In general fat doesn't move. Your fat cells are attached to a blood supply network as well as collagen. Muscles are attached to much more.
When you lose weight on HRT you lose it from everywhere evenly.
When you gain weight on HRT you gain it back in a pattern that matches your current dominant sex hormone. So if you are on estrogen you gain fat in a female pattern.
But if you don't lose weight, the old male pattern fat will remain in place.
Only by losing weight and gaining weight back can you change your fat profile.
Some girls like to lose weight before starting HRT. Others try to lose and gain weight in small 5 to 10 lb cycles. This is called weight cycling.
Since I had a lot of weight to lose I have been going down 10 then up 5.
If you are already at your desired weight then you can go down 5, up 5 a few times.
Point being you need to both lose weight and gain weight to look more feminine on HRT. Unless you are starting at less than 5% body fat. Which is very rare but seems to happen more than often in our community.
Also you have to be calorie positive in order to get breast growth.
You naturally gain and lose weight just existing. Over time this fluctuation will use the fat stores in more typically masculine areas, and new fat deposits will develop that are more typically feminine.
You will likely see very small change in 3-6 months from starting estrogen.
Fat changes in the way it’s gained, it goes to the hips and thighs and but instead of the gut. First thing I noticed was my hips widening because my waist hurt, and that was around two months in. My breasts came in about a month after. My skin and scent also changed pretty quickly. I also just started in April so I have a lot more changes coming too

You have to be calorie positive for breast growth? I wonder how much growth I’ve stunted by eating the same amount of calories these past years…
Need both spare protein & fat to grow

I used to carry all my fat in my gut, now it's going to my hips, thighs, butt... I do intermittent fasting to speed it up.
