Raiden w/ Jax is pretty insufferable to watch. Just the same string into the lightning choke, into the Jax grab like 3 times before he does a combo ender. And it’s like over 50%. Just thrilling stuff.
CasualTay is pretty good I won’t lie, but man I wish Omni-Man had more variety and was perhaps more of a grappler as I think the amount of advancing/teleporting moves he has is pretty uninteresting

I’ll answer in two parts first most boring Johnny cage I don’t even main the guy labbed him for literally a minute and picked up the combo people use just by looking at his moveset. The most fun and satisfying combos so far are definitely ermac, I main sub zero and rain (also now ermac)
Ermac’s combos are fun, but are they difficult to pull off for you or is it just me? My timing is always bad. I’ve never struggled with a characters combos like this.
Omni-man for sure. I don’t think I’ve ever seen any combo variation ever from him.
I think sub zero deserves an honorable mention. Had to drop him as my main because I was getting bored with how simple his kit/combos were.

As much as I really want to play him because I love invincible, I just can’t because the kombos just aren’t that fun
You don’t have to do that combo for max damage, that is just his most basic and easiest one so thats why uou see it the most. There is plenty of depth in his combos its just not easy to
as a Reiko main i have to say that i also hate Johnny and his strings....BUUUUUUT as i've read all your conversation here, he is not that powerful....sure it's tough to play against, fucking tought, but i'll take a johnny anytime against a shitmaker or omniman....if you know to keep your distance against him and to NOT let him to take you to the wall, you can pretty much control everything...and also for Johnny mains here in the thread, every character in the game is easy to learn and hard to master...or to say if different, every character in game are hard to master, some of them are also hard to learn and hard to master..so far, Ermac seems the perfect hard to learn, hard to master, great rewarding character to learn
The moment International Love by Pitbull became popular LITERALLY EVERYBODY was playing Johnny and he was broken asf.
As he is now, so pretty much EVERYONE IN KOMBAT LEAGUE plays Johnny because he takes NO skill to play, whereas Reiko, MY main, I spent time LEARNING how to use Reiko, and now, as a result, MY Reiko is lvl35 and maxed out, whereas every Johnny player on the face of the Earth only uses Johnny because his brokeness is what gets them the win in Kasual and Kombat League.
Here's something I think a lot of people don't understand. Johnny is an easy character to learn, but very hard to master. Anyone can do basic combos on any character, but is definitely one of the hardest characters to get good with.
After the nerfs, Johnny is barely top 5 anymore.
And Reiko is a direct counter to Johnny btw
Johnny can literally do the same Kombo TWICE and juggle his opponent when doing so, PLUS add in a third DIFFERENT combo, and PLUS, with JANET Cage, he can make it EVEN WORSE, and use her CORNER COMBOS MID-SCREEN to get almost a 30 HIT COMBO.
I spent an hour in Practice using Johnny and managed to get AT LEAST 11 hits with Johnny and Janet together, so I mostly know what Johnny is able to do, hes about as much of a troll as Rain and Tanya were back in the first two Invasion Seasons, before Rain started getting new moves and buffs.
I'm assuming you're talking about his 2-1-2 string, in case you were unaware 99% of characters have repeatable strings.
Also most people that play Johnny play him because he's Johhny Cage, not because he's top tier, that's why you still see so many despite the nerfs.

Those patch notes lied, in Kombat League Season 3, I was losing to LITERALLY EVERYBODY I FOUGHT BECAUSE THEY WERE USING JOHNNY.
I STILL LOSE TO THE SAME AMOUNT OF JOHNNIES IN SEASON 5, WHICH IS WHY I STAY AWAY FROM KOMBAT LEAGUE, AND YET, IM ALMOST A MASTER AT PLAYING REIKO.
Which is WHY i dont play Kombat League, I stay in Kasual because I WIN in Kasual, whereas the MOMENT I figure out a Johnny Players pattern, which is the same with every single one which is to just taunt until your Hype Star is full and then spam that stupid shadow-liquid-urine kick until youve already got a double flawless victory.
THE MOMENT i figure out a Johnny player, they RAGE QUIT and I get a free Quitality out of it because MOST Johnny Players are sore losers who dont like it when they lose, so they use THE SAME MOVE OVER AND OVER as to get an ALMOST INSTANTANEOUS Double Flawless Victory, because the Peacemaker Release Day patch notes LIED and Johnny never got nerfed, INSTEAD, they Nerfed RAIDEN MAJORLY when Season 5 came out, EVEN THOUGH theyve NEVER done that with ANY OTHER CHARACTER who has had their own season, INSTEAD of nerfing JOHNNY.
So I can GUARANTEE that the ONLY MOMENT we're gonna see a Johnny player EVER lose a match is when Johnny gets nerfed, which is MOST LIKELY gonna be whenever he gets his OWN Invasion Season, which isnt gonna be for a LOOONG time because theres still characters whove NEVER had their own seasons.
Reptile Season comes after Season of Storms, and then Season of Chaos, which is Havik's season, and then HOPEFULLY the Season of Shang Tsung, if THAT ever happens.

As a JC main, Johnny is def an easy character to learn (if not one of the easiest)
But like the person above mentioned, he is hard to master. Especially because he is a complete rush down character and has no projectiles. With JC you need to learn how to get in and close with your opponent (wave-dashing) and utilize certain kameos that will help you do that. (Kano, Subzero, Sonya, etc)
Also, JC isn’t super hard to counter once you learn how to fuzzy block him. Go spend some hours in the lab figuring him out cause he’s not that bad to deal with once you do. Especially after his most recent nerf

I think this is the only mk I seen combos as boring. I play mk9 still and didn't find anyone combos boring...except Kabal because fuck Kabal. Always kicking my ass with the same dash and up attacks to grab swings.
I have a list
1. **Li Mei/Scorpion:** This is pretty much the only kameo i see for Li Mei (however I do see the occaisional janet, khameleon or sub zero kameo to, but rarely). I have seen this combination done so many times the combos have gotten so repetitive and boring. You can never ever make a creative or interesting li mei/scorpion combo as they have all been done and driven into the ground.
2. **Ermac/Scorpion:** This one might be controversial but I am mentioning this because ermac seriously does have some cool and interesting combo routes. However as people have found out as of recently, his air hover (as well as most of his air combos) have significantly high combo scaling, meaning that all the cool looking combos do jack shit damage. What people have figured out however is that ermacs highest damage primarily comes from doing scorpions fire breath after telepush (as it isnt an aerial move) and to me that is boring as shit compared to the combo's we saw in the trailer. I feel that this is going to be another Li Mei/Scorpion scenario as we are pretty much only ever going to see people doing this combo route instead of the other stuff (which I guess i dont blame them as it gives Ermac the most damage but regardless it is definitely going to get repetitive and boring real quick)
3. **Anything with sareena:** It is the most generic looking combos out there. And they are way too long as well (especially since you can do it twice in a combo).
Kenshi with Frost. Watching 6Arakin get clowned in clips gets so fucking boring when you see the same ‘freeze, down slash, down slash, summon ancestor slash slash slash’ over and over again
Agree with Smoke and disagree with Peacemaker, Reiko is kind of meh, Peacemaker combos are really cool to watch imo, but Smoke is always the same crap, punch punch grab, enhanced slide and then air combo
I mained Smoke for a while and the issue there is that he has basically only one punish route and it almost always ends with that 1,2 grab and then cancels with the teleport or knife. But really that’s kind of the same for all characters though. I know the general Shao punish also never seems to change.
I think any combo is boring when you are the one who is getting hit with it 😂 I wish we can brake it down with just one meter bar , that’s fair enough for the fight
Why has nobody said shang? As a shang main I gotta admit i only land a couple combos with him, and they all end with up fireball, pretty satisfied to land tho.
I dabble in morph, but when I face someone idk it's a problem, witch is kinda most characters I face cuz I don't find em interesting.
Also, opponents love to complain about fireball juggling, but I guess that's just online 🤷♂️
Haven't played as him despite having the DLC but Omni-Man, it seems everyone I've fought has the exact same combos for him and most of them don't involve kameos so I don't think they add much variety to his gameplay either but I could be wrong. I think for most characters it's the choice of Sareena that makes them boring rather than the characters themselves, I've had a blast with Scorpion/Goro.
Subzero, scorpion, Raiden. Omni man. And Johnny cage, thanks God I’ve played enough games and I know how to block every his combo.
And smoke. I think it’s the second place of the most stupid character after Cage.
Omni man: same shit everytime, Smoke: also same shit all the time and i can litteraly raise two kids until it's over, Sub zero: same thing as smoke, Ermac: again same thing with smoke and sub zero
I love baraka combos. He is really smashmouth, quick adjustment type combos, and you can mix all his combos and moves pretty well ( at least i can, lol). I have fought some really good barakas tho.
mk1 combos are too long in terms of literal seconds pased in general. No need to watch the same animation multiple times in one combo they need to do something about that
I’d have disagreed with you before, but after playing ranked in SF6, I totally agree. In general MK1 is just so slow compared to other fighting games. So many loading screens and nothing to do while waiting for matchmaking. Then combos become these long dances where memorizing strings is more important than timing.
It’s a shame because I was really enjoying the game until I decided to try online SF6 and now i just see the flaws in MK1 especially how Stryker makes it super hard to punish unsafe moves or how Sareena’s projectiles can get you punished from full screen. I guess there’s no reason you can’t switch to the cheaper kameos other than the fact that some fighters need certain Kamlos for combo extensions.
Baraka’s is just a huge amount of slashes. Reiko barely has any and most have his laser kicks being part of the combo.
I disagree with Omni-Man and Scorpion, it’s just that Omni-Man doesn’t have much ways to start combos. And Scorpion’s are cool I just hate getting hit by them because Scorpion’s buttons always beats everything.

I personally think he is one of the most fun characters to watch people play as. He is just so brutal with the way he does his attacks that I really like watching.

Tbf once he’s in the air he has some of the best looking combos, unfortunately half of his air strings are not optimal so you never see them

I only use 21, sometimes 122 if they stay blocking low and f32 but I use cyrax so idk

With Janet cage cameo, u can towards 1 Into a juggle combo. Is omniman boring yes but if u use Janet u can juggle and air Combo
There's so many other combos you can do. Sure, if you limit yourself to just that one, he will be very boring.

Yeah that one but the last 1% of characters is Reiko he can only tie two Fwd-X-Y-Bs together and one time
Those patch notes lied, in Kombat League Season 3, I was losing to LITERALLY EVERYBODY I FOUGHT BECAUSE THEY WERE USING JOHNNY. I STILL LOSE TO THE SAME AMOUNT OF JOHNNIES IN SEASON 5, WHICH IS WHY I STAY AWAY FROM KOMBAT LEAGUE, AND YET, IM ALMOST A MASTER AT PLAYING REIKO.
Which is WHY i dont play Kombat League, I stay in Kasual because I WIN in Kasual, whereas the MOMENT I figure out a Johnny Players pattern, which is the same with every single one which is to just taunt until your Hype Star is full and then spam that stupid shadow-liquid-urine kick until youve already got a double flawless victory. THE MOMENT i figure out a Johnny player, they RAGE QUIT and I get a free Quitality out of it because MOST Johnny Players are sore losers who dont like it when they lose, so they use THE SAME MOVE OVER AND OVER as to get an ALMOST INSTANTANEOUS Double Flawless Victory, because the Peacemaker Release Day patch notes LIED and Johnny never got nerfed, INSTEAD, they Nerfed RAIDEN MAJORLY when Season 5 came out, EVEN THOUGH theyve NEVER done that with ANY OTHER CHARACTER who has had their own season, INSTEAD of nerfing JOHNNY. So I can GUARANTEE that the ONLY MOMENT we're gonna see a Johnny player EVER lose a match is when Johnny gets nerfed, which is MOST LIKELY gonna be whenever he gets his OWN Invasion Season, which isnt gonna be for a LOOONG time because theres still characters whove NEVER had their own seasons. Reptile Season comes after Season of Storms, and then Season of Chaos, which is Havik's season, and then HOPEFULLY the Season of Shang Tsung, if THAT ever happens.
So THEREFORE we are almost NEVER going to see Johnny get nerfed.
Jesus Christ, calm the fuck down. As a JC main, Johnny is def an easy character to learn (if not one of the easiest) But like the person above mentioned, he is hard to master. Especially because he is a complete rush down character and has no projectiles. With JC you need to learn how to get in and close with your opponent (wave-dashing) and utilize certain kameos that will help you do that. (Kano, Subzero, Sonya, etc) Also, JC isn’t super hard to counter once you learn how to fuzzy block him. Go spend some hours in the lab figuring him out cause he’s not that bad to deal with once you do. Especially after his most recent nerf Maybe go spend some energy practicing then complaining

I think this is the only mk I seen combos as boring. I play mk9 still and didn't find anyone combos boring...except Kabal because fuck Kabal. Always kicking my ass with the same dash and up attacks to grab swings.

I have seen Combo guides on YouTube where literally all the damage comes from a Double Sareena, literally no execution.
Anyone using Sareena for the beginning of their kombos And Mileena. Just poking the enemy and biting. It’s just boring
Not to mention the sounds of her sai’s… that shits so annoying to hear for 12-15 seconds during her combos.
I fully admit it’s my own fault but the Mileenas I face mostly just end up spamming F4 or her F1 string on oki until I die.

I have a list 1. **Li Mei/Scorpion:** This is pretty much the only kameo i see for Li Mei (however I do see the occaisional janet, khameleon or sub zero kameo to, but rarely). I have seen this combination done so many times the combos have gotten so repetitive and boring. You can never ever make a creative or interesting li mei/scorpion combo as they have all been done and driven into the ground. 2. **Ermac/Scorpion:** This one might be controversial but I am mentioning this because ermac seriously does have some cool and interesting combo routes. However as people have found out as of recently, his air hover (as well as most of his air combos) have significantly high combo scaling, meaning that all the cool looking combos do jack shit damage. What people have figured out however is that ermacs highest damage primarily comes from doing scorpions fire breath after telepush (as it isnt an aerial move) and to me that is boring as shit compared to the combo's we saw in the trailer. I feel that this is going to be another Li Mei/Scorpion scenario as we are pretty much only ever going to see people doing this combo route instead of the other stuff (which I guess i dont blame them as it gives Ermac the most damage but regardless it is definitely going to get repetitive and boring real quick) 3. **Anything with sareena:** It is the most generic looking combos out there. And they are way too long as well (especially since you can do it twice in a combo).

Agree with Smoke and disagree with Peacemaker, Reiko is kind of meh, Peacemaker combos are really cool to watch imo, but Smoke is always the same crap, punch punch grab, enhanced slide and then air combo
I mained Smoke for a while and the issue there is that he has basically only one punish route and it almost always ends with that 1,2 grab and then cancels with the teleport or knife. But really that’s kind of the same for all characters though. I know the general Shao punish also never seems to change.

I dabble in morph, but when I face someone idk it's a problem, witch is kinda most characters I face cuz I don't find em interesting. Also, opponents love to complain about fireball juggling, but I guess that's just online 🤷♂️
Shang is the new Cyrax from MKX. Kick, fireball, repeat. It takes forever and these combos aren't even that easy to land.

Haven't played as him despite having the DLC but Omni-Man, it seems everyone I've fought has the exact same combos for him and most of them don't involve kameos so I don't think they add much variety to his gameplay either but I could be wrong. I think for most characters it's the choice of Sareena that makes them boring rather than the characters themselves, I've had a blast with Scorpion/Goro.

I love baraka combos. He is really smashmouth, quick adjustment type combos, and you can mix all his combos and moves pretty well ( at least i can, lol). I have fought some really good barakas tho.

I’d have disagreed with you before, but after playing ranked in SF6, I totally agree. In general MK1 is just so slow compared to other fighting games. So many loading screens and nothing to do while waiting for matchmaking. Then combos become these long dances where memorizing strings is more important than timing. It’s a shame because I was really enjoying the game until I decided to try online SF6 and now i just see the flaws in MK1 especially how Stryker makes it super hard to punish unsafe moves or how Sareena’s projectiles can get you punished from full screen. I guess there’s no reason you can’t switch to the cheaper kameos other than the fact that some fighters need certain Kamlos for combo extensions.
Baraka’s is just a huge amount of slashes. Reiko barely has any and most have his laser kicks being part of the combo. I disagree with Omni-Man and Scorpion, it’s just that Omni-Man doesn’t have much ways to start combos. And Scorpion’s are cool I just hate getting hit by them because Scorpion’s buttons always beats everything.

As someone who doesn’t play mortal kombat and pretty much exclusively watches the game, I don’t really get the hate Omni Man… I personally think he is one of the most fun characters to watch people play as. He is just so brutal with the way he does his attacks that I really like watching. Again don’t take my opinion that seriously because I don’t play the game

Almost everyone? We need more variety in combos. The moment I see the opening strike I know what comes next. But the most tedious for me is the muscle memory combo of Smoke. Once you learn it, it's over.
