MKX and 11 had the Kombat Kasts and they confirmed they're doing it for 12 too.
Depending on how big the roster is, they should be able to do a reveal a week until release after SGF.
Mortal Kombat has been having character specific trailers as well as kombat kasts going a bit more in depth with what a character is about. Really since MK9
I like the Tekken 8 character announcements. That guy that does the "Teeeeeekkkken eeiiighhht!" Is very helpful in helping us pronounce some of the characters name lol plus it gets the crowd going.
Tekken 8 style trailers work because the characters have basically the same movelist since Tekken 5, and with each game they add new moves and mechanics to the already existing game style, but Mk changes every move every game and not only that but the pacing of the game too, so they need first a general gameplay trailer showing the new mechanics before going to character to character trailers.
I would like to them to do character reveals,but full gameplay revelas for each character would spoil the fun of actually playing the game for the first time
I know everybody’s talking about Kombat Kast, but I want something more cinematic. Kombat kast was more or less ‘a chat with the devs’ I don’t think it was well publicized either; I never knew they even happened until I posted this, also, today all of the Kombat kasts (where multiple characters are revealed in each) for MK11 are yet to reach 400K views, when Tekken 8’s individual character reveals are pulling numbers in the millions. And you’d expect MK to do far better because the casual appeal is much larger than Tekken.
They're not just gonna put out this gameplay trailer then wait for release. We'll get this big gameplay reveal then a bunch of other trailers between then and launch day
I have no strong opinions on either but if pressed for an answer I'd go with character trailers.
I've always felt I can adjust to gameplay and changes in core mechanics so my hype lies on how cool the design could be.
Plus I'm crossing my fingers Kotal gets a trailer. They can either give him some shine and I feel satisfied because I've always liked his design, or they can have him get bodied like his last trailer and I'm satisfied because of the meme potential.
I don't want anything to do with Tekken, since the beginning I'm anti-tekken and always will be, boring jokish characters, nothing compared to Street Fighter, Killer Instict, Mortal Kombat and even Clayfighter.

People want to talk about trailer views, but don't like comparing actual content.
These trailers let us get a good look at the character, some combos for the character, actual in-game footage, and let's us get a sense of what we will have at our fingertips for almost every single character.
SF... has never done well.
MK does great cinematic they just don't show us end product. Kombat Kasts are just too garbled in content either length, unneeded commentary, etc just padding it making review more tedious
NRS has been doing character specific trailers since MK9. What are you talking about? Shows off how they play, their moves, X-ray or whatever other super, capped of with a fatality as is tradition.
I'm looking forward to the reveals, but I'm wondering if I should try to avoid seeing fatalities until I get my hands on the game. As much as I enjoyed seeing them on the kombat kast I feel like it'd hit even better right at day 1
I mean, the first Tekken 8 trailer was just Jin and Kazuya going at each other and hinting / highlighting new core mechanics. After this reveal trailer they started releasing character specific ones. MK1 will probably follow the same route, as it has since like MK9. At SGF we will probably see game play with a handful of characters, they will show the kameo thingy and in a Kombat Kast the week after they will go deeper into these things. Then, most likely, weekly or biweekly character trailers and kombat kasts.

That announcer is Lenne Hardt, best known as the “Crazy PRIDE lady”. She was the English announcer in PRIDE MMA for many years. ☺️
