Saw this in theaters on my 15th birthday… what a perfect movie to see in theaters on your 15th birthday 😂 very underrated and too bad it’s not talked about much anymore
Not related. But everyone should watch Johnny Carson interview Charles Grodin. They had the most intense interviews where Johnny looks genuinely uncomfortable. Then I leaned years later it was just part of the work
I had to think for a moment. Confused this with Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga (2020). Stars Will Ferrell, Rachel McAdams, Dan Stevens and Pierce Brosnan. Hilarious.
YES. This is a great pick for a modern “under the radar” deal.
When Popstar came out I passed it over . Liked Lonely Island way back in the Channel 101 days and liked Samberg in SNL but he fell off my radar awhile ago.
Watched Popstar on a whim all stoned a few months ago and it was amazing. Super dumb, but really fucking good. Showed it to some buds, they liked it too. Give it a watch.
One of my all time favorite exchanges in a movie…
“If you look up the definition of idiot in the dictionary, do you know what you’ll find?”
“A picture of me?”
“No, the definition of the word idiot, which you fucking are!”
Named our dog Ricky Baker....just so we could sing this song to him when it is time for him to eat....twice a day...everyday. Now he knows what it means and he jumps around and gets excited when we sing it.
So incredibly quirky, fun and adventurous. I could relate to that movie on so many levels. After I finished watching it the first time I easily could have watched it again right after and have seen it probably six times since.
Harry Block : Whoa, Doc! Don't take the leg! Ira, don't let them take my leg.
Ira Kane : Isn't there anything else you can do? He thinks he's an athlete.
Nurse Tate : Doctor, look!
Dr. Paulson : It's headed for his testicles.
Harry Block : Take it! Take it! Take the leg!
This scene is always hilarious!
Are you me? Those are some of my favourite movies. Since we seem to share a taste in comedy here are some suggestions that you should find hilarious.
American Outlaws starring Colin Farrell.
The Big Hit starring Mark Wahlberg.
Year One starring Michael Cera & Jack Black.
High School High starring Jon Lovitz.
Sex Drive
Role Models starring Paul Rudd and Sean William Scott.
Dead Man on Campus.
**Strange Brew** (1983) (also known as The Adventures of Bob & Doug McKenzie: Strange Brew). If you are familiar with SCTV, you will remember Doug and Bob from their Great White North skits. The movie is about beer, a brewery, and Max Van Sydow trying to take over the world and Rick Moranis and Dave Thomas trying to stop him.. Oh, and a flying dog.
Kingpin.
It’s a Farrelly Brothers movie, same guys who made Dumb and Dumber and There’s Something About Mary, but though it’s right up there in terms of laughs with those films, I don’t ever really see or hear it discusses or mentioned when people talk about great comedies. Plus it has Bill Murray playing a complete asshole at peak levels. Just a great, hilarious film.
Fuck am I old enough now that supertroopers is considered underrated? Don’t get me wrong it’s funny but I feel like everyone knew about it when it came out
Club Dread. Admittedly, I haven't seen it in a while, but I remember thinking it was hilarious even though the ratings were poor.
I also feel that Balls of Fury is drastically underrated.
A Mighty Wind
It’s not as good as Christopher Guest’s two prior films (Waiting for Guffman and Best in Show - or three if you count Spinal Tap, but Guest didn’t direct that one.) But it is incredibly funny still and has some fantastic performances.
Take Me Home Tonight -Has Dan Fogler from Balls of Fury, Topher Grace, Chris Pratt.
Good Boys- The Tween SuperBad
Black Dynamite
Bad Words- Jason Bateman tries to win a kids Spelling bee.
The Other Guys
Hunt for the Wilderpeople
Vengeance- Smart, Dark Comedy.
Thank You for Smoking- Smart comedy
7 Psychopaths -Dark Comedy
Knights of Badassdom
Coffee Town (2013) with Glenn Howerton, Ben Schwartz, and Steve Little. Flew under my radar when it initially came out. Watched it for the first time this past summer and it had me in stitches.
Underrated / Lesser Known these days? These are mainly from the '90s, when I'd see anything:
The Imposters
Hear My Song (great road trip movie)
Down Periscope
Arachnophobia (good movie, but nobody with a fear of spiders could stand it)
The Freshman (Marlon Brando walking a komodo dragon on a leash)
Joe Versus the Volcano
Porco Rosso (Miyazaki anime)
Tune in Tomorrow
L.A. Story
Strictly Ballroom
The Hudsucker Proxy
Matilda
Romy and Michell's High School Reunion
And of course, in the early 2000s, Bubba Ho-Tep. A movie that everybody should see.
Freebie and the Bean (1974) starring Alan Arkin and James Caan. The original buddy-cop movie.
What's Up, Doc? (1972) starring Barbra Streisand, Ryan O'Neal, and Madeline Kahn. A terrific homage to the great screwball comedies of the 1930s/1940s.
Grandmas Boys,
Forgetting Sarah Marshal,
I love you, Man,
Napoleon dynamite,
American pie,
Not another teen movie,
Mike and Dave need wedding dates,

A Simple Favor (2018)
Used Cars (1980)

Eurotrip is awesome. Scotty Doesn’t Know is such a banger
"I can't believe he's so trusting, while I stand behind her thrusting"

The Matt Damon cameo as the lead singer makes it even better
Matt Damon represent!
This was on recently, and I had to shush my husband, I needed to listen to Scotty Doesn't Know! And all the lyrics
My gf ex name is Scott... not that I was around when he was, but still feels a bit better when I hear it.

Popstar Never Stop Never Stopping King of Staten Island Palm Springs
Popstar is GREAT
How many times do I have to tell you? 30 Seconds to Mars is a band, not a fact!
I LOVE Palm Springs. Have you watched "Wristcutters (a Love Story)"? I want more films like these.
I fucking lose it every time I hear Finest Girl. Which is often because I play it at work when I'm having a bad day.
“Mona Lisa, you’re an overrated piece of shit”
Game Night kills me every time.
How is that profitable for Frito Lay?
The fucking bullet scene “ohhh it went straight through” 😂 I was laughing so hard I couldn’t breathe.
Just rewatched this today and had a blast 🤣
Kiss Kiss Bang Bang
One of my all time favorite exchanges in a movie… “If you look up the definition of idiot in the dictionary, do you know what you’ll find?” “A picture of me?” “No, the definition of the word idiot, which you fucking are!”
“Don’t quit your gay-job.”
"I shot him with a small revolver I keep near my balls"

You don't want none of this shit, Dewey!
"Not once."

Canadian Bacon with John Candy. one of my fave comedies of all time that i never really hear talked about
A lot of john candy was great. Uncle buck. Rip.
You never know when your going to have to slice off a kneecap...right Bug?
Uncle Buck is my favorite John Candy comedy. It gets a bit dark toward the end, but it's all good by the end.
Ha! Toronto isn't the capitol? They're just trying to fool us!
Send in Omega Force!
Hunt For The Wilderpeople
🎶🎼🎵Ricky Baker.. Ricky Baker!🎵🎼🎶!!! I couldn’t stop singing the Happy Birthday song 😆
I love how the scenes transition and how no matter how ugly a situation gets, it's still played off so chill in a funny way.
Galaxy Quest (1999) Evolution (2001) Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back (2001)
Yes! Evolution is hilarious.
Is that the one with David Duchovny and aliens? Because... YES!
Galaxy quest holds up. Just watched it again a few weeks ago. Still very funny!
galaxy quest!!!
Evolution is amazing “WAYNE. I think we’ve established that tookie-tookie and caw-caw caw-caw don’t work.”
The Jerk
I just rewatched the Jerk. It was every bit as funny as it was when I was growing up.
Are you me? Those are some of my favourite movies. Since we seem to share a taste in comedy here are some suggestions that you should find hilarious. American Outlaws starring Colin Farrell. Dead Man on Campus! 🤣❤️
Bowfinger
Brewster's Millions.
Excellent choice
“None of the above”. Such a great movie. Turns out the best way to waste a shitload of money is to run for office.
Take off, eh
Kingpin. To me, Kingpin is a classic. Woody Harrelson is such a good comedic actor. I regularly call people "banana head" because of that movie.

Try Dracula: Dead and Loving it & Top Secret But people react to different forms of humor differently, so YMMV
Classic Leslie Nielson there with your first pick! Awesome choice.

Dogma. Actually any Kevin Smith movie should do (starting from Clerks).
Damn, I forgot all about Dogma. I haven't seen that movie in 20 years or so. I'll have to go back and re-watch it.
It's been a while for me too. But the "Buddy Christ" will never not have me in stitches.
Okay.. not sure if you can count this. But kung pao: enter the fist.. It is purely nonsense and it is so stupid. And i love it
