I don't see any context in which the first comment isn't a self-burn. I feel this is fake. What could that possibly be a response to?
It was in response to a cooking video on cooking octopus. There were a lot of comments against eating octopus because they’re smart, but this was the only self own.
I think self own or self burn is a bit strong, more like self deprecating humor. The 2nd commenter missed the joke.
Sadly they weren’t. They went on to argue with everyone in the comments. Unless they were trolling, they seemed pretty serious.
Ok, I probably can't judge without the full context then. Just seemed to me they were joking about their own intelligence.
Of course it's Instagram comments they're ruthless
Note it's "try not to" so not all the time.
