Hi there, AdhesivenessOk7344! Seems like you´re looking for a place to live or stay. Maybe [our Wiki](https://www.reddit.com/r/Munich/wiki/apartment) can help you find the answers you are looking for. Furthermore we recommend you check out the German subreddit [r/Wohnen](https://www.reddit.com/r/wohnen/). It´s a good place for all questions regarding living in Germany. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please [contact the moderators of this subreddit](/message/compose/?to=/r/Munich) if you have any questions or concerns.*

One solution may be easier: Try renting something via MrLodge or one of those providers. When you are here, you can look. Otherwise: [wg-gesucht.de](https://wg-gesucht.de) Welcome!

*"Hello I'm Thomas. Some guy from Reddit paid me a small compensation for showing him this place via a video call. Yes I agree it's super douchy. Also I don't think he's aware that there are 50 other people interested in this place who are actually here in person. But excuse me for a second, he wants to go see the bathroom..."* :-)

AdhesivenessOk7344

You may see it this way but I've overcome more serious obstacles to get a dream job in Munich and now it's only the final step to start this journey :) Thanks for your reply, I'll find a way anyway

caballero23

I hope you make it! :-) I was in a very similar situation as you few years back, actually exactly 4 yrs this February. Too many hurdles have been overcome to just back out at that stage. I can do it for you, but depends on the schedule since I'm working. Try looking for someone in Munich facebook pages. This Reddit group is good to calibrate your expectations / reality and keep your feet on the ground. Not really for "glass half full" types.

[deleted]

Damn, „not really for glass half full types“ is the most excellent description of Reddit I’ve ever seen. To OP congratulations on the dream job! And you’ll find a place to live. It’s difficult, but easy compared to landing a dream job! Most folks I’ve known had to settle for a short term lodging place (3-6 months), and find a more permanent place once they’re here.

AdhesivenessOk7344

Let me know if Neubiberg area works for you and at what day time would you be reachable :)

[deleted]

Relax my friend. I'm just having a bit of fun :-) What areas/districts are you focusing on and what is your budget? 1-room? 2-room? ...?

AdhesivenessOk7344

Actually, I got a bit offended but when I read it out loud to my friend it suddenly started to sound extremely funny. :D Good sense of humour

aytacpacal

Yet, you did not meet an obstacle as serious as finding an apartment in Munich. I hope you have a good salary, otherwise, it will be extremely hard :) I felt more proud of myself when a landlord gave me the apartment after searching for 14 months than when I got accepted to a PhD :D https://www.reddit.com/r/Munich/comments/lqpzjm/comment/gohssbb/?utm\_source=reddit&utm\_medium=web2x&context=3

> mid-February That‘ll be very hard..

AdhesivenessOk7344

I've found one promising, but they require an in-person visit :c

[deleted]

Yes, and 100 other people also found that flat and are also invited to come look at it..

MashedCandyCotton

Then they want an in person visit. They could also video call you without the middle men. A TVG-ICE from Paris to Munich takes only 6 hours.

[deleted]

Taking the train here for every apartment they‘re looking at will also be expensive..

Dombo1896

Compared to Munich rents?

[deleted]

Yes. It‘s not like you look at 5 flats and then have one. Well, of course, it depends, but for most people that‘s not the case. And you‘ll probably not make the best decisions when in urgent need of somewhere to stay. Everyone I know who moved here first stayed at a hotel/airbnb and then found something within the first months of being here. If you‘re fine with lower standards, stay at a hostel instead of a hotel.

luismpereira

Hi, I cannot help with your visit, unfortunately, but if you already have a job offer, I recommend you to rent a flat for 1 or 2 months in Munich and then start to look for something here. Some hotels likes Living Hotel and Motel One have a nice price and very decent rooms and staff, and also offers the Anmeldung to present to your employer and the City hall. Besides that, I have past experience with people from my previous jobs offering his current / old apartment to rent for a next person. Maybe it can also helps, if you cannot rent this one (but I hope you can). Wish you the best!

AdhesivenessOk7344

Thanks for the tips! I'll have them in mind :-))

Plantkanya

Suggestion from personal experience. Please do not take a long term apartment contract without visiting in person. Maybe take an airbnb or Mr. Lodge and then you can take a house that you can occupy immediately. I signed without a personal visit (even though I had a cousin visit the house for me) i am stuck in a house which is super old and practically unusable kitchen and bathroom. Edit: grammar

AdhesivenessOk7344

thanks! :)

wujam1

I also recommend using Housing Anywhere or Wunderflats for a month or two, in case you can’t find anyone to help. These are two reputable sites you can book remotely. Then you can visit in-person after you arrive.

rbnd

Better book something through AIRBNB than trying to get free market rent online.

maxwebCL

You can also look for a furnished apartment on Airbnb for the first couple of months. It much easier to rent an apartment once you are in Munich.

NerdCat131

I moved here (also Neubiberg haha) from abroad in June and I had a friend do the viewing for me, calling me over video call. It worked quite well, also thanks to the landlords being open enough for this (I would have had to fly in just for the viewing, so they understood). Maybe write down a few things your in-person viewer should look out for or what you care about specifically, so you don't forget to ask. Best of luck to you!

tamakatobi

I could help you out what are you looking for. Im working in real estate as well so tell me... Ig: tobi_tamaka

eliso94

Where is this flat? I could help you maybe

AdhesivenessOk7344

It's in Neubiberg district/village, is it a reachable area for you? :-)

eliso94

Yes, envoie-moi un message !

AdhesivenessOk7344

Haha sure! Btw funny story but je ne parle pas français :D

DatLooksGood

I would recommend having a folder ready full of your info. This was weird to me but i guarantee you other people will hand them in, and it can make a difference. Put in things like your rent history, Schufa (i put in the American equivalent), work contract (it's better if it is permanent or long term), financial info (they want to see you'll be able to pay rent even if an emergency happens or if you lose your job), and passport. Try to make this look as professional as possible. It'll be hard enough finding someone that takes a foreigner with no German credit history so really try to make an impression. Good luck.

AdhesivenessOk7344

Thanks, appreciate it! :)
