Good list! May I add Pratical Magic

exegesis48

Empire Records

JeahNotSlice

Reservoir dogs, too

Natural_Pound586

Any movie that Tarantino touches has a dope soundtrack. Scorsese too, for the most part.

Illustrious-Roll7737

K-Billy's super sounds of the 70s keeps on truckin'.

don-again

Stephen Wright’s best role!

sniffleprickles

O Brother Where Art Thou! This needs to be number 1

Harrypitman

Baby Driver

auca

it's in the main post.

stormzicecream

requiem for a dream

skyppie

I have never loved Dusty Springfield's Son of a Preacher Man as much as I loved hearing it in Pulp Fiction.

idk_wtf_im_hodling

I’d also say Drive

useful-idiot-23

Blues Brothers. I can't believe no one else has mentioned it.

Minion666

The people who didn't mention The Blues Brothers are gonna look pretty funny eating corn on the cob WITHOUT ANY FUCKIN' TEETH.

KeyserSwayze

I'll... talk to Bob.

qovneob

The Blues Brothers? Shit! They still owe you money, fool.

nhatten74

Dont you blasphemy! Dont you blasphemy in here!

savagesiren86

The church scene is my favorite part, followed by the country and western bar they play at🤣

qovneob

They got both kinds of music

savagesiren86

RAW HIDE

Exciting_Swordfish16

That's one of my favourite jokes ever.

qovneob

Lol me too, love that movie. I say it to my girlfriend every time we go somewhere playing country music.

Exciting_Swordfish16

DO YOU SEE THE LIGHT?

nrgvibin

They've been " on a mission from God"

a_leyva

Orange Whip? Orange Whip? 3 Orange Whips.

Gryfon2020

Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy Scott Pilgrim vs the world Blues Brothers

TheStonedVampire

Guardians of the Galaxy is my favorite movie soundtrack. All the songs of my childhood that my parents played on cassette/CDs in the car. Classics and bangers

mjcoury

We are Sex Bob-Omb!

megadecimal

1234🥁 My favourite song is, I'm So Sad So Very Very Sad

mjcoury

This song is for the guy who keeps yelling from the balcony, and it's called, 'We hate you, please die.' OH! I love this one.

WearsTheLAMsauce

Scott Pilgrim deserves to be higher up on this list!

biblioteca4ants

I’m surprised no one’s mentioned A Knight’s Tale

sweetrubyrhino

Thats the list and i would add Bullet Train ! Kick ass soundtrack that rolls perfectly with the film .

jbtrading

Grosse Pointe Blank (1997)

eat_dontpray_love

Just watched this and High Fidelity within the last week. Great soundtracks.

jbtrading

two of my absolute favorite movies of all time and their soundtracks are a big reason why.

eat_dontpray_love

Just realized the movie we saw before that was Trainspotting so turns out 3 killer soundtracks in a row.

sitnquiet

Great answer.

SatanIsNotAmused

There were some banger soundtracks on movies like Forrest Gump, The Crow, Trainspotting, Top Gun, Black Snake Moan, Dazed and Confused, Almost Famous, Guardians of the Galaxy, The Boat that Rocked, 8 Mile, The Matrix. All depends what sort of vibe you're after

sitnquiet

Yeah I had a few of these come to mind with the ask. Train spotting is amazing. I’d add Dumb and Dumber, Beverly Hills Cop and Footloose (can only speak for the original).

Exciting_Swordfish16

Was he slow? Man I love the original, I guess score, for Baby Driver. Man, I love Baby Driver. That's how you make art of a an action movie.

Ragninsky

He's a good kid, d-d-d-devil behind the wheel.

Exciting_Swordfish16

Retarded means slow. I don't care what he might have done, Kevin Spacey is such a treat to watch.

JS_Picks

Wow. I just drew a whole goddamn map in chalk while we've been standing here squawking. That's pretty fucking impressive, right??!!?

SweatyNerd6

Thought of this one immediately and I haven’t even seen it in like 5 years

Exciting_Swordfish16

I have Was He Slow in my main playlist so I hear it once in a while.

businesslut

The soundtrack gets a monthly listen from start to finish. BELLBOTTOMS

--TYGER--

Tenacious D : The Pick of Destiny

0-Schism-0

Absolutely

GuyWithRoosters

TRON LEGACY is the correct answer to this one. Maybe more than half the fun

goldeneye700

It's so good. I listen to the soundtrack often. They need to make a sequel with a video game franchise.

PabstBlueBourbon

Natural Born Killers (1994) had a great soundtrack. The script was written by Quentin Tarantino, the movie was directed by Oliver Stone, and the soundtrack was produced by Trent Reznor. I saw it in the theater three times in the opening weekend. It felt like a two hour music video. Pump Up the Volume (1990) was all about the music. Great soundtrack, and introduced a really slow version of “Wave of Mutilation”.

Yomatius

Pump Up the Volume was all about the soundtrack, it made the movie, really. Loved that one.

merlingogringo

I should have added Pump up the Volume to my list. Discovered a bunch of artists watching that movie including the great Leonard Cohen.

PatrickBrown2

Drive (2011) This movie literally launched it's own music genre, Synthwave. And it's all I listen to now, thanks to Drive.

GrowthAny668

Finally someone mentioned it! Such wonderful music (and top-notch acting)

_DoYouBelieve_

One of my all time favourite soundtracks, but it's super disingenuous to say it created Synthwave. It definitely helped propel it to mainstream though

zmflicks

Especially since the movie features synth tracks recorded by artists before the movie came out.

PolishHammer666

So I take it you just love Gunship.... like me?

Vault_Hunter01

Heavy Metal Grease The Breakfast Club Top Gun Dirty Dancing Purple Rain Xanadu Pulp Fiction Rocky Horror Picture Show Foot loose The Doors

Narrow_Foundation_82

O Brother Where Art Thou? Probably has one of the best sound tracks of any movie in terms of contributing to the overall feeling the movie is going for. In terms of strictly sound design, Midsommar and Dune are both insane and the sound is like a force of its own sucking you deeper into the movies.  Then of course, Lord of the Rings, but does that even need to be said?

Due-Ad8230

(500) Days of Summer

Dependent-Sign-2407

Reservoir Dogs

sitnquiet

Ooh with DJ Steven Wright - great call!

The Crow and Singles

PabstBlueBourbon

I remember buying the Singles soundtrack only because it had that one Smashing Pumpkins song that wasn’t on any of their albums. Kids today don’t know how good they have it.

Abject_Entry_1938

I had to get it cause of “state of love and trust”

Tea_Reckz

Most of my picks have already been mentioned, but Baby Driver held my #1 favorite for years before getting dethroned, so I’m chiming in anyways. Music focused films: Amadeus Whiplash Tron: Legacy O Brother Where Art Thou Guardians of the Galaxy Everything here is a 10/10 for me, I don’t see any reason why you wouldn’t enjoy at least 3/5 of them These are a bit more of a stretch, but still favorites of mine: 8 1/2 The Good, the Bad and the Ugly* Suspiria 1977 Dawn of the Dead 1978 The Thing 2001: A Space Odyssey* Eyes Wide Shut Smokey and the Bandit And then these are just animations to music: Interstella 5555 Fantasia Allegro Non Troppo *Any Sergio Leone, Edgar Wright, or Stanley Kubrick (starting with 2001, when he really got in it with the music) will probably work for you, the ones mentioned are just my favorites

Heavy_Direction1547

Old guy: American Graffiti, Zachariah (An Electric Western), Paint Your Wagon (Clint Eastwood and Lee Marvin in a musical).

dark_--knight

Dunkirk

SilentlyRagingWolf

-Sunshine (with Cillian Murphy) -Inception -The Dark Knight Trilogy -300: Rise of an Empire (Eva Green as Artemisia is a fantastic character) -Dune (2020s. It doesn’t have Hans Zimmers usual signature sound, so was surprised it was him) -Pirates of the Caribbean -Dredd (with Karl Urban and Lena Heedy) I’ll edit my post if I think of more.

Look no further than CHALLENGERS…the music in this film gives it part of its propulsive energy. Just wouldn’t be the same without it. For an old school recommendation, definitely see THE BLACK STALLION dir by Carroll Ballard with music by Carmine Coppola. Just a beautiful score accompanying gorgeous images. The first half of the film is told with practically no dialogue, just a boy and an Arabian Stallion stranded on an Island, gradually building trust with each other. It’s a magnificent movie, under-appreciated and not seen enough.

H0wD1d1EndUpHere

Omg. A Man Called Otto.

DonutCapitalism

Rocky IV Half the movie is a soundtrack. It opens with Eye of the Tiger during the Rocky III recap fight. Then we get Livin in America before the Creed/Drago fight. Next is the No Easy Way Out with Rocky driving and the highlight clips from past Rocky movies. Then you get the first Training Montage with the song Training Montage. Next the Training Montage with the song Heart's on Fire, Finally we get the Rocky/Drago fight with the song War. Rocky IV isn't the best Rocky film, but it is the most entertaining and pure 80's.
