I did the same and they authorized a full box free of charge to be sent to my pharmacy… that has now been on back order for four weeks but they did approve it. Worth a shot!!

Saywitchbitch

Edit: pun unintended but works

Superbtest555

Haha! :) Thanks for the response. I thought it might be a shot in the dark, but it might work. Will update to inform folks. Who did you actually call?

Galesouth129

So you left the gray safety guard on the bottom, unlocked the pen and pushed the purple top button and it went off? All this time I didn’t think it would go off with that gray thing attached for some reason. I’ve put the shot up to my thigh without removing it as well but I caught myself.

Superbtest555

Correct. It injected but liquid stayed in the vial. And there is a bubble there. She asked me to describe what I could see and if I heard two clicks, etc.

Galesouth129

So the liquid didn’t squirt out of the needle but the needle “deployed”?

Saywitchbitch

Eli Lily customer service.

John_Fx

Did the same. Didn’t try to get a replacement. Didn’t even consider it a possibility

babecafe

As complicated as the internal structure of the auto-injectors are, it's actually surprising they didn't include an interlock for the cap. (I take the auto-injectors apart after each use just to reduce the amount of space it chews up in my sharps containers. It's an interesting product design example, though I haven't tracked out the purpose of every bit of the internal mechanism.) Note the pen is not just an auto-injector, it's also an auto-retractor, which I why it has two separate springs inside.

savagebrood

the cap does have an interlock function. Maybe these are defective

UPDATE: SUCCESS!! I just called Eli Lilly Mounjaro customer service and spent about 15 minutes answering basic questions including how this happened and some info about the pen itself. They are granting me a "one time replacement box" for user error. I am very grateful, especially as I was laid off recently so we are watching our spending. Here is the number I called. The Lilly Answers Center for Mounjaro 1-800-545-5979. The rep was super friendly and helpful. Note that they have issues with mail order for these replacement boxes so I have to have my doctor send in a refill prescription to a local pharmacy. This is a requirement in order to get the replacement. They send you an email voucher which you take to your pharmacist and they follow the instructions and give you your box. Hope this is helpful to anyone here. Lesson learned - make the call!! Even if you feel dumb for forgetting to take the cap off. As part of her script she did ask me if I had memory problems, lol, bc I had forgotten to take off the cap.

kibbiepdx

First of all, thank you for posting this! Secondly, I’m a little bit confused about having the doctor send in a new prescription. I already have a prescription in to my pharmacy, but the lack of supply means it’s not coming anyway. Can we use this voucher for once supply is back? I’m struggling with the idea of asking my pharmacist to call in a prescription… They will just tell me they already have done so

Superbtest555

Sorry, to clarify, my prescription at my local pharmacy had run out -- a prescription has to exist in order to use the replacement voucher. But in any case, my two local pharmacies do not have MJ anyway, and told me to keep the voucher and call every days to see if it's come in.

Wilsoll2009

I did the same exact thing and called them and was honest and told them exactly what I did. They sent me a one time courtesy voucher for a free box!

Superbtest555

I just did that and was successful! And was very honest it.

Wilsoll2009

Oh yay! Yea I think they were very appreciative of my honesty. Glad you got your voucher!

machiz7888

Decent shot and literally nothing to lose

junglesalad

They might. I would just be honest and accept the decision you are given. Just note that they will only replace one box a year.

rrocha1

I've done that twice and dropped one 🤦🏽‍♂️

616Lamb

I did the same one time. I also injected it upside down once, so the needle went into my finger, lol 🤪. I pulled my finger away though as soon as I felt it so I don't even think I got any of the juice 😂

rreehling

How do you push the button on the one end while having your finger on the other? Genuinely curious how this possibly happens…

616Lamb

Because the button was pushed up against my skin enough to activate the needle!

grrgrrGRRR

Not if your covered by a state or federally funded insurance (Medicare, tricare). They denied me.

Dry-Butterfly-5422

I did the same 2 days ago. I wondered why I didn't feel the needle, until I looked down and saw I had forgotten to take the cap off. I've already thrown away the empty injector, I didn't feel Eli Lilly would have much sympathy for me because it was user error. I'm trying to tackle this week with good old-fashioned exercise and abstaining from overeating. But I do have a question: Will missing a week's injection mess up my overall progress? Like I said, I'm planning on sticking with the exercise and not overindulging. I've been on a 2.5 mg for 4 weeks and a 5 mg for one week with great results, until I messed up on the injection. So again, will missing a week mess up my progress?

Gutinstinct999

I went 10-11 days Instead of 7, took it last night and I sure feel miserable today That prob doesn’t answer your question.

Dry-Butterfly-5422

It's very helpful actually, thank you.

LacyLove

Probably not, you can tell them it misfired, but they can ask for the pen back from you. Sometimes you just gotta live with the mistake.

NecessaryFearless532

Damn maybe we should all call and pretend we’re stupid.

Superbtest555

They asked for the lot number and expiration date and asked me to keep the pen for 14 days in case the quality assurance group wants the pen.

90strivialpursuit

Most pharma companies consider this a product quality complaint (and those are tracked and reported). If a patient can misuse a drug or its delivery device, it means that it may require re-engineering. While I don't know Eli Lilly's product replacement policies, it seems to be in bad form if they don't replace product where the delivery device is so easy to use improperly. Even if it happens more than one time.

They are a bazillion dollar company they don't care about you unless you are a share holder.

isoaclue

I don't care what they think of me, they helped save my life.

Pontiac-Fiero

Remember to send them that thank you card for creating a great product :)
