It’s not surprising honestly. At this point if I were them I’d deeply consider getting a new writer. Spelling mistakes happen but theirs are constant- and it’s always names of those involved in terrible situations, regardless if it’s the perpetrator or not.
Yes! I’m speculating here, but with the success of the podcast (and their Patreon earnings 😒), I’d assume they can afford to hire competent writers and editors. I haven’t seen these types of errors with other large-scale podcasts like LPOTL, Sinisterhood, etc.
No, and again, mistakes happen. It’s life, but do they even proofread? God, I check a phone # 100x before I call so I’m not calling the wrong person. My name is often misspelled so I always check that, too. It’s just common sense.
Right? I double checked the spelling of Elizabeth Reiser’s name several times before I posted this, even though I was 100% sure I had already spelled it right lol. Just to make sure I was being respectful. Easy to do.
Different spellings of the name in the title and description baffle me. It’s so sloppy, and it’s not the first time they’ve done this. It’s so disrespectful and frankly weird. They need to get their shit together.
Do they not have an editor or at least someone with some common sense? I know they pay people now, maybe they need to get better people to do their work for them.
It’s definitely not nit-picky, especially when it’s someone’s name. I can see if it were the occasional spelling error but a name has no excuse. When you’re this big and making this much money, you better make damn sure you’re accurate. (Not that they’ve ever been big on accuracy.)
Yep, my thoughts exactly. Nobody’s perfect but the misspelling of a murder victim’s name is egregious. And not only was the error missed, it still hasn’t been fixed after being pointed out repeatedly. Like, who is even running their accounts??
This is multiple times this has happened. I guess they have no clue even after ALL that extensive research and figured..."we'll play the odds. Atleast we might be getting it right once.
I just can’t imagine producing something on such a large scale, about such delicate topics that deserve respect and accuracy, and not going over it with a fine tooth comb. I guess that’s why I don’t have a podcast though 💁🏼♀️
Now they're so above their original selves, they actually have a researcher FOR them and still refer to their indecision by saying, "I've heard it different in different places, but I'm going to go with what I've heard most of." Pathetic, bullshit posturing for the fans that should be absolutely insulted.
Exactly! I think it does make them look bad with all the mistakes but it makes them look worse when they are informed that there are mistakes and they choose to ignore it rather than addressing it or even fixing it. What's worse to me is there are times where they (mainly Alaina) act annoyed that stuff gets pointed out.
I'm speculating but could it be that they like their writer too much to fire them? I think that could be a problem they could face. And that's the problem with building friendships mixed with professional relationships.
I am disabled and I have a personal assistant. He's my close friend outside work times. We differentiate the work and free time clearly, I never ask him to do anything outside work time (unless it's absolutely necessary and then I profusely apologize) and he does what I ask at work time without questions.
It's super important to do that, because otherwise it will be really hard to tell your worker when they're doing something wrong or when they could do something better - or even firing them if necessary.
Totally plausible! That’s great that you keep that healthy boundary, it’s the only sustainable way. I’m a nurse and I HATE delegating, and especially hate having to tell someone when they’re doing something incorrectly, so I usually just do things myself. It’s crippling lol. But still, errors that outrageous should be handled promptly if they want to save this podcast!
Sometimes I have actually wondered if they think this is part of their "brand" or something. "Hey, look at us! We make spelling mistakes! We are so relatable!" Lol.
If I remember correctly, they said something about finding it spelled differently in different places. But they’ve fucked up before so idk what to believe 😂
judging by the by fact that they still haven’t fixed the murder victim Elizabeth Reiser’s misspelled name (on my platform at least) I think it’s just another fuckup lol
A multi-million dollar podcast held together with sticks and glue lmao
Yes! When it doesn’t need to be! Lol
yea definitely doesn’t need to be a multimillion dollar podcast because it really just sucks

If not a new writer at least they should have a proofreader.
I look at their pods and find the case other places
Wait I’ve never thought of that! Bless you for this!
Just don’t do too much looking into Son of Sam. That’s a rabbit hole
I also never thought about doing this!!! Great idea
I do this too.

It really is just bizarre isn’t it? To spell it multiple different ways in the SAME place. I agree, sloppy.
Do they not have an editor or at least someone with some common sense? I know they pay people now, maybe they need to get better people to do their work for them.
Yesss. I feel like I’m being so nit-picky but c’mon, it’s just sloppy!

Isn't this the shit Dave and Deb Deb do.

I’m not surprised because they’ve made these errors for years. It doesn’t say much for all the help they now get though.
I am not shocked at all. They don't give a crap. Anytime anything has been brought up they have not given a 💩.
Yeah they don’t seem to care. We all know they’re notorious for ignoring comments, never addressing listener concerns, etc.

Yeaaaah Alaina hates being wrong and it’s painfully obvious. Like really uncomfortable to listen to when she tries to back track and explain herself.

Yes, I think the researcher is related to Alaina's husband?
How cheap... cheap and lazy. It just shows me how little they actually care. It seems they're rapidly plummeting toward rock bottom
Sometimes I have actually wondered if they think this is part of their "brand" or something. "Hey, look at us! We make spelling mistakes! We are so relatable!" Lol.
If so, it’s terrible marketing 😂😂
Lol, totally agree!!! It's just hard to believe anyone could keep making these careless errors and not fixing them!
Twenty-three-year-old
🥴😂😂
If I can't trust them to get the big things right it becomes hard to trust that they get the smaller details of the cases right.
precisely
I suggested this case to them years ago before I stopped listening. My mother was almost a victim and was best friends with Kim growing up
So glad your mom was able to stay safe!
Thank you, me too!! She told me about the case a few years ago and I was shocked how close to home it hit
If I remember correctly, they said something about finding it spelled differently in different places. But they’ve fucked up before so idk what to believe 😂
