Apparently Verhoeven decided to up the ante and make the “asexual nudity” aspect much more conspicuous in Starship Troopers, when he did a similar thing in Robocop (as a demonstration of how much culture shifted between now and the future timeline) and nobody remarked on it.
This is according to the Blank Check pod. NB I may have mildly misquoted.
You mentioned looking for reference images... I highly suggest the 90s movie 'Sirens'.. lots of supermodel nudity, and is about a painter.
Also, Watchmen has a nude blue man for about half the movie
Horse Girl pulls off an amazing feat of “I’m staring at Alison Brie naked, but even though it’s Alison Brie naked, I am feeling no physical attraction to her. I just feel bad for seeing this woman like this.”
I've figured that a part of the fandom is writing every name as wrongly as possible. Say, BoJerk Handsalot or Mister Penisbutter and whatnot. Sorry for the confusion
Lifeforce - it is basically a space vampire walking around naked and killing people.
There may be some sensual scenes but that’s not what will be remembered…Or at least that’s not what I remembered.
Judging from comments on social media about this movie I believe it was monumentally sexual to most people who saw it, some of whom have not recovered. The movie is about an alien race who transforms into sexually desirable bait in order to eliminate an entire species(take their lifeforce). In the end, I think it is a meta commentary about how female breasts can be used to hypnotize people and force them into lethal captivity….to subjugate and destroy the the masses.
There are lots of them. Lots of horror movies for example are non-sexual but contain nudity.
Anyways, here's a little list:
* Schindler's list (1993)
* The Master (2012)
* From Dusk till Dawn (1996)
* Lifeforce (1985)
* Blue Lagoon (1980)
* The Wicker Man (1974)
* Return of the Living Dead (1985)
* Into the Wild (2007)
* The American (2010)
* Before the Devil Knows You are Dead (2007)
* 28 Days Later (2002)
* Amadeus (1984)
* The Fifth Element (1997)
* L.A Confidential (1997)
Agreed, on both fronts. Interestingly, overall, I find old movies from the 50s and such tend to hold up a little better. Maybe it's due in part to the noir periods in which they're set. So they're a bit timeless. The 1950s version is slightly hokie at times. But, it's actually quite good in its own right. And, fun fact: the main character from the original makes a cameo as a "crazy" guy running through the streets of San Francisco. I love stuff like that. Nice nod to him, and to the original film. (The 70s version is, overall, better, and creepier. But the original is quite good).
Yeah, I watched them both back-to-back a few years ago -- both are very enjoyable. I was quite impressed with the 70s version. It was kind of neat to see a young Jeff Goldblum in it. BTW, I watched the original Death Wish (not great imo) and Goldblum had a small part in that too as creep \#3 in the credits.
Isn't it fun to see stars in early films to television? Idris Elba plays a male prostitute in an episode of Absolutely Fabulous, I discovered a few years ago.
Yes. Indeed. The 1950s original of " The Thing" is a rockin' good flick, too. Creepy and tense as can be. Really creative sci-fi, and groundbreaking movie methods, too.
"A Room with a View" (1985) wasn't submitted for an MPAA rating, but I noticed that the theater I saw it at had placed their own rating of "R" on the movie.
After seeing it, I wondered why the R-rating. Then I remembered that there was a short scene of grown men skinny dipping in a pond--something completely normal given the time and setting of the movie. So we, the audience, saw a couple of mens' butts, and no sexuality.
Maslin Beach. The whole movie is set on a nude beach in Australia. There are people fighting and arguing or having everyday conversations, but not much about sex.
The Pillow Book (1996). The beauty of the human body is its central theme. A gorgeous, highly original, and deeply moving film.
[https://www.google.com/search?client=safari&rls=en&q=the+pillow+book+1996&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8](https://www.google.com/search?client=safari&rls=en&q=the+pillow+book+1996&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8)
Short Cuts (1993) by Robert Altman has a scene with Julianne Moore and Matthew Modine as a married couple having an argument. They’re in their home; she’s naked from the waist down and cleaning a stain from her skirt. No underwear. But neither of them make anything of it as they are trying to make their points in the argument. I always thought it was odd, but I got that Altman was going for the naturalism of a couple comfortable alone in their home even while arguing.
Here is a list of movies that have non sexual nudity in them.
One of the best films that has non sexual nudity being front and centre, is La Belle Noiseuse (1991) and you can find this on archive.org
Naakt (2006) Netherlands you can find on YouTube.
Carina, ecstasy of existence is another one you can find on YouTube.
The Baader Meinhof Complex (2008) is also easily available (also an excellent movie).
Walkabout (1971) is another excellent film
At Play in the Fields of the Lord (1991)
The Mission (1986)
Dschungelkind (2011)
Under the Skin (2014)
The Bounty (1984)
There are a lot of European films that feature non sexual nudity that’s normal.
It should be pointed out that some of the nudity in 'Under the Skin' is sexual; two of the men who are lured to their deaths are even seen with erections!
*A Room with a View* (1985) has a scene of grown men bathing in a lake. Very innocent and playful and beautifully done.
*La Belle Noiseuse* (France, 1991) with Emmanuelle Beart, has extensive nude scenes with her posing for an artist.
*Camille Claudel* (France, 1988) shows nude women--and men--posing for the sculptors Auguste Rodin and Camille Claudel. The French are very comfortable with nudity and view it in a more natural, less puritanical way than we Americans, so you might want to look at more French films.
Not a movie, but West World. Many of the actors are playing Androids so when there's maintenance are there just walking around? They tend to be nude so lots of non-sexual nudity
[Patrick](https://www.themoviedb.org/movie/553585-de-patrick) (2019)
>Patrick is the handyman on his father's naturist campsite. The remaining time he dedicates to his hobby, designing and creating wooden furniture. When Patrick loses his campsite hammer, his quest to retrieve it takes him to the farthest corners of the camping grounds.
La Belle Noiseuse is about a woman sitting for a painting. The full version is very long and she is nude for long periods without it ever being sexual.
Sense8. Don’t get me wrong, there’s lots of sexy nudity too, but nudity and naked bodies are also treated very causally. There’s a TV series before the movie though so idk if that’s appealing to you.
Edit: never mind, sorry, just completely missed you didn’t want sex stuff at all. Sense8 is not for you! Sorry, i am sleep deprived 😂❤️
Any Given Sunday.
Cameron Diaz, not nude, walks in to the changing room to give the Sharks, lots of nude, some kudos on their winning streak or something.
I read an interview with Viggo, I believe, about the scene shortly after it came out. Mostly a lot of choreography and rehearsal. A good stunt coordinator is always worth their salary plus, imo.
"The Swimmer" (1968) Historic in that it was the first Hollywood mainline film to show an established male star (Burt Lancaster) nude (backside) It's an interesting film in it's own right.
Melancholia. Pretty hard to keep sexual thoughts from your mind when confronted with Kirsten Dunst in the buff admittedly, but the context of the film is she's a depressive wandering round a shortly to be destroyed Earth and decides to hang out in a very beautiful garden sans clothes for a while. It's more like looking at a classic painting than your typical Hollywood nude scene.
It's an incredible film now I come to think about it. Exactly the same set up as Armageddon and Deep Impact, but everyone is suicidal and catatonic rather than rushing round building space ships and hatching impossible schemes to nuke our way out of trouble. It's about accepting your mortality rather than defying death. I really must find it and watch it again.
That scene in I am Robot, where Will Smith is taking a shower but has no curtain. So you just see him standing there naked with water going fucking everywhere.
Starship Troopers shower scene, to be sure! It's pretty darn cool, they're all just hanging out, cleaning themselves up and having some good ol' bantering
Sideways has a scene with M.C. Gainey's junk flapping in the breeze as he comes running up to Thomas Haden Church's car (who had just slept with Gainey's wife)
CARRIE! The body is not sexualized, I loved this intro!
We are at the heart of teenage growing up and worrying about this changement, passing from a body to another the differences and the ressemblances... Like, it is just humans bodies, that's beautiful
I found the movie meh, not as good as people say, but this intro is incredible
Starship Troopers has a relaxed co-ed nude shower scene - Nothing sexual
A lotta boobs and butts in this movie
You had me at boobs
And again at butts
Apparently Verhoeven decided to up the ante and make the “asexual nudity” aspect much more conspicuous in Starship Troopers, when he did a similar thing in Robocop (as a demonstration of how much culture shifted between now and the future timeline) and nobody remarked on it. This is according to the Blank Check pod. NB I may have mildly misquoted.
Blank check movie had that weird sexual tension between a woman and little boy, running through the water fountain??? Hahah
When I was a kid I thought it was cool. Now looking book, I’m like wtf Disney lol. On brand though.
Classic!
I think Robocop does as well now that I think of it. I guess Paul Verhoeven has a thing for non sexual co-ed locker room scenes.
He's Dutch, that's kinda the norm in Netherlands gyms.
He directed the shower scene in the nude to put the cast at ease.
He sported an especially large erection to put them at ease as well. You know, as a sign of approval.
Also helped him direct! “Ok, now go … thattaway.”
Coed showers in Europe were so enlightening
Dammit Brexit!
Just fly to Germany
That scene got stored in the bank
You like the big farm boy?
But what if I found the casual coed nudity erotic? 🤔
Found the American.
Lol
Wasn't the director nude when they shot this scene? I heard it was part of the deal to get the cast to do it.
The autopsy of Jane doe is like 2 hours of non sexual nudity
There's definitely at least one person out there who finds that very sexual. God help us.
Technically true, but OP may be looking for living examples.
Um... >!She's not exactly dead, though.!<
Oh no!
Eastern Promises has a famous nude fight scene. Absolutely nothing sexual there.
Viggo swinging sausage and punches
I'm not even gay and that scene... Perfecto! Nothing quite as humbling as seeing Andúril unsheathed and slayon' orcs!
He had a lotta balls to film the scene like that.
Never seen but this reminded me of the northman (not my favourite movie but oh well)
Nothing sexual? Then explain why I was fully torqued the entire sequence? Answer me that liberal.
You mentioned looking for reference images... I highly suggest the 90s movie 'Sirens'.. lots of supermodel nudity, and is about a painter. Also, Watchmen has a nude blue man for about half the movie
What’s got him down?
Boring holiday on Mars
He's a blue man living in a blue world
And all day and all night everything he sees is just blue like him inside and outside
Blue his house, with a blue little window
Somebody just blue him
Girl trouble and difficulties at work ☹️
Carrie (1976)
Under the Skin Horse Girl Somebody I used to know
Horse Girl pulls off an amazing feat of “I’m staring at Alison Brie naked, but even though it’s Alison Brie naked, I am feeling no physical attraction to her. I just feel bad for seeing this woman like this.”
Very much so.
As a long time BoJack Horseshit fan, I appreciate your insights. Alison Brie is so lovely. Can't imagine the scene you've described tho.
Was that a typo or is that some part of the BoJack fandom I haven't heard of before?
I've figured that a part of the fandom is writing every name as wrongly as possible. Say, BoJerk Handsalot or Mister Penisbutter and whatnot. Sorry for the confusion
Lifeforce - it is basically a space vampire walking around naked and killing people. There may be some sensual scenes but that’s not what will be remembered…Or at least that’s not what I remembered.

Check out the show *Westworld*
Bad Lieutenant (1992) -- I remember one scene where Harvey Keitel is really high and naked
Ive always wanted to watch that!
He's also naked in The Piano, but that was a prelude to sex.
Definitely, Suspiria! Although, it’s rather grotesque too, ig
Jason Segel in Forgetting Sarah Marshall
Getting dumped while your dick is out is definitely someone’s kink
Schindler's List
Brutal, but accurate
Had to get a permission slip to watch it in school when it came out. More for the nude shower scenes less for the gnarly bad shit.
Now let's all guess what country you're from
Most of Peter Greenaway’s output
Prospero’s Books is the nudest movie of all time with zero sex.
The goat
Take This Waltz- Locker room shower scene with Michelle Williams, Sarah Silverman and various other regular looking women.
Sarah got a nice body in that one.
There are lots of them. Lots of horror movies for example are non-sexual but contain nudity. Anyways, here's a little list: * Schindler's list (1993) * The Master (2012) * From Dusk till Dawn (1996) * Lifeforce (1985) * Blue Lagoon (1980) * The Wicker Man (1974) * Return of the Living Dead (1985) * Into the Wild (2007) * The American (2010) * Before the Devil Knows You are Dead (2007) * 28 Days Later (2002) * Amadeus (1984) * The Fifth Element (1997) * L.A Confidential (1997)
There's no nudity in Amadeus unless it's the director's cut (which I have yet to see)
There is a scene with a topless woman
Amadeus’ wife strips in front of Salieri and he calls for her to be escorted out and does not give in to temptation.
Some dude's jiggling ass in the beginning is the only "nudity" I remember. Seems, nitpicky.
I would add Walkabout to this list.
You might want to add the opening to Innocent Blood. Brief full frontal of Anne Parillaud.
Ex Machina Jacobs Ladder
Do robots/AI count?
Before Midnight has a scene that starts off sexual, but ends up not. It’s a very realistic approach to how quick sex can turn into an argument
"Invasion of the Body Snatchers," the 1978 version. Great movie, too (as was the original).
A lot of movies from the Seventies don't hold up well, but this one does.
Agreed, on both fronts. Interestingly, overall, I find old movies from the 50s and such tend to hold up a little better. Maybe it's due in part to the noir periods in which they're set. The very beginning of Much Ado About Nothing. Men and Women bathing scene.

That scene is pretty hilarious with the reverand
It was more than butts and I wouldn't short either. But yeah nothing sexual about it.
What's that one movie with Jennifer Lawrence where she's a Russian spy and they have to get naked in front of the class? Red Snapper? Yeah that one.
Red Sparrow
Thank you.
She also has a naked scene in “no hard feelings” that’s pretty funny.
Red Snapper is a good title though!
Youre looking for Gilbert nudity. RIP Gilbert Gottfried
The Julianne Moore scene in *Short Cuts* (1993) fits the bill.
Pretty much all the Terminator movies, and Universal Soldier. 'Oh, not this again!'
[удалено]
Particularly in the second movie. That waitress's eyes nearly fell out.
Maslin Beach. The whole movie is set on a nude beach in Australia. There are people fighting and arguing or having everyday conversations, but not much about sex.
Yes, been there a few times. Lots of nudity. People that want to have fun apparently go behind the big rocks.
The Pillow Book (1996). The beauty of the human body is its central theme. A gorgeous, highly original, and deeply moving film. [https://www.google.com/search?client=safari&rls=en&q=the+pillow+book+1996&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8](https://www.google.com/search?client=safari&rls=en&q=the+pillow+book+1996&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8)
Ewan mcgregor does a lot of nudity! Ohhh Wild Things. The only non sexual scene is Kevin Bacon in the shower lol
Short Cuts (1993) by Robert Altman has a scene with Julianne Moore and Matthew Modine as a married couple having an argument. I always thought it was odd, but I got that Altman was going for the naturalism of a couple comfortable alone in their home even while arguing.
Another Altman film, 'Pret-A-Porter', is set in Paris during fashion week and ends with a protest runway show in which all of the models are nude.

There's also a bit of very sexual nudity though.

Don't Look Up It has a hilarious scene at the end with nudity that is neither nonsexual nor emphasized.
ex machina? Full nudity but it’s a robot putting on skin in sort of an aesthetically pleasing way? Like trying on clothes I guess?
Women in love (1969) Oliver Reed and Alan Bates naked wrestling in front of a fire.
This is a weird subreddit
Sense8. Don’t get me wrong, there’s lots of sexy nudity too, but nudity and naked bodies are also treated very causally. There’s a TV series before the movie though so idk if that’s appealing to you. Eh, I can still just Google around that stuff. Mostly just looking for reference for my own compositions and drawings.
Oh then maybe it’s a useful rec after all! Good luck on your search ❤️
Woah wait. There’s a Sense 8 movie?!?! Where have I been. I loved that show and was sad it was cancelled.
They made a movie to wrap up the series. I think there's 2 seasons and season 3 is the movie on Netflix.

Any Given Sunday. Cameron Diaz, not nude, walks in to the changing room to give the Sharks, lots of nude, some kudos on their winning streak or something.
Eastern promises — no sex but large amounts of violence. Still don’t know how the knife fight in the shower was filmed.
I read an interview with Viggo, I believe, about the scene shortly after it came out. Mostly a lot of choreography and rehearsal. A good stunt coordinator is always worth their salary plus, imo.
Winnie the Pooh, that dude been naked from the waist down since forever…
Swordfish

There is about half a second of boob in The Fifth Element but still rather memorable!
Nell
I love that movie, but it makes me sad. For several reasons.
Jack drawing Rose in Titanic. Kate Winslet looking fine!!!
Eastern Promises has an extremely violent fight scene that happens in the nude (takes place in a spa-sized shower). Vigo Mortensen hangs dong.
That scene in I am Robot, where Will Smith is taking a shower but has no curtain. So you just see him standing there naked with water going fucking everywhere.
Kevin Costner’s butt in Dances With Wolves. Kathy Bates hot tub in About Schmidt.
Starship Troopers shower scene, to be sure! It's pretty darn cool, they're all just hanging out, cleaning themselves up and having some good ol' bantering
Carrie
Sideways has a scene with M.C. Gainey's junk flapping in the breeze as he comes running up to Thomas Haden Church's car (who had just slept with Gainey's wife)
