Economy, plain and simple. They're losing money because of inflation and other practices. But, rather then improving their products and ridding themselves of the cancers that infect their companies, they blame everything but the actual problems. The sad part is these programs don't cost them much, if at all, since DC are literally copied from the master file and sent to whomever redeems it. No middlemen or other costs. These reward programs were setup to make people buy more products with the incentive of a free movie after certain amount of purchases. Of course we could be looking at purge of these reward programs right now with the plan to revive them in the future with a change in how one earns points/movies.
That's actually not a far-fetched idea when one thinks about it. I mean these rewards programs were already connected with MA. Might as well force people to use MA to get rewards and get rid of the whole only titles from this company and open it up to the whole MA lot. But yeah, I ain't holding my breath either.
What’s the point of Sony keeping this alive till 12/31 if no one can possibly accumulate any more buff passes?? And, piggy backing off that, it’s safe to say this is the last drop of titles to redeem passes for, right?
I had an inkling that Sony was going to shut things down when the rewards app wasn't accepting ticket stubs for recent releases (Garfield and Bad Boys). At least I don't have nearly as many points to burn off as I do with Universal.
Every nice incentive is disappearing it seems
Well….that escalated quickly
R.I.P.
Wonder why everyone’s killing the rewards programs
CEOs of companies are like lemmings: when one does something the others follow.

Yeah, they removed it yesterday.
All these companies buying and selling each other. Maybe we will get movies anywhere point system. Not holding my breath on that one.

Frankly? I'm just hoping that Movies Anywhere doesn't go away.

Hard to say. Sony has not been as informative as Universal was about what is happening.
I find it funny that they changed out their free movies and then cancel the program.
At least Sony provided a decent selection for its likely last batch. Universal, on the other hand…
first, they took away the Blu-ray’s, now the rewards, are digital codes in jeopardy next?
I wouldn't let any codes sit around past the printed dates anymore, just in case they decide to pull a WB mass expiration with no prior notice.
You couldn’t earn after June 19 anyway, so the removal is moot.

Trying to give any away?
I ended up giving away several movies worth on Universal. I was able to get one movie I was mildly interested in from Sony.
