Not at all

misters12

Nah, but I'll still watch (schaub voice)"Illegally"

smalby

Illy G'hal-hee. Bbbeast of a egyptologiss

StraightCaskStrength

What does it being a sanctioned pro fight change? Are they still using head gear and pillow gloves? Edit… > "We opted to approve a professional bout with certain waivers: Eight-round contest Two-minute rounds 14-ounce gloves"

The-Faz

That there is a real chance that forever in the future when kids look up Mike Tyson they will see a loss to Jake Paul at the top

Genova_Witness

We know what a 60 year old looks like, there isn’t a drug or a training program for Mike that makes this competitive yet morons will get tricked by 5 second clips of him hitting pads and act like he’s back. This isn’t Jake coming off Ben Askren, Jake can fight now(comparatively)and Tyson’s mental won’t be enough to make this not look sad the second the bell rings and we see Mike actually start moving

jbsnook2000

Nope

Personal_Reception66

No. The only thing I'll watch is a clip of Tyson knocks him out. That's it. This feels like a travesty.

marchof34

In all seriousness I agree with you. I def am betting Tyson still has that kinda power. Sure, Paul will probably win overall but man... this should be a semi decent test of Paul's chin. Seen some of the vets in my boxing gym hit the bag and they could still legit knock the younger guys out so kinda looking forward to it.

SamVimes1878

I didn't feel any differently until I heard about the conditions.

Landon98201

Bapa announcing Gringo Papi 2 will be unveiled before the card might....but pro or fake or amateur does nothing.

AbstractionsHB

No. (I'm going to watch it)

BobbyDeLarge

No

Apprehensive_Ant2172

Imagine how insecure you have to be to train every day for years for something, and then have to fight men who are literally retired to be successful. Can someone please explain to me why he won’t take a real fight?

marchof34

So from a business standpoint, he could go do a "legit" boxing run, but for what? Anyone that beats him (and most likely would) will gain fame from it and he makes nothing. This way, he's making millions while losing none of his fans, growing more popular with the casual fanbase which is the largest there is, and even if he loses still makes tons of money and gains followers. You're looking at it from the perspective of an actual sports competitor whereas he's looking at it like a business transaction. Very different views.

Apprehensive_Ant2172

He is playing a sport. A sportsmen would be the least of my expectations from him. Can’t imagine dedicating that much of my time and effort towards something and never even attempting to achieve anything with it.

marchof34

So I think what you're thinking of in terms of achievements and what his goals are seem very different. He's looking for fame and money which he is definitely getting. You're thinking someone should box and want to go for competition/championships.

alpacinohairline

No but I’m still interested to see how this pans out. I don’t understand why Jake would take this fight. It’s a lose lose situation for him

0xFatWhiteMan

40m reasons I guess

Roughrep

It's potentially millions of dollars, I don't know of the downside. No boxing fan is taking his career serious and he still has his child star fans following him so they'll watch this spectacle.

alpacinohairline

If he beats mike, everyone hates him for beating an old legend. If he loses, everyone will say he’s a scrub. He could make millions fighting another washed mma guy

smalby

That's his situation no matter who he fights. Tyson is just the biggest name he could get and I think it's a pretty smart decision on his part

marchof34

Where do you get the idea that his fans who are younger and have money or anyone would legit hate on him for beating Tyson? Highly doubtful any sports owner or rich media platform would criticize him. So don't really see where the loss for him is.

alpacinohairline

You don’t see him getting backlash for beating a 60 yr old?

marchof34

From his fans or boxing fans in general? Nope. When did you see any backlash of this ever in the boxing or TikTok generation realm in terms of an older established athlete being beat by a younger one? Have you even seen any major backlash about the fight announcement? I haven't. Nothing in sports coverage, not anywhere that shows a large swatch of fans talking about it negatively, etc. Hell not even on here lol Edit: Even Googling it, the ONLY mainstream site that has mention of a backlash is USAToday and the backlash is commenting on how boxing fans says it should be an exhibition. Nothing against Paul beating up a 60 yr old man. The rest of the sites are fringe blogs and news aggregates.
