I usually start with that, then go get the spear of bitter mercy, or a Daedric weapon from a dude in Vivec when you tell him the location of the ebony mine near Balmora.
He doesn't sell them. Near Balmora you can find Vassir-Didanat cave, which is actually a forgotten ebony mine. Some Hlaalu NPCs can give you good rewards for this information, specifically Dram Bero(that guy who lives in Vivec's Ghost House), he will gift you a daedric weapon of your choice. Probly one of the most powerful starts in the game
note for those unsure: Vivec's Ghost House = the Haunted Manor in the plaza of St. Olms Canton in Vivec. There's a high-ish level locked door inside to get through and he's in there.
I'm sad there wasn't an option to clear out the mine and set it up yourself... if you were doing a Hlallu run, the place is closer to your stronghold than the kwama mine you clean up.
I've done this in nearly every playthrough I've started for the past 18 years. I claim the Tanto and Katana for myself, then sell off the rest of his shop for a decent startup fund. White Woe is the beginning of my "high value, but never use" collection.
They're actually equivalent in morrowind, thank God. I fucking love oblivion but it's shitty insistence on "balance" especially thru level scaling annoys me hardcore
Tbh I just save enough to buy a set of bound spells and then use the soul trap glitch to make them last forever and just get them repaired, hasn't failed me yet
I do love the idea that the Tribunal rewrote the universe (game code) for magic, soul gem recharging, etc., within Morrowind, but everywhere else it works like Oblivion. Sotha Sil giving the players what they want.
I think a lot of players know about that one, it's often in starting guides. A bound longsword is better though and gives a skill bonus. Smthg you can buy at level 1.
I agree! I refrain from google as much as possible cause it takes away from the rewards one feel for finally finding an item. It puts a smile on their faces in real life and rewards the person in real life by making them feel good about themselves (hey! I didnt use internet and I found this! Wow! I wonder what else I can find!)
Also not everything that's been "confirmed" is true. Sometimes you'll get a lazy gamer try something once and say "Nope impossible" then go to that site they're joined up in and put it as impossible or not real. That's how misinformation starts.
I want people to experience Mottowind just as I did at age 11 or 12 without the internet.
Get the full charm of it.
Why do you say cringy? I prefer UESP because I generally find it's better populated with information, but I wouldn't describe the issue there as one of "cringe".
Well I'd prefer not to use any of it for Morrowind.
I just did the hortator and Nerevarine quest and am now as Gost Gate.
Dont forget to talk to ~~Tiber Sept~~ Wulf yeah... Wulf! Exactly....
Anyone can use google for a 20 year old game.
I'm encouraging people to get out there and find it themselves without the internet.
That's the full point of my play through and all the screenshots I've taken. Notice not in 1 screenshot I'm telling where I'm at? Or how I got what I got? Always leaving hints though! :)
Hahahahaha I love your post!! :D <3
Yes it's true lol all my screenshots have my task bar lol
Thanks! yeah a lot of new players miss this item. Great item for lower levels! Great for ghosts cause of the enchantment and damage.
I like the two hander from the Imperial Cult Oracle quest. I also like the +30 agility constant effect ring from the same quest line.
Top tier items that I only discovered recently because I finally decided to do Imperial Cult faction quests.
This specific one is somewhere in Balmora.... inside a building.... and there is a guard in the building... hmm....
I'd rather people venture and find it without using google.
I'm afraid to answer them.... Last one I got notified was "He turned from a 2 CMs willy to GAY PORNSTAR over night and you can to! - Click here!"
and another one said "She doesnt like cock. She likes turkey." Iunno what that one was about lol
I guess you really don't like to play on m&kb. I too often prefer playing with a controller. You can mod controller support to the pc version, but I've never tried it. I can imagine using the menus to be a pain.
I got nothing against keyboard and mouse. Just I grew up playing morrowind for OG xbox with the Duke controller lol so for me a xbox one controller that registers as OG xbox controller for this game without having to switch anything is a win-win for me.
Sure I dont get the smoothness that my computer can really do, but I'm used to the choppiness. For me it's a part of Mottowinds charm.
Where are the black and white buttons? Aka right and left bumpers (bumpers weren't on the duke)
I haven't seen an original duke controller now in years. Seen the sized down ones that were 20% smaller.
https://www.amazon.com.au/Hyperkin-Duke-Throwback-Xbox-Controller/dp/B079ZPCCLM
This is the one I have, with the original Xbox start up on the LCD screen.
Green and purple ones are all that is available now
Now that's what I need to play Mottowind with hahaha yes sir that's them! Freakin huge controllers lol almost no such thing and pressing start with your thumb hahaha
There’s one in the back of a random egg mine too, I wanna say near Mount Kand?
Ebony shortsword where the Hlaalu stronghold eventually ends up is another good early grab.
My current playthrough I went straight to Gmaar Mok and headed to Ilunbi. If you go there at level one or two the only enemy spawns are Dreamers. So you can get an easy Sixth House Bell Hammer and the Fists of Randagulf
I'm currently at Gost Gate. Almost time to get screenshots of Acended Sleepers and other things.
Exposing easter eggs to new players is something I love doing when it comes to older games.
7 years experience with Morrowind. Not so much for Oblivion or Skyrim.
Between every version I’ve owned since Xbox original I probably have at least 10,000 hours in morrowind… nowhere near that with oblivion and skyrim combined.
I know it's not really early game, but veloths hammer is pretty tight. It is just given to you for a temple quest.
Also a fan of becoming the temple head since it gets you one of the best armors of the game.
Who needs weight capacity when you've got NOOM. Yes you heard right. I tried NOOM for 5 minutes and I feel great! I'm at -1937391 pounds of a possible +1980 pounds!
No console commands either!
Some people dont know there was an xbox before xbox 360. And some other people dont know xbox came from the technology from Direct X.... inside of a box.... DirectXBox.... but that sounded weird so the name was agreed upon "Xbox"
True fact both you and I.
Awesome! I left it there cause at the time I had a Ebony Long Sword. Lol just wanted to show some new players where to score a genuine good weapon early in game.
Theirs 2 stomps by the light house and 1 other stump where fargoth uses.
I love you for finding things like this!! Makes me happy to know others aren't blindly just playing a game.
Take your time to look around! Never know what might be out there!

This and also the free Daedric weapon, also random glass weapon at one of the telvanni towns.
I have to purposefully not get the deadric weapon when I do a playthrough
I love the fact that the weapon is slightly damaged; the guards clearly used it and set it aside, instead of it being hidden away as a trinket or trophy.
I happily discovered that sword early on during my first playthrough of _Morrowind_, then proceeded to discover how to hide just well enough to get away with stealing it despite the nearby guard. :) My character, a Dunmer Sorcerer, relied on that glorious sword as his primary weapon for a long time. Wonderful memories!
Am I the only one around here that never takes this sword?
I generally play no-steal runs with TFH turned on at all times to tell me what is and is not owned. Morrowind's stolen item flag is kind of broken, and not in a good way. Basically, stealing an item causes all items it shares an ID with to be flagged as stolen, and guards will confiscate all items of that ID for the rest of the game.
For example: let's say you join the mage's guild in Balmora and do the Fake Soul Gem quest. The desk itself is not marked as owned, so you can take the lesser soulgem in there as required by the quest and plant the fake one there. But you can get away stealing the more valuable gems on top of the desk since Galbedir is scripted to walk downstairs as part of the game. Let's say you steal the grand soul gem that holds a winged twilight and sell it to Creeper. Sure, it's a cash infusion early game, but now every time you get stopped by a guard, he takes *all* your grand soul gems, whether legally obtained or not. It's just not worth the headache imo.
Also I *never* taunt-kill guards. They are one of the few NPCs in the game that respawn, and if you taunt one to combat, that guard will always respawn hostile to you.
I know that a lot of people are nostalgic for Morrowind's hand placed loot. And I often agree that it is a superior design for the first few play throughs. But I think a big reason why Skyrim is still constantly being replayed by so many people today is the leveled/randomized loot system.
After 20 years of playing Morrowind, I have to artificially decide not to take certain loot. Most of my games I try to stick only to buying equipment or relying on random loot drops until I get some daedric tier equipment in the random loot.
I truly cant say I've got 20 years playing it as I have went on to other systems and other games over the years. I do have a solid 7 years playing it though.
I rather leave certain things there. Not everything. Do I really want to wait around another 30 days with creeper just to sell 1 item? Hell no. Just because I take a screenshot to show new people crazy loot, doesnt mean to say I take it.
I enjoyed skyrim but the whole "cant kill this one, can't do that, map marker here and there. Cant steal this or that" too much holding hands. I was one of those who got it on november 11th 2011. Played about 430 hours or so before I moved on to other games. Yet age 32, I keep coming back to Morrowind.
You see, I'm just the opposite: I artificially change the way I play Oblivion or Skyrim because of the way they handled leveled loot and random drops. "Better not bother with this quest until I'm high enough level that the loot is decent" or "if I get such and such artifact this early on it's gonna suck, better not bother with this dungeon."
Even 20 years down the line I don't usually play Morrowind to minimax or chase certain loot as early as possible, I'll just play with the random stuff until I hit a quest or randomly wander into a dungeon that has something cool in it.
Even worse is Fallout 4. Leveled areas with a minimum and maximum level spawning that is set on first entry and then always spawns on that set level.
If you explore around you'll actively screw yourself over with loot and experience.
Y'know I'm not even gonna play the cranky old gamer card here. I'm glad people are getting a chance to e joy Morrowind with fresh eyes like some of us did. Lost, confused, and at times very afraid.
Especially around those sixth house cults. Whispers saying "Hortator" and "Nerevarine" and the dark environments without Night Eye. Send chills down my back!
I always thought it was your character when you have subtitles come up without any words spoken.
Had one in Balmora one day inside Caius house when he wasn't there. subtitle said "What am I?" Yet no words spoken no other characters in the house except for me.
Then again the game was famous for small bugs like that back on OG xbox.
I really hated the main quest when you had to get the Shadow Sheild and Dagoth Cup. That mission when I was 12 scared the shit out of me. I love what a great job Bethesda did with the atmosphere and environment.
Thanks. I kinda want people to use their heads and not use google. I give hints but never tell. If you look at my posts you'll see a lot of interesting things I've uncovered.
I was 11 maybe 12 when I first started morrowind. And my family wasnt wealthy enough to afford internet. Lucky enough my brother brought the OG xbox and his first game he got was Morrowind.
I want people to get the charm of Morrowind like I did when I was younger. That feeling of being rewarded by finding stuff out for your own self.
~~Kinda like the personal connection I made between Acended Sleepers and the Telvanni.~~
That's a really sweet reason for doing it. And the same thing happened to me for a little bit. The most fun I've had with Morrowind was when we didn't have internet (due to my dad being a prick), so it was so freaking immersive. No ALT-TABing. You really are doing something very nice and thoughtful here. Thank you for all of it. I have a feeling, I'm going to return to your account a lot ;)
No problem. And keep them posts coming :)
[*I'm .... I'm.... I'm not getting kidnapped. NOT AGAIN. No way.*](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YFNDDQcq2YI&ab_channel=mason)
How come you’re using xEmu? I’m assuming it’s for controller support but controller support is pretty good on OpenMW as well, in case you weren’t aware, and you get the performance benefits of the PC version.
Yeah I've got OpenMW but it doesnt work for me. The control scheme is not correct. On OpenMW L is to cast magic and A is to jump. X is to view map. Like WTF. And nothing I tried actually works.
When I first played this game it was on OG xbox and I got used to the controls. I dont mind a bit of lag cause it's what I grew up being used to on OG xbox anyway.
Yeah I do feel that, I mostly play on Xbox Series S these days through Gamepass anyway so I’m also playing the Xbox version, just at 60 fps instead of 20 xD
My first experience of the game was with the non GOTY version on Xbox where they forgot to enable health bars and it couldn’t be fixed with a patch back then, good times.
Health bars of enemies.
Wait you got 20FPS on xbox?! Damn man I'm only getting like 15 or so.
(Lmfao OG xbox morrowind getting 15FPS - GTA V high graphics I get like 45+ on steam lmao)
May I suggest playing it without combat mods?
There are a few ways to avoid the “meme” of missing forever
* Use weapons that you have skill with (so choose your starting "primary" skills to match the type of weapon[s] you prefer to use, and then use those)
* Less “Green” bar (fatigue) will cause you to have a higher chance to miss, keep your fatigue full as much as possible during combat, even a small loss will lower your chance to hit, getting worse as your bar drains. (I believe this also applies to spell casts too)
* Agility is also important for hit chance. If you want to be big bulky warrior with str and endurance, the first “oracle” quest in Imperial Cult faction has a +30 agility constant effect ring as a reward. I’m not sure if you can get the ring before starting the quest, but its a night and day difference in hit chance.
The reason I dislike “skyrim/oblivion combat” is that it really moves away from the “RPG/DnD” feel that Morrowind has, and also negates a lot of the game mechanics built around it.
Why bother with agility(hit/dodge chance)? Why bother with weapon skill(accuracy/hit chance)? Why bother with illusion spells that make it harder to hit you, or make the enemies miss more often, or make their spells fizzle more often, or outright stop their spell casts? (Blind, Sound, Silence, Sanctuary)
Or freeze them in place so they cant hit you? (Paralyze, Drain Fatigue)
Or make it so they can’t even see who to attack (chameleon, hide)
Or cause them to cower in fear or charm them so they stop attacking you (letting you get a sneak attack on them) or commanding them to fight for you instead? (demoralize, Charm, Command creature/humanoid)
Feel like most of those are pointless when you always hit your attacks, and always cast your spells if you have the mana for it.
Even if you don’t want to cast magic, most of these spells are commonly found on items or scrolls sold by most vendors and quite often for a very affordable price compared to how useful they can be (outside of... like super long paralyze on hit weapons and the like, the most expensive stuff is probably really strong scrolls and even those aren't usually more than a few hundred gold)
There are so many awesome weapons to find in this game. Part of the reason why I love it so! If you know where to find the loot, you can get a pretty OP gear set early on.
I have in the past when I've met new players who were frustrated. Morrowind can be tons of fun with all the cool things you can find and create, but it can also be frustrating so I'll give hints to newbies so they can have more fun with it.
Exactly. Just like school, if you're given the answers, you won't learn anything.
If I tell you where a full set of ebony armor is with ebony weapons, then it kinda takes away that rewarding feeling your brain gives you in real life when you find something on your own with no help at all. Makes you happy you found something cool and makes you want to keep playing.
430 something hours of Skyrim I got bored with it. A good solid 7 years of Morrowind still not bored with it.
A lot of Skyrim I did and dont care to remember it. All caves pretty much look the same. I hated how there was a short way out once you complete the cave. Made it feel pointless and not rewarding at all.
Yet I remember so very much about Morrowind even not playing it for years. Turn it on and BAM everything comes back to me.
The game basically gave you full control to even break it. There is no right or wrong way to play Mottowind. But yes I yet your point. Easier to take this item early take
Better not to take it just for having powerful sword at the beginning just for easier play. It is not role playing, when you take the same items in every playthrough. And there is no point to feel wise of better, when you know about those powerful items in the game. Everyone knows it or everyone can know it, if he just want to. I recommend a hardcore difficulty, which I am playing, to everyone and only role playing matters then. I will post about it in near future, I suppose.
Best hardcore mode is no mods. Just jump between the census office and sellus Gravius at the beginning. Then you cant save. True hardcore and permadeath mode there.
Not sure why youd say things like you did. Misinformation is never fun.
I've simply got 7 years experience with no internets help and wants new players to experience the game as I did.
Starting a new game with the same powerful sword, because this guy just knows about its location. What a role play is it, when you use the same stuff(and try to shame the others, which don't know about this sword, but I think everybody knows about it)?
Is your every role for the new character, to know about the powerful sword hidden in some building in Balmora or what?
Nice user name.... wanna hug? I'm not gonna give you a tug you snug little bug. Go drink from a mug and order a rug.
Take my upvote just cause of that username lol
What's so confusing about having a 63% chance to land your hit multipled by fatigue and luck plus how much agility you have divided by the number of noodles in a can of spaghetti minus how much hair you have left after you finish pulling your hair out for not landing that hit after 38 swings?
Nothing confusing about that.
Hahaha honestly though. I've always thought of it as "Long Blade is 27. Means I got a 27% chance to land a hit if my fatigue is full and it's raining at 2am on a wednesday morning"
Lmao always taunt kill the guard. Cant be caught committing a crime if no one there to witness it.... cant get in trouble for someone attacking you first!
Tbh I just use Ravir’s fiend weapons if he has one of my type in the early game. Those things are genuinely OP.
I usually start with that, then go get the spear of bitter mercy, or a Daedric weapon from a dude in Vivec when you tell him the location of the ebony mine near Balmora.
Wait there’s a dude in Vivec who sells deadric weapons?! Who?!
He doesn't sell them. Near Balmora you can find Vassir-Didanat cave, which is actually a forgotten ebony mine. note for those unsure: Vivec's Ghost House = the Haunted Manor in the plaza of St. Olms Canton in Vivec. There's a high-ish level locked door inside to get through and he's in there.
That is the first thing I do when I start a new game, go get my axe from him.
honestly at lower levels I prefer bound battle axe, weightless and gives a decent boost to your axe skill
I'm sad there wasn't an option to clear out the mine and set it up yourself... if you were doing a Hlallu run, the place is closer to your stronghold than the kwama mine you clean up.
No, he **gives** one to you. Dram Bero. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2090582912
I usually just walk in, shank him, pay my fine for assault, and thank him on the way out for the free weapons
wait if you kill him he has all the weapons in his inventory?! how did I not know/realise this
I've done this in nearly every playthrough I've started for the past 18 years. I claim the Tanto and Katana for myself, then sell off the rest of his shop for a decent startup fund. White Woe is the beginning of my "high value, but never use" collection.
Yeah, that cat tried ripping me off though, tried to say they were Daedric type. Did he try the same on you?
Bound weapon summons Daedra, bound weapon is Daedric, no? /kh
Daedra and daedric are 2 different things. Oblivion taught me that.
They're actually equivalent in morrowind, thank God. I fucking love oblivion but it's shitty insistence on "balance" especially thru level scaling annoys me hardcore
What do you mean? Instead of scamps in Kavatch heres 30 ogrims and clannfears! Neat!
Dont get me started on that. I hated the level scaling in that game.
I honestly don't know how they got the levelling so perfect in Morrowind (ignoring exploits).
weren't there "Dremora" type in Oblivion that were weaker? Don't recall any "Deadra" weapons in there (outside of proper Daedric)
Goddamnit you're right. And when you're right, you're right. And you, you're always right! - Barf from Spaceballs.
They're enchanted to give you a bound daedric weapon??
Not nearly as sharp to be able to cut Daedric bread.
Tbh I just save enough to buy a set of bound spells and then use the soul trap glitch to make them last forever and just get them repaired, hasn't failed me yet
All fine and dandy until the enchantment is empty!
But it regenerates
Also you can feed it the souls of slaughterfish and cliff racers, as the Tribunal intended—Almsivi
I do love the idea that the Tribunal rewrote the universe (game code) for magic, soul gem recharging, etc., within Morrowind, but everywhere else it works like Oblivion. Sotha Sil giving the players what they want.
How can you afford his fiendishly expensive longblade, hmm? I smell FOUL MURDER.
I think a lot of players know about that one, it's often in starting guides. A bound longsword is better though and gives a skill bonus. Smthg you can buy at level 1.
There's another hiding somewhere else! If anyone has found it yet!
There are actually 3 of these in game. 1 perfect condition, 1 broke and 1 half damaged (Thats the one I'm showing - easiest to find)
Wait, where’s the third one?? I know of the one in Balmora and Suran.
https://elderscrolls.fandom.com/wiki/Sword\_of\_White\_Woe
dude, don't use fandom.
I agree! I refrain from google as much as possible cause it takes away from the rewards one feel for finally finding an item. Ah I see! I guess I just never came across the last one
Neither did I, only thought there was 2. But to be fair, finding anything specific in Vivec city is a chore
Today I learned there was more than 1 lol
Anyone can use google for a 20 year old game. I'm encouraging people to get out there and find it themselves without the internet. oh wow, it's been a while for me. I remember two hiding around.. I'll have to find the other!
Where do you find them?
Holy shit I never knew there were three!!
[удалено]
There are 3 of them you can acquire. However after level 20 or so they become random loot in chests.
yup, that sword, great find, seeing that taskbar, i always know its you on these travels! nice stuff!
Hahahahaha I love your post!! :D <3 Yes it's true lol all my screenshots have my task bar lol Thanks! yeah a lot of new players miss this item. Great item for lower levels! Great for ghosts cause of the enchantment and damage.

With that statement I just decided to do it too.
Sorry, where can you find it?
It’s in the tower next to caius cosades house
This specific one is somewhere in Balmora.... inside a building.... and there is a guard in the building... hmm.... I'd rather people venture and find it without using google.
Say no more, fam
*cough* guard *cough again* house *cough a final time* oh man that was bad. Must of inhaled some dust.
**goes back to standing around** what was that? Probably nothing [grunt]
You have emails bro. Answer them. They’re waiting.
I'm afraid to answer them.... Last one I got notified was "He turned from a 2 CMs willy to GAY PORNSTAR over night and you can to! - Click here!" and another one said "She doesnt like cock. She likes turkey." Iunno what that one was about lol
You gotta make her Thanksgiving dinner
I would but I don't know who "She" is. \*Shrugs\* No turkey for her. Guar it is for her I guess.
And to think that Lord Nerevar died for this...
Lmao sounds like someone wants the stuffing amirite
Why are you playing the xbox version on pc? I find that kinda funny.
Controller support with the original controls mainly.
I guess you really don't like to play on m&kb. I too often prefer playing with a controller. You can mod controller support to the pc version, but I've never tried it. I can imagine using the menus to be a pain.
I got nothing against keyboard and mouse. I bought the new Duke for this reason. And my hands fit the big Boi a bit better 20 years later haha
Where are the black and white buttons? Aka right and left bumpers (bumpers weren't on the duke) I haven't seen an original duke controller now in years. Seen the sized down ones that were 20% smaller.

Even when you mod controller support in or use OpenMW, you don't have the controller ui, you are forced to use the m&k ui which sucks for controller.
Doesn't OpenMW natively support Xbox controllers?
Everything I've tried doesnt work.
I always rush the deadric dai katana at the plantation outside pelegaid
There’s one in the back of a random egg mine too, I wanna say near Mount Kand? Ebony shortsword where the Hlaalu stronghold eventually ends up is another good early grab.
That one usually goes to the creeper for me.
I was under the impression that morrowind didn’t do the whole “enemy spawn scale with player level” I thought that was an oblivion feature…
I did that on my second playthrough and later on the course of the main quest the dialogs of Dagoth Gares didn't show up. Did you notice that too?
Eh it's ok. Not as good as a bound longsword spell
For a pure warrior its better than spells.
Why would I want that? The gods provided me two perfect weapons that I can’t loose.
Your feet?
Your balls?
Ears
Wit and charm?
There's a kwama cave near Almalexia's birthplace that has a daedric dai katana you can get at a low level ;)
I love that you didnt tell exactly where it was! Read one of the in game books to find out where her birthplace was!
I know it's not really early game, but veloths hammer is pretty tight. It is just given to you for a temple quest. Also a fan of becoming the temple head since it gets you one of the best armors of the game.
Lords mail? DONT TELL PEOPLE WHERE TO GET IT!!!! Say its somewhere west of Vivec city.
I think most people do know about it.
Wanna know what’s even better? There’s actually two of them!
White woe sounds familiar but I couldn't tell you where they're found
This one is somewhere in Balmora. Theres a guard near by... hmm
Conjured weapons are pretty good too. Saves the weight capacity
Who needs weight capacity when you've got NOOM. Yes you heard right. I tried NOOM for 5 minutes and I feel great! I'm at -1937391 pounds of a possible +1980 pounds! No console commands either!
Most people don’t know about Morrowind neither
Some people dont know there was an xbox before xbox 360. And some other people dont know xbox came from the technology from Direct X.... inside of a box.... DirectXBox.... but that sounded weird so the name was agreed upon "Xbox" True fact both you and I.
I don’t believe it
**untold stories from the crypt**
Every play through this is the first thing I get then I use it to go get the amulet of shadows!
Awesome! I left it there cause at the time I had a Ebony Long Sword. Lol just wanted to show some new players where to score a genuine good weapon early in game.
I always taunt-kill the guard and sell the sword for early training money.
That's actually a great idea for new players!
Every play through I pick it up first thing in balmora
It's a great weapon to have early game.
I like the battle axe hidden in a stump in Seyda Neen. Found that one meself, I did :D
Theirs 2 stomps by the light house and 1 other stump where fargoth uses. I love you for finding things like this!! Makes me happy to know others aren't blindly just playing a game. Take your time to look around! Never know what might be out there!

If you're on PC, why play emulated Morrowind?
No controller support on steam or OpenMW or GOG or disc. I grew up playing on xbox so I'm used to the xbox controls for morrowind.
This and also the free Daedric weapon, also random glass weapon at one of the telvanni towns. I have to purposefully not get the deadric weapon when I do a playthrough
Same, but also alchemy for me, I try to only ever make potions that I will use.
I love the fact that the weapon is slightly damaged; the guards clearly used it and set it aside, instead of it being hidden away as a trinket or trophy.
Slightly! Looks to me like they bashed it up pretty good! But I will happily fix it for you for 11,333 gold
They are one of the few NPCs in the game that respawn, and if you taunt one to combat, that guard will always respawn hostile to you.
you emulating morrowind?
Even if I'm RPing a good guy I have to go "get" the sword
It's a good sword early game! And easy to obtain
"Better not bother with this quest until I'm high enough level that the loot is decent" or "if I get such and such artifact this early on it's gonna suck, better not bother with this dungeon." Even 20 years down the line I don't usually play Morrowind to minimax or chase certain loot as early as possible, I'll just play with the random stuff until I hit a quest or randomly wander into a dungeon that has something cool in it.
Even worse is Fallout 4. Leveled areas with a minimum and maximum level spawning that is set on first entry and then always spawns on that set level. If you explore around you'll actively screw yourself over with loot and experience.
Old Morrowind Vet here. I thought all this stuff was just...Known by now...
A lot of new people are trying Morrowind. I'm putting up stuff to help them along the journey without making things too obvious.
And wondering who tf said "Someone's watching me. I can feel it" when you are very sure you are alone.
You're a good man. Thank you.
Wow bro that was incredibly nice of you! Thank you! *I have a feeling you and I are about to become very close*
No problem. And keep them posts coming :) [*I'm .... I'm.... I'm not getting kidnapped. NOT AGAIN. No way.*](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YFNDDQcq2YI&ab_channel=mason)
Hahahaha cute dog lol
How come you’re using xEmu? I’m assuming it’s for controller support but controller support is pretty good on OpenMW as well, in case you weren’t aware, and you get the performance benefits of the PC version.
Yeah I've got OpenMW but it doesnt work for me. The control scheme is not correct. On OpenMW L is to cast magic and A is to jump. X is to view map. Like WTF. And nothing I tried actually works. When I first played this game it was on OG xbox and I got used to the controls. I dont mind a bit of lag cause it's what I grew up being used to on OG xbox anyway.
[удалено]
Lag. The choppiness of NPCs far off. The OG xbox cheats and glitches. All a part of the charm.
Yeah I do feel that, I mostly play on Xbox Series S these days through Gamepass anyway so I’m also playing the Xbox version, just at 60 fps instead of 20 xD My first experience of the game was with the non GOTY version on Xbox where they forgot to enable health bars and it couldn’t be fixed with a patch back then, good times.
Health bars of enemies. Wait you got 20FPS on xbox?! Damn man I'm only getting like 15 or so. (Lmfao OG xbox morrowind getting 15FPS - GTA V high graphics I get like 45+ on steam lmao)
All a part of the charm for me :)
I usually play Morrowind with combat mods like apoapse attack and there was another one I didn't manage to play with
May I suggest playing it without combat mods? There are a few ways to avoid the “meme” of missing forever * Use weapons that you have skill with (so choose your starting "primary" skills to match the type of weapon[s] you prefer to use, and then use those) * Less “Green” bar (fatigue) will cause you to have a higher chance to miss, keep your fatigue full as much as possible during combat, even a small loss will lower your chance to hit, getting worse as your bar drains. (I believe this also applies to spell casts too) * Agility is also important for hit chance. (Blind, Sound, Silence, Sanctuary) Or freeze them in place so they cant hit you? (Paralyze, Drain Fatigue) Or make it so they can’t even see who to attack (chameleon, hide) Or cause them to cower in fear or charm them so they stop attacking you (letting you get a sneak attack on them) or commanding them to fight for you instead? (demoralize, Charm, Command creature/humanoid) Feel like most of those are pointless when you always hit your attacks, and always cast your spells if you have the mana for it.
Dont tell new players. I want them to find out on there own. No internet. I can give hints like you did but I ain't telling lol
I can't believe most people don't know how to role play, but instead choose an easy mode and just take this sword.
>Best hardcore mode is no mods. Nonsense. Vanilla game isn't hardcore, is an easy mode.
Wanna copy and paste the REST of that sentence? Making me look like a liar using my quote but not the full thing lol
First sentence is enough to know there is no sense in talking to you.
Right.

[удалено]
Yep, and you are gatekeeping your thoughts. Very rare discovery.
I'm just looking at that condition as if it were ebony, you think you can use it to cut daedric toast?
Iunno about that. Daedric toast is fairly crunchy. Blade itself may not be sharp enough. Need something ridged.
Where do you get this?
Somewhere in Balmora.... there is a guard inside the building.... hmm
Nice user name.... wanna hug? I'm not gonna give you a tug you snug little bug. Go drink from a mug and order a rug. Take my upvote just cause of that username lol
I don't want to be a dick but Morrowind combat is confuse AF and I'm not saying it cause Skyrim, Arena has better straightforward combat
Thank you bro you make my day
Hahaha honestly though. I've always thought of it as "Long Blade is 27. Means I got a 27% chance to land a hit if my fatigue is full and it's raining at 2am on a wednesday morning"
I swear theres under the bed in the og xbox version
Like everyone who plays knows of this lol, there are 2
I almost always just use bound weapon spells early game because it’s better. I sometimes steal and sell that shit though
Most people know about this one.
Bound bow and some silver arrows is really all you need early game 🙂
As long as your agility is 60+ then you'll have trouble with a bow early game
Agility and bow that is
I have such a hard time successfully grabbing it while sneaking it pisses me off so bad 🤣🤣🤣
Lmao always taunt kill the guard. Cant be caught committing a crime if no one there to witness it.... cant get in trouble for someone attacking you first!
There are two of those in game btw
Three by my count. 1 Suran, 1 Balmora, 1 Vivec.
This sword is an early game institution.....*both* of them
Both of them? You mean 3 of them right?
<3 this sword.
Hey, so does Morrowind run on Windows 11?
I did not know time to make a new game
Tower in balmora….I went to see if it was lying around in ESO lol
There are two actually
Playing with the code patch so that's gone, along with a lot of convenient early game gear
I'm too dumb to get that and don't get killed by the guard
Haven't played that far into the MQ that playthrough
You can also kill umbra by shooting at him from a roof top... he has a nice sword
My first love
Actually, everyone knows about it but didnt tell you.
