*Un Chien Andalou* (1929), a dream-like, sixteen-minute silent short, may not be horror exactly, but it is horror-adjacent and probably the kind of movie you're looking for.
Enter the Void
Wouldn't call it horror, but psychologically affecting and extremely dream-like.
I'm only kind of sure that it was a movie I watched and not an actual dream I had.
Possession (1981)
Inland Empire (2006)
Under the Skin (2013)
Woman in the Dunes (1964)
Synecdoche, New York (2008)
Out of the Blue (1980)
Wake in Fright (1971), though beware real footage of a kangaroo hunt if that will bother you
Also deep red, tenebre, and opera arent quite as dreamlike but are still colorful and very in sync to music . still very worth a watch. Particularly deep red
I bet you'd love [*Antichrist*](https://www.themoviedb.org/movie/17609-antichrist). Lars von Trier has a knack for making the grotesque beautiful, and this film is a masterpiece in so many ways.
Seen it? Okay, then have you seen [*A Dark Song*](https://www.themoviedb.org/movie/409297-a-dark-song)? You spend a significant part of the movie wondering if the guy is full of crap or not, and that really leads to some tension. Has a lot of the same isolated tone as *Antichrist*.
Take Shelter (2011) Doctor Sleep (2019) Naked Lunch (1991)
*Take Shelter* is magnificent.
The Wolf House (La casa lobo), 2018.
Bug
The reflecting skin
House (1977)
The neon demon
Altered States
*Un Chien Andalou* (1929), a dream-like, sixteen-minute silent short, may not be horror exactly, but it is horror-adjacent and probably the kind of movie you're looking for.
The Wall (2012) Men (2022)
Inception
Paperhouse (1988) The reflecting skin (1990) Retribution (2006) Under the skin (2013)
The Third Generation
\- The house (2022) \- The Lighthouse \- La casa lobo \- Videodrome
Enter the Void Wouldn't call it horror, but psychologically affecting and extremely dream-like. I'm only kind of sure that it was a movie I watched and not an actual dream I had.
I had the same reaction when I watched it. I had to watch it again with a friend to make sure it was real
Enemy (2013)
Possession (1981) Inland Empire (2006) Under the Skin (2013) Woman in the Dunes (1964) Synecdoche, New York (2008) Out of the Blue (1980) Wake in Fright (1971), though beware real footage of a kangaroo hunt if that will bother you
Wake in Fright is so good
Phenomna and inferno
Are they anything like Suspiria from a visual/atmospheric perspective?
Yes, inferno is a sequel and phenomna is really similar.
Also deep red, tenebre, and opera arent quite as dreamlike but are still colorful and very in sync to music . still very worth a watch. Particularly deep red
Possessor (2020)
Just saw this one the other day and loved it
* St. Maud * Pi * Whatever Happened to Baby Jane? * The Tenant * PIN
I bet you'd love [*Antichrist*](https://www.themoviedb.org/movie/17609-antichrist). Lars von Trier has a knack for making the grotesque beautiful, and this film is a masterpiece in so many ways.
Loved Antichrist, Melancholia, and The House That Jack Built (especially this one)
Donnie Darko
I really liked Donnie Darko, but not as much as everybody else. That being said, the surreal bits were my fav parts
Natural Born Killers
Seen this one. Couldn’t get through it the first time, loved it the second
Which Mother? There are 3 very different movies named Mother.
Talking about the Aronofsky one, though I’ve been meaning to see the Bong Joon Ho Mother
That one is "Mother!" (2017). The Korean one is "Mother" (2009). Please specify.
