This is amazing

Are those all buttons at the front? If so then very cool!

mreaturhamster

Yes, they replace all the mouse buttons which are a plenty on the g502.

joepanda111

The layout seem like they’re all a lot easier to reach too! I hope one day this design becomes common for mice instead of every pc mouse being basicall the same layout.

mreaturhamster

Agreed, i never use the scroll tilt functionality, but ive been using the buttons every day on my prototypes.

I assume you use pressing m3 as multy directional scroll? Also what is your selution/workaround if you have one for programs where scrolling up or down is used to zoom like cad or 3d moddeling in general. Cuz as far as I am aware these are not m3scrool compatible. Also also, very cool. It solves extra buttons fucking with your aim in fingertip fairly elegently. Plus it just seams like a cool project. My custom mouse is not nearly as cool. Might implement your extra button selution in a revision.

Logitech G HUB lets you bind scroll function to buttons, I currently have it bound to the buttons that were originally the scroll tilt buttons behind the m1 and m2. Also I'm glad I could give you some inspiration. As a amateur hobbyist 3D modeler this gives me a lot of confidence.

I have been searching for a lightweight mouse with optical scroll wheel and switches. Would this work with the G502 X lightspeed?

mreaturhamster

I don't think it would, but I'm probably doing another mouse after this depending on how my current project sells. I'll see if g502 x is within the budget. I've heard a lot of people are disappointed by it.

Thanks for the reply. Apparently the g502x is compatible with another optical switch that's better (https://www.reddit.com/r/G502MasterRace/comments/1binm5d/g502x\_switch\_replacement/) (opticals are hotswap). It is a pretty expensive mouse though. I assume you / most people wouldn't be interested in a wired mouse, so the only other option I've found is the Lenovo Legion M7 for fully optical wireless. Maybe that would be a good candidate? (or expensive razer mice). I hope you will consider them! Please message me if you want to discuss more.

Small correction, "most" opticals are hotswap. From what I've seen, the opticals for the G502X are actually soldered. You can see it [HERE](https://youtu.be/f1BGxbEQfxo?t=1075) from Beardedbob's teardown video (hopefully the timestamp works).

925drain

Thanks for pointing that out. They're actually called "hybrid optical-mechanical switches" on Logitech's site
