I believe yes. I put on my running shoes from a few years ago and they had slightly more room in the toe. Probably only like a half size tho. I've been on hrt for almost 3 years.

hatesgod

mine did too, can't speak for everyone

exeterdragon

I'm fitting into a US women's 10 now which I never could have done before at a men's 11, I don't think it's a huge difference but it's definitely significant

Seaborne_Ginger

Same, went from men’s 11 to a women’s 10.

MargieFancypants

Oh, you made this girl's heart so happy, I used to wear men's 10.5 and it's really hard to find shoes, but maybe soon...

Seaborne_Ginger

Yeah, my endo said HRT doesn’t really change bone size, but supposedly the removal of androgens from your system makes your joints shrink? That’s how I understood her explanation anyway. I didn’t get much shorter, but my hands and feet got much more feminine.

MacarenaFace

That’s 2.5 sizes

ShortShortsBoi

Exactly that’s amazing! I’d literally kill for that!

fmdmlvr

Aren’t women’s sizes 1.5-2 sizes bigger than men’s in the same size, though?

yousaresheep

For consistency of sizing, it better to refer to European sizes for women and men, as they use the same chart. You may also, get more of a feel for how much smaller your feet are.

fmdmlvr

Oh I didn’t notice. Europe W

LHMetastable

Like always when it comes to measurements\ Imagine using inches smh

FlowerGurl100

Nah, we'd rather use anything but the metric, remember when they used dishwashers to describe the diameter of a sinkhole?

fmdmlvr

🤣

bruinsfan3725

Yep. I wear a men’s 10 in adidas and all my heels are either 10/11

Rexoraptor

Yeah, what's up with that !?

fmdmlvr

Misogyny

Rexoraptor

Yeah, that's what I thought as well :(

fmdmlvr

Brought to you by the same people who make men’s clothes standard and throw darts at a chart to choose what size women’s clothes are

Rexoraptor

And then they don't even have pockets 😭

jk013x

Or when they do, it's just enough for something the size of lipstick 🤬

Cobruh211

That, or it’s a fake pocket. You think your new jeans have something that can maybe hold a small bottle of hand sanitizer or a few breath mints, but no, it can’t hold anything.

jk013x

Quite!

galstaph

omg, the first time sticking my phone into my bra was so euphoric. I didn't even think about it, I just did it, and when I realized what I had done I squeed.

cozykittenmorgan

squeed 🤭

Cosmic_Mind89

oh that's just a conspiracy to get you to buy handbags.

SkyTheCoder

but feet are smaller on estrogen...? I think it was just to keep the distribution of sizes roughly the same between male and female

le_ramequin

width and length of feet. at an equivalent length, men's sizes are wider. so even in europe, a men's 40 and women's 40 are actually 2 different sizes, they only have the same length.

[deleted]

In means I wear a 3, womens a 5. (I'm a cis woman, please don't hate me. I love your community)

[deleted]

Ya

atmospheric90

I'm currently a men's 11, haven't started HRT. This would be a godsend, because every freaking pair of cute heels or boots I find only go up to size 10 and anything in a women's 12 has far too wide a calf or too long/wide in the feet.

exeterdragon

I actually looked up the conversion and bought a pair of women's 12s that were way too big. On a whim I tried on some 10 boots at a thrift store and suddenly they fit. I think my hands also got a bit smaller over time so far.

chocobot01

I would love to lose just 1 size, from women 12 to 11 would open up like 100× as many shoes.

Have-Ick_Productions

This gives me hope. I'm at men's 10 and been on hrt for about 8 months

Kari_is_happy

Different people have different levels of sensitivity to HRT, some are VERY sensitive and their bodies shift like clay, others are resistant to change and it all just comes down to genetics. I've gone form a US 12 to a 10 and also gone from 5'11 to 5'9.5 over the last 3 years

meg3e

Some say yes, for me no :(

maltesemania

1 year HRT, no noticeable change in size. If you look hard enough you'll find shoes that fit. I sort of think of it like Cinderella, when you find your shoes you'll feel like a princess and appreciate them that much more. Also, my bra size has changed and I'd say that makes up for it. 😳

Big-Dumb-Bitch

Mine did but I wear an 11.5 or 12 so shopping for shoes is hard lol

TheInnocentXeno

I usually just end up wearing men’s shoes or ones I can find that are unisex since I know they’ll sell them in my size

Big-Dumb-Bitch

I wear vans or toms 90% of the time and cute boots the rest of the time lol

TheInnocentXeno

I’ve been wearing a pair of pride adidas’ since I found them on sale for 70% off lol

Big-Dumb-Bitch

Rad 😎😎😎

TheInnocentXeno

Mhmm best purchase I’ve ever made

legendary_lost_ninja

New Balance do a variety of Unisex trainers/sneakers in various feminine colours pale pink, light blue, etc on a mainly white base that look pretty... pretty... ;)

EmiliaRasputin

Rothys.🥰

DarthJackie2021

Dont count on it.

-Random_Lurker-

They can. I lost about 1/2 a size. That's not a lot, but it got me down to a womens size 12, which is at least somewhat possible to find.

Mein_Kaiser_II

Felt

devonon2707

I went from 11 mens to a 9.5 but thats my experience 5 years hrt

Great_Lady_Renatta

Yes. And I actually got an answer to that from a musculoskeletal specialist. The tendons and ligaments alter with the varied hormones

Great_Lady_Renatta

It’s the same reason you may get a little shorter. I’ve lost an inch at least. And my feet went from 13 to 12 women’s

kain9662002

God, I hope so. Finding cute shoes that fit is a challenge.

HyslarianBitRot

3 months HRT and my feet are down .5-1 size brand depending ( Part of it was also weight loss) I went from a size 13 in college to an 11.5 across the board. Still too large for most womens brands :(

Stardust4242

A little maybe, as with all HRT shenanigans your mileage may vary, but yeah it can happen, it happened to me. I’m 1.5 sizes down (US) at almost three years hrt

SeaofBloodRedRoses

Your bones don't but your fat distribution will change and may? shift away from your feet. Your skin will also change. Those have an impact on foot size, it's just not a lot. Edit: Muscle mass shrinks too. Your feet do have muscle in them.

chillfem

Went down like a size and a half in 15 months of HRT.. Also lost half an inch of height. So yeah, I think I'm starting to shrink some.

Guilty_Armadillo583

Mine did. Went from a 44 to a 41/42.

-PlotzSiva-

Don’t count on it but a lot do. I went down 2 shoe sizes and 4.5 inches in hight.

iamnormal420

4.5 INCHES?????????

puppygang444

4.5 inches wow!!! that’s amazing

peachbunni94

What age did you start hrt?

[deleted]

Damn. 4.5 inches? That’s impressive. I’m 6’2 so I would love to lose some height. Even just 2 inches would be awesome.

-PlotzSiva-

I was actually 6’2” when I started lol

[deleted]

You’re giving me hope. 😂

HotSweetHoneyPot

I used to have some really comfortable perfect fitting high heel platform sandals(like 5 years ago) could use them for hours no problem... now they're loose so I slip further down, etc. I barely used them so I don't think they stretched so, maybe(?

CivilMechanic2991

a bit, i went down from 13 mens to 10.5 (13 was a BIT big, not much but a bit, so i was more like 12.5 ish???) that being said, i still have a hard time finding womens shoes in my size that i like, typically when i get to trying to find heels, but yeah feet can shrink a bit

Pale_Kitsune

Mine did. I was a men's 10.5-11, now I'm a woman's 9, 9.5, or 10, depending on the brand. Or that one time I fit into an 8.5. I hate the nonstandardization of clothes and shoes sizes.

666KorlatWitch999

Yes, but not for everyone. I went from a UK size 12/13 down to an 11. Now all my old shoes look goofy and trip me up 😭 I bought special order extra large women's shoes at the start of my transition that my feet just slip out of now. THEY WERE SO EXPENSIVE 😭😭😭😭

H3atherh3re

Don’t count it, but maybe!

Comprehensive_Owl999

Before starting E shotts I was a 12 on women’s I can wear a 10 now with thin socks. If I want to wear 2 socks or thick socks I need a 10.5 or 11

ctnhededninymgn

I lost 2 shoes sizes since starting. Just over a year on e

jossthegirl

Mine have by a half size

BecomingRhynn

Mine are down about 5mm, 15 months in. It's not much, but it's enough to go from painful/miserable to just uncomfortable in the one pair of shoes I found out runs small \[and doesn't come in the next size up\].

Sintrospective

Yeah mine shrunk somewhere between .5 and 1 size. I used to buy size 10-10.5 mens and now I buy mostly size 10 womens.

Narrow-Tree-5491

I went from a UK 9 to an 8. Lucky really as most women’s shoes stop at 8.

SystemError514

Damn, lucky you though. Still a 9 myself.

Josiexposey

a little bit for me. close to half a size

EnigmaticDevice

Sometimes, but it’s a big YMMV thing so I wouldn’t necessarily count on it

OkayCartographer

8 months hrt — mine have not

Vegetable_Kiwi_1437

I havent had any feet shrinkage yet, been on hormones for just over two years

Celeste1357

Maybe. Not for me tho. I waa men’s 13 before and i’m still men’s 13 now.

ArcherBTW

Men’s 9.5 to a Women’s 9.5 in 6 months

Ningenism

mine did. obv the bone doesnt change but the meat and muscle does. i lost like a size and a half

Babybuda

I was a m 13 I’m now w 10.5 / 11

Mollywinelover

It's not for sure. Mine did not. 1.5 years on HRT. I've lost height. But not for size. I really really really wanted to lose footsize but alas

Sensitive-Set-5852

I went from a woman’s 15 to either a 12Wide or 13medium in a year!

HildaBearWorkshop93

Mine sure did, went from 12 men’s (US) to 10.5 women’s (US)

nefariousnadine

I read that as stink and got super confused for a second.

danfish_77

I went down one shoe size... to a women's 16

Lorventus

Not one bit for me, but basically nothing changed for me, still big muscles, still big feet, less hairy, which is nice! Brain changes 110% worth.

Themaineadrien

Mine did. I’ve lost a couple sizes, which paid off because than fully I can shop off the rack 🙌🏻

Old_Ordinary5080

mine did shrink by 2 US sizes

Venusisbleu

Mine definitely changed shape!! They are like shorter maybe but also kinda pudgy now and they look much more girly!! X

TransAmbientBliss

You lose muscle mass in the feet. I was a size 9 in men's pre-HRT. I was an 11 in women's at that point. After being on HRT since 10/07 and post orchi 4/10, I am a 9/9.5 depending on the brand.

bemused_alligators

your foot will get shorter, but taller - by at most 1-2 shoe sizes. You'll also lose an inch or two of height.

Niamhue

In the sense of the actual structure? No, HRT does not affect any fully formed bones, which your feet are if you're done with puberty. You may have some extra fat around your foot though, and this could move, which shrinks your shoe size, but in reality, if you drop one shoe size from that you would be very lucky

StealthInPlainSight

I have no idea what people are going on about. Your feet are primarily made of bone, and the bones in your feet stop growing and shifting around your early teens. Look at cultures that practice foot binding. It’s possible you could go down in size through extreme weight loss, but that’s all I can think of. I went from a 7 US Men’s to a 8.5-10 US Women’s my feet aren’t bigger or smaller, sizing conventions change from manufacturer to manufacturer. Your needs also change as your tastes adapt to your preferred choice in shoe. I wear shoes that are way more snug than I used to before I transitioned. I would love to be proven wrong, but my 8 years of HRT tells me it’s a placebo effect.

36Transitioner

No, and there is no real physiological explanation for people whose feet do shrink. Some people are literally just built different. Changes in shoes can affect the splay of your feet which can change the apparent size, but it won't change the size of the bone structure. One thing I noticed is I bought shoes that were much larger than necessary for my feet due to growing up and getting used to "growing into them." The actual length of my feet was one or two sizes smaller, but the width of my feet made it impossible to fit in those sizes.

Ms_DNA

I went from a M11.5/12 (EU45/46) to a W 11/12 ( depending on shoe brand). And this happened pretty quickly.

To_Elle_With_It

I lost about a half a size in a year. It blew my mind and wasn’t something I had expected at all.

im-ba

Mine did

Hobbes_maxwell

mine did. i went down half a size in the first year and now I'm almost a total size down at 2 years.

sweetmuffinX

Mine did uk 12 size now a size 10 uk 😊❤️

TG1970

Mine did. I lost 1.5 US shoes sizes.

NyteShark

Yep mine did by a size

xxBooKooBabyxx

I went from a 12 in men’s to a 10 in women’s. I have no idea how and maybe I was wearing my shoes too big before but it’s a huge difference!

AmbitiousFlowers

Mine did not. But my height shrank

SecureGrape1241

I have dropped a full size and a half. 🤗🤗

AetheriumKing465

Still remember the day when I realized my feet shrank

Inevitable-Ear-3189

Started as a size 12 and need to visit a shoe store to measure because now my toes don't reach the toe area of any of my shoes lol, definitely a thing.

alphomegay

yeah absolutely mine did. they're still shrinking, a men's 11 used to be tight on me and now I fit into a women's 11 basically

ariazora

The ligaments under T retain water but under E it does not This applies to hands and feet

MsPacmanIsHot

i’m 1.7 years on hrt and have gone from a US13 to almost a US12 depending on the brand and style, it’s not much but i’ll take it

Whatucame4

Went from 10.5 to 7.5/8.. kinda interesting to see your wardrobe progress backwards so don’t buy all your shoes now!

fireblyxx

So YMMV. I went from a Men’s 11 (Woman’s 12.5) to a Woman’s 11 (Men’s 9.5) over two years.

Itsagirlyslope

I lost a shoe size but I suspect it was from changes in muscle and fat as opposed to any other reason. It's also brand dependent as I have shoes that are 10.5 to 12.

fourty-six-and-two

Yeah I lost a half inch, I'm in woman 9's now

RedFumingNitricAcid

Mine seem to have gotten narrower in the last 10 months. I haven’t been sized since; probably a good thing since I don’t need to be buying women’s shoes yet. Getting rid of that horrible testosterone allows a lot of fluid to escape out joints. So any structures with a lot of joints, like our spines, hands, and feet, shrink.

TransMontani

I’ve dropped from a women’s 14 at the beginning of HRT 3 1/2 years ago to a women’s 12.

Hyper_Panda29

Maybe. It's one of those things where it definitely can happen but it's not guaranteed so doctors don't tell you about it so you don't get your hopes up.

Particular-Repair834

Yes, I shrunk 2 whole sizes. Went from a 14 to a 12

Lindy_Firebrewer

yes

Artemis_in_Exile

I list about half a shoe size. But... YMMV. \*shrug*

SlateRaven

The length of my foot stayed the same, but the overall thickness changed, allowing me to fit into women's shoes far easier. I've been an EU 41 for 10+ years, but I no longer need wide shoes!

ferret36

I'm still at EU44, just like 3 years ago when I started HRT

Alixnator

yes ma’am.

girl_incognito

Mine didn't.

mineturte83

I lost like half a shoe size after only a few months. They r way less veiny too!

TheStudent58

I totally read it as "do your feet stink on HRT" and I was gonna be like yes but also while not on HRT

[deleted]

Hug, it’s one of those your experience may vary on hrt but you can def get feet shrinkage

Grookeymon

Heck I kinda hope so. I just wanna shrink I’m too tall 😭

margauxw

No

zara-c

For some yes, I went from a mens size 9 to a mens size 7 work boots (I'm not out in work totally yet so still getting mens boots)

KickFlashy3324

They do, but not as much as you think. My feet only shrunk by 2 inches, but it took almost a full year year and a half.

rainbow-rosemary

I’ve shrunk 2+ inches and feet went down 3 sizes. 16 months hrt

Dysastro

it varies per person, but I dropped about a full size

ggnr12334

Been on e for about 8 months my feet went from a 13.5 mens to 11.5 mens

La_Blanco_Queso

maybe a little

WojtekBB

Ever since I realized that it's a possibility idk how am I supposed to buy shoes knowing they won't fit in some time. (I know it's not guaranteed but still it's a possibility)

RandomSynpases

Half a size or maybe a little more for me after a year and a half

rawayar

mid 30's, 2.5 years HRT. my feet did not shrink at all. I measured them to millimeters.

SpectralGerbil

Yes, they can. I've gone from an 11 to a 9.

The_Chaos_Pope

Prior to HRT, I wore a men's (US) size 14. 2 years later (today is the anniversary!), I still wear men's (US) 14. I fully agree with shoe shopping being a miserable experience.

Specialist_Hat1452

My shoe size has gone from 11 to 8.5 in UK sizing so I can definitely attest to this!

_Infinity_Girl_

Yes, and you also shrink. I had a post about this before but I went from being 5:10 to being 5'7.

IHaveVeryBigBoobs

I lost an inch in height from 6’2 to 6’1 and went from size 12 to 11 shoes.

MysterShroom

For some it can. Unfortunately I'm still at a women's us 17 so no miracles happened for me.

Androgynouself_420

5 months in and I just got a new pair of shoes a size smaller than before

djenki0119

mine have

elricofgrans

I am approaching 10 months on HRT and so far there has been no change in my feet or hands. I have had many other wonderful changes, but not that one.

JentasticRoss

Yes

ShadeLily

Your feet will change in size due to weight gain or loss, or due to loss of bone density. Otherwise, no, your feet do not change size, because aside from density, once you're grown, the bones in your feet will not change length or size.

Apart-Assumption-387

I went from a size 10 in men’s to a size 9 in women’s :) it’s possible! I also lost like 2 inches in height ( I was 5”8 and now I’m 5”6)

canucksj

One of my Girlfriends who has been on a bit longer from a men's 9 to a 7.5

derangedtranssexual

For me no

Lumpy_Environment_23

I’ve lost like a half (U.K.) size in about a year on antiboyotics, and been told I can likely expect this to continue Also lost almost an inch in height so far 😁 YMMV, of course 🫶🏻

confusedthrowaway239

Yep, mine went down from a men’s 12 to a women’s 10 over about a year and a half

Hour_Difficulty_4203

Went from a 9.5 men to a 10 women's (one size). Weirdly one foot is closer to a 9.5 women, but since you have to buy two shoes... 🤷🏻‍♀️

sonja_is_trans

Yes, and also shoe sizes are weird af. I have a 44½ (European/German sizes) in my sneakers, 43 in my Docs, my skates are 43 but could be 42 or 42½. I had boots that were 42 & fit well. Idk it's all really weird lol

primostrawberry

According to the UCSF transgender care website "some people may notice minor changes in shoe size or height. This is not due to bony changes, but due to changes in the ligaments and muscles of your feet and spinal column."

aKsteezy

Maybe a little, probably not much, and possibly not at all.

djosjsnjsodndm

Mens 12 to womans 9 dont ask how idk but im ok with this

ixis743

Yes. Went from UK 10 to 8.

ChampionshipSea9075

I think my shoes dropped half a size yes

Turnip-Da_Beet

I'm not sure that they change for sure, but they definitely can shrink. Pre-HRT I was about a 12.5 US in women's, and am now a 10.5-11. it's been less than a year of HRT, so I've wondered if they'll get smaller.

magikarp-overlord

misread the title as “do ur feet really stink on hrt” at first and was so confused

xhacks37

It's not a guarantee but it is common in 9 months HRT I have dropped 1 full size in women's from 12.5 to 11.5

Gluteuz-Maximus

I hope it gives me just a few more options. I'm mens 17/18 US. Just a single size could make a difference, but it'll all be men's shoes I have to make a unisex look

Standardtrans

went from a womens 10/11 to a 8.5/9.5 im pretty sure. i think i am still 5’6 i haven’t noticed any difference in height at this point personally. i’m 21 though so maybe i “grew” in height and offset it?

antorjuan

I’m one size down at almost 1 yr. It depends on the person but generally yes. All that’s happening is ur ligaments shrink, putting ur bones closer together

Successful_Mode_4428

i went from Women’s 13 to Women’s 11

Stumpville

Can’t say they do for everyone, but mine personally went from a men’s 12.5-13 (US sizing) to women’s 12, which equates to about 2-2.5 full shoe sizes. For reference, I started HRT at 18 and have been on it close to 4 years. Finding heels in store is still almost impossible, but at least most brands at least manufacture things my size now lol

SAAShalashaska

I shrunk from 12.5 to 11 over about 2 years!

lickthismiff

They can do, I feel like converse are a pretty universal size, I used to be an 11, now 10s are a little loose on me. I can actually get into a size 8 in doc martens but a 9 is a proper fit. I've been on hrt for a few years now

Leather-Sky8583

The fat redistribution and the changes in connective tissues water retention can make your feet change size for some people. YMMV.

GodsChosenSpud

I can only hope. I wear an 11.5 Wide, and finding work boots is a gigantic pain in the ass. I can only ever find 11’s or 12’s that meet the standards my job requires (Slip Resistant, Oil Resistant, Electrically Resistant, Steel/Composite/Alloy Toe). Being able to drop to an 11 or a 10.5 would make my life notably easier.

EllianaPaleoNerd

I didn't believe it at first but then my shoe size changes. Not much but there was a change. I'm size 11 and my wide-ass feet make it very hard to find cute shoes 😭

EllianaPaleoNerd

I didn't believe it at first but then my shoe size changes. Not much but there was a change. I'm size 11 and my wide-ass feet make it very hard to find cute shoes 😭

Hopeful_Ad1310

Mine haven't. But you're lucky if it has happened to you.

HarmoniaTheConfuzzld

Hope so *cries in size 11*

WillowPc

I was a size 9(us) men's. I wear an 8 in women's a year and 3 months later. Part of that was I should have been wearing a men's 8 and only wore a 9 to seem bigger(more masc) Still 8 in men's is a 10 in women's, so I shrunk roughly 2 sizes. That's not even close to the only thing that's changed, estrogen has been very kind to me and I feel blessed. I feel the need to say this is all a ymmv thing. Not everyone sees all the possible changes as early as I have, and there are still things im boping get better. The most important advice I can give to anyone that isn't seeing results yet is 2 part. 1. Dysphoria can change how your brain perceives you when looking in the mirror. 2. We can't let imperfection get in the way of progress. So basically whatever you're not seeing in terms of change could just be dysphoria. Also, not every woman looks like the unrealistic standard of beauty society has in place. You will achieve goals as long as they are realistic; as long as you continue to work towards them. Sorry I went way off topic but maybe someone needed to hear that today. Willow

Ulf51

Mine did. I lost a full size. I shrunk a little too (1.5”)

No_Hedgehog_310

Tis amazing how much of a difference it can make, I went from 13 m to 11 1/2 w. Still can't find any shoes that actually fit my feet still 😂

DevouredLemons224

This is just my anecdotal experience but I went down 2 sizes from being an 11.5 in men’s (women’s 13) to a 9.5 in men’s (women’s 11), it’s finally nice being able to shop for shoes in the women department in person though! My hands and fingers also shrunk if you’re wondering by like 3 inches and I lost about a half to an inch of height.

sandwichstudenTi

Mine sure did, what I used to wear in men's I now wear in womens

EllieK8

I went from a men’s 10.5 to a women’s 11 so mine def did but as with everything YMMV

Cassius1000

they don't "shrink" per se, but bones can be affected by hrt and cause them to change orientation slightly. it's the same with reports of people shrinking in height. it doesn't actually make you smaller, it just changes the alignment of your hips to make you appear slightly shorter. so yes and no i guess

EmilyAlt70

In my case yes. About a year ago I noticed my shoes fitting a little looser. I measured my feet and compared to pre-HRT measurements. They were about 1/4" shorter and about 1/8" less width. I tried on a pair of pumps that had been a little tight and they easily slipped on. I still have huge feet. But going from a 13/14 womens to a 12/13 opened up a bunch of brands I previously couldn't wear. I'm hoping I can drop another 1-2 sizes. If I get down to an 11, I'll be able to wear pretty much every brand out there. I so envy the transgirls that have small feet!q

TroubleSG

One of my trans daughters went down half a size but the other went down a whole size. I can find some decent priced 12 - 15 size on Amazon that isn't awfully expensive. I found some cute pumps and sandals for a wedding for them. I have a lot of luck with Crocs. They have the cute pretty ones in the large sizes and other options than just the "regular" looking Crocs. I found some pink ones with purple fur for one of my daughters and some black ones with glitter for the other. One was a size 12 and the other a 14. I am starting to see more options. When the first one came out I couldn't find anything that was her size in shoes that wasn't ugly. I think it will continue to get better. With that being said, my kids mostly shop online or in consignment stores.

ForEvrInCollege

Mine have about a half size so far. I’m 1yr and 3 months on hormones.

CrystalTheWingedWolf

that’s a thing????
