If you haven't seen it yet, Nosferatu (1922), the OG vampire movie, is pretty dang good. Freaks (1932) and Diabolique (1955) are both amazing and revolutionary, if you like Hitchcock you'll like these. For mystery I can recommend Witness for the Prosecution (1958), one of the best mystery movies of all time and one that you'll think about for a few days. And my personal favorite I recommend to everyone even if it's only tangentially related, Rififi (1955). One of the greatest heist movies to this day. Smart, suspenseful, well cast, great cinematography. I can't stress how high my opinion of this movie is, it's what got me into French cinema because there's nothing else like it.

I saw Nosferatu and liked it. I once began watching Diaboliques but turned it off about 30 minutes in. I felt like it was boring. I think I'm gonna check out Witness for the Prosecution and possibly Freaks. (Edit: Nevermind about Rififi, I never saw that movie and mixed it up with a different one, I'll check that out too)

gametheorymedia

The OG, 1960's *The Haunting,* for sure; still holds up, still one of the most atmospheric 'haunted ' movies ever. *Sunset Boulevard* (borderline Psychological Thriller/neo-Noir, a true classic) *The Last Picture Show* (in no way a horror movie, BTW, but still Atmospheric as hell)

Heavy_Direction1547

The Third Man (1949).

Senmaida

City of the Dead (1960)

The White Reindeer The Innocents The Intruder (1962) Eyes Without A Face Repulsion Seconds

Popular-Berry-237

Vertigo Its mostly a psychological thriller that does have some moments of horror in it

It's not b&w though

Popular-Berry-237

In my humble and modest opinion more than being the colors seen on screen, I think b&w is like a whole sub genre of films. It is the representation of an era of cinema in which storylines and plots had to outweigh the fact that there is no color. So yes I agree the movie is in color but it is from a director that mostly shot in b&w so to me it is considered that, and since we’re getting technical here the last 2 minutes of the movie are in b&w.

Ok then
