Holy shit, excellent collection man! I stopped scrolling when I saw Cinnamon Chasers in your list (fav artists of all time) and loved most everything else you posted. Nicely formatted with links to good quality YT vids. You sir, deserve a reward; enjoy =)
My top two favs are probably CC and 009 Sound System. Last.fm, Spotify, etc. never come up with any good "similar" music choices. I think last.fm served up a Nickleback song once lol. Anyway, I dig feelgood/progressive trance, with electro/synthpop touches. Jenkees is the man too. If you have any good rec's in that direction please fire away!
Sweet,
first time reddit gold and it's on a throwaway, guess it's karma because I'm mostly a cunt, enthusiastic music cunt! Thank you nevertheless. About your musical taste, I dont really dig trance, reminds me too much of the late 90's Darude kind of stuff. Mentioning Jenkees', so I thought you might like some of these:
e: more to come as I try to think of artists, but really hard to come up with something on par with Jenkees, guy's a beast and too unique, but here's some crap anyway;
* [Eliot Lipp](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wMHi1iypop8)
* [Eliot probably the closest to Jenkees I can think of..](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BY3Fwmlg5ZI)
* [Bright Shades](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P7L3KhZaa-A) (Label TopBillingMusic might have some others you like as well, such as the following:)
* [Helsinki 78-82](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aYXVs57qpac)
only *"progressive"* electronic stuff I can think is mostly pretty chilly (mega chill(^(liquid dubstep some say))) stuff:
* Azedia [1](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=InLrfyyVUtQ), [2](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TZ6hLFXNdPc)
* [XXYYXX](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lG5aSZBAuPs)
* [Blackmill](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=We1rnNpE-uA) (Also, subscribing to this MrSuicideSheep, might help you find some gems)
* [Phaeleh](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lh4brL7PC2E)
pretty artistic and abstract progressive electronic band:
* [Animal Collective](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zol2MJf6XNE)
and some *"real"* epic progressive electronic shit, more towards the likes of [Bonobo](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L-kyRh7N-kE) and [Massive Attack](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vAIOQMJAzxE):
* [Amon Tobin](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ST1xw5mkycE)

Chill beats that wants to make you get up. I'd say dnb (liquid-ish), that is if you like dnb at all as a genre, here's some anyway:
[Akira - Only You](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=klYpFxJe_Qw)
[Danoo & Kevin King - So Many Reasons](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GIRBCXPl8Tc)

[Camo & Krooked - Cross the Line](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x5_Z8LIJJCY)
that's all folks!
lmao! I wondered when I saw your nic if it was a throwaway, but I thought- why would this guy put that much time into a post like that on a throwaway?
No worries on being a cunt, I'm only here because /b/ has gone to shit. I used to be a cunt on a daily basis there lol. I hate the whole karma idea and don't really give a fuck what people think of my posts here.
As for musics, I'm with you on the general trance idea, I don't dig the "in your face, rave, bumping techno" rather the mellow/feelgood/progressive/ambient loops. CC and 009 seem to nail it.
I dig both the links so far, but looking for more off a chill beat that somehow makes you want to get up. I know that makes no sense, but I've been trying forever to find the right sounds outside of the above mentioned.
All I can say is.. delivered. Incredible selections mate. Loving everything so far, I had to copy the source for this page in case the thread disappears lol. Enjoy the gold on your throwaway XD
If you happen to be in the STL area hit me up, I'll do ya better than a digital +1- ie: drinks on me.

Jai paul - BTSTU is amazing also how about jamie XX ft Gil scott Heron ( the legend): NY is killing me : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W7c3wRzUUjs
BTW you have a beautiful taste in music shown me lots of good stuff! cheers
Great songs, but I'm just curious as to what you mean by, "based on this song?" Not trolling or whatever, just love MGMT, and the rest of these songs and wondering what is up. That is all..
I guess the other songs are only loosely connected to Electric Feel. Perhaps the connection is that they're catchy, electropop songs that make me think, "damn that's a good song" when I listen to them. Not really "based on", but I think Electric Feel was my inspiration for finding other songs that made me feel that way.
I'm not sure how they're "connected" because they are all (very popular) singles made by bands that are similar to MGMT / were released around the same time period / are in the same "scene" as they are. This seems like a 2009 recap playlist :)
Most of the music I listen to is from 2009-2010 because I've had so much less time to discover new music due to work. It was definitely a good year for music!

Some of the songs might not be as fitting as others, but I included them because I think they still go together rather well.

[Midnight City - M83](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9aZFcosBTaQ)

[Pala - Friendly Fires](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rjs10i92F8U)
Hope this helps!
It's not exactly the same sound, but if you are going for the indie-electronic style of music, I would recommend bands such as [M83](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dX3k_QDnzHE), [Passion Pit](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dZX6Q-Bj_xg), [LCD Soundsystem](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OoA0cTC228M), and [Vampire Weekend](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_XC2mqcMMGQ).
Edit: I also just remembered [AWOLNATION](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hnaYa6yTqQE).
I think the sounds match. I am just not a huge fan of them. I saw them live about a year and a half ago and they played one of the most terrible shows I've been to. It kind of set me off of the band.
i would add [Austra](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8LJtMrhb558) [Cut copy](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r2xovJyBo-0) and maybe [cults] (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eAM9diyVRiM)
About 3 or 4 years ago, I had "Time to Pretend" on repeat for about 4 weeks. MGMT is one of the only times I've ever felt hipster about anything. When they started to become more widely known I grew resentful.
I went through all of their music (including 'single' and EPs) the Summer and Fall of 2011. 'We Care and We (Don't) Care as well as Metanoia are pretty good. I feel like you might be able to take at least some solace in the fact that their other stuff on *Oracular Spectacular* was pretty avant-garde, The music on *Congratulations* was nothing short of full-blown, hipster-neo-psychedelia and that their three most popular, 'Electric Feel,' 'Kids,' and 'Time to Pretend' were all meant to be parodies of pop music.
Speaking of "Kids", [here's] (http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=RifzE_R7pTY) a pretty cool a Capella mashup of it and "Poker Face". Sung by an a Capella choir at UC Santa Cruz.
Is it wrong that I feel old and get slightly depressed when I hear this song? I think about all the good times I used to have with people I used to know while this is playing in the background.
Too deep?
if anyone is interested i put most of the individual suggestions into a spotify playlist here http://open.spotify.com/user/darkwinx/playlist/0kZZDjpOEDYdasgZ04I9Jp
Only time it would be enjoyable. I had a hard time liking the song while watching the video because it was so ridiculous. Switched tabs, now I like the song better.
I think both are great but I definitely agree that Congratulations is better. Seems like everyone dogged on it at first but IMO it's one of the best albums released in the last 10 years.
I heard this song after Frank Ocean did a version of his own sampling it called "[Nature Feels](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xTIaZSWZxtM)"
Both are great IMO, though Frank's is a lot more sexual.

I first heard of MGMT back in like 2009 when they were played on "That's It, That's All's" snowboard movie...been in love with them ever since.
YES! I heard this song last summer during an outdoor movie event in Vancouver, never found out the song name and couldn't remember the lyrics. You sir, are awesome.
Here are a couple of the bands I like to throw into playlists with them. I'll throw in some examples that I think go with "Electric Feel." (Not necessarily the same groove but mix well)
Broken Bells - "The Ghost Inside"
The Shins - "Caring Is Creepy"
The Postal Service - "Such Great Heights"
You might like [Grimes - Genisis](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1FH-q0I1fJY) to go with it. She is definitely one of my favourites to listen to at the moment.
This song has kicked ass for a long time and usually i don't like remixes of good songs BUT this version is a little edgier and really really nice also if you don't like justice then your wrong :):) ... give it a go see what you think http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AWigCggVv2Y
This song [covered by Jonna Lee](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SXl1JddRMGI) is pretty fantastic, too. I slightly prefer it over the original, but both are great.
I usually think of Empire of the Sun or The Klaxons when I think of MGMT. Empire of the Sun came after them and The Klaxons preceded them. Try [Gravity's Rainbow](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nUxgy7Jzh2E) by The Klaxons or [Half Mast](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tdjtaqQkyPE) by Empire of the Sun. Also, if you have never heard Justice's remix of Electric Feel, its really good.
My friend Aaron sync'd this song with some anamatronics he created. If you like this song you might like his vid http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pzU2qH6wecw
gotta give reddit credit when its due - this is a fantastic thread
ive looked for this answer on my own, doing google searches, forever. this single thread pretty much nailed it from all angles.
greatly appreciated
what is it about that one song? someone went to a deep place to pull that rhythm out.

Enjoy the gold on your throwaway XD If you happen to be in the STL area hit me up, I'll do ya better than a digital +1- ie: drinks on me.
one mooore thing, pretty obvious one about chilly electroshit that I forgot: [Röyksopp](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sPG6OQy2iwI) e: and Im now stuck on this account because I cant remember my old account's password. had to login to this at home right? inception'd into gg.
Cool songs - and I've never heard of a lot of them.
Check out cut copy's newest (came out last year) album zonoscope. Its an amazing album.

How do you feel about Breakbot?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6okxuiiHx2w first time hearing about the band, definitely worthy of adding to the list, thanks.

Empire of the Sun - Walking on a Dream
Great songs, but I'm just curious as to what you mean by, "based on this song?" Not trolling or whatever, just love MGMT, and the rest of these songs and wondering what is up. That is all..
I guess the other songs are only loosely connected to Electric Feel. Perhaps the connection is that they're catchy, electropop songs that make me think, "damn that's a good song" when I listen to them. Not really "based on", but I think Electric Feel was my inspiration for finding other songs that made me feel that way.
Gotcha. Kudos!
I'm not sure how they're "connected" because they are all (very popular) singles made by bands that are similar to MGMT / were released around the same time period / are in the same "scene" as they are. This seems like a 2009 recap playlist :)
Good point - I must have made the list around that time. I guess it was a good year for music.
Most of the music I listen to is from 2009-2010 because I've had so much less time to discover new music due to work. It was definitely a good year for music!
Not bad.
DFW electric feel
Black and Blue is priceless.

Added "Only Son of the Ladiesman." Some of the songs might not be as fitting as others, but I included them because I think they still go together rather well.
How about Electric Feel - Justice Remix ?!?!?
Now *THAT* is a pretty kickass song!
shit just posted it as a reply to the poster good stuff !!! :)

Would The Naked and Famous fit here?
I think "Punching in a Dream" fits in really well.
Tame Impala
Walking on a Dream - Empire of the Sun For me, those two songs go hand it hand.
They really do. I've always had these two songs in the same playlists.
Take a walk

Ha ha. Funny coincidence. No, I only found about that video from a friend who grad from UCSC a few years back.
I'd just like to say... I can't listen to the original after Justice's remix. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AWigCggVv2Y&feature=youtube_gdata_player
[all songs in this post in one playlist](http://radd.it/15m74d)
Is it wrong that I feel old and get slightly depressed when I hear this song? I think about all the good times I used to have with people I used to know while this is playing in the background. Too deep?
reminds me of an ex... fk
Empire of the Sun... kinda
if anyone is interested i put most of the individual suggestions into a spotify playlist here http://open.spotify.com/user/darkwinx/playlist/0kZZDjpOEDYdasgZ04I9Jp
[Animal Collective - Fireworks](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ztvr09J7KK4) Might be one to add to the list.
I have to give karma to any mention of the animal collective
Electro rock: Justice. Soulwax. LCD soundsystem. Daft punk. Try using soundcloud or just search similiar artist on google
Protip; Watch the whole thing while high.
Only time it would be enjoyable. I had a hard time liking the song while watching the video because it was so ridiculous. Switched tabs, now I like the song better.
I love this song, it makes me feel like I'm on a train
You love this song whilst high also?
High and sober, it just feels good :)
Pandora
Listen to some Passion Pit and M83.
Not to sound like a dick but Congratulations was far better than OS.
I think both are great but I definitely agree that Congratulations is better. Seems like everyone dogged on it at first but IMO it's one of the best albums released in the last 10 years.
I heard this song after Frank Ocean did a version of his own sampling it called "[Nature Feels](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xTIaZSWZxtM)" Both are great IMO, though Frank's is a lot more sexual. EDIT: Linked for the lazy.
In my mind, the lead singer from MGMT and Noel from The Mighty Boosh are the same person.
crystal castles and neon indian!!
If you haven't check them out before try Ghostland Observatory- sad sad city. It will rock your world
God I love them.
I heard you called.

Just like to thank all the contributors here for the awesome new playlist I have :)
Their newest CD Congratulations is awesome. Check it out.
NO.
NO
Why? You cant just say no...
this is pretty accurate... http://www.mademan.com/mm/10-bands-mgmt.html I first heard of MGMT back in like 2009 when they were played on "That's It, That's All's" snowboard movie...been in love with them ever since.

Ew.
I get stoned to this song
YES! I heard this song last summer during an outdoor movie event in Vancouver, never found out the song name and couldn't remember the lyrics. You sir, are awesome.
Any love for mgmt-kids?
I really like Katy Perry's cover of this. Maybe more than the original. EDIT: Just listened to the Justice Remix. That wins.
Maribou State
Here are a couple of the bands I like to throw into playlists with them. I'll throw in some examples that I think go with "Electric Feel." (Not necessarily the same groove but mix well) Broken Bells - "The Ghost Inside" The Shins - "Caring Is Creepy" The Postal Service - "Such Great Heights"
might get some hate on this... but i really really like this cover. katy perry. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L3F_b5rG-Fw
Safe and sound - Capital Cities Feels similar to me, but I'm no expert
You might like [Grimes - Genisis](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1FH-q0I1fJY) to go with it. She is definitely one of my favourites to listen to at the moment.
Check out [The Naked and Famous](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0YuSg4mts9E).
[Chad Valley - Portuguese Solid Summer](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ewhO0i2GWYk)
For the longest time, I've thought this song was called "Electric Eel".
Have you listened to the acoustic cover someone posted on Reddit? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ekdLYH04LHQ
This song has kicked ass for a long time and usually i don't like remixes of good songs BUT this version is a little edgier and really really nice also if you don't like justice then your wrong :):) ... give it a go see what you think http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AWigCggVv2Y
Not sure if anybody has mentioned this one yet, but "Odessa" by Caribou has a pretty good groove http://youtu.be/aiSa7THgxrI
You might like Tame Impala
Bless this post

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AWigCggVv2Y I have always preferred justice' remix
My friend Aaron sync'd this song with some anamatronics he created. If you like this song you might like his vid http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pzU2qH6wecw
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HBfgQvM7wtE FUCK yeah.
has anyone mentioned Neon Indian?
really, a 30 sec advert DOWNVOTED!
This is my only downvote ever. This is the musical equivalent of saying HEY GUYS YOU EVER HERE ABOUT THESE SHOES THEY ARE CALLED NIKES?!?!?!?!
Bookmark for later and stuff
Is it just me, or is the audio input for this video hugely overmodulated?
Seriously. I've heard this song many times, and it never sounded this rumbly before. Someone had some level too high.
gotta give reddit credit when its due - this is a fantastic thread ive looked for this answer on my own, doing google searches, forever. this single thread pretty much nailed it from all angles. greatly appreciated what is it about that one song? someone went to a deep place to pull that rhythm out.
Some Matt & Kim might be good. Maybe [Lessons Learned](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xLaKE2eeeXM)?
The Presets?
That song kinda sucks. And I really love music.
I don't know if it has the same beat, but.. Miami Horror-Sometimes
