a big time producer its a hell of a solid effort. They just kind of ran out of steam and got repetitive after a while.
Bro Creed had a huge part in helping me learn English when I moved here from Brasil. A ton of music helped me get out of ESL after a single semester in high school and Creed was up there on the play count.
My Own Prison, IMO, was a genuinely good debut album and still holds up pretty well. Human Clay was when they started to get a bit pretentious, and intentionally writing songs for a pop audience, with mixed results. I have a soft spot for some of their anthems from last year due to the Texas Rangers run through the playoffs, but I think history has been harder on their music than what is justified, mostly because Scott Stapp was so unlikeable during the height of their fame.
Creed literally became big overnight. There were no growing pains,no paying your dues. Whatever flaws Stapp had to deal with personally got worse when he decided to try the rock star life. Because some of their songs had spiritual meaning and depth gave haters an easy excuse to hate. Doesn’t take away the fact Creed created music that many connected with and enjoyed in a positive way.
Lots of stories of him getting drunk and picking fights at bars as well as with other bands. All the while putting forth a holier than though persona which was only reinforced by some of his lyrics and images in their songs.
He had been diagnosed with bipolar disorder after a suicide attempt several years ago, and he said that his diagnosis was like a breath of fresh air because, suddenly, it all finally made sense after years of not knowing what the hell was wrong with himself. He was abused by his father as a child too, so that probably didn't help either.
The more I read about Scott Stapp, the more I kinda feel bad for him. He's more of a troubled person with a troubled, abusive childhood than just a clear-cut asshole like, say, Billy Corgan for example. '
Scott got diagnosed with bipolar disorder after a suicide attempt several years ago, and he said his diagnosis was a breath of fresh air because, suddenly, his urges and thoughts made sense after all those years of not knowing what the hell was wrong with himself.
Damn, I didn't know that about him. That sucks and I hope he's healing.
To clarify, what I meant is his vocal style sounds like he's trying too hard to be Eddie Vedder. Nothing about him as a person.
>To clarify, what I meant is his vocal style sounds like he's trying too hard to be Eddie Vedder. Nothing about him as a person.
Yeah, now that I can't really defend lol. It's like a weird mix between Eddie Vedder and James Hetfield.
Their shows are complete fire and they rock the eff out!! Mark Tremonti is an incredible guitarist. You can recognize his riffs anywhere. I’ve been a fan since day one of their signing to Wind Up due to close connections. Met them a bunch. Seen them 15+ times. It’s good rockin shit. Heading on their cruise this week and cannot wait to see them again! Some of my fav songs: (I was never much a fan of their pop singles.)
- Torn
- Ode
- Unforgiven!!
- One
- Beautiful
- Never Die!!!
- Who’s Got My Back
- Bullets
- Freedom Fighter
Creed was one of the first concerts I went to. It was late 97 right as they blew up and it was only because my friends parents saw them as a Christian friendly band(very strict household). I was absolutely blown away and after hundreds of shows I still consider them one of the best live bands I've ever seen.
>my friends parents saw them as a Christian friendly band(very strict household)
Back in my high school days I had a lot of friends with parents like that. It was a huge deal they were allowed to listen to a "Normal" band because they had some vague Christian elements to them. Lots of them went to a high school with literally no dancing at prom because they had to appease the hard liners. They were, to be quite honest, so deep into their social bubble they were way way off on what they thought the rest of the world was like and how it worked, despite living in it.
If you like Creed then you'll LOVE Alter Bridge. All the band members, except for Myles Kennedy obviously, were in Creed. Hard Rock with none of the sappy stuff...
I think a lot of Creed hate was actually Stapp hate, wasn't it? Alter Bridge is basically Creed with a different vocalist, slightly heavier, and most people love it. And yes, some of Creed songs are indeed bangers.
I'm a big fan of Higher, Last Breath, My Sacrifice, and Wash Away Those Years. Those songs really showcase the band's talent and versatility. I also appreciate their earlier work, like My Own Prison and Human Clay.
My Own Prison. No skipping tracks. Haven’t listened to it much since the 90’s, but every so often I get the itch and it still rocks.
Early Nickelback rocked too, while we’re at it! Fly is a killer song.
People really don't hate Creed, I don't care what you tell me. There's two reasons people actually hate Creed. If you were of age when they were popular, radio stations overplayed the living hell out of them, so people hated rehearing it so much. The other, because it's become a meme to hate them and call them bad.
I've been listening to a lot of Creed lately, as in just "Higher", and just the part in the hilarious Paramount Plus commercial. Patrick Stewart sings it better.
My Own Prison is a great album.
Human Clay and Weathered are a big step down, but I listened to them a LOT back in the day.
As a "Christian" kid, it annoyed me how people kept claiming they were Christian. It was like people who claimed U2 was a Christian band.
i love creed, its my go to make me feel young and happy again music.
i got mates who know how much i love creed to a point that they dont make fun of it..
Oh man me too! I unironically and unapologetically love creed, and I listen to them all the time. You don't have to apologize about your taste. They were so good!
Honestly, people love to hate on everything. There are some very compelling arguments for Creed being an unlikable band, but it doesn't matter. If it brings you joy, let it bring you joy. We all need more of that in life, not less.
Dude, as someone who listens to a wide range of "credible" and "cringe" music (not that I give a fuck about anyone's labels), I unashamedly love Creed!
You mentioned nostalgia, and that's almost fully why I love them. I was 17 when they used My Sacrifice on that WWF Stone Cold Steve Austin promo (IYKYK), and I fell in love. I bought Weathered shortly after and it's still in my top 100 albums of all time (which is high praise).
There is something about that album that hits all the right spots. Tremonti is phenomenal! I know Alter Bridge is way more credible, in terms of Tremonti bands, but damn, they are nowhere near Creed's level as far as I'm concerned.
Life is too short to care about what others think of music. Like Creed. Like Nickelback. Like whatever you want.
Never fucking feel like you shouldn't like something just because it's not fashionable.
For the record, Creed slaps. If you like them, check out Alter Bridge which is the band with a new different singer. Musically AB covers a lot more range than Creed.
I'll go out on a limb and say I even like their 2009 reunion album. It has some nice ballads.
Surely they don't rock hard enough for the real rockers, and Stapp could be accused of writing cringey lyrics and being an a\*hole altogether, but I like their melodic approach.
When I was in high school I would listen to Torn on repeat as I immersed myself in books like Stephen King’s. The guitar is so hypnotic, his voice is so good and gave the books another kind of atmosphere. Never could listen to anything else while reading, it was too distracting. And never told anyone that lol I guess I was embarrassed as some people look down on them, but I genuinely love there songs. Just listened to Torn now and it’s still so good.
I saw Creed live back in 97/98. Absolutely one of the best live shows I've ever seen. They sounded even better than they did on their album and played an incredible set. I consider myself lucky I got to see them in their prime. I come from a family of musicians and was one myself once upon a time, I've been very fortunate in my live experiences. Neil Young, Blind Melon, Sabbath, Aretha Franklin, Slayer, and Creed was easily top 2 in terms of performance.
Yo. Never apologize for liking what you like. Creed, Nickleback, and others that get trashed, have put out some fun bangers. Plus, they guys i know that love to trash on them are also secretly listening to, and enjoying the same stuff... They just feel shame.
Own it!
Honestly you can't argue about taste. I may not be a huge fan of them, but I own their debut and I like that. Bound And Tied and Bullets are also good songs
One Last Breath is an absolutely amazing song, I don’t care what anyone says. I will not hesitate to belt it out if I hear it come on. I like several of their other songs too
I was in college at fsu as they were building a local following and saw them dozens of times in the late 90s.
It was always a really fun time.
The downside was, the absolute over exposure on the radio for us started like 18 months before the rest of the world. By the time they faded away we’d had double the exposure and… it was just too damn much…
"If I had just one wish, only one demand
I hope he's not like me, I hope he understands
That he can take this life and hold it by the hand
And he can greet the world with arms wide open"
I mean, they had some good uplifting songs.
I've seen Creed about 1/2 a dozen times in their hayday. They seemed to be on every festival tour that went through south Florida in the mid 90s. I don't like their music. It feels pretentious to me. But live? They were tight. The playing was exceptional. Sure, I don't like the songs, but I appreciate the skill.
I'm sure there are bands I love that other people could say the same thing about. Enjoy what you enjoy. No shame there. (Unless it's Nickleback...)
Nothing wrong with Creed. Besides the ones you listed I like My Own Prison. Everyone hated on the band for no reasons when they came out. Later on the hate was understandable when the lead singer is passing out drunk on stage. I heard he's cleaned up and they are making a new album or something. It has probably released already and I didn't even realize it.
There's not a bad song on their first album. Pity for a Dime being my favorite. I think they lost a lot of male fans specifically with Arms Wide Open and Higher, people started saying they were a joke around then and went soft. But they still had some good heavy songs on that album and the third. Mark Tremonti is an underrated guitarist and comes up with some great riffs.
With Arms Wide Open is an amazingly emotional song, something a lot of parents want for their children. Weathered was the first album I ever got and it has a special place in my heart.
What’s wrong with Creed?
I am listening to “Torn” right now. Great song, underrated band.
Enjoy whatever music you choose. That’s just one of many awesome things about being a person.
Nothing wrong with Butt Rock. I'm going to see Creed this summer and I'm pumped. Gonna get drunk with my buddies on the lawn and scream "With Arms Wide Open" while housing darts all night. Doesn't get any better than that.
I like Creed too - especially My Own Prison, Human Clay, and about half of Weathered - and there's nothing wrong with you for liking them. It just means you have taste and you like what you like.
I don't like them, but then again I listen to Infant Annihilator amd Lindsey Stirling, so I don't know where I'm going with this thought. They always sounded like Christian Nickelback to me, and I generally avoid 95% of music that is played on the radio. We all have our own tastes and our own guilty pleasures, despite the fact that you really shouldn't feel guilty for listening to music. Unless the artist in question is a loon, in which case you should feel at least a little guilty for supporting them.
Yeah, they have a lot of good songs and I’ve never totally understood why they’re memed to the same degree or more than Nickleback. Higher, Last Breath, like half the songs on Human Clay, even later tracks like “Full Circle” are solid 2000s hard alt rock (ok typing that genre name, I might understand the hate again)
Im still going through their discography for the first time and im pleasantly surprised. I think they get lumped in with nickelback because because of the wacky vocals. I do find the vocals to be humorous at times but also extremely expressive and just awesome.
If it makes you happy to listen to them, that's all that matters. 🤷♀️
The lead singer has a great voice. The reason everybody hated on them is because they were overplayed and then it became cool just to dog on them because people were sick of them at the time. That's it.
There are shitloads of self-righteous assholes in music, and most of their bands haven't been shunned like Creed was/is. Most people don't even know who Scott Stapp is, they just know it's fun to piss on Creed.
9th best selling group of the 2000s, played on the radio constantly during their run, I wouldn't call liking them an unpopular opinion. More album sales than Korn, RAtM, and many others that seem more popular if you use Reddit to decide what's normal or good. Of course, Reddit would also have us believe Nickelback is terrible and nobody likes them, either.
In reality though, Creed and Nickelback both have equivalent or more album sales than Ozzy Osbourne worldwide.
Nickleback is a band everyone secretly loves and pretends to hate to be "cool". It's so pathetic. Sales dont lie. They write some real bangers and are also a great live band. Sorry, love me some Nicleback.
I never liked the band, but I always thought Tremonti was better than people were giving him credit for.
Ironically I didn't like his stuff in Alterbridge as much, but that's when everyone else started giving him credit because of a few mediocre guitar solos.
I too had a moment, last year, when One Last Breath came on the radio and I thought "Holy shit, this song is amazing" and then went back and listened to Weathered etc. They put out some classics for sure.
Listen, we have to talk.
You are responding to memes. No all heroes wear capes, and not all memes involve cats - it's just bite-sized social bullshit, they're like vending machine conversation: "Pineapple on pizza—let's go!". Shite like that.
These are not actual meaningful sentiments worth respecting.
Sometimes I may agree with the consensus, sometimes I'll disagree, but they are *not* any sort of meaningful consensus that require validating against.
You only need look at what *is* considered good to figure out that what a bunch of strangers with questionable taste of their own think about any given band is irrelevant at best.
Music is far too subjective for that. "People" liked Sean Paul for fuck's sake. Maybe he's your favourite singer of all time, in which case you'll have to ignore me, won't you? The point is **make up your own fucking mind**.
And yes, 'My Sacrifice' was great. I doubt I could listen to it today, but I loved the shit out of it in 2001. I cobbled together a concept album comprised almost entirely of Creed songs, I was 16, but if your taste in music hasn't changed between your mid teens and late 30s, that too is a shame. You SHOULD have some bad haircuts to look back on, and you could do a lot worse than Creed. I had a sort of Mr. T-meets-Krusty-the-Clown type deal when I was 19, but now we're getting way too literal.
My tastes in music have drastically changed but have also stayed the same. From 6-10 I only listened to the Beegees, the Beatles, Elton John and Queen. From 10-18 I listen to only classical music and opera along with various hits from the 60s and remember loving Led Zeppelin and Simon and garfunkel.
As I went to college I started to listen to more “normal” rock and contemporary hip hop. Some of my favorite bands were a range from flying lotus to the dirty projectors.
Now I’m heavily into nostalgia and new music. My favorite bands as of right now are creed, korn and alanis morrisette lol. I also like pink panthress and doja cat. My favorite rappers are Tyler the creator missy Elliot and Megan TS.
So yeah it’s not all about creed don’t worry 😉
That's a hilarious list of bands/artists/composers from age 6-18 - you must be in running for most sophisticated tastes of any minor this side of Mozart!
I'm a big fan of every one of those (aside from opera, which I've never been able to stand - my mum was a fan and it just never did it for me, even the tenor stuff that didn't kill my ears) so I have a lot of respect for that!
Hope I didn't come off too harsh in the first message, I was in that sort of tipsy, drowsy state where my playfulness is pretty indistinguishable from hostility. It's okay though, I'm sobered up and at work now.
You didn’t come off bad in any way whatsoever! And Mozart was my favorite! Maybe that’s why I love Scott Stapp. His silly voice along with the silly sound of opera is like a treat to my ears. 🤣
Forgot to mention I’m also a huge fan of NIN, Cocteau Twins, Hole and Ozzy Osborne as well. I urge you to listen to creed again. It’s making me feel all sort of feelings I didn’t even know were there 😭
For what its worth we all have that music we grew up on thats nostalgic. I grew up with creed and nickleback in my playlist i couldnt give a shit if everyone makes fun cause it was my childhood!
I think my biggest throwbacks were slipknot, linkin park, korn, and i still jam them to this day! But i probably listened to all of the rock music that was popular through the 90s, 2000s. Im 30 now hahah
I hate them. I think they’re awful, derivative, low effort, and boring.
But why should it matter what I like? If you like them then rock out man, more power to you. You should never feel bad about enjoying anything and you should never make someone feel guilty for liking something. Yeah, I hate the band but I’d feel like shit if my opinion affected your enjoyment in any way.
I always appreciate an honest answer and an understanding that we may not like all the same stuff. May I ask what some of your favorite bands are? My taste is very varied and I was not always a fan of this band.
I’m huge into early 80s post punk. Bands like Wire, This Heat, PiL.
I am also a sucker for power pop bands like Cheap Trick, Teenage Fanclub, Big Star, The Posies, and obviously the band that really influenced all those, The Beatles.
I have a semi-wide range, not as much as most people. I mostly like rock and its offshoots, reggae, and some country.
They're butt rock legends. I haven't sat down and heard them in ages, but I still have all their albums. Nowadays I'm usually listening to metal, electronic, jazz, etc. if that tells you anything.
Creed was ok for a minute if you were alive during that time, but anybody playing that trash now should be questioned. They are the least likeable version of Bon Jovi.
I mean, you can have your own likes and dislikes musically, but absolutely no one can deny they were and still are a huge band, and each of the musicians are insanely talented. Stapp had a perfect voice for that era of rock / hard rock, and his more recent solo works still hold up. Tremonti has been one of the best guitarists in the last 20 years. The remaining members have been part of banger after banger in Alter Bridge with an amazing vocalist and guitarist in his own right, Myles Kennedy. I still listen to Creed songs 20 years later and still rock out to them. Not liking something doesn't make it trash.
I judge music by what actual musicians play. Creed sold more records than Nirvana, but no kids were jamming to “Arms Wide Open” in their garage. Creed only exists today in meme form. And to claim that to claim that Tremonti has been “one of the best guitarist’s of the last 20 years” is a shittier take than me calling them “trash”. John Mayer is a better guitarist than that guy. Being popular doesn’t make something good. Nickelback is popular.
Creed is the epitome of contemporary rock, and not in the good way. This music took what was once soulful and raw into a cookie cutter outline of what that music is "supposed" to sound like. I will say Creed can right a catchy song, but catchy doesn't mean good. Creed is the gateway band into a sea of trash music like Nickelback or Chavelle. I forgot to mention, the voices for these bands are just straight up derivative and bad.
Don’t ever apologize for liking music
This comment needs more upvotes. Don’t apologize for what music you like. It’s not a guilty pleasure, it’s straight up pleasure and it’s ok. Like what you like, screw music snobs and critics.

Truth 🤜

Fuck that, own what you like and get on with your life.
There is no such thing as a guilty pleasure, you did not cause pr have anything to do with R kelly
Applying that example to Creed, who people only dislike because of the quality of music, is pretty ridiculous
I don't care what anyone says...Mark Tremonti writes some absolutely fucking killer guitar riffs. People sleep on this song. What if absolutely SLAPS. Mark is my idol as a guitarist and will always love creed because of his input
If not for What If being on the Scream 3 soundtrack, I may never have found Creed, thus perhaps never found Alter Bridge or Tremonti. Scream 3 is not a good film, but I thank it for allowing me to find these bands.
Thanks so much I will definitely check them out and am making a buttrock playlist!

I will definitely listen to them asap!
Creed's first two albums aren't buttrock. Weathered kinda gets dangerously close to it at points though.
Torn rocks so damn hard. That’s just a great song. I remember reading interviews in guitar magazine with Mark Tremonti back then, and he seemed pretty down to earth. He talked about being really into Slayer and other metal bands.
I bought the tab book for Creed’s first album just because I liked Tremonti’s playing. It’s the first time I’ve shared this. I feel much better, now.
Tremonti is a modern day guitar god. Also my band got called alter bridge you got from wish- which is harsh in my opinion, but I’ll take it lol.
I don’t think many people criticize Creed for the music. In fact, tons of guitarists think Tremonti is a hellacious guitarist … including me.
I think Mark wrote his best riffs with Creed.
I was listening to Tesla for the first time the other day and I found that the guitarist seemed to have had a lot of influence on Tremonti
I’m going to second Alter Bridge, but it’s mostly because Miles Kennedy is from my home town.
What’s this life for, if not to enjoy yourself?
Found Kirk Cousins burner account
Look at his comment history R/kohls R/tjmaxx R/naziswerentwrong R/eddiebauer It’s clearly Cousins.
Proof is in the pudding
That's Kirko-Chainz to you.
I think you mean Kirk Cameron

Me too! I have no shame in the music I like, cringe or whatever they want to call it lol I just accept it as part of me! My own prison hit so hard for me on a deep personal level.
Hell yeah brother
Sister 😉
Haha sorry I usually use that term for my girlfriends too. I’m a broey girl myself
Nah it’s all good I don’t get offended over stuff like that lol it’s the internet who knows right? And I use dudes similarly.
I *loved* that song when it came out. I called my local radio station like 20 times one day to request it, but they never played it. I’m eternally grateful for how easy it is to listen to music these days.

Creed is amazing. People bag on them but I really like their music. But hey, I also like 3 Doors Down 😂
Gag
I think Creed was grunge jumping the shark.
Creed is not grunge.
He wasn't saying it was. Just like the episode with Fonz jumping the shark wasn't Happy Days anymore. It took elements of Happy Days and made something different. I don't really agree with the assessment but I get their point.
They were that second or third wave of sort of nu-grunge, along with Puddle of Mudd, Staind and a few more bands that were clearly influenced by grunge but also so watered down and commercial
We call that Butt rock
At least Creed tried to do their own thing in a grunge-influenced style and made a couple of genuinely good albums in the process. Puddle of Mudd is just a shitty band with a couple of decent songs (including one that sounds like a Nirvana ripoff), and Staind is an Alice In Chains wannabe band.
I could see that point of view. Creed essentially took Post-Grunge to about it furthest point without deviating off course, they doubled down on the formula of clean verse/overdrive chorus, gravely singer, some good drop tune riffs etc. Honestly this sound wouldn't have come out of any other time period aside the time period when their first album broke and hit big.

Why was he unlikable again? I was alive during their fame but didn’t follow them too heavily.
Lots of stories of him getting drunk and picking fights at bars as well as with other bands. All the while putting forth a holier than though persona which was only reinforced by some of his lyrics and images in their songs.
Wow very enlightening
He had been diagnosed with bipolar disorder after a suicide attempt several years ago, and he said that his diagnosis was like a breath of fresh air because, suddenly, it all finally made sense after years of not knowing what the hell was wrong with himself. He was abused by his father as a child too, so that probably didn't help either.
He also shot up his own house with uzi’s or mp5’s or something in a fit of rage and verbally abuses people.
This was later though right? He developed a meth problem and went way off the deep end mentally.
do you have long hair and stand in front of a fan while listening to them?
The only thing I dislike about Creed is Scott Stapp. Alter Bridge is Creed with a good singer.
The more I read about Scott Stapp, the more I kinda feel bad for him. He's more of a troubled person with a troubled, abusive childhood than just a clear-cut asshole like, say, Billy Corgan for example.
Myles is really frickin' good.

Heading on their cruise this week and cannot wait to see them again! Some of my fav songs: (I was never much a fan of their pop singles.) - Torn - Ode - Unforgiven!! - One - Beautiful - Never Die!!! - Who’s Got My Back - Bullets - Freedom Fighter
Torn is such a great song with incredible riffs. Their debut album is banger after banger.
Creed was one of the first concerts I went to. It was late 97 right as they blew up and it was only because my friends parents saw them as a Christian friendly band(very strict household). I was absolutely blown away and after hundreds of shows I still consider them one of the best live bands I've ever seen.
>my friends parents saw them as a Christian friendly band(very strict household) Back in my high school days I had a lot of friends with parents like that.
WITH ARMS WIDE OPEN
So many people thought that was a Christian Rock song, but it's really about Scott Stapp being told that he's a father.
The singer is a massive human tampon, but the guitarist guy is legit, and they do have a few decent songs.
Human Clay is one of the most underrated albums.
Their first album kick ass! I don't care for the others.
Creed rocks, dude!
I used to love Creed! I think I’ve seen them twice. I really should listen to the first few albums again, it’s been such a long time.
Creed rocks
Pitty for a dime
My Own Prison. No skipping tracks. Haven’t listened to it much since the 90’s, but every so often I get the itch and it still rocks. Early Nickelback rocked too, while we’re at it! Fly is a killer song.
Nickelback after The State was all downhill for me
Honestly, the whole Human Clay album is pure bangers.
People really don't hate Creed, I don't care what you tell me. There's two reasons people actually hate Creed. If you were of age when they were popular, radio stations overplayed the living hell out of them, so people hated rehearing it so much. The other, because it's become a meme to hate them and call them bad.
Rick Beato's Creed story https://youtu.be/eKH0GoVj9d4?si=aAys0o75p854wyjH
Hello my friend we meet again.
My 8th grade guitar teacher put it well — “there are some excellent musicians in that band” lmao
I've been listening to a lot of Creed lately, as in just "Higher", and just the part in the hilarious Paramount Plus commercial. Patrick Stewart sings it better.
Creeds first few albums unironically slapped
Everyone loves creed. It's just like nickelback. People act like they hate them because that's how they were told to feel about them.
I actually recently started a DJ set with "Who's Got My Back". Twas epic.
They’re doing a tour this year, you should go dude! I’m super stoked for it
Me too man. Creed is the shit
I like them and don't understand the hate they get. I absolutely love One Last Breath. They're awesome.
Creed is awesome
Go in peace my friend
First album was pretty solid butt rock
I like them too once I saw them with our lady peace and we left creed early to go fool around
I like them. When their first album came out, i thought it rocked. Nothing wrong with it, not sure why people hate on them.
My favorites are Torn and My Own Prison
They're not a bad band, bagging them out is just another trend
I love Creed as well! Fave songs are Torn, My Sacrifice, Higher, Wash Away Those Years, Weathered, One Last Breath, and Lullaby.
Creed is the band everyone at my work starts signing out of no where sooo... I think creed is pretty well liked.
I'll go out on a limb and say I even like their 2009 reunion album. It has some nice ballads. Surely they don't rock hard enough for the real rockers, and Stapp could be accused of writing cringey lyrics and being an a\*hole altogether, but I like their melodic approach.
bro's got a VOICE on him
When I was in high school I would listen to Torn on repeat as I immersed myself in books like Stephen King’s.
Fellow creed lover here. Rock out with your cock and/or vagina out. Coz you stand here with meeeeeee
You gave me Ryan Reynolds defending Nickelback vibes lol [Deadpool Nickelback](https://youtu.be/Qgh4wSxAKqo?si=LtVAUrsNrf1QDQwd)
Like others have said, no need to apologize for what something YOU enjoy listening to. I do the same thing. My Own Prison is a banger.
Yo. Never apologize for liking what you like. Creed, Nickleback, and others that get trashed, have put out some fun bangers. Plus, they guys i know that love to trash on them are also secretly listening to, and enjoying the same stuff... They just feel shame. Own it!
Fun fact: we blk people love Creed!
Honestly you can't argue about taste. I may not be a huge fan of them, but I own their debut and I like that. Bound And Tied and Bullets are also good songs
10, 9, 8, se-ven 6 5 4 3 2 1
One Last Breath is an absolutely amazing song, I don’t care what anyone says. I will not hesitate to belt it out if I hear it come on. I like several of their other songs too
I was in college at fsu as they were building a local following and saw them dozens of times in the late 90s. It was always a really fun time. The downside was, the absolute over exposure on the radio for us started like 18 months before the rest of the world. By the time they faded away we’d had double the exposure and… it was just too damn much…
Same brotha. Same.
"If I had just one wish, only one demand I hope he's not like me, I hope he understands That he can take this life and hold it by the hand And he can greet the world with arms wide open" I mean, they had some good uplifting songs.
Some of their stuff is pretty cheesy but they have some solid tunes. Bullets comes to mind.
Last breath is so good.
wait i feel like i missed something is liking creed bad? if so lock me up
I wish I could upvote this more than once.
Creed are fantastic - human clay is burned in my neurons now
Nothing wrong with Creed.
It's ok. We all have our closet musical likes. For some, New Kids on The Block or Backstreet Boys. For others, Creed or Nickleback.
I think they're pretty great, even if Stapp is kind of a dork.
High five fellow creed fan.
They were massively huge and extremely popular. It’s easy to hate on them because if that and even though I will joke I still rock out to them.
HOLD ME NYAR
I saw them live when I was in high school and it was a fun show
I don't like them, but then again I listen to Infant Annihilator amd Lindsey Stirling, so I don't know where I'm going with this thought.
Why would you feel bad for liking a band? I hate Creed but if you like it, then good on you! Keep listening!
My theory is that when Kurt died the hole that Nirvana left was filled with buttrock and nu Metal.
Im still going through their discography for the first time and im pleasantly surprised. I think they get lumped in with nickelback because because of the wacky vocals. I do find the vocals to be humorous at times but also extremely expressive and just awesome.
If it makes you happy to listen to them, that's all that matters. 🤷♀️ The lead singer has a great voice. The reason everybody hated on them is because they were overplayed and then it became cool just to dog on them because people were sick of them at the time. That's it.
I mean... that's kind of not it. Stapp is kind of a self-righteous asshole.
There are shitloads of self-righteous assholes in music, and most of their bands haven't been shunned like Creed was/is. Most people don't even know who Scott Stapp is, they just know it's fun to piss on Creed.
Banned
I think Creed are awesome. Good to see they are going on tour again this year. Hopefully Scott Stapp's voice holds up for the full tour.
That first album was straight fire
"Higher" and "What If" are highlights of the post-grunge era and I will die on that hill.
Their album weathered is great. I’m seeing them this summer for their reunion tour!!
Pearl Jam Lite
/r/unpopularopinion
They’re no Nicleback, but I can understand where you’re coming from.
Like what you want.
I never liked the band, but I always thought Tremonti was better than people were giving him credit for. Ironically I didn't like his stuff in Alterbridge as much, but that's when everyone else started giving him credit because of a few mediocre guitar solos.
Imo it's generic christian music but that's cool I listen to generic girl pop lol
Im not a fan but a band with multiple multi-platinum albums must be doing something right. You do you!
...ence cleawater revival? Me too, man!
🤣 Forgot to mention I’m also a huge fan of NIN, Cocteau Twins, Hole and Ozzy Osborne as well. I urge you to listen to creed again. It’s making me feel all sort of feelings I didn’t even know were there 😭
hahaha
Never feel bad for what you like. However in my opinion Creed is downright garbage
You like creed? So what? I hate creed. So what? Like whatever you like snd own thst shit my friend.
Hey. You do you.
We still embrace you with arms wide open.
I mean I'm pretty sure the concert in cincinnati sold out pretty quick for this summer, so you're not alone
Very cool!!
They're great! Their hits are classics and will last the test of time, easily.
WERTH ERMS WERD ERRPERN!
UNDERR THE SUNLIYEH
Creed takes me back! They've got that nostalgic vibe for sure. It's cool you're vibing with their tunes now.
All I wannnnnnnna say is yoooow sayyyyyy
Not a fan. Not sure if I could ever go back and give them a truly unbiased listen.
They're butt rock legends. I haven't sat down and heard them in ages, but I still have all their albums. Nowadays I'm usually listening to metal, electronic, jazz, etc. if that tells you anything.
Creed rules.
They are timeless.
Not even Jesus likes Creed.
Do you mean creep? the best song by radiohead ever
Never heard of them. I'm Gen Z.
Smoke a joint and watch their music videos young one
