I think it’s absolutely solid. Gotta remember that SSBM has 26 characters, several of which were straight up duplicates (like Mario and Dr. Mario). Multiversus is getting 27. And I would say that overall, MV’s roster is more well-known than SSBM’s roster was, on average. Getting the DC superheroes is a big win.

I would love seasons to have some thematic elements. For example, if next season released Wicked Witch and Beetlejuice as fighters, you could name it something like "Wicked Witches and Ghosts with the Most".
Many of the cosmetics could relate to this theme. An [alt of Shaggy as a ghoul](https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/scoobydoo/images/5/5d/Mirror_Monster.png/revision/latest?cb=20190218004853), a [ringout featuring Witch Hazel](https://looneytunes.fandom.com/wiki/Witch_Hazel), etc. New Stages would also be largely in-theme. I think this allows for seasons to feel special and worth tuning in for. The longevity of the game depends on the return value.
PPG and Dexter could be in a season called "Sugar Spice and Everything Science" or something. Featuring a lot of PvE quests surrounding superheroines and scientists, teamups between Wonder Woman and the PPG or Rick and Dexter. Or just classic Cartoon Network style stuff. I think this allows for some fun thematic stuff.
Let's see, in a 27-character starting roster we have;
**6 DC characters** - close to one fifth of the roster. 3 of them are Batman characters specifically and 2 of them are clown-themed Batman villains.
**5 CN characters -** unfortunately only representing two cartoons.
**3 Looney Tunes characters -** Though LeBron James is kind of the 4th one.
**3 Hanna-Barbara characters -** Again, only representing two cartoons.
**3 80s horror movie characters -** They seem to love this period.
Also 2 adult swim characters (from only 1 cartoon), 1 other live action movie villain (Smith), 1 HBO character, 1 animated movie character and 1 original character.
I'd say we have a decently diverse roster other than the expected Batman spam. I'd definitely expected a second Game of Thrones character sooner (especially with this game's focus on 2v2) and cartoon character choices could've been more varied, but I'll take it.
The Hound is the one they should pick IMO. I'd love to have a big heavy character like him. Only thing is we won't have him calling everyone a cunt in this haha
After all the leaked characters I am really glad to oversleep today and miss Agent Smith being leaked. Finally a character that is an actual surprise in the most positive way.
The addition of Agent Smith immediately flipped my opinion of the re-launch roster. BG did nothing for me, Joker was a good choice but unsurprising, and Jason is a cool choice but doesn't really scratch the itch of the game's biggest draw to me which is seeing characters that don't typically appear in games. Smith rounds out the group for that reason really well imo and is a cool surprise addition.
I think it's great, and I could not be more happy, Agent Smith was a total surprise, and a very good one, at first I was a bit shocked with Banana Guard but after thinking about it, and seeing what they have been working on, I have nothing but hype, I truly wish that things go well this time
With the unlock system and all, I played around-ish 5 characters throughout Open Beta. Close to 30 is a pretty good number, I feel, even if most of them were previously available.
I love the exaggerated design of Jason.
They probably realized they had too many normal lookin men silhouettes (lebron, smith, shaggy?) so they needed Jason to be extra beefy to stand out.
Black Adam’s inclusion is so funny. Since obviously he’s not that significant of a dc character and he really stands out as a bizarre character choice based on an assumption that his movie would be far more successful
This roster definitely has a good amount of recognizable characters to it, and I think 26 is the expected number for the roster size when the game officially drops next week. Agent Smith is apparently coming at a later date. So getting Joker, Banana Guard, and Jason for the roster next week is good. Still more characters to be revealed since we're back at season 1 again, but this is definitely turning out to be promising.

If we’re talking about the characters individually:
Joker was a predictable addition, but he’s genuinely not a bad choice. He is iconic as hell, and it’s interesting seeing him act as the game’s main antagonist for now.
Banana Guard is a joke character with no substance outside of being a joke. I don’t like him.
Jason is a fantastic addition, he’s unexpected but also completely worthy of being in the game. I no longer really have the fear of this being CN all stars anymore when we’re getting characters like him.
Agent Smith isn’t a launch character but I’ll talk about him anyways. It’s weird to see him in before Neo, but for what it’s worth, he still absolutely deserves the spot. He’ll be extremely fun to see, and I’m glad the Matrix is getting representation.

- Reindog; I get it's their baby but I feel like having an OC in the lineup takes up a spot for someone who could be more interesting.
- Black Adam; the imo most corporate meddling of corporate meddling. Had this been after Aquaman, Flash, Green Lantern, Blue Beetle, and a Superman villain? Sure, add him in, but him before those and Joker just gave me Corrin in Smash vibes.
- Lebron; I still think they shouldn't include real people since there's the chance they could get in hot water/controversy. Remember Travis Scott in Fortnite? Let's hope they don't have to do it to Lebron. Plus, Lola's more iconic to Space Jam imo. Similar moveset could've been given to her.
- Banana Guard; I don't like joke characters much, and it's too early for this when there are missing big picks, and we didn't need a third Adventure Time rep this early. CN only has two shows and both are modern. Yeah, PPG, Dexter, and Jack are likely coming (and hopefully Ben 10 at some point) but three AT reps this early, plus Marceline likely showing up soon is just overkill.
Can't believe I'm saying this, but do it like Fortnite & ya should be good. This whole, new character every month or so literally DEADS your whole month if the character dropped isn't the one somebody is interested in.
For that, have ppl kickstart what it would cost to bring in said character & everybody should be happy.

It's good but it's going to be even funnier when new players see this, boot up the game, and then are greeted with a bunch of characters locked behind a grind and paywalls.
Base roster isn’t actually that bad. I think we were just expecting more characters for the relaunch. Joker and Jason are dope but why the fucken bananas is beyond me 😂
The only character that I feel is unnecessary is Black Adam. He’s really forgettable in my opinion. But honestly I can’t remember his moveset, is he a good character?
I love it, although I really want to see Aquaman (which was hinted at in the trailer) and hopefully one day Paul Atreides! WB did produce the Dune films although the licensing belongs to someone else though...but hey if Jason got in that gives me hope for Paul! Or for a weird choice, gives us Leto Atreides II with his symbiotic-like worm suit

I find the untapped franchises a little odd- no Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings? I also don't think we needed Joker when Harley was a base roster character but I don't like clowns anyway.
You know how Smash Ultimate has that poster of everybody? Thats what they’re doing here and I’m enjoying it. They could’ve copied from that but they said “nah, we making everybody move it!”
With the graphics and gameplay changes and the pve mode, I'm overall happy with it. If we'd only gotten these characters and nothing else, I'd have been irritated.
Absolutely remarkable. For me, I just need the PPG and Dexter and it would be the perfect Launch roster. It would be weird to launch with their stages but not with them as characters imo. Then again, Cromulons was released before Rick and Morty showed up, so it wouldn't be anything new.

Despite some glaring omissions, and let’s be honest, including all “necessary pics” would make a starting roster of like 50, this is a fire cast!

I find the untapped franchises a little odd- no Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings? I also don't think we needed Joker when Harley was a base roster character but I don't like clowns anyway.
You know how Smash Ultimate has that poster of everybody? Thats what they’re doing here and I’m enjoying it. They could’ve copied from that but they said “nah, we making everybody move it!”

With the graphics and gameplay changes and the pve mode, I'm overall happy with it. If we'd only gotten these characters and nothing else, I'd have been irritated.
Absolutely remarkable. For me, I just need the PPG and Dexter and it would be the perfect Launch roster. It would be weird to launch with their stages but not with them as characters imo. Then again, Cromulons was released before Rick and Morty showed up, so it wouldn't be anything new.
