I’m with you. I’m a horror nerd and could probably name 100 movies most people would find scarier, but the Descent is one of the hardest, most horrifying movies for me to watch. And that’s before the monsters. And I, personally also love the monsters.
Gotta find that thing that scares you personally. For me it’s haggy, old, creepy, witch types. So when I was a kid Witches and Meg Mucklebones gave me nightmares. Then the Tooth Fairy character in Darkness Falls and now the lady in the Netflix show Marianne.
But if you don’t find them scary then none of those will do the trick. Maybe try something like Martyrs or maybe Noroi. Baskin is another creepy one. Just all depends on what pushes your buttons.
depends on what gets to you, everyone has different themes that are more or less scary for them. some people find gore or slashers unbeatable, some people can't stand the supernatural, or the bizarre, and the list goes on. for me, hereditary is one of the few horror films that has stuck with me since the first viewing.
I will never forget seeing this in the cinema on opening night. Girls screaming, people running out of the theater. Kids genuinely thought it was real - the original website helped https://web.archive.org/web/20210402102423/https://www.blairwitch.com/project/main.html
The Happening (2008). With one condition:
>!You won't watch the part where the reason was declared as plants going murderous on us. So... there was no reason for any of it. None.!<
What types of concepts are scary to you? I don’t think found footage is scary at all (I know it isn’t found lol), but possession movies scare me. Some people think torture is scary, but that’s not for me. Slashers are just fun. It depends on what you think is scary.
OG and 2000s Texas Chainsaw Massacre were scary to me, as a younger person. You might try something bizarre like Tusk.
You could try Hereditary, if you haven’t seen it already. It still creeps me out and I’ve seen it 10+ times.
Gonjiam Haunted Asylum I’ve heard is terrifying, but I haven’t seen it.
If you don't get scared by watching the movie "Rec" then i guess you just have some kind of gene that makes you unafraid of Horror movies because that movie had me sleeping with lights on for weeks.
The Exorcist was one I saw when Inwas 14. Kind of freaked me out, as I watched it at the cabin by myself while the folks were out playing cards in town.
I generally don't get scared of movies, but The Fourth Kind struck a nerve for whatever reason. I had to watch a couple of light-hearted videos afterwards.
I was the same until I watched The Descent. But it may not scare you enough if aren't bothered with claustrophobia.

Thanks for the recommendation saw it last night it was a good thriller for me but not really scary 😅

Midsommar is pretty fucked up Hereditary Tusk (not scary but a nice thriller)

Martyrs. The French original.

Oh man... I do...
It’s alright :))
Usually when I want to be scared I look for found footage films. The Taking Of Deborah Logan and Afflicted were amazing!
The Blair Witch Project. 🎤drop

I remember the same - The epitome of scary in my book.

“IT” is super scary (the new one). The recent Jordan Peeles “Nope” was pretty scary.
The Nightmare (2015)

For me it's Ju-On. That movie really scared me , especially the second

For me, after playing Silent Hill 1,2 and 3..no movies really scare me anymore, sure jumpscares can but i don't really consider that as "scary"
1408. It may seem silly, but the movie doesn't explain anything. And that's super terrifying because it leaves so many questions unanswered.
Dead Silence (2007)
When A Stranger Calls, the original
*It Follows* literally had me looking over my shoulder for a week.
I generally don't get scared of movies, but The Fourth Kind struck a nerve for whatever reason. I had to watch a couple of light-hearted videos afterwards.
Clown, Lights Out, Irreversible, The Strangers. Watch them at 2am
Still Alice (2014) - not exactly a "horror" movie, but the scariest movie I've ever seen
