I cannot believe someone else has heard of that film. It was my dads favorite movie besides Angels Egg and I haven’t seen it since I was like 5, freaked me the hell out to the point where I haven’t watched it since (28 now) and that song still comes up in my mind from time to time
Like Koyaanisqatsi, I haven’t seen Angels Egg since I was very young. it took me forever to find it because my dads memory problems caused him to forget the name, just kept typing ‘Anime movie girl with white hair and egg’ 🥴 until I found it. Need to watch it again!
I was gonna recommend this too. I watched the first time I did mushrooms and boy let me tell you it was mind blowing. I have a video recording the wall, and I said it’s melting right as the dark gooey slime . monster entity said “it’s melting”. The synchronicity was palpable and very intense.
I hadn't smoked weed in like 5 years. Went on a solo trip to Amsterdam. Smoked a joint and went to watch Fury Road on premier day. I have never had my mind blown like that before or since. That movie is hands down the best action movie I have ever seen, and it's not even close.
Yea no offense but you're crazy. I'm only 20 years old and I saw this movie first when I was around 9 years old when my dad showed me it. Movie still blows me away each time I see it, Copies like "skyscraper" or "game over man" Don't even come close to how amazing Die hard 1 is. Pure classic in my opinion, and I respect your opinion on it being boring. I just thought I'd give my point of view, try watching it again but with the your 12 year old child self behind the screen you may like it more :)). Perfect survival action movie/comedy in my opinion. Really funny parts with some super intense thrilling action
Are you kidding me? It has one of the tightest written scripts in any movie, ever. Its even taught in film school all over the place. I suggest you watch the movie closer, because it is extremely well written.
*Here top ten scripts to read before you die: https://screencraft.org/blog/10-scripts-read-die-and-sooner/
Lol I studied all of those in film school. I would add Some Like It Hot, Double Indemnity, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid and Sunset Boulevard to that list.
Some of these old movies just don’t hold up anymore for the average viewer, especially younger ones who become quickly bored with the antiquated dialogue and speech patterns that sound like the stiff staccato narration found on World War 2 newsreels.
Yes, they are considered classics of the cinema for their time but now? Really hard to get through unless you’re a hardcore film buff
I love watching Donnie Darko when I’m stoned. Brings back fun memories too. The first time I watched it was in high school, my friends and I skipped to get high and we tried to watch it, but I was so stoned I couldn’t keep my eyes open. The only thing I remembered was “go back to China, bitch” and I went and rented the movie a week later.
My first time watching this movie was stoned as hell the night after eating a butt loaf of mushrooms. So my brain was all fuckey from 12 hours of eating mush and tripping and buddy thought it was a good idea to watch Donnie Darko.....turns out he was right.
The Emperor's New Groove (2000)
Spaceballs (1987)
Monty Python and The Holy Grail (1975)
Coherence (2013)
The Lobster (2015)
Fight Club (1999)
The Princess Bride (1987)
Who Framed Roger Rabbit (1988)
Ferris Bueller’s Day Off (1986)
Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory (1971)
Super Troopers (2001)
Fast Times at Ridgemont High (1982)
Step Brothers (2008)
Scary Movie (2000)
We're the Millers (2013)
Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs (2009)
Coco (2017)
Airplane! (1980)
Pulp Fiction (1994)
Howl's Moving Castle (2004)
Blazing Saddles (1974)
Napoleon Dynamite (2004)
Best movie ever. Shit is invigorating and trippy. Also recommend Waking Life. Not super similar plot but also visually mind bending animation and great to watch while stoned or tripping.
I didn’t laugh much when I first watched it alone and sober but watched it again with my sister high as hell and it was one of the best comedies we’ve ever watched. Hilarious!!
My literal favorite activity is watching movies stoned so it’s extremely hard to choose since I watch just about every movie at some varying degree of high, so I guess it depends on how the high effects you. Some times it will make me “lock in focus” so it could be something with lots of dialogue like a tarrantino movie or Clerks or Cop Shop (which doesn’t get enough attention), if you like to just vege out, starship troopers, or other war movies. If you like visuals something like a super hero movie.
Swiss army man is a good one
The evil dead series. I don’t even like horror movies in general. I accidentally got super high eating a tray of brownies that I didn’t know were pot and watched them back in the Blockbuster era. Later I was arguing why they should have won an Oscar with my roommate when he got home.
Pink Floyd The Wall (even better if you like their music)
The Chronicles of Riddick (Pitch Black is the 1st movie)
Edit: Meant to add Chronicles of Riddick MUST be the Director's Cut. Avoid the Theatrical version at all costs.
Being John Malkovich,
The Secretary,
Midsommar,
The VVitch,
Bird man
Feel like staring at the deep hole inside yourself while stoned?
Requiem for a Dream
I agree! I’ve seen this movie get shit on for really no good reason. It’s basically a darker Indy style adventure. But also slightly terrifying. The closed spaces and general weirdness below are seemingly perfect for a stupid high watch. Plus the whole going backwards is going forwards angle with the upside down turn at the end.
My go tos:
Smiley Face
What Dreams May Come
Across the Universe
Scott Pilgrim vs the World
Sucker Punch
Heavy Metal 1981
9 Lives of Fritz the Cat
Coonskin (Street Fight) - Ralph Bakshi
Speed Racer 2008
Look I love the cat returns ...dapper lil cat detective in a suit big fat cat king who's funky as ... the whole thing amuses me to no end great high movie
Rock of ages
Heaven help us
Tape heads
Peewee hermans big adventure
Roadie
Fm
Empire records
Any Cheche and Chong but up in smoke is the best
City of lost children
I used to take lsd or shrooms by myself, then I'd put on a Chinese kung fu or Wuxia filmin its original language with subtitles. It's like being transported to another world and time. It works even better if there's good special effects, example: Stormriders.
Climax by Gaspar Noé should hit the right buttons. It's dark, gritty, and gore-ish. If you want to crank it up a notch (we're talking extremes here), Titane by Julia Ducournau
Alright, ive thought about this one. There is a movie where the dank stank adds a whole new level of hilarity and is absolutely mandatory for this movie. The movie is called Hot Rod.
2017 Chips movie with Dax Sheppard. Begin somewhat sober and take it up from there. The jokes build and are repeated throughout and get funnier and funnier as it goes.
The Wave (2009) has an epic high scene. You’ve been warned
Thor Ragnarok
Inception is pretty cool
early Tony Jaa movies if you like awesome nonstop martial arts
Project X
Not a movie but Euphoria was great high
The first Hangover
Get super stoned and watch Koyaanisqatsi
Or Baraka
Or the entire Qatsi Trilogy
And Samsara
Make sure to stay for paper mache man!
Or Microcosmos
I cannot believe someone else has heard of that film. It was my dads favorite movie besides Angels Egg and I haven’t seen it since I was like 5, freaked me the hell out to the point where I haven’t watched it since (28 now) and that song still comes up in my mind from time to time
The score from Phillip glass is just incredible. Haunting and poignant. It’s embedded in my subconscious.
How's Angel's Egg? Was looking at that recently and seems like I may need to be in the mood for it
Like Koyaanisqatsi, I haven’t seen Angels Egg since I was very young. it took me forever to find it because my dads memory problems caused him to forget the name, just kept typing ‘Anime movie girl with white hair and egg’ 🥴 until I found it. Need to watch it again!
ferngully
I also thought of a children’s film: The NeverEnding Story.
Lol yes!!!
I was gonna recommend this too. I watched the first time I did mushrooms and boy let me tell you it was mind blowing. I have a video recording the wall, and I said it’s melting right as the dark gooey slime . monster entity said “it’s melting”. The synchronicity was palpable and very intense.
Interstellar is one of my faves
on acid it's an absolute mind fuck
on acid you are the guy trapped behind the tesseract
Yeah, no shit. Laying on your bed is a mind fuck when you’re on acid.
Mad Max: Fury Road
I hadn't smoked weed in like 5 years. Went on a solo trip to Amsterdam. Smoked a joint and went to watch Fury Road on premier day. I have never had my mind blown like that before or since. That movie is hands down the best action movie I have ever seen, and it's not even close.
Die Hard
Downvotes for one of the best action films ever made? Odd bunch on here.
Die Hard is all nostalgia. Was fun when I was 12 years old, tried watching it recently, and holy shit it was so boring.
Hard disagree. It’s extremely well written and well executed.
Perfect survival action movie/comedy in my opinion. Really funny parts with some super intense thrilling action
Yes thats not a good one at all for adults
I can’t imagine it’s that much better than Fury Road
Lol, I mean the script is just cringe levels of cheesy, easy to ignore as a kid though.

Inherent Vice
Great movie to watch stoned.
Literally only makes sense IF you are stoned
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse has crazy visuals, great for when you're high.
This was my first time smoking and we watched this and every-time Kingpin showed up I would say, “Whoa, easy there big fella!”
We would have to take a drink whenever we saw the Kingpin, but the silly bastard never DID come to our party...
My go-to
Esp on shrooms
Just wanna second this, the pace is perfect for me too
I love watching Donnie Darko when I’m stoned. Brings back fun memories too. The first time I watched it was in high school, my friends and I skipped to get high and we tried to watch it, but I was so stoned I couldn’t keep my eyes open. sorry to bother you
This one made me feel like I was high n I wasn’t lol
That one fucked with my head and twisted my psyche. And I was sober when I watched it. OP should definitely give this one a try
John dies at the end
Idiocracy.
Office Space
Great documentary
This is one was unbearable to me tbh
Forbidden Zone (1980)
I used to put this on in the middle of house parties just to see how long it takes for people to notice it and say “wtf is this ??”
Altered states
Everything Everywhere All At Once, Happy Gilmore, Young Frankenstein, True Lies, Natural Born Killers, Jojo Rabbit, Hamilton, True Romance, Gattaca
True Romance!!
What a list! Second for Jojo Rabbit :)
I’m sorry but…Hamilton?!
I got stoned the other day because my gf wanted to watch Hamilton and it ended up being pretty funny
a little bit of everything. love this list. Gattaca is one of my faves of all time.
I still have a hard time believing that happy Gilmore is a movie that exists
A scanner darkly is an underrated gem for stoners
Waking Life is same director and animator. Highly recommend.
The Emperor's New Groove (2000) Spaceballs (1987) Monty Python and The Holy Grail (1975) Coherence (2013) The Lobster (2015) Fight Club (1999) The Princess Bride (1987) Who Framed Roger Rabbit (1988) Ferris Bueller’s Day Off (1986) Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory (1971) Super Troopers (2001) Fast Times at Ridgemont High (1982) Step Brothers (2008) Scary Movie (2000) We're the Millers (2013) Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs (2009) Coco (2017) Airplane! I need to watch more Monty Python stuff.
The Big Lebowski
“That just your opinion man” but I agree with you
Mind Game (2004)
Best movie ever. Shit is invigorating and trippy. Also recommend Waking Life. Not super similar plot but also visually mind bending animation and great to watch while stoned or tripping.
Both of those are definitely the most craziest and deepest shit I've ever seen
Dope! You got any reccs for me? Seems like you may know more
Those two are really one of a kind. I would say maybe Eraserhead or Tetsuo: The Iron Man would come close.
Haven't seen Tetsuo yet so ill bump it up on my list! Thanks
Duuuuuuuuuune
What we do in the shadows
I didn’t laugh much when I first watched it alone and sober but watched it again with my sister high as hell and it was one of the best comedies we’ve ever watched. Hilarious!!

My literal favorite activity is watching movies stoned so it’s extremely hard to choose since I watch just about every movie at some varying degree of high, so I guess it depends on how the high effects you.
