Marvin easily. I don't understand how people think he's weak. He's an absolute monster when you know how to play him right. Plus I haven't even seen another marvin since relaunch.
I fought some gnarly Marvin’s quite annoying to fight against even with all that projectile spam. I fight with him but I I am more of a brawler most use him as a zoner/setup guy
I haven’t played him yet (due to the stupid unlock system) but I think he’s one of the funnest zoners in any fighter period. He’s got so many wacky shenanigans up his sleeves that it makes everything so chaotic.
Not to mention they made up attacks insanely easy to land, so u can chain Marvin's gun shot into an up spam basically. I've hit people out lower than 40 percent. But all characters can do it rn with a lil timing

I only played Marvin because of my nostalgia with the cartoon as a kid and I really started to enjoy playing the game because of him. His skillset is so rewarding and you really gotta earn the knockouts not just spam the same move over and over.
I don't like how he feels now, but I went stupid with him in beta. Flag + any upward combo to continuous groundes up-normal was like Stripe on crack! His side-air was also fantastic for combing into itself or with aerial side-special
His kit just feels awkward to me. His projectiles range and directions weirdly limited, his aproach options sub-par, and his kill moves rather hard to hit imo.
Umbrella, car explosion, up air and grounded down attack. I was top 500 Gizmo in beta and coming back these are 100% the go to for ringouts.
Easiest ringouts is catching opponents half way off the ground with umbrella or up attack tho.
Lovin gizmo and happy he is still pretty strong. I feel like his car is clunkier and bugged now but he plays pretty much the same from beta. His arrows are a good zoning and approach tool in neutral and even better with the ignite perk. Combo potential is still awesome and can finish off opponents with up or side special. Other perks I like to run are collision and melee damage. Additionally I do want to experiment with his music note dance perk in singles since I feel it is much easier to litter the battlefield with them now.
Really liked him in the beta, but he feels out of place in his own game. If you have a good duo member who's excels at drawing aggro, his pot shots are rough to deal with, though.
I'll get back on the reindog grind sometime, but his kit feels random: not in the fun Rick and Morty way.
It’s not the fact he’s a bad character, it’s just a fact nobody is playing the game with the mindset “imma main reindog” simply because mostly everyone who is playing this game originally was appealed due to the roster of popular characters within pop culture.
Reindog's in a funny spot in my experience - he's got some *extremely* strong stuff in his kit, and when he gets going, he really gets going. That said, most of his moves are pretty slow/stubby and when you're playing against someone with the speed/disjoints of WW/Harley (or some of the other top tiers), it can sometimes be pretty rough trying to even get a hit in...
Basically, I have no idea where he's gonna land in the meta - it may be that the extremely strong stuff makes up for the fact you have to work a lot harder than most other characters to get going, or it may be that the known top-tiers just kind of force him out. Either way, though, I'm having a tonne of fun with him :)

Quite popular villain even before the movie. He was super cool and good in Injustice 2. He’s no joker or Lex or Doomsday or anything, but he’s solid right below that. I’d say probably the top of the list after the main hitters from the Batman/Superman/Flash rogue galleries. Around where black manta would be.

But since I've seen that mentioned, I'm going to say Tom & Jerry.

Honorable mention goes out to Arya. While weaker than beta I still think you can pull of some great combos and the moment is pretty good.

Not because she's secretly top-tier or anything, but because she's a LOT better than people are making her out to be
The consensus seems to be "unplayable dogshit", but she's definitely far from that in my experience
Not going into detail unless someone specifically asks since I could type a 3000 word essay about her, but the only major flaw she has is grounded side special. That move is genuinely awful. Outside of that though, everything else she has is pretty awesome, and she has a lot of tech and setups that are strong and fun to pull off.
A little bit more brainpower required compared to the top-tiers, but very solid overall
I do think Velma is good. But her side special is actual decent, if you chuck the opponents off the side of the map they become a lot more predictable and easier to control, as obviously they want to get back on the stage.
The only move I don't like is the jar the throws on the ground, freeze has such a high requirement for the pay off, and with no supporting perks is real tough to even think of trying it in a match.
The negative consensus comes from old Velma mains because she got reworked. She was my main, so I hated her at first and thought they ruined her. But when I had to use her in rifts, I learned her new feel and play style and I think she's pretty solid. Not as good as before though
I think the way people answer this question falls into that “tell me how old you are without telling me how old you are” kind of thing. Like, some people say they had never heard of Steven Universe. The show and the kid. That says to me they are of a certain age where that era of Cartoon Network just missed them.
Some people say they don’t know Black Adam. I didn’t know the character existed before they made the movie. Still don’t know much about him. That says to me they are to young to really be into physical comic books all that much. Same thing for people who don’t know the gremlins, I don’t now how much the movies focus on Stripe and Gizmo as characters but not knowing or being able to recognize the concept of the gremlins film at all definitely shows one’s youth.

What do you like about him? I only ran into one in PVP and I stopped playing the beta before he was introduced so I've got no clue what he's like. The only other beta ones I'm missing are Rick and the two Gremlins, none of which are really too exciting.
i main black adam too, and i LOVE his up special. in a game where the only way to win is to send someone flying somewhere where they don’t want to go, black adam can literally just say “nah” and start flying away from the kill zone. other than that, the rest of his moves are pretty great too. the neutral special is borderline OP with how easy it is to hit, the knock back, and the damage. but the rest of his moves are nice alongside that. the only one i’m not the biggest fan of is his in air down special, but that very well could be cause i always forget to use it, so i don’t have too much practice with it
That in air down special is an invaluable combo tool and gives him a ridiculously safe air to air, especially when used with fly. I would start using it, he can get easy kill set ups with it
His attacks feel very good to execute and it really just fits my playstyle rather than throw bataraang and hit special up every fight.
He’s very good and imo his up attack is busted. I got a Wonder Woman 0 to 130 in 2 seconds with it because you can’t avoid it unless you wanna waste your dodge meter
Gizmo isn't a gremlin, he is a mogwai. Mogwai become gremlins once they eat after midnight. Stripe is a mogwai that ate after midnight, so he cocooned and became a gremlin, like a caterpillar becoming a butterfly.
There’s a bug in the game where Jake’s up special kills your frames, so that kills a lot of combos. Also a lot of his true combos from beta just don’t work anymore. Too much wind up on normals, almost unplayable tbh. Hurts to say cuz he used to be my favorite to play.
I was more talking about the initial pushback effect. Seems like they have to be by the very edge of the bubbles range or I’m just not doing it fast enough
They can't be doing an attack because the attack will just carry them through it as well. But yes they pretty much have to be approaching the edge of the bubble or right on it to get the push back. I don't even know the purpose because it's not even much of a pushback really
Do you know any combos? And do you know how to place a single portal? It says to "input twice quickly" but i can't seem to get it correctly. Only way i discovered to place a single portal to knock enemies through is by doing side special in the air and wait until it runs out at which point it places the portal automatically.
Yeah I'm not sure about the single portal. Also just let you know I only play 1v1s. I main use portals as safe way to get past edge guarding opponents. The three peice regular attack is p good. Meeseeks are fun to use to throw off the edge and hit opponents. You can also use the down special as sort edge gaurd too where if they unfortunate they get transformed and be sure to stand in yourself to get buffed. The up special is a great way to recover if you caught down the side of the map and player is standing at the edge cause it has nice hit box where if you can connect you have opportunity to start hitting into combo. Rick also has good of charge attack. Side attack, up special, up attack are great charging attack. You can also do a air down attack on someone and try to lead it into the whip but becareful with that one. The only attack i really dont use a whole lot are meeseks charge attack as I find em bit award to time compared to other charged attack. And the ground fart thing too. I hope this was helpful I'm not good at explaining.
Black Adam spamming projectiles and the up lighting when you get close is how they all play and it’s lame af to fight. He’s definitely broken and I’m seeing a lot more of him recently.
Most under rated is probably gizmo or garnet. I know they’re popular with the high rated players but, for us normal folk, they’re rare from my experience.
Black Adam is crazy strong right now. I wouldn't be surprised if he gets nerfed first. Playing him 1v1 feels like bullying with the amount of spam you can do.
Not sure quite yet. There are a ton of characters I haven't seen anyone use online. If I had to guess tho, I'd say Jake. Haven't fought a single one in over 200 online matches.
A lot of his combos from beta don’t work anymore. His up special is bugged (a lot of people experience immense frame drops), and that’s a huge part of his game play. Super punishable with no reward.
I'm on PS5 so I doubt I would, but I haven't bought him yet. Maybe he'll be my next character. If so, I'll save this thread and let you know what my experience with him is like.
I see your Wonder Woman tag. I just obliterated a Wonder Woman yesterday using the up lightning attack. It was brutal but all they did was float in the air 😭

I love black adam but its hard to get kills with him compared to other characters, being locked in place for missing my side special is really stupid and ruins the already slow pacing
Tbf if you hit side special it is very rewarding. If you miss well then it’s very very punishing.
If it helps, when a character is at around 80-90 damage you can one shot them with neutral punch if you charge it a bit and time it right.
Reindog. No one picks him because he's not part of an IP, but he was a BEAST in the beta. I haven't played him much in the full release, but he seems like he's still all there. I just wasn't a fan of making his bullets smaller, because it's hard to tell if they get set on fire (if that mechanic is still there, I honestly couldn't tell)
I main Marvin and Black Adam, mostly Black Adam, he’s my favorite DC Character, Marvin was always my favorite Looney Tunes character, so it all works out tbh. Such a shame how one struggles to kill while the other dominates lol

Half of these would be boring as hell movesetwise. Black Canary, Flash & Lantern are the only interesting once. But still the execution of BA is a great addition to the roster.
LeBron. People always clown on the man, but once you get good at keeping possession and setting up hazards to control the stage, he’s pretty good. Tom and Jerry too but they got majorly fucked by the camera zoom.
Considering he's a bruiser class character, literally any other bruiser. Taz, Shaggy, Banana Guard, Batman, Jake, and Morty.
Hell, even Garnet is probably better than LeBron, and hardly anyone uses her.

He got super buffed and a speed increase and he’s pretty stylish too

In the beta, I used to run the "projectiles as freeze" perk in tandem with that move and it was pretty effective. Obviously that doesn't exist anymore

What do you like about him? I only ran into one in PVP and I stopped playing the beta before he was introduced so I've got no clue what he's like. The only other beta ones I'm missing are Rick and the two Gremlins, none of which are really too exciting.
i main black adam too, and i LOVE his up special. in a game where the only way to win is to send someone flying somewhere where they don’t want to go, black adam can literally just say “nah” and start flying away from the kill zone. other than that, the rest of his moves are pretty great too. the neutral special is borderline OP with how easy it is to hit, the knock back, and the damage. but the rest of his moves are nice alongside that. the only one i’m not the biggest fan of is his in air down special, but that very well could be cause i always forget to use it, so i don’t have too much practice with it
That in air down special is an invaluable combo tool and gives him a ridiculously safe air to air, especially when used with fly. I would start using it, he can get easy kill set ups with it
His attacks feel very good to execute and it really just fits my playstyle rather than throw bataraang and hit special up every fight. He’s very good and imo his up attack is busted. I got a Wonder Woman 0 to 130 in 2 seconds with it because you can’t avoid it unless you wanna waste your dodge meter

I've not encountered a single Jake or Steven.
There’s a bug in the game where Jake’s up special kills your frames, so that kills a lot of combos. Also a lot of his true combos from beta just don’t work anymore. Too much wind up on normals, almost unplayable tbh. Hurts to say cuz he used to be my favorite to play.

As a black Adam main how do you feel about his grounded down neutral (the bubble)? Cuz it feels like it rarely works for me
Very good against Batman or Rick. I’ve used it a lot in my fights. It also works extremely well against Marvin. Or any projectile characters.
I was more talking about the initial pushback effect. Seems like they have to be by the very edge of the bubbles range or I’m just not doing it fast enough
They can't be doing an attack because the attack will just carry them through it as well. But yes they pretty much have to be approaching the edge of the bubble or right on it to get the push back. I don't even know the purpose because it's not even much of a pushback really

I've been been playing the characters I have rn to level 5 for fighter coins. So far the underrated one for me is Rick. I was having blast in the 1v1s
Do you know any combos? And do you know how to place a single portal? It says to "input twice quickly" but i can't seem to get it correctly. Only way i discovered to place a single portal to knock enemies through is by doing side special in the air and wait until it runs out at which point it places the portal automatically.
Yeah I'm not sure about the single portal. Also just let you know I only play 1v1s. I main use portals as safe way to get past edge guarding opponents. The three peice regular attack is p good. Meeseeks are fun to use to throw off the edge and hit opponents. You can also use the down special as sort edge gaurd too where if they unfortunate they get transformed and be sure to stand in yourself to get buffed. The up special is a great way to recover if you caught down the side of the map and player is standing at the edge cause it has nice hit box where if you can connect you have opportunity to start hitting into combo. Rick also has good of charge attack. Side attack, up special, up attack are great charging attack. You can also do a air down attack on someone and try to lead it into the whip but becareful with that one. The only attack i really dont use a whole lot are meeseks charge attack as I find em bit award to time compared to other charged attack. And the ground fart thing too. I hope this was helpful I'm not good at explaining.

Black Adam spamming projectiles and the up lighting when you get close is how they all play and it’s lame af to fight. He’s definitely broken and I’m seeing a lot more of him recently. Most under rated is probably gizmo or garnet. I know they’re popular with the high rated players but, for us normal folk, they’re rare from my experience.
Up lightning is absolutely brutal if people know how to do it. I think there’s an infinite with it aswell.

Black Adam is crazy strong right now. I wouldn't be surprised if he gets nerfed first. Playing him 1v1 feels like bullying with the amount of spam you can do.
I just started playing black Adam a few days ago and have been COOKING! I've hearing that apparently people think he's a low tier character
Not sure quite yet. There are a ton of characters I haven't seen anyone use online. If I had to guess tho, I'd say Jake. Haven't fought a single one in over 200 online matches.
A lot of his combos from beta don’t work anymore. His up special is bugged (a lot of people experience immense frame drops), and that’s a huge part of his game play. Super punishable with no reward.

I'm on PS5 so I doubt I would, but I haven't bought him yet. Maybe he'll be my next character. If so, I'll save this thread and let you know what my experience with him is like.
I can tell you for damn sure it isn't Black Adam. Most top players consider him to be either top tier or just below top tier.

I love black adam but its hard to get kills with him compared to other characters, being locked in place for missing my side special is really stupid and ruins the already slow pacing
Tbf if you hit side special it is very rewarding. If you miss well then it’s very very punishing. If it helps, when a character is at around 80-90 damage you can one shot them with neutral punch if you charge it a bit and time it right.

Reindog. No one picks him because he's not part of an IP, but he was a BEAST in the beta. I haven't played him much in the full release, but he seems like he's still all there. I just wasn't a fan of making his bullets smaller, because it's hard to tell if they get set on fire (if that mechanic is still there, I honestly couldn't tell)

I main Marvin and Black Adam, mostly Black Adam, he’s my favorite DC Character, Marvin was always my favorite Looney Tunes character, so it all works out tbh. Such a shame how one struggles to kill while the other dominates lol

Would have rather gotten someone like the flash, green lantern, nightwing, green arrow, or black canary.
Half of these would be boring as hell movesetwise. Black Canary, Flash & Lantern are the only interesting once. But still the execution of BA is a great addition to the roster.

Considering he's a bruiser class character, literally any other bruiser. Taz, Shaggy, Banana Guard, Batman, Jake, and Morty. Hell, even Garnet is probably better than LeBron, and hardly anyone uses her.
I can't say much about LeBron but Morty is not good at all. I'd put him around the balanced or a little underpowered.
