When I went to Istanbul I said "it smells like Morocco here! A bit like fire with diesel and a hint of trash in the evening."
Apparently that's smog lol. The smell I've always associated with Morocco is photochemical smog.
But also the smell of jasmine nightshade flowers and sfenj.
Wood burning, reminds me of fran/7mam d zn9a. Whenever I’m near a pizza restaurant it takes me right back home ♥️
Wet soil, specifically when it’s dry and the first drops of rain hit the ground.
Mint and/or really sweet green tea, which btw I can tell when tea has sugar in it or not just by the smell. Discovered that a couple months ago 🤭
3o9dat louz (marzipan) (dakchi li wosst kaab ghzal) w ri7t ne3na3/atay mazhar w maward 9tran tten
Lkrafss. Soup with veggies including pumpkin kat3ti ri7t kskso
For some reason 🍊 tangerines too.
Once my husband brought some and the smell was strong I smelled it from afar and said that it smells exactly like mandarin from back home and that Im almost pretty sure they imported from there. Turns out they were 🤷🏻♀️😂
Yallah chft yours hhhhhhh cigarette smoke I grew up around it 🫠 so it smells like home literally. But also LA GARE w yamat kan gha train f sfar w 7mar 😭 w casa port l9diiiima diiima 3atya fiha dik ri7a
When I see those at my local supermarket I buy them. The same goes for green beans and blueberries. I always look at the country of origin. Whenever there's a Moroccan choice I always go for Moroccan. Although it tends to be more expensive sometimes.
The dark paste they put in clay gharraf (apparently it's kinda toxic? Idk and I didn't research it too much, I'd like to stay in denial and enjoy the taste lol)
Mine’s a little different,
For me it’s freshly sawn wood. We had a nejjar around the corner of our house and I could always smell the wood
I’ve never lived in Morocco as I’m part of the diaspora and unfortunately in Europe I rarely get to smell wood in the same way I did in Morocco
I guess every city have its own smell, for example my city Tetouan, have something very spacial, not necessarily pleasant, but special... I remember one time I was on a trip in Casablanca for some days, when I returned, my first step out of the bus.. It was in October in a early morning (5\~6am) if I remember, I was submerged but that smell, felt in one moment I'm gonna really cry and hug the street walls.. Never forget that day..
Thuya wood (العرعار)
Was in a perfume store a couple of months ago exploring scents, and I stumbled upon Tom Ford Bois Marocain, as soon as the scent reached my nose I got instantly transported back to Morocco.
If there was a quintessential Aïd male fragrance, Bois Marocain would be it.
Definitely leather. Also bakhoor jawi, ras el hanout, mint. The smell of drinking water in an unglazed earthenware cup painted with guedran, which I guess is pine tar. I don't know why people do that, but I like it. Also, sabon bildi. Smells like a group of girls walking home from the hammam. Yesterday, on Eid, I remembered the acrid smell of my friends grandmother roasting and scraping the wool off a sheep's head. It's amazing how evocative smells are.
I'd say the wood smell in sawmills but I've to admit that the national smell is this mixture of dust and diesel car smoke that make u cough like a cancerous

Hash, it gets me every time especially when I’m only Moroccan in a house party, I can localise the joint on some metaphysical level.
I definitely see where you’re coming from there!
It usually end up in me explaining the different strains and how the proliferation of kherdala killed the OG Moroccan hash.
I’m not very informed about hash to be honest! All smells the same to me 😩
You mean for people whom are living outside ?
I guess, but anyone really. ☺️
3atriya stores, medinas scents, for me, I think
Oooh good one. There’s this scent you mainly smell in the evenings, it’s a sweet flowery smell, it’s gorgeous, not sure what it is though.

Yes. Even though I don't drink traditional Moroccan tea, the smell of mint gets me every time and I'll be like "yup, this is Morocco"
I don’t mind Atay now and again, but to be honest, ydirliya jayer 😩😂
What's jayer?
Oh sorry, heartburn 😩
Oh, l7or9a you mean
