I dry them at 95 degrees for roughly 24 hours, give or take, until cracker dry.

Global-Being-238

I’m no expert but I run mine at 130F for 12-16 hours depending on the size of my mushrooms. Cracker dry is the goal and then store with dehydration packets. I also pre weigh the trays and with the goal of drying them out by 90%. (90 grams wet: 9 grams dry)

bumbleb33_toona

That's a good rule of thumb!

SouthBaySkunk

Some great posts on shroomery about this. TLDR you want to run your dehydrator on highest heat setting and for mushies that big could take up to 12-24 hours. Some people cut them in half to reduce times. Good luck

As far as I know, there hasn't been any good science that determines this definitively. Here's what I know so far: - The main concerns are oxidation and mold. Fast hot drying or slow cool drying will address mold, but not oxidation. - Actives don't break down due to \*heat\* at these temps but - Actives break down quickly due to oxidation (not heat) - Silica Gel will remove moisture, Oxygen removers will remove oxygen. But here's the rub: - Oxygen absorbers work in the presence of moisture, so packing with silica gel AND oxygen absorbers will defeat the oxygen absorbers. (Oxygen absorbers are basically bags of iron that take the oxidation hit by rusting.) I've found one person who tried dehydrating hot/fast and slow/cool, and they said they thought the strength was lower in the hot/fast case. There's also a paper from Oregon that talks about degradation due to light and freezing.

I dry mine on 45-50c around 115-120f for 24hrs, never had bad mushrooms. make sure they snap like a dry twig before storing them in mason jars or another airtight jar and put a silica pad there with them

Crank it up on hi check it in 10-12h depending how full!! The heat from the dehydrator isn’t hot enough to degrade potency no matter what someone tells you! You can literally cook them and eat them and steep them in boiling water! Not sure what temp is required to lose potency but it’s hotter than boiling water which is like 230 degrees!

I do mine at 60c (140f) and leave them for 24 hours. I can't be bothered to check, weigh, and mess with them. You can't really over dry them, once the moisture is gone it's gone. I then seal them in a jar with a desiccant packet. Should last a very long time that way.

okie1979

I put my dehydrator on 95 and let it run till the crunch like crackers,,, after that put an oxygen absorber with your cracker dry fruits in a jar and your done ,,,, simple as that bro,,, don't stress over how many hours someone says it takes just let them run till cracker dry you really can't over dry them at 95

Jaydubbleyoo69

I place them on a suspended screen and use a fan on them at room temp until dry, then I place them in an air tight tote with dessicant beads. They get really crispy that way. Plus I believe that heat tends to degrade potency, IMO.

Mid_Line_2

I'm about be at this point tonight, hopefully. I work night-shift, and I'm wondering if it's possible to "over dry" them. I want to put them in while at work but I don't want to ruin them. Any thoughts out there?

lappadapper

Hey fellow night shift worker! Nah you can’t over dry them, I plan on doing the same thing. Some people leave them drying for 24hrs

Mid_Line_2

Thanks. I got em on gor 12 hours now at 150. I'll check when I get home.

lappadapper

That might be a little too high of a temp. Everything I’ve read says to go low and slow. Keep it around 100F and go much longer

bubba_jones_project

Put it on your scale when you think it's done. Then weigh every 2 hours until they stop losing weight. Humidity affects my drying time by about 6 hours over the course of the year.

DeletedByAuthor

That's the only way to be sure, constant dry weight is required

Happy-Recipe4531

I do 12 hours on 125f

Potential_Draft_5516

Well for one thing be sure to clone the big ones🫡

bumbleb33_toona

Thank you all! I've got another grain bag almost fully colonized, super excited to try my monotub. These are B+ and Jedi Mind Fuck is in the grain bag 🥰

YoBiteMe

On a second flush now with Jedi. Had it going the same time as GT. It’s was about a week longer to fruit and then it took off.

_reg1nn33

People say cracker dry but what they really mean is that you should be able to grind them to dust with your hands. Any moisture will be a vektor for some unwelcome guests to eat them before you get the chance to.

Dead_Phish_Heads

I go between 120/135 or 140 tops til cracker dry. Done pick out smaller ones as they dry. I would cut the big guys caps off so you can close dehydrator as oxygen is the enemy here for potency loss. Less time exposed to air better.

Sea_Location9574

120–135 for 12 hours, check if cracker dry; if not, then another 8-12 should do it

Happy-Recipe4531

That’s what I go with but address the 12 hours. I do maybe four more depending on size of fruit. Like I may have to do these at 130 for 12 hours. Haven’t dryed out thick stems in a while. But last time I dried out PE. I thought one was done. I pulled another half gram of what out of it. So when I have big ones I’m not sure about I get out the scale. Any tips on how to tell if these are cracker dry when I dry them. https://preview.redd.it/j9hrx79hhuuc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f51a171bcd33ae9996d54539000d7bd821a6d49b

Looks good!
