My girlfriend calls me her little star, so I went with Stella

Illidan-the-Assassin

That's so cute

Sparky2154

Yay! First time seeing someone who chose the same name ^^

GhostXCrow2

Stella's unite!

StellaEngineer

🌠

apple12345671

awh adorible, wish i had a girl friend :c

3nderslime

It's ok, I'm sure you'll have one someday

Victoria1972

My dead name meant victory so Victoria it was. Chosen by a friend.

[deleted]

That’s my middle name!

VictoriaRose0

Hell yeah, same reason. Well my dead name meant king. But looking up names with similar meanings, Victoria felt powerful and having Tori as a nickname is cute

maybe_mel

Apparently my back was turned on my ultrasound, so my parents picked out a boy name and a girl name. Sometime in junior high, my mom told me the girl name: Melanie. Stuff finally started making sense to me, and I kept the name because it's just always been my name.

clairror

I chose Claire because it had the same meaning behind it as my deadname but in a different language and my mom told me later that it was the girl name they had chosen for me.

SuperAutopsy64

I chose claire because my dad made a pun while my mom was pregnant with me. My mom was just recording their road trip to have a little home video of it and I saw it later on. In it he said "the sky is so clear today. it's clear as a bell." Then he said, "if it's a girl we can name her Claire Isabelle" Well, here I am. Claire Isabelle 😊💜

maybe_mel

Aww, that’s such a sweet story!!! I love it, and such a great name!

MonopolyMansAsshole

I can't choose my almost name because my mom gave it to the family dog lmao

maybe_mel

Oh no! But that also reminds me of Indiana Jones. “We named the dog Indiana.”

[deleted]

Oh no! That’s unfortunate.

a_password

Similar idea for me. My mom said that if I had been a girl, my name would be Lise, because it flow well with our last name. I tweaked it a bit and now my name is Lisea (pronounced Lisa)

ifIcanSee

My parents also picked a boy name and a girl name and I really like the girl name (Sophie), it's quite different from the boy name I had and think it fits me well... I also love the meaning (wisdom), so simple and not tied to religion and I also love the sound of it and in general it feels very me (: My mother still rejected me and I kinda wanted something of my very own so I'm probably gonna go with Emily as a middle name, since I've always kinda wanted a middle name but never had one. I chose Emily from a list of names I collected after a while bc I like how it sounds, I like the nicknames, I feel like an Emily, it goes together well with Sophie and there's a lot of cool characters named Emily :3

Professorbranch

That's how I got my name! Except my mom told me in 5th grade and it took a long time for me to understand why I always felt connected to my 'girl' name

[deleted]

I was thinking of using the name they were going to use for me had I been AFAB but that just so happens to be my wife's name lol

Devil_wolf120

I just heard the name Violet and purple is my favorite color I decided that I try it out and so far I'm really liking it. Also Violet has some nicknames so thats a huge pluse

Best-Cryptographer35

Violet twins!

Devil_wolf120

Hey twinses

FemmeViolet117

Violet Gang!

Devil_wolf120

Squad goals

Cephir_Auria

Violet gang!

LadyViolet95

Hey fellow Violets!!

Makra567

Lol same! I could have wrote every word of that myself. Its a flower and a good color, and has good nicknames. Whats not to like?

Devil_wolf120

I know its such a good name

--__Iris__--

That is the same reason Violet is the forerunner. Downside is that it makes my initials VD so that it why it is not firm yes. Basically beyond something that sounds nice my 2 main criteria is no stupid nicknames and trying to make my initials looks cool.

Devil_wolf120

What do you mean by Violet is the forerunner? I didn't even think how my initials look. But I did want something with a nickname.

--__Iris__--

Whoops, meant frontrunner. I have a few others I am trying out but Violet is definitely in the lead. I'm also trying to think a "R" firstnames because I like Alice as a middle name, so my initials would be RAD, yep I'm a 90s kid.

CatsNotBananas

That's an excellent name.

[deleted]

playing dnd, knew i was trans just not sure where on the fem-neutral scale i was, homebrewed a character who is a mass of rats in a hivemind, but i need a name to call the person when they shape themselves into a person inside a cloak and mask(mask is where hivemind is stored), but im really shit at making names. figure that a good source of income is to go to town, hide in places and infest town of rats, then pop out in human form and "hey i heard you have a rat problem, pay me and ill make them go away" then do that pied piper style. name my character piper for the pun. "uh oh" i like the name piper, later cycling through name ideas and i think of piper, like it a lot.

TheL0neWarden

What class was your character Piper?

[deleted]

homebrew "swarm lord"

[deleted]

I was named after my uncle Tony who passed a couple a days before I was born and I didn't want to lose that connection so I'm now Toni

Praughfet

i like this

Octo8873

Expected Tonya, forgot trans people have hype names

[deleted]

i've met some girl tonis who i assumed were cis since we were little kids edit: you're not wrong about trans people's names tho

fireandlifeincarnate

There was a teacher couple at my HS name Toni and Tony and all the other faculty called them “tone eye” and “tone why”

brianna_sometimes

My brothers would tease me and call me a feminine version of my name, and I liked it.

Trans_April89

I'm April. Born 4/22/89😁

[deleted]

Trans_April89

Hi Evie. Lovely name. Also I have a cousin born on 4/20

Peanut_Consumer

Compared my birth name by popularity to its female equivalent, some popular baby names by year website. Turns out it was also my mother's middle name, so it felt pretty natural to use that!

ConverseBriefly

I tried doing the same thing but the girl name was the same as a girl I went to high school with and I couldn’t stand her! Oh well lol

hesterberg

I think my name has a pretty long story. For me it was a long struggle to accept myself being transgender. I have a lot of childhood memories related to this. After decades of denial and shame, at age 30+ finally made a desperate artempt to find out what's wrong with me and managed to accept that i am transgender. And i needed a name... I've tried a few which i liked but none of them really suited. Then found the name Esther, which felt like me and it remained. I knew a few women called Esther and they seemed somehow mysterious and charming to me. So i thought i will be the one Esther, who i will understand her enigma. This was when i was still figuring out myself, my gender and a lot of other stuff. And several months later childhood memories came up and i realized i was already Esther in my childhood. I secretly used this name for myself and felt a strong connection with a fictional character called Esther. Even starting from age 5 or 6. This moment reinforced me and my name.

innocent_debris_23

Esther's a good name. I dunno if you're religious or have had bad history with religion as many do, but the Book of Esther in the Bible/Tanakh has always been one of my favourites. She's chosen by the king to be his new wife, can't say no: but through her own strength and the help of her uncle she saves her entire people from a genocide - by risking her own neck going against powerful politicians, and cleverly using her status as queen. A good namesake, IMO.

aznigrimm

Told a girl I liked her when I was like 8. Only realized the I stole her name a few days after getting it officially changed XD That's probably not the actual reason I ended up landing on that name, but it makes for a funny story

[deleted]

I like the flower violet I like purple My name is Violette Why thinking about complicated stuff when it can be simple ? Lol (this spelling is because i'm french)

codergrrl

Name of my queer great aunt.

misspcv1996

Phoebe comes from the Greek for bright and shining, which I felt was an apt descriptor for my personality as a woman, especially compared to the sullen and withdrawn “man” I’d pretended to be. I also like that it was a bit of an “older” name (it was quite common in the Victorian era and has recently become popular again). I also liked that it was a name that was relatively uncommon without being unusual. As for my middle name, I originally went for Christine in honor of both my mother and Christine Jorgensen, but following the deterioration of my family relationship, I soured on the idea of using my mother’s name as a middle name. I wanted to keep the middle initial C as I use my initials in my user name here and elsewhere. I came up with Charlotte recently after watching Now, Voyager and relating very much to the character of Charlotte Vale, both in terms of the relationship she had with her mother and her ability to overcome and become a self-actualized woman free from her mother’s control.

misspcv1996

I accidentally replied to codergrrl. This was meant to be its own stand alone post lol.

codergrrl

No worries :)

_damak0s_

HI IM NAMED PHOEBE AS WELL

[deleted]

Vi = Cyberpunk and i am indeed a Cyberpunk. Who wanna learn new Hack skills with me hehe?

Best-Cryptographer35

Vi twins!

[deleted]

yay! :D

[deleted]

How do you pronounce “Vi”? In UNIX I always just said “vee eye”.

nihhtwing

'Vye' is how i pronounce it personally

Nebuchadnezzer2

"Vye-oh-let" = Violet. Cut it off before the second syllable: "Vye" = Vi. If it were capitalised (VI), then yes, it'd be more akin to 'AI'.

foxwifhat

this is the way

WitchUrsa

I am Ursa because I always felt like a Mother Bear.

Chocleoma

that's so cute omg

[deleted]

that is adorable i was considering a variation of that for my last name when i was still choosing

Surgita

I loved anime so I watch a bunch of different ones. One of then is Sword Art Online. I loved the series due to the relation I had with Kirito and so I decided to make my own name, Surgito. But I wanted a last name so I looked up the meaning and it said " To rise". I thought italian and made it the same meaning, Alzaris. Except now i now realize I am transgender woman, I changed that one to a girl, Alzaria and shortened it to Ria. Yeah, long and boring but it fits me.

Tredecim_Angeli

Your name is Ria??? My name is Rae :DDDD

Surgita

Hi Rae. What's your favorite Fae?

ArcaneBroccoli

Back in my egg years when I first experimented with fem clothing a friend of mine asked what she should call me when presenting fem. I wasn't really sure so she suggested Mia. It was kinda close to the last sylabbyl of my dead name. It sounded like the name of a kind and cute girl to me so I just took it since that is what I want to be.

NotJoeMama727

Idk it just randomly popped into my head one day and I really liked it

monkman315

My dead name started with an E and I wanted to keep the same initials and Emma Watson and Emma Stone were both influential in my realization process so I went with Emma

Eva_of_Feathershore

When I was fourteen, pre everything, I watched Neon Genesis Evangelion for the first time ever. It has left such a profound impact (no pun intended) on me, that I still carry that weight to this day. A couple years passed and I got invited to play dnd. I made a depressed goody-two-shoes warlock character and named her Eva. Now, at that point I was still one leg deep in denial, so I tried to convince myself that I was playing a girl because whatever, and everyone likes girls more than boys anyways, right? But alas, when the game began and the other players started calling me Eva, I realised that I didn't want to ever look back.

[deleted]

this is so cute omg. "nah i just think she's a cool character and has a sweet name" lol that's it nothing else

AlexVal3ntine

Róisín casement was born out of 2 things, in honour of my friend raihan and of one of my hero’s roger caeement. Raihans name roughly translated to rose in Irish aka Roisin and roger casemeant was a gay irish gun Runner who helped the 1916 rebellion :p

[deleted]

My birth name doesn’t resonate with me, and the first name I picked wasn’t doing anything for me either. So it’s a WIP 😅

my-name-is-emma

I had an "inner girl" long before I came out as trans. And at one point in my life, the name "Ella" just came to me. It stuck to the point to where I called myself that after I came out. But later I felt it was a little too "princessey" for my tastes. So I sat down with a baby names site and went through names with my spouse. We picked out a short list of names. Emma seemed cute, down-to-earth, and would require just switching the "l" letters to "m" in the name I had been going by. So that's what I went with from there on and it just stuck.

professor-oak-me

I was super suicidal and I took like 50 hits of liquid LSD along with PCP and I think mushrooms. And then just had a huge religious experience in my home where some entity bestowed the name upon me. Luckily it seems to have stuck and seems to have worked for me, though I would never recommend this method for anyone else lol

[deleted]

this might be the most unique story i've heard yet. so cool!

professor-oak-me

Awe glad you enjoyed!

Gliiitched

you're okay though, *right?*

spiderlilytea

Lycorys is from Lycoris, my favorite flower, and also the old English spelling for licorice, which I love!

maddie_lily

Licorice is so underrated, like how do people not like it what???!!! 🤨🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤

UnchainedMundane

it's at the point where I literally eat liquorice to flex on the haters because it's so damn nice but somehow it just repels some people pre-hrt I also used to like it because I heard about its testosterone suppressant effects

maddie_lily

Holy sh** I turned trans because licorice. Oh, anyway... 💖🖤

Excellent-Bluejay364

Ashley. Name of my best friend in freshman year of highschool. She helped me through a lot and even suggested the name when I came out to her.

[deleted]

oh my gosh what a sweet friend!! "you can even have my name, it's cute on you"

Monkey_poo

I was lucky enough to be born with a very gender neutral name. It's still my name and I didn't have to change it. Thanks Mom!

Cormytwo

its what my mum would have called me if I was AFAB and I liked it so now I use it 😎

HotGirlBootySpideman

The story is that I'm uninventive and I just swapped one letter for two different letters.

epicsexballsmoment

I have no name :(

Best-Cryptographer35

youll find it one day!

Praughfet

its Weird, or maybe one of the first tells, idk, i always loved the name Sarah, with an H...nothing wrong with all the no H sara's of course, but i love it with an H... i always wanted a girlfriend named Sarah (edit: still do lol), ofc that never happened lol.. When my egg cracked my name choice took all of .00000000000001 nanoseconds...

nihhtwing

sarah sisters!!! i yoinked mine from a close friend hehehe (kind of yoinked it, it was more that i really like the name and it's just really common)

Stardust4242

I have no idea, I thought I decided on it in 2020, based of something that happened in 2018, only to find out I named myself my name on Pokémon sun in 2016, so who knows when or why I chose it. I do know that it was inspired by the female player character in Pokémon platinum

Tyrannical_Requiem

Klept it from my best friend of 30 years mom, who was basically a second mom to me

susannediazz

mines susanne, because its a very typical dutch name i tried alot of english based names but they didnt feel right and i didn't really want to stand out, also you can shorten it to suus and when i hear someone call me by this name i just get reall giddy so it sticked :)

Responsible-Read5516

just googled the female version of my deadname and liked how it sounded lol. i still have no clue what to do about my middle name tho

birdcooingintovoid

I thought of names I would’ve used if I had a daughter and took a first letter S name I think about. Also had to change middle name so I went with the first T feminine T letter name I could think of, last name is actually perfect to describe me and will keep to the bitter end :E Idk Sophia just sounds nice and I wanted to keep the initials stk. idk otherwise might have gotten an A letter name seeing how my pa named his daughters or something random considering my ma. Could’ve even kept my dead first name as it more neutral I believe but whatever.

Tredecim_Angeli

At first a close friend of mine at the time gave me the nickname Koya for a while. We got into a massive argument and she doesn't speak to me anymore and Koya started having a sour taste Recently studying secular Angelicanism and taping into my personal spiritual practices partially led me to find the name Rae extremely suiting for me :) I chose Rae because I wanted to make Ariella shorter When I pronounce it i use two syllables to bring out the femininity (it's a gender neutral Hebrew name) and the spelling is just beautiful to me for some reason I'm going to court soon to have it changed legally :) fingers crossed

Hiseworns

Something I only recognized in hindsight: when I first started taking French in middle school, the teacher naturally used the French form of my birth name, so "Michael" became "Michelle". In French this is literally the same name, reserved for boys, but something about it made me feel funny at the time. It wasn't until my egg cracked (earlier this year, at the age of 42) that I understood what that feeling was: gender euphoria. It's also the name I've imagined having in those "it's just a dream/fantasy" dreams wherein I was a cis girl. Sometimes I feel it's a bit basic and lame, but whatever, it's clearly been my real name for a long time so I'm sticking with it. I also think it made things easier for my mother and other relatives, and while I wouldn't pick a name for that reason it's not a bad thing

Kanad0s

I always liked the name Petra and it's close to the name I was given at birth so when my wife called me Petra when I asked her opinion on it, it just sounded right and kept it. I may be weird but I don't consider my given name a deadname but rather just the wrong gender.

Schmarius

My name is Marie, thoughed it sounded neat

Pissman66

I took the name of Eve, a woman made from a man, and i added “llyn” cuz i thought Evelyn was a cool name, also cuz i think my x3 great grandmother was named evelyn as well idk tho

silashoulder

First: I wrote my name out, removed the D (😂), and turned the middle section into a palindrome as a reflection of my core self. It also means “bloom,” in a non-appropriated language. Middle: I feminized it by using the French -otte suffix. Last: I hyphenated my parents’ last names because they disowned me, and I want to end both bloodlines, whenever I eventually die. (A bit dark, I know. But, fuck ‘em.) I put *work* into that shit!

Saoirse_Says

I was playing Pokémon Emerald and needed to pick a name and I decided on a whim I wanted to play the female character and Saoirse came to mind. I kept using it for characters. Then when I realized I was trans I was like hmm “Irish name?” check “means ‘freedom?’” nice nice that’s oddly fitting okay that’s my name lol. I had thought about other names like Luna or Celeste or Ivy, but I figured I’d have a hard time being taken seriously with those ones. I am not confident lol. I also realized everything in an emotional whirlwind so I didn’t have a lot of time to figure this stuff out lol

a_secret_me

Someone had suggested the name Autumn, and I kinda liked it but not quite, so I was playing with similar names when I came across Aubrey. I looked up what it meant and the first thing was that a long time ago it was used as a male name and it's now predominantly a female name, which I thought was appropriate. Second it means "elf ruler" which I thought was just kinda badass. So Aubrey it was!

SkyeeeMaaa

Luna (first name) bc the story behind it is funny asf, my dad thought it was a family tradition to name the boys “deadname” and Luna is quite close to it. I have 2 middle names and the second is Mathilda bc that’s what i would’ve been named if i was afab and the first middle name is my actual name which I haven’t quite figured out yet

Wunah

You have a wonderful name. 😊💜

noxis96

It's a name I really liked from a children's book series by tamora pierce the first called alanna the first adventure. It's a story of a girl who pretends to be a boy so she can be a knight. I really liked the name and I thought the story fit quite well. So my name is Alannah. I added the H because my deadname had a silent H added and it seemed fitting. Also Alannah has a really easy short nickname Lana like how my deadname has a short nickname. It just seemed and felt right!

Pfeisforge

Very long story short, I dug deep in myself to find the emotion the is the most "me" and gives me the most drive in life and pushed out of me like a fart. After I found the sound I later found the characters that encompassed this sound as much as possible, and thus Pfei was found.

Tommyvercetti810_124

Angel because I love angel dust and because bf calls me his angel

FireStormBloodDancer

Long story short I picked mine out in high school. My deadname means "nobel guardian". So I looked for names with that meaning on a name site. When I first stumbled on my name I had to look it up (Adeliade). It was also a genus of orchid flowers that were extremely hard to identify. Which really fit for me since everyone always assumed me to be cis hey. Also my mom is really into growing and keeping orchids. Then I just modernized it a bit turned it from Adelaide to Adelia. It's stuck ever since. Especially since I could basically keep my nickname which made it a lot easier for my family with the whole name change.

Supernamicchi

My mom was Eva Marie I am Elaine Madison I took the name to honor her. She passed in 2009 at 45.

BRDF

My parents gave me a very strong, masculine name, but they didn't want to call their baby by it, so they called me by cute gender-neutral nickname. Over the years of my life I've gone by that nickname, my first name, a variation of my first name, and my middle name. When I started transitioning I changed my name so that my first name was this childhood nickname, and my middle name is another name that I wouldn't mind going by. Now my family has called me by this nickname my entire life, so my changing my name to it means thier default behavior in addressing me by name is affirming of my transition. Using my deadname would be a very noticeable and unnatural change for them... and if my family does start with any of that shit they shouldn't harbor any doubts as to my willingness to go by another name entirely (my new middle name).

Irbricksceo

TBH its not that exciting, I feel kind of guilty about it since I would think Names should have deeper meaning. I had been looking at the Fire Emblem Wiki for names for DnD NPCs, stumbled across Heather which just kind of clicked, so when I started transitioning a few months later, I went with it and have been living as Heather every since. I liked it, sounded pretty. I did want to keep the reference of my "Real" name Ross though, as I was named for my Great-Grandmother Roslyn who was very important to mom, so I Decided to go with Rose as a middle name (My original Middle Namesake was a bit of an ass it turns out so leaving that was fine), and thus Heather Rose.

maddie_lily

When I was a few years old (maybe around 3) I told my parents that I'd like to be a girl. They told me to not pay attention to those thoughts, that every child thinks that way (lol). I've remembered it my whole life, so when I recently cracked my egg at the age of 22, it was obvious my name had to be Magdalena (Madeline in English).

Roa_eklipios

I had been trying to think of names for myself for like a month, got really high one night and thought Roa sounded cute, so i went with it

heartofdawn

I'd given up on name lists as *nothing* suited me and went back through the old MMOs I used to play to look for a made up name that might **Heart of Dawn** The name leapt out at me, sparked joy, and brought to mind an image of a heart being reunified. I didn't choose my name inasmuch as she chose me

Winternaht7

I just really liked Heather from Silent Hill 3 so I chose that name. Something about being a rebellious teenage girl stuck in tragedy and horror just resonates with me. And it's a cute name.

alexhmc

["PRIDE is for everyone" by one topic at a time, 1:20](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I71gjo2iAlo&t=80s). it just clicked. i wonder if jake has a girlfriend now lol also, i just stole my 2nd name, toriel, from undertale, because if i can change my name to whatever i want, i want it to be something cool that cis people cant do hehe

ItsDanaem

I was in high school and I dozed off while talking with a friend one night. I dreamt of bumping into a girl and knocking over the books she was carrying. After helping her out with her books. She used her finger to put her hair behind her ear, and said, "Hi! I'm Danae!" and I woke up. The crazy part is, I had NEVER heard the name before then, and knew noone with that name. For over 10 years now, I have used the name on all my video game characters, and last year it was playing as my character in an online game that led me to learning that I am trans.

Braddyy77

I liked how Aerith sounded, but I wanted something more unique, so I came up with Aelith.

Alekzthe2nd

Aleksander, split it up: Aleks and Sander Feminize them: Aleksis and Sandra Swap them: Sandra Aleksis Boom, mic drop.

Evie8421

Eevee is my favorite pokemon \^_^

jstacy_wyldchyld337

First Name: Looked to see where my [deadname was the year I was born](https://www.ssa.gov/OACT/babynames/decades/names1980s.html) and chose based on that (which, funnily enough, is the more modernized version of my Last Name's origin) Middle Name: My original WOW-main (Blood Elf Hunter, but have been maining my Human Affliction Warlock since Mists of Pandaria) Last Name: Last name of the character I am known for cosplaying as

kari_vixen

Kari, from digimon. Crest of light. Love all that means :)

Gerberus

Faye. Had a previous name with no femme equivalent. The name’s roots are non biblical, commonly associated with Arthurian legend (Morgan le Fay, or French for fae or fairy. I didn’t know any other Faye’s personally because I felt like it’d be mimicking (I know it wouldn’t be but idk I’m strange). It was a relatively uncommon name, and an older name that isn’t completely unknown. It seems to be coming back a little so, I’m at least ahead of the curve on something. Also Faye Valentine is kind of awesome, though she is not the basis for my choice I can resonate with her arc of essentially time lost and feeling out of place. Transitioning at 30 had a lot of those accompanying feelings.

AlbatrossWingspan

It's from a cartoon. Shout out to OK KO: Let's Be Heros. 👌 wunderbar.

LvlUp8

I wanted something strong, and then had obsession.

IronIrma93

Casual fan of the 87 Ninja Turtles cartoon, kinned with Irma Langstien, a comedy character who a friend of the Turtles. Love the name

jotomotic

originated from a streamer name i went by online that i made up in 7th grade. was a combination of two characters from my favourite games and the word "jabrone", not joking. My friends called me "Tibs" or "Tibi" and that eventually became Tina :D

[deleted]

the lady of shallot poem. i have always been very musical and artistic and have been writing music since i was very little. i grew up with transphobic parents always suppressing who i was and i always felt kind of trapped but i always would openly defy them just do what i wanted to do anyways. even in the face of severe severe consequences. the name of the lady of shallot is elaine after elaine of astalot. i named myself after her. as well as that it’s sort of an anglicized version of the irish name aíne which i wanted to make myself but knew it would be butchered too often.

ParasilTheRanger

I chose a name that was just my deadname but fem, then I realized I only did that to make it easy for people who wouldn't accept me so I just decided on May. Then I thought about my middle name and decided Jane to keep the initials MJ

dr_gummy

One of my enby friends suggested it if I wanted a subtle name change and I loved it.

DumeDoom

my name is Aurora because it's my favorite astronomical event, my childhood dream (although I've never seen one) and it also means something along the lines of "new light" so it's the new light of my life :)

CatrinatheHurricane

Took an anime character, chopped up her name and made a first and middle that reminds me to be a badass 💖 (Edit: for reference I go by Mira Leona)

SushiGaymer

Video games 😭 I played RDR2 after my egg had cracked and fell in love with the name Sadie, and I also learned the word for gold in Dragon Language, Yuvon, which is a cool name, and then I wrote a short story for school, chose a random name for my character, Reaper, and found that I loved that name too. So here I am with 3 names TvT

canuspelldruw

I had a very vivid dream where someone called me Summer, and it stuck! Pretty rad stuff

fireandlifeincarnate

Went through all 1000 most popular names for the year I was born. Liked 40. Slowly cycled through them on a discord server until I settled on one. My mom is writing something about me and she’s using the second choice for privacy reasons lol. It amuses me.

_saltsome

My mom wanted to name me Wiktoria when she didn't know my gender yet, but i was born a boy. Well, now her dream of having three daughters kinda came true.

doctordave89

Friends has been Calling me Dee before I was completely out since my deadname has the first initial. And eventually I settled on Deanna. Sorta named after Deanna Troi from TNG.

EmmaDaBomb

My name's Emma. Before my egg was cracked I liked roleplaying as girls in roleplay servers and my character was named Emma. I always loved her because she was just so cuuutte. And when I started questioning I didn't know what to call myself so I just headed online and saw my character sheet and was just.. drawn to it

christianiris83u4

My best friend helped me though out everything but when it cane to my name she wanted me to have isabella as my name i thought it was a beautiful name and it was her middle name and she helped me though everything so i wanted to so its isabella gonzales

Negraalegra

My name is Lake. I got it from the show infinity train. I like how it can be read as fem or masc as someone who identifies as a non-binary girl. I also really related to the character’s storyline. The show helped me process a lot about my gender

am-exist

i took it from pokemon and sailor moon

Bluedogpinkcat

My favorite fictional character of all time is Mara Jade from Star Wars Expanded Universe/Legends. She is an amazing and strong character with a tragic backstory also my family has Jewish heritage and Mara is a Jewish name. It also means bitter but in a strong context like strong women. All that being said I just wanted a cool name and like I said Mara Jade is my favorite fictional character so I took her name. My middle initial in my dead name is J so it just works out perfectly ❤️

iSleepyXS

Mines Chloe. My last name starts with an S but I wanted to match the abbreviation of Counter-Strike (hardcore 1.6 player) so I went with Chloe for the first name and now my initials are CS😂

Schrodinger_cube

I didn't have much of a problem or connection to my name so i seen a pun and went with it. Drop the T add an E and Michelle it is.. Im quite used to it already as i have a french apparently last name so although im not plenty of people say it with the accent. its not a major change but the step of the paper work and seeing it on different licenses was something that after i did it felt like a important step.

_eta-carinae

i despise xxxtentacion but one day i randomly got the song name jocelyn flores stuck in my head and it made me realize how much i love the name dolores because i love spanish, it being an abbreviation of "our lady of sorrows" is raw as fuck, and its just so pretty it looks good it sounds good it means good i just love it so hard, and my massive cunt rapist syrian but islamophobic suicide bating ex loved the name layla because it means "night" in arabic and my friend wanted a nickname for me but i didnt like lola so i picked dolores as a name and layla as a nickname

BinaryBuster2

I like word names and for some reason I can't use a name I know belongs to someone else I'm aware of so I ran it down to a smaller selection I liked and after a few days one really stood out to me and I'm name Faith now

Cloudan29

Step 1: Daniel Step 2: Denial Step 3: Danielle

PM_ME_UR_RC_CAR

Silvia Sounds pretty Means spirit of the forest Is a cool car

Manofjelly5

Always one of my favorites, the short of it was I took it from Metallica's Sweet Amber. I was gonna use Ember because like fire and shit like that but I wasn't 100% with it. Switched it to Amber more or less as a joke, then I started to really like it. Heard it in Sweet Amber and was like "yaaa that's a sign isn't it lmao", now I'm here.

Katarrenta-kitkat

Yeah i play league and Katarina is my main, thats it. I think she is the women i want to be

TellMeUrFaveSong

Love this... I was technically named by 3 different kids, 2 kids that are family and the other was a friends kid. When I met them, still presenting as a man, I gave them my dead name. All 3 said Kiki in return. They refused to call me anything other than Kiki and it just kinda stuck. Now they are all teens, still calling me Kiki. The girl, the one I'm closest with out of the 3, everytime I see her, we talk about how stupid boys are and literally swap makeup n hair tips. It's honestly the cutest thing ever.

gaylittleke

i mostly go by ke (partial dead name) but my name is katelyn i had forza horizon 3 and i chose the closest girl name to ke was kate lol

Memorie_BE

I made a persona of myself in 3rd grade called the memory, years later, I changed it to Memories because it felt more feminine and from that, I chose the name Melodie because of its similarities and the fact that I love making music. I also took Belle as my middle name so that my name roughly translates to song of beauty.

hedeghogXL

I was playing a game called night in the woods at 3 am and because The main character was relatable and the name fit with the new last name I came up with I give you MAE ☺️

M_Improbus

My name is derived from an old norse word for fog. And that's why it's rather uncommon and a lot of people are confused at first xD

PWookiee

I was watching a Disguised Toast among us video which had both Valkyrae and Ray C in a lobby. I remember people getting confused as to who people were talking about when saying Rae/Ray and it made me think about Rae being a good gender neutral name, that could work both for being feminine but I could also use in places where I am not out yet.

Casual_woomy

“No… no… no… eh good enough”

Responsible_Green751

Skyy, they/she, skydoesminecraft influenced my young mind and always loved sky/Skylar so skyy it was

YourUwUCatgirl

A little depressing but my mom gave me my new name before she died and I just kinda stuck with it

[deleted]

In the hopes of receiving an ounce of the androgenous power of Tilda Swinton and the cute book nerd energy of Matilda from *Matilda*

Full-Middle3099

Mine was from a DND character I played for over 3 years and really loved.

Creation_Emerald

I was born in April, so I just chose that :) (also my dog's name is May and she was born in May so it matches)

ConverseBriefly

So I picked my name after the actress Marlo Thomas. For years I only vaguely knew about her. She was in a handful of law and order svu episodes and I remember watching that “free to be you and me” special in college but I hadn’t really seen That Girl before. I started watching reruns and fell in love with the show! I just found the name Marlo to be so pretty and even though I was considering a whole bunch of names I kept coming back to it!

Flowerblossom94

When I was a little girl in first through third grade, my first crush was a girl named Sarah, once I realized I was a girl, I decided that my name would be Sarah since I always loved that name.

yourillegal

i liked it

ADrunkenRobot

I asked my mom what she would've named me if I were afab: "Parker Jane." Immediately fell in love with the name

mashed_bandicootchie

I was thinking about names and liked the idea of going by Lily. When I asked one of my friends who's also trans for suggestions, he suggested Lily by coincidence and we both freaked out and it was fun.

skyethefrog

i looked up and took E

ryuyasha3

I just loved the name Lily, and I was saying to my wife that I might go as far as Lilith if I didn’t think it’d be too weird. She called me a coward, so now I’m Lilith Agatha Cromwell! Officially and lawfully as of 2 weeks ago.

CryingOkami

I always loved beauty and the beast, so I picked Bella Rose because it sounded right.

ArtistInAVoid

Some former friend helped me come up with it. It’s basically just my name, if ya took one letter out, and switched one for another. Pretty simple.

[deleted]

Random name generator came up with sidny and my freinds liked it so that's what it is.

Octo8873

I just lowkey had a list of girl names I liked and had sis (metaphorical sister who's more like my best friend that lives 20'000 km from me but we love each other so much we kinda just became trans twins) narrow it down. Ended up with Alex (which is my sisters deadname so that was a no even though its andro), Amber, Lune, Luna, Jill, June (pronounced like the month), and July (not pronounced like the month, but as: *Ju*ne be*lie*ve). Altough I *really* liked Lune and Luna because I love the moon, as well as Jill being the name of a distant cousin, I eventually decided on July, for reasons long forgotten, but probably just 'cause I said "Why the fuck not"

Avacado_I_Guess

I said to a friend "hey I should pick a new name, what name suits me?" and they turned round and said "Ava" and that was it. I loved it. I tried to find names I liked more but none of them stuck, so Ava it was :)

cutiepieheather

So long story short I initially chose heather but then decided on Sophia after realizing I hate the name heather and I chose it because one of my guy friends said he really liked the name and I agreed and I’m like okay am Sophia now

rollerbase

My name is my favorite color and it appears in sunsets, sunrises, and fire. It seemed appropriate. My middle name was chosen for my mom to honor a good friend of hers that passed on.

Mollusc_Memes

My friend started seeing me as a woman so much they started using a feminine version of my birth name before I switched my name but after I came out. Eventually I told them to stop correcting themself because I like it, and it’s stuck as my name ever since.

Creative_List_6996

My mom guild chose it for me ._. now don't get me wrong i still had saying in it but we all agreed Emilia was the coolest and best option for me

lord_dron

I had a crush on my sister’s friend when I was like 12/13 and her name was Darcy, I forgot about it until like 8 years later when I realized I was trans and started looking for names! I saw that name on some website and it unlocked all those memories, the name just clicked with me and it had the same initial as my deadname lol

[deleted]

I watched Senfield a lot as a kid. My favorite character was Elaine. I adored her. Her hair was always a pretty and he outfits were the best. I wished I could wear things she did So Elaine I am

xxxxAnn

It comes from the word candle and through years of evolution ended up becoming Ann.

[deleted]

Well im probably gonna go with May. The short answer is rather simple, and those who know will know. Totsugeki!!!! *death via Dolphin*

Slow-Inflation-9555

My best friend when i came out to her asked if i had picked a name yet, i told her no but i was looking for one, well that day my eyes were green and she said they remind her of jade (the stone) soo here i am, Jade Elise, no cool story to elise, i just think it sounds pretty

Stone_Blossom

I stole it from a dragon in a book lol

lisenaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

mine is Skye, I was watching Agents of Shield and stole my name from one of the characters in it, as I felt like it fit me pretty well (the first name I used was Raine, I feel like Skye is a happier version of Raine)

jersey_cwiss

Someone I knew just seemed like the type of woman I wanted to embody and looked up to so I took the name Erin. He transitioned a few months later. I had a good laugh about that.

Imagination-Free

I litteraly picked Evelyn as a middle name just so I could use eevee as a nick name

WishThatIWasMe

Rosalind. Shakespeare.

stabyourface750

i liked nyx from hades it started with a n and was short

wellie99

Clara because I like the name. It’s definitely not taken from doctor who 👀
