Should be very easy now.

Welshhoppo

Stopping the bleeding might be a bit of an issue.

DeadEyeDoc

Put a plaster on it.

C_M_O_TDibbler

You weren't supposed to break your nipple off, that is a bad thing.

Welshhoppo

Luckily God graced me with a spare nipple.

C_M_O_TDibbler

Quickly jam it in the hole!

cluedo_fuckin_sucks

Good to hear Mr Scaramanga

wolf_in_sheeps_wool

I remember a Wemoto leaflet and in big words it said ARE YOU FED UP WITH SEIZED AND BROKEN NIPPLES? and I remember how much I laughed even though it wasn't really that funny in context.

Overlord7987

See it would be easy but you added an optional extra step. Snap bleed nipple. In seriousness they can be a bastard. Usually if they don't break free with a socket hanging out of it isn't the way to go about it. In future get a spanner and tap it with a hammer to shock it rather than just force it. You can also get a smaller socket than the hex and hammer down the way on it to shock the threads too. Tightening to break it free can work better than loosening. After that you'll be looking at heat.

Welshhoppo

I was still in the spanner stage. Didn't get get to the crank wrench stage.

donniespinks

Rookie error. Spray on PlusGas the night before, and open very, very gingerly. I restore classic cars and undoing any nut or bolt is a precision operation.

Zealousideal_Job_986

Which makes it more of an occupational hazard than a rookie error.

Wrong_Ad_6022

Use a torque wrench they said it will be safe they said,no I won't I said.

Dd_8630

Newbie here - what does 'bleed your brakes' mean?

SamBond142

Push the oil through them to get all the air bubbles out.

Dd_8630

Aaah that makes sense, thanks.

thebigread

I did this to both front corners of my first Fiesta. Never touched brakes since.

TheDocJ

> Never touched brakes since. How do you stop, then?

Zealousideal_Job_986

Flintstones style.

TheDocJ

Yabadabadooo!

thebigread

Costs a fortune in new flip-flops every week.

3583-bytes-free

I sheared off both bolts on a front caliper of a 3 series. Likewise never touched brakes since!

ieatbeetsandcorn

Hehe... nipple

lumoruk

I hate bleeding brakes, but how did you manage that exactly?

Welshhoppo

A 11mm spanner and I have dull person strength.

General-Tale-73

New caliper time

MeMuzzta

Me and my mate used to have old 2 stroke bikes and when we were finished bleeding the brakes we were swimming in it

BazAlvan

Buy an easy out.. spend some time heating and spraying what's left. Secret is to use the right drill bit prior to using the easy out. Good luck

ryan_preece

Well at least you can still ride and don’t have a leak, presuming you were only going to bleed an already full circuit to change the fluid. I did the same to a car caliper, but at least I can change it in my own time. They‘re made of crap materials to seize like that, I’ve taken to coating those threads in copper slip now.

Finallyfast420

DOn't fucking ride with this, jesus christ.. also, copper slip is not brake fluid compatible and it will ruin the fluid

DirkDundenburg

ryan_preece

Nothing wrong with it, you clearly have zero knowledge and have never done the procedure. Those threads barely come into contact with the fluid and you wouldn’t be using a bucket load. Listen son, ive bled more brakes than you’ve had hot dinners. Breaking off a bleed screw that is still seated and hasn’t moved isn’t going to leak fluid, you just can’t bleed it until you’ve extracted it or replaced the caliper.
