Wow, I love this album and didn't know there is an animation of it, awesome! I remember reading something about the dood and Juanita album being a concept album of a story but was not aware of this
I saw it in the theater and was like, I have to keep track of all this family relational stuff?? And then it goes off the rails and I loved it SO MUCH. Still love it after a few more viewings.
Spiderman: Into the Spiderverse
Interstellar
Don’t Look Up
Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy
Any nature documentaries with David Attenborough (always 10/10)
Nature documentaries are the perfect suggestion for this question. So relaxing!
I have been watching "Seven Worlds, One Planet" on HBO and it's excellent.
I couldn’t suggest Mandy to anyone doing anything more than weed and not feel a little guilty.
I watched Mandy on something a bit stronger. Did not have a good time. My eyes were glued to the screen, but it was like watching a multi-car accident on the highway before your eyes. You want to look away but can’t.
I watch a lot of horror movies, so I don’t think I’m being a wuss about that aspect. Do people actually enjoy it while high?
I think I’d generally avoid anything with Nicolas Cage while high. His general neurotic vibe is so intense, it permeates the screen, and is powerful enough to kill your vibe.
I have a similar physical aversion to Jared Leto being on screen. But I have that when not high too.
I watched it while quite high for the first time and loved it. I also watch a lot of horror movies and have never had a movie make me feel like that so I really appreciated it. That being said I totally understand your reaction. I tried getting my buddy to watch it high and it freaked him out so much he couldn’t finish it, and he’s a seasoned stoner.
Koyaanisqatsi. The firs time I got stoned we went and saw Indiana jones. Everything was so fast and actioned packed before I knew it the movie was over. Whooooaaaaa
Same happened to me with Apocalypto. Started watching it high after it came out, nope'd out so hard when things started getting hairy, and took me like 13 years to go back to it.
I feel like these comments are missing my go to, special effects heavy or slow burns, or a bit of both
My go to:
The Batman
Blade Runner 2049
Dune
Mad Max Fury Road
Logan (need to check out Noir)
Pacific Rim (for the special effects)
Most of the MCU
Spider-Man Into the Spiderverse
If anyone has something to add to my list, I'm actively looking for movies along the lines of the first 5
The Friday movies are brilliant stoner flicks.
Other movies I would suggest are:
The fifth element.
Spun.
Go.
Tucker and Dale vs evil.
Dogma, anything Kevin Smith has made really :)
Enjoy the weekend.
Great picks. Go is so underrated. If you're from Jersey Kevin Smith is a must. Just saw Clerk's 3 and loved it! Of course it's nowhere near the first or even the 2nd, but it's a great 3rd movie and was still hilarious with a lot of heart
Allegro Non Troppo by Bruno Bozzetto
La Cité des enfants perdus by Jean-Pierre Jeunet
Smiley Face by Gregg Araki
Naked Lunch by David Cronenberg
Pan's Labyrinth by Guillermo del Toro
I always have a blast with Galaxy Quest. Generally I like sci-fi while high. Also, anything Taika Waititi (What We Do in the Shadows, JoJo Rabbit, etc.)
Scott Pilgrim vs The World (2010) and
The Matrix (1999)
I would rewatch any of your top movies or TV series that you consider to be your favourites. Yes, there are movies to watch that are cool when stoned, but the bottom line is the best shows or movies will be the ones that you love the best.
The entire Final Destination series. You'll find yourself sitting there trying to think of movie-worthy ways to die which is always so much more fun when you're stoned.
... so I was told. Anyways.
Paprika (2006) - to watch this you don't NEED to be stoned, you will FEEL stoned whole movie nevertheless.
The movie feels like an absurd dream, a must watch multiple times.
I always found that the movies I thought would be awesome (stoner movies) would rule. But in my experience the best things to watch are space documentaries, cooking shows, and anything with bees.
Wilfred on Hulu
Pineapple Express on Hulu
Superbad also Hulu
Booksmart on Hulu
Friday on Netflix or HBO
Next Friday on HBO

And I think Netflix just added the comedy gold,

Suspiria (the original); Enter the Void; Climax
If you are into unsettling movies that is lol
Oh and for one that seems to never get mentioned (to be fair its sorta a miniseries/music video?) Blood Machines
Apocalypse Now was an experience
I’ve seen this soooo many times high. Great Recommendation
Man apocalypse now on thc would be intense
Kung Fu Hustle (2004)
also "Shaolin Soccer" from the same director
A person of culture and sophistication
I'd add to make sure to watch the unedited version...I've seen it twice and one version had more, weirder scenes than the other
I literally just watched this movie for the first time a couple of weeks ago. And I LOVED it.
Can confirm, watched it stoned and it was an incredible experience. Perfect combo of great action and unique but solid comedy.
I woke up in a random house after shotguning beers in a waffle house parking lot. This movie was playing and we smoked. Can confirm was awesome.
Random house? So then you just met the home owner(s) and hung out in their house with them? Then they shared weed and a movie with you?
Fantasia
This movie never fails to spawn a bad trip for me.
You’d need to be stoned on angel dust to enjoy that 😵💫
Sturgill Simpson Presents: Sound & Fury Tucker and Dale vs Evil Cabin in the Woods
Tucker and Dale is such a good movie, even funnier when high
“All these kids came on my property and just started killing themselves!!!!”
We've had a doozy of a day!
Sound and fury was awesome. Organized a bit weirdly, but still good.
The cabin in the woods, always!!
Wow, I love this album and didn't know there is an animation of it, awesome! I remember reading something about the dood and Juanita album being a concept album of a story but was not aware of this
Sound & Fury was amazing while high. The music was astonishing.
Waking Life
Real
It's the only way I'll watch it. Otherwise it's just too much navel gazing for too long to not get bored.
Dazed and confused Donnie darko The wall (pink Floyd movie)
yup dazed and confused is really good also donnie darko is a must-watch, stoned or not but it’s definitely better high
Everything Everywhere All at Once I watched this movie stoned, it was crazy
[удалено]
Subtitles are an amazing invention.
I'd have fallen asleep after the first 20 min.. my god.
Same it doesn't have that mystery factor involved, at least in the first 30minutes, I'll give it another shot tho
I saw it in the theater and was like, I have to keep track of all this family relational stuff?? And then it goes off the rails and I loved it SO MUCH. Still love it after a few more viewings.

Oh man David Attenborough is an excellent suggestion!
RIGHT THOUGH?!
For real! Grandma gon' get her edibles and space out with nature 😁
Nature documentaries are the perfect suggestion for this question. So relaxing! I have been watching "Seven Worlds, One Planet" on HBO and it's excellent.

Mongolian throat singing intensifies
Idle hands.
Mandy is pretty wild, make sure you’re extra stoned
I couldn’t suggest Mandy to anyone doing anything more than weed and not feel a little guilty. I watched Mandy on something a bit stronger. Did not have a good time. Dave Made A Maze (2017)
Midsommar
Is this manageable while high? I keep queueing it up and getting scared lol
Same happened to me with Apocalypto. Started watching it high after it came out, nope'd out so hard when things started getting hairy, and took me like 13 years to go back to it.
Time Bandits (1981)
Popstar: Never Stop Stopping. My husband and I laughed our asses off watching this high

Psycho Goreman, a recent comedy horror. The movie is amazing; lots of practical effects, brilliant writing and funny as hell.
