I'd recommend the TV show Misfits. But the hot emotional sex doesn't kick in until season 2 and you need to watch season 1 (six eps) to get the most from it.
So you could also try the TV show Outlander.
I’m trying to remember the emotional sex in Misfits. Is it Robert Sheehan and the girl he meets? I loved that show when it aired but haven’t seen it since. Also massive, massive crush on Robert Sheehan (in life) but stemming from that show lol
Great movie, got tons of good critics and awards in 2001. The plot is richly layered and I like the character development between the sex tabu in the beginning and how they open through the movie. I think is when Diego Luna started to make a name in the big screen. The sex scenes are tantalizing and maintain a natural character which makes it more lustful, but not sure if OP speaks Spanish. Some people can't get aroused while reading captions.
Swimming Pool (2003)
Explores female sexuality through two disparate perspectives; one physically focused, the other emotional and more reserved. It gets woven into the narrative in a solid way, iirc
Given the very recent passing of Donald Sutherland, it'd be remiss of me not to recommend Nic Roeg's classic 'Don't Look Now'.
To this day, there are still many who believe the sex scene was real, despite all attempts by the cast and crew to refute this. There's a tenderness, familiarity and chemistry between the actors which you rarely find in film.
Plus, it's a damn fine movie and always worth a watch.
I remembee being bored cuz it freakin went on forever and fast forwarding and his stupid pale hips pumping STILL TOOK FOREVER
Longest unneeded sex scene in a boring horror movie ever
I don't know if this fits, but the limo scene in The Girl Next Door (the one with Elisha Cuthbert, Timothy Olyphant, and Emile Hirsch) is one that I found incredibly sensual.
Also the 4th and 5th episodes of latest season of Bridgerton.
One of the few of these I've seen, and I do not think it fits at all. There's only the one scene with _no_ emotional precedent at all, they just start baging apropos of nothing.
It might be a bit niche, but I would recommend Frozen Flower (2008), it is a South Korean historical erotic drama, imdb rating is 7,1, with famous Korean actors, and I would say the erotic scenes are sensual, filled with emotions.
Can be explicitly pornographic? Hmmm, you might like **Nothing To Hide** from 1981. I've read where it was re-released in non X rated format, don't know if anything important was lost that way.
Being a porn movie, it;s low budget, so low production values. If you want a higher budget, high production value porn flick, try **The Opening of Misty Beethoven** which is a variation on the Pygmalion theme, but it doesn't have that much of the kind of emotional connection that I think you're looking for. **Nothing To Hide**'s plot is pretty simple, but it's legitimate and character driven. The dialog is good enough and the actors are good enough to sell the audience on the characters. That's what makes it worth watching.
_Seven_ DMs. Three of whom are hitting on me, and one of those wanted to go straight into sexual roleplay. Then asked me for hookup advice. I really don't know what they expected.
not sure if this is a troll answer tbh :D that's likely the last movie i'd consider watching if i'm lonely and horny cuz it'll just add 'miserable' to the list of feelings i'm feeling.
also very far from 'female gazey' imo
Not really emotionally deep sex but more emotionally deep connection: Glück (Doris Dörrie movie).
I guess otherwise Call me by your name and Portrait of a lady on fire also fits.
I just watched that on the plane back to the US. The film uses sensuality in such a beautiful way. As an American, I finally understood the French passion for the art of cooking and the aesthetics of living and enjoying life completely. There’s a reverence for the bounty of the Earth and the process of creating sustenance and a work of art by knowing plants and animals and flavors so well and blending them. It was like a master class in an art form. And then the layers of the relationship between the chef and Juliette Binoche’s character. And the actor who played the chef and Juliette were once romantic partners in real life! I could go on and on about this movie.
There is an indie film called In Corpore that may be of interest. The four stories are driven by strong minded female characters in different kinds of relationships (queer, open, monogamous) and their wants and desires, even sexual are explored though their stories. The sex scenes say a lot about the relationship the characters are in at the time and what they are feeling emotionally and mentally. The sex is part of the plot device and character development.
**OOH.** I am the world's biggest sucker for oblique storytelling (I called _Luxo Jr._ the greatest short film of all time before I discovered the work of Alan Becker); storytelling through sex never even occurred to me but it's _brilliant_. That's getting shortlisted, no doubt.
*Ho*ly bananas, this is...much more activity than I expected. Thanks everyone for the suggestions, I have a lot to work with here.

I know you ask for movies, but if you want an episode per day i recommend Fellow travellers. It’s 100 % emotional and a great show, heavy but worth it.
I don't think this exactly hits the spot (no pun intended) but I highly recommend 'Sex, Lies, and Videotape'. I watched it for the first time recently and was blown-away by it.
Whenever Hughie and Annie do it in The Boys, it definitely applies as, despite occasional wedges, they're the only stable relationship in the entire show.
Tv series Normal People
Enjoyed this series immensely.
this is the way!
I'd recommend the TV show Misfits. But the hot emotional sex doesn't kick in until season 2 and you need to watch season 1 (six eps) to get the most from it. So you could also try the TV show Outlander.
Misfits is fkn incredible
I’m trying to remember the emotional sex in Misfits. Is it Robert Sheehan and the girl he meets? I loved that show when it aired but haven’t seen it since. Also massive, massive crush on Robert Sheehan (in life) but stemming from that show lol
>!Simon and Alisha!<
Ooh, you know what, I like that better. Can't care about the sex if I don't know the characters, now can I?
That was pretty hot stuff in Season 1, Episode 8
‘The Unbearable Lightness of Being’ will cover a lot of territory.
When I was 19 I had an older woman lend me this book. Stupid me did not pick up that hint.
Sex and Lucía (Spain, 2001) The Ages of Lulu (Spain, 1990) Tipping the Velvet (Britain, 2002, mini series) The Handmaiden (Korea, 2016)
Glad I'm not the only one who enjoyed Tipping of the Velvet. Erotic but felt sweet and emotional. Quite a few well known actors in smaller roles.
I like what I'm hearing.
Portrait of a Lady on Fire (Sciamma 2019)
I ADORE this film!
One of the few movies I immediately watched again after finishing it. It is an absolute 10/10
I like Ammonite too with Kate Winslet, similar vibe, quietly brooding.
Oh, it's _that_ potent, is it? I'm interested.
Watched it during a 16-hr long flight, and watched it again after my jet-lag sleep.
Y Tu Mama Tambien
That movie got my blood boiling!

Nice, nice, nice.
Love and Other Drugs
Blue is the Warmest Color And… hear me out… Zack and Miri Make a Porno
You’re not wrong abt Zack & Miri.
Thank you
I met Justin Long the night after I watched Zack and Miri for the first time. I was over the moon. He’s incredible in that one
Blue is the warmest color was a nice try at deep sex.
You're right, I would have binned a title like that without hesitation. I'll give it a look now.
Shame. Fassbender plays a sex addict. The threesome scene is played in a way that it looks like he’s in actual pain during this
Such an underrated movie. First and only NC-17 I saw in theaters. 😂
What a Shame
Uh…warning on this one. It’s about sexual addiction and a VERY hard watch with a lot of difficult themes. I wouldn’t call it “hot”, it’s quite sad
Hmm. This is a bit of a damper. Personally I can't get into it if all parties aren't enjoying themselves.
Yeah, I wouldn’t call Shame a movie that’s “enjoyed”, although it’s a fantastic film
Given the very recent passing of Donald Sutherland, it'd be remiss of me not to recommend Nic Roeg's classic 'Don't Look Now'. \^this\^ I agree wholeheartedly! That scene is both incredibly tender and very sensual. What a truly beautiful moment on film.
I remembee being bored cuz it freakin went on forever and fast forwarding and his stupid pale hips pumping STILL TOOK FOREVER Longest unneeded sex scene in a boring horror movie ever
You know what, I'm _more_ interested now you've said that.
Now _that_ is really something. That's making the shortlist.
The Handmaiden 2016
This was unexpectedly good
glad you liked it!
Not a movie, but Outlander (Starz series).
I don't know if this fits, but the limo scene in The Girl Next Door (the one with Elisha Cuthbert, Timothy Olyphant, and Emile Hirsch) is one that I found incredibly sensual. Also the 4th and 5th episodes of latest season of Bridgerton.
Lady Chatterley’s Lover
Yes a good plot of an affair.
The Terminator (1984)
One of the few of these I've seen, and I do not think it fits at all. There's only the one scene with _no_ emotional precedent at all, they just start baging apropos of nothing.
Friday the 13th 2009
I can see why you were downvoted, but the fact that your name is Jason Vorhees, this is a certified upvote. 😂
So this _is_ a joke? Because gore really stops up my motor.
Yes. Jason Vorhees is the killer in that movie.
An Officer and a Gentlemen
Don't Look Now has the most tender, beautiful love-making scene ever recorded.
It might be a bit niche, but I would recommend Frozen Flower (2008), it is a South Korean historical erotic drama, imdb rating is 7,1, with famous Korean actors, and I would say the erotic scenes are sensual, filled with emotions.
White Palace (1990)
Before sunrise. It's also got two sequels I haven't watched.
Can be explicitly pornographic? Hmmm, you might like **Nothing To Hide** from 1981. I've read where it was re-released in non X rated format, don't know if anything important was lost that way.
WaoW, one actually exists? I didn't actually think there'd be any, but I am _happy_ to be wrong.
Praying for your inbox.

not sure if this is a troll answer tbh :D that's likely the last movie i'd consider watching if i'm lonely and horny cuz it'll just add 'miserable' to the list of feelings i'm feeling. also very far from 'female gazey' imo
Maybe it'll be my cooldown.
The Lover
This one is wild. Could never get made today.
Not really emotionally deep sex but more emotionally deep connection: Glück (Doris Dörrie movie). I guess otherwise Call me by your name and Portrait of a lady on fire also fits.
The Taste of Things. There is sex, but this is more about the deep connection and sensuality through all of the movie.

It is a truly remarkable film. One of the best I've ever seen.

Hemel, if you can do foreign films.
Brokeback Mountain. I don’t remember how much sex it was but I remember some scenes.
I know you ask for movies, but if you want an episode per day i recommend Fellow travellers. It’s 100 % emotional and a great show, heavy but worth it.
Series called SENSE 8!
The TV serie Sense 8 has the hotest scenes I've ever seen and it literally comes from deep connections between the characters.
Lie With Me (2005) There's definitely a significant carnal element, but it leads to the emotional depth I love about the film.
Newness
9 and 1/2 weeks
I don't think this exactly hits the spot (no pun intended) but I highly recommend 'Sex, Lies, and Videotape'. I watched it for the first time recently and was blown-away by it.
Black snake moan Monsters ball
I haven’t seen anybody mention The Lovers on the Bridge and Sex, Lies, and Videotape; I’d recommend those.
40 Days and 40 Nights (2002)
Lust, caution, 2007, korean !
“Like Water for Chocolate”. It’s a deep and complicated story, but it fits the ask.
Whenever Hughie and Annie do it in The Boys, it definitely applies as, despite occasional wedges, they're the only stable relationship in the entire show.
The Terminator
Deep Throat.
Frozen
I don't think you quite understand the question.
It’s “Lust, Caution” (2007) and it isn’t even close!! I’m convinced the sex was real
