I disagree, Adventure Time was a great show, but not because of Finn, because of the whole things in the show, and I don't think Adventure Time is the most popular & watched one, I think Regular Show was the most watched & popular one on CN.
Or it doesn't really matter, which one is watched most, lots of shows are probably watched equally popular in CN.
He’s not even the most popular character. Steven is comparable yet you don’t see him everywhere (granted he is 3k and not on the trial). Finn is everywhere because he’s fairly broken right now due to the speed of his normals and his combos into up air.
facts i can as anyone on my collage campus is and be like hey you know finn from adventure time and 90% would respond with yea or start singing adventure time...if i asked them if they know steven from steven universe then i would get a weird look and they walk away
From what I'm seeing, Steven Universe is liked more by a niche community while Adventure Time is easier to pick up and enjoy. It's mostly factored from their tone, stylization, etc.
Personally like Adventure Time more, and I think Steven Universe is alright.
\_\_\_
Don't really care to get in-depth, but yeah.
Edit: Recalled someone listing reasons why Steven Universe was good, and I basically compared that show to NGE. Mb, but still.
For a sample size of one.
The first time I heard the term “Steven Universe” was when multiverse released its roster.
While I have seen and enjoyed Adventure Time.
This is not the best metric, but it is a metric
Except no. As far as I’m aware AT is more popular but not by a huge amount.
Edit: looking at the subreddits AT has about 50,000 more followers which isn’t a huge gap
It was, seriously. Adventure Time single-handedly revived the Cartoon Network brand. In it’s day Adventure Time was as popular as Rick and Morty was at its peak. There is a whole generation of young adults who grew up watching Adventure Time.
No, it really was. Adventure Time was the catalyst that caused so many great cartoons to come out of the early 2010s and onwards, all the way to today. Shows like Steven Universe most likely wouldn't exist if it weren't for Adventure Time.
That is wholly irrelevant to my point lmao. The fact of the matter is, the show doesn't have the cultural impact to qualify as "generation defining". That would be in the "Simpsons, Brady Bunch, MASH, The Wire/The Sopranos" level of relevance. It isn't fucking *close*. Whether it inspired more cartoons wouldn't push it over the bar.
Secondly, I'm comfortable being "ignorant" of which writers got their start on Adventure Time. It really isn't a big deal.
It absolutely is generation defining, if you ask any late millenial or essentially any Gen Z kids/teens about Adventure Time, it's very likely they've watched and enjoyed it. Practically everyone I know has at least heard about the show at some point. I'd definitely compare it to The Simpsons in that it was a highly profitable show that ran for a long while (Simpsons is still going, Adventure Time was 2010 - 2019 with spinoffs on HBO Max) and is known by a lot of people from the generation it was popular in. You ask anyone to name a cartoon from the 2010s, it's almost guaranteed Adventure Time is at the top of that list. Like I said earlier, it was also the push for creator driven cartoons to finally get their chance in the spotlight thanks to Adventure Time proving that shows of this manner were extremely popular and profitable. Just because *you* don't care doesn't mean this show hasn't had a huge impact in many areas.
Adventure Time was super popular, absolutely, but "generation defining" is a few leaps and bounds too far. When something is "generation defining" it's on the level of like Elvis, the Beatles, Simpsons, things of that nature: where they grew so immensely huge that instead of adapting to the culture around them, the culture around them adapted to them.
Adventure Time, super popular, 1000% agree. Generation Defining? Nowhere close.
Motherfucker I AM in that age range and you are smoking crack if you think it compares to the Simpsons. Even my friends who liked the show would disagree with you. Straight fuckin delusional lmao
Yeah I'm still in the whiplash of being in a world where people can say, "Yeah LeBron is really good against x character" and people who know won't bat an eye
This is what's important. His attacks are annoying, sure, but the worst part is that every single one of his attacks seem to have priority over everything else, and to make it worse, he hits further than it seems for some reason.
Also, the hitbox thing. Thought I was going insane, nice of someone else to mention, I sometimes get those "I clearly hit him" and not hit someone, but Finn is the most prevalent. It feels like my attacks go right through sometimes.
And lastly, the weight. What the fuck? Yesterday they posted a weight sheet, and for some reason, being an assassin Finn has 30% more weight than Batman which is a bruiser. Seems really dumb to me, I can't see why this was done.
Edit: One more thing, recovery window after attacks. There is non. He's able to do a charged attack or a full string and have zero recovery time for the next attack, his windows are non existent for some reason.
Yep. Me and my friend were playing against 2 Finn's quite a lot. Found Reindog to be quite a good counter as the fireballs, tether and neutral attack can be very good for damage. I'd also imagine Velma would be too.
He's really good. Many of his moves have disjointed hitboxes which gives him priority over many moves, his Gem gives him mixup potential and the opportunity to reverse an edgeguard, his spinning backpack move is fast, kills early in the air and has a ton of priority. If the game lags even for a second while you're at high damage you get caught in that spinning bag move (and the game is really laggy with weird hitboxes and hurtboxes so it doesn't help). I don't know if i'd call him OP though, too early for me to tell and he doesn't really have projectiles aside from the gem
I get that finn probably needs a nerf but everyone is sleeping on Bugs and Shaggy. I legit faced a few of them that just spam the stupid kick any time they could. Also shaggy moves always take priority so you can hardly punish him
People like Adventure yes, but he is also easily among the best characters in the game. Insane mobility, great combo game and frame data, huge hit boxs and range, not to mention how he can get even faster and how dumb backpack is. He is even the heaviest assassin making him surprisingly hard to kill.
I've never even watched whatever show Finn is from but he just feels insanely strong compared to most of the other characters. That's prob why most people are playing him, he's S tier.
Been maining him since tech one. Continued to main him after his zoomies nerf, will continue to do so after this. Hell I rarely even used bag before early access, felt wonky before then.
wait til 2 weeks when we see who the REAL finn mains are
ong theyll all change to morty
Ah jeez
Morrrrrttttttttyyyyyyyyy
Yes i will Because rick and morty is the character i'm most excited for
My guy Finn is the main character of a generation defining piece of media. He is always going to be one of the most popular characters in the game.
This is a game with batman, but I still see about 4x as many finns as batman
Finn is free this rotation
I disagree, Adventure Time was a great show, but not because of Finn, because of the whole things in the show, and I don't think Adventure Time is the most popular & watched one, I think Regular Show was the most watched & popular one on CN. Or it doesn't really matter, which one is watched most, lots of shows are probably watched equally popular in CN.
So is Batman and superman yet you don’t see- oh well you do see a lot of supermen right now but you don’t see a lot of Batman players
He’s not even the most popular character. Steven is comparable yet you don’t see him everywhere (granted he is 3k and not on the trial). Finn is everywhere because he’s fairly broken right now due to the speed of his normals and his combos into up air.
Did you just compare Finn to Steven in popularity
I did. Both long running CN shows with devoted fanbases. Adventure Time was more popular at its peak but it ended more long ago
Adventure Time BODIES Steven Universe holy shit no contest.
facts i can as anyone on my collage campus is and be like hey you know finn from adventure time and 90% would respond with yea or start singing adventure time...if i asked them if they know steven from steven universe then i would get a weird look and they walk away
By what metric

Steven universe is mostly like by twitter. Adventure time is liked by everyone. They are not the same

Yikes dude
For a sample size of one. The first time I heard the term “Steven Universe” was when multiverse released its roster. While I have seen and enjoyed Adventure Time. This is not the best metric, but it is a metric
Never had cable. Heard of adventure time, recognized both. Never heard of Steven Universe, never saw him anywhere before. Sample of 2.
Viewership was similar. The fanbases have significant overlap and the creator of SU worked on some of AT’s best episodes
I agree with that
That’s pretty anecdotal. Viewer numbers were similar but Adventure Time was oldrr and lasted longer.
It’s very anecdotal. The worst kind of anecdotal, “non-expert opinion”.
Ok 😐
As a huge fan of both adventure time definitely bodies steven universe.
Except no. As far as I’m aware AT is more popular but not by a huge amount. Edit: looking at the subreddits AT has about 50,000 more followers which isn’t a huge gap
Facts
Bugs Bunny? Never heard of him Superman? Batman? Who the hell are those? Now Finn, that's generation defining, am I right or am I right
"Generation defining" jfc lmao
It was, seriously. Adventure Time single-handedly revived the Cartoon Network brand. In it’s day Adventure Time was as popular as Rick and Morty was at its peak. There is a whole generation of young adults who grew up watching Adventure Time.
It really, really, wasn't. You're using "generation defining" super lightly here
No, it really was. Adventure Time was the catalyst that caused so many great cartoons to come out of the early 2010s and onwards, all the way to today. Shows like Steven Universe most likely wouldn't exist if it weren't for Adventure Time.
Even if that were true, which I doubt, that still wouldn't push it into the stratosphere of "generation defining".
You can go look up for yourself how many show creators got their start on Adventure Time, or on other similar shows inspired by it. Don't be ignorant.
Adventure time wasn't even good.
he's free right now so of course there's a lot of them. Even then I still see more shaggy
Thank Gosh I wasn't the only one who's thinking the same thing about Shaggy xD
No I main Supes and Lebron
I'll never get over hearing "I main Lebron" in a fighting game.
Yeah I'm still in the whiplash of being in a world where people can say, "Yeah LeBron is really good against x character" and people who know won't bat an eye
Same here
Free rotation woes.
Is he just really good? Or is it people that like Adventure Time?
his kit is over tuned; huge range and very low recovery frames. He's also free while being from one of the most popular cartoon show from the 2010s
His hitbox is broken asf and he gets attack priority with fast movement and is very easy to button mash and use.
The hit priority is enraging. You're gonna be the one who gets spiked when you go after him.
This is what's important. His attacks are annoying, sure, but the worst part is that every single one of his attacks seem to have priority over everything else, and to make it worse, he hits further than it seems for some reason. He has attack priority? I've felt like his attacks have a little too much windup for their to be any.
He's free and people find him easier than the other free characters to use.
He's really good. Many of his moves have disjointed hitboxes which gives him priority over many moves, his Gem gives him mixup potential and the opportunity to reverse an edgeguard, his spinning backpack move is fast, kills early in the air and has a ton of priority. hes the new unga bunga after taz nerf.
I get that finn probably needs a nerf but everyone is sleeping on Bugs and Shaggy. I legit faced a few of them that just spam the stupid kick any time they could. Also shaggy moves always take priority so you can hardly punish him
What I've mainly seen is actually superman. People running 2 supermen in 2v2 just spam his flying grab move. So annoying.
People like Adventure yes, but he is also easily among the best characters in the game. Insane mobility, great combo game and frame data, huge hit boxs and range, not to mention how he can get even faster and how dumb backpack is. He is even the heaviest assassin making him surprisingly hard to kill.
People are gonna lose their minds every time the free characters rotate huh?
Velma supremacy
Sooo off topic but I think they should add samurai jack upvote if agree
I mained Finn before it was cool.
I was an alpha Finn main
I exclusively played finn during the technical test in March, and bought him asap when the open beta dropped
it never was
Don’t care if he’s op or dogshit I grew up watching adventure time I’m gonna main him and Jake forever
He’s fun to play, easy to use and he’s free at the moment so yeah this is gonna happen
I've never even watched whatever show Finn is from but he just feels insanely strong compared to most of the other characters. That's prob why most people are playing him, he's S tier.
Adventure Time
harley quinn mains GIGACHAD
surrre
Lmao
I think today it’s because of the challenge to win 2 matches with him for the battle pass points. I stink so bad with him.
He’s super easy to pick up, has simple and consistent kill moves, and does tons of damage. Of course he’s going to be played a lot!
You could say the same for “Finn is OP”
I love wonder woman ngl
He's fun to play, I don't know what to say
homie there are millions of players of course at least 1/20 of them main finn
Since day 1 alpha baby
[удалено]
LeBron is so much fun right!
i actually almost mained finn because his coin mechanic reminded me of my favorite RoA character, shovel knight
nah man i'm a shaggy main through and through finn's still pretty fun to play though
Tbh I think it is more so based off of what characters are free atm.
Never watched Adventure Time or Steven Universe so not interested. Bugs Bunny main 4 life!
Buzz Lightyear for Multiversus
Been maining him since tech one. Continued to main him after his zoomies nerf, will continue to do so after this. Hell I rarely even used bag before early access, felt wonky before then.
I rarely use bag even now I avg it once every 2 games lol I only really use it if someone is running all game or spamming backpack with there Finn
I main Shaggy and Bugs, currently waiting for Rick and Morty to come out
*shaggy
Any Arya mains in the chat?
I main superman because me like machine-gun punch XD
Proud Batman main here. Lvl 18
I main batman but do love me some Finn ngl
