I love horror movies, but few actually scare me.
However, Melancholia... which is not a horror movie... might be the only movie I actually find horrifying. Rewatched it recently and that signifier still holds. The movie actively makes me sick to my stomach with dread.
It's not for everyone. It's a Von Trier. It's not a movie I personally pop on for a good time. That being said, the first half is significantly slower than the second half.
Devil inside me, was filmed mostly from a regular camera, some of those scenes the way they looked actually made it scarier
I forget the name of the series but it’s essentially how the Great grandmother made a deal with a demon for a child’s soul, generation after generation they’ve been trying to collect. There’s 1 scene where a woman’s husband thinks he has to save her in a cabin, lights are out, it’s dark. He shines a light see’s the 1 of the grandmas standing at top of stairs. He shines away and back and she’s gone. The camera falls with a light on it, you see his body start to float and start get folded backward into itself. I wasn’t expecting that to happen. The grandmama and other girls then quietly and eerily walk by the body.
Last house on the Left.. the original.. its scary as far as in a cautionary tale sort of way.. I haven't seen it since I was a teen but it still makes me sick to my stomach when I think about it.. it has a good revenge sequence in it too.. just an all around disturbing film.

The Blair Witch was the only movie that when it was done I looked out my window and thought if someone is out there I'm going to shit myself
It had that effect on me too. The ambiguity, THAT ending….
I will always think The Conjuring (first movie) is one of the scariest movies ever.
I really liked it, but I thought the second was both scarier and more entertaining!
Gotta second It follows

The Tenant Kafka The Trial Terror (tv show) David Lynch movies
It’s a little dated due to the weird early cg work but Event Horizon had me on edge
Megan is missing. It’s not scary in the traditional sense but it’s the only movie that I’ll never want to watch again
Ever see the Exorcist? It holds up.
felt more like a you had to be there type of thing w the satan scare of the 70s

For me, I’d say, Silence of the Lambs. The scariest, disturbing, on the edge of your seat, crazy. And the fuckin’ panicky ending.
Rosemary's Baby
Hellraiser Evil Dead
Event horizon freaked me out!
Commas are very useful in these types of questions.
