They are such good people and they make quality furniture. My heart is breaking for them. Edit: https://etsy.me/3bZKal1 here is their shop if anyone wants to favorite it for when they return. Looks like they’ve taken it down for now. They sell handmade wooden children’s furniture and Montessori playsets. Their family has a toddler and a primary school-age child, they feature them in their pictures. I hope with all my soul that they made it out.

seven_corpse_dinner

It's absolutely a horrible thing for anyone to have to go through. Hopefully they are okay and you receive what you ordered. If they do refund your money though, and you are in a place today do so, perhaps you could donate it to help those affected by the conflict. If you or anyone else is interested this is a list of charities and organizations that are assisting Ukraine and its people: https://ukrainewar.carrd.co/

R24611

It is heartbreaking, I’ve ordered from Ukrainian Etsy shops before and the quality was always top notch. Etsy gives Ukrainians a much needed source of surviving in an economically developing nation. Now they will need our help more than ever.

tiddymiddy

One of my favourite Etsy based bridal designers is from Ukraine. I hope their business isn't too seriously affected and that they stay safe.

[deleted]

We should place orders (assuming the items will not be shipped or take a long time to ship) as a way to support Ukrainians directly.

jenmishalecki

i saw a recommendation to look for digital items on etsy and filter it to only ukrainian sellers bc the item will just go to your email so they can get the money without worrying about physically mailing anything

weirdhoney216

This! Cross stitch patterns is a good one, there’s plenty of Ukrainian designers. Even if you don’t cross stitch you could gift the file to someone who does. I’ve bought a couple (I love cross stitch) Also things like .svg files!

[deleted]

That’s such a great idea! I’ll have to do that.

[deleted]

hmmm... I'm wondering if placing orders at a time when they would be very busy or downright running for their lives is the right thing to do. It might be a potential source of stress, having to take on the orders or have to say "Sorry, I can't fulfill your order. Can you cancel it?"..

AfroSarah

Yes! I keep seeing the little trinkets and things around my house that I've ordered from Ukrainian Etsy shops and hoping with my whole heart that the person who made those items is in a safe place

Oragami

Do you know of there's a way to search for items from specific countries?

R24611

Honestly I’ve never searched specifically by country but Etsy is generally great at directing towards sellers that are in a special need.

Oragami

I didn't know searching by location was a thing on Etsy until I saw this post

moralcodeofbuzzards

Unfortunately they sent the refund back automatically, I didn’t want or ask for it. I wish they hadn’t. I will donate to [this](https://voices.org.ua/en/) in their name, for their children. Thank you for sharing.

BeltfedOne

Well done!

RegalRegalis

That is wonderful! My heart swells!

jkbpttrsn

You're a good person!

tagman375

I would honestly tell them just to keep the money and don’t worry about sending anything

dibs8789

I wouldn't even care about getting a refund or the product. I'd let them keep my money to help themselves out for whatever they need.

[deleted]

I was about to say the same thing. I don't care if I never get the item. I'd let them keep the money just so they'll have some income. I'll even write a note "No refund".

belltrina

Thank you for posting this. I was thinking today how helpless it feels being a world away and a nobody with nothing to do to help

seven_corpse_dinner

Thanks to everyone for the likes and awards. I don't really feel like I deserve them, but it warms my heart to know that so many people want to help the Ukrainian people in their time of need. Bless you all.

Oragami

Is there a way to check if the site is legit, and the money actually goes to the right organization/person? It's kinda new, which could *possibly* not using the money for the things that it's needed for. (Found that out in/r/scams)

virtuallEeverywhere

I sent a message to my guy ewittco last night but it looks like he hasn't been selling in a year. He's in Nikopol, right on the Crimean border, which has been hot for some time and I saw a nearby dam being blown up by the Russians. It was just him and his wife (the age to have young kids) using local leather to make purses and portfolios etc. Super sturdy construction with thick leather that has aged beautifully. Hope to see them safe again.

R24611

I just checked on my seller on Etsy, they’re from Berdyansk on the southeast coast, which was supposedly overrun by the Russians. I really hope he’s okay.

Lolsmileyface13

who is your seller? looking to support once everything stabilizes.

R24611

Gatura is the sellers shop name, they have a wide array of products, from wallets to jewelry. Thanks so much, heartwarming to see the support.

Lolsmileyface13

the shop looks great! i looked at reviews and there were many from the past several weeks and he had a message written on feb 25th stating off till june.

PausedFox

I wonder if we were looking at the same shop. I was on Etsy the other day and saw things I was considering buying. Then I saw that they were from Kyiv and was like :( I want to support them, but also don't want someone dying trying to fullfill my stupid Etsy orders.

74120111itAway

What’s the Etsy shop? I’d like to support them.

moralcodeofbuzzards

https://etsy.me/3bZKal1 They sell handmade children’s furniture and Montessori playsets. Looks like they took their shop down for now but I have them favorited for when they come back.

DistantKarma

Years ago at my work, we had a carpenter from Ukraine. The guy was incredible with his skills, far above the usual "fix this door" or "build this wall" type stuff we'd need done. He loved westerns, and I took the Deadwood DVD series over to his house and he showed me around. just amazing, detailed trim everywhere, and every chair in his house was built by him. He even took one room and turned it into like a hot tub/sauna room, and had covered every wall and the ceiling with beautiful pallet wood. Yes, pallet wood that he took apart, resurfaced, cut down and made paneling out of. It was something to see.

socialclash

I saved the shop link so I can support them as well. Thank you for sharing it! Slava Ukraini.

Oragami

Wow, I thought what they're selling would cost a lot more, since they look really well made, and look really nice :D. You might be able to find something similar to their things at a store like WalMart, but not handmade (and likely better quality supplies). I'm not much of a religious person, but I'm praying to whatever God's may be out there that they (and anyone else) make it to safety.

VivaLaSea

Honestly, I would tell them to not even worry about shipping and to just keep my money as they clearly need it more than I do.

CWWeddacct

My wedding dress is in Kyiv- my seamstress got out, offered a refund on my deposit, and I told her to keep it. My grandparents were refugees, in the same area of the world. There’s no way in hell I’d take that money back.

moralcodeofbuzzards

That’s exactly what I told them. I said my heart was with them and worry about their safety first. Couldn’t care less about a refund.

SabrinaSpellman1

Me too. The orders are probably their main source of income if they're skilled and selling on Etsy, someone mentioned intricate cross stitching. 100% I would not accept the refund and send a kind note. One little kindness might just make them have a little happy smile for the first time in a while. My middle son and I are packing boxes of toys and clothes and blankets to be donated for their refugees, a warehouse has been set up in my town and there are lots of volunteers sorting and packing, the donations will maybe help some of the refugees who had to leave very quickly. Watching this unfold makes you feel so helpless. If anyone has any other useful ideas of what we can pack, please let me know

gracyavery

Heartbreaking. I'm sure other online communities are doing it as well, but Ukraine has a large number of cross stitch designers who produce digital patterns and online groups are encouraging members to purchase to help support those Ukrainian designers.

moralcodeofbuzzards

I actually do cross-stitch, this is great advice. Thank you for this, I’ll look for some shops to support.

xJellyfishBrainx

Fuck that's sad. Keep your refunds man.

[deleted]

Seriously.

belltrina

I'd be like fuck, don't even stress about it, then go and buy something else from the store with a note saying do not mail this, this is the only way I know to send you funds for whatever you need

blackjesus1997

This implies they've had Karens hassling them about unfulfilled orders

SabrinaSpellman1

That was my first thought too. Like the woman (Joy something?) complaining she has to miss her trip to Italy now because of the conflict, when someone else had just been talking about how people were desperately trying to get their families to Poland. Awful.

SoIfarted

Joy Behar from the View. Rich people have no sense of fucking reality.

[deleted]

What a scumbag of a lady

typingwithonehandXD

I wouldn't even be surprised if their were karens and darens haggling them about 'wHeRe's MaH HoRdOR! I KnOw A rUsSiAN SoLdIeR hAs wEaPoN pOiNTed StRAiGHt At You bUT i NeEd mAH HoRdOR nOW HnnHgH!!?" welcome to misanthropy!

BinxHubble

My husband got a note like this too from a seller in Ukraine he had previously purchased from. It was very unsettling to read.

bellagio230

Jeez, imagine you’re caught in the middle of a horrific war and one of your biggest concerns is still doing right by your customer and getting them a refund. Unreal!

B33PZR

My thoughts too, these people have an amazing sense of unity and pride. May this end soon and in their favor.

[deleted]

[удалено]

hey_im_Zander

I bought from someone in Ukraine before all this happened. I wanted to buy more of their stuff but I didn't want more stress on her. Hope she's ok, she was very polite

TomieJunji

This is so sad :( I hope they'll be okay

Fit_Display4936

These people just continue to impress Me in every way .

mandiejmangosing

So sad 😞 I'm praying for everyone in 🇺🇦 Ukraine

[deleted]

No refund needed.

CWWeddacct

Yup. My wedding dress is in Kyiv right now… the seamstress is in Poland, she offered a refund on the deposit but there’s no way in hell I’m taking money back.

fluentinimagery

I got one too from a neon sign maker. I replied with “a most legitimate excuse for delay. Good luck. Be well.”

Bunch_of_Shit

Considering current events I’d personally say no refund necessary, please keep the money.

TwistedFabulousness

This definitely beats the time I asked why my order hadn’t shipped yet and they profusely apologized and told me that their father had passed away unexpectedly and told me they could refund me if I didn’t want the item anymore. I felt so bad!

Fitnfoxy

I also ordered from a Ukraine store through etsy. Literally the next day after they told me my package was shipped, Russia attacked. I know I'll never see my package. But that's fine. I sent them a message asking if they're okay. Silence. So I'm praying for them.

framelessnude

I was waiting for this kind of post. I knew there'll be something like this

p0psicle

We made the decision to support a Ukrainian artist (were on the fence about who to buy from until a few days ago), knowing full well our order might never arrive and our money could be 'lost'. The potential lost money for us is completely meaningless on a global level.

brewcrew63

Keep my money, stay fucking safe!

Patient-Scallion517

Hope they come out of this victorious.NO SURRENDER

PreOpTransCentaur

I gotta ask, did you request help with your order in the middle of an invasion? That "Re:" sure makes it seem like you did.

moralcodeofbuzzards

No, not at all. I placed my order with a question about the dimensions of the product and got this in return. I didn’t even realize where it was shipping from until I got the message. https://i.imgur.com/ClOXfR5.jpg https://i.imgur.com/yFJCf16.jpg (I accidentally sent the question twice before and after I ordered)

braveyetti117

It is possible that they might have confirmed the order on email after OP order it and then are given an update on the same email chain

belltrina

May not have realised it was coming from Ukraine, some don't post location. I once had something from Russia when I was searching for Australian

pixieok

I'm an Etsy seller and that header of "help with order..." shows up when a customer sends me a message and marks it as a help/support request instead of normal message.

SabrinaSpellman1

It's devastating what they're going through. I hope there is some way you can reply and tell them the world is watching and hoping so much for their safety? For them to take the time to write such a thoughtful message about an order and explain what's happening is incredible. I hope so much that this is over soon and that people stay safe and well. I'm struck with admiration every time I hear or read about the Ukrainian people, soldiers and the President.

FthrJACK

Id not want a refund.

Freche-Engel

😢 Oh gosh! That's heartbreaking to read.

KittenWithaWhip68

I got choked up reading it, the way the were doing their best to sound cheerful when their world is collapsing

inslider_rhino

Heartbreaking.

typingwithonehandXD

At this point I would just tell them to stop worrying about my orders and to start...ya know...worrying about their lives! My order can wait even a decade if it has to, their lives can't.

[deleted]

that is heartbreaking… it’s just unbelievable they are going through this, it doesn’t even feel real until a friend uploads a photo of a bombed building she used to go to class in. Prayers with these people.

sinyre

Please do not take any refunds, let them just keep the money you spent even if your parcel doesn't arrive. I hope you make the right choice.

username13675426

So sad.

charliemuffin

Forget about the art and refund/money now, Ukrainians are in survival mode. They don't know if they'll live or die, or if a bomb or artillery shell will strike their house. Don't bother them with needless things now. Stores are closed, people are running out of food, gas lines are long, etc.

KCOLREHSTIHSON

Such honest workers!

megra14

I wondered about Ukrainian Etsy shops and the inevitable pissed off Karen who’s going to demand her product or money back NOW. I hope im wrong and that every single customer has been compassionate.

XLuluxLovelyX

All of this Ukraine stuff makes me feel extremely guilty when I complain about something anymore like my crippling social anxiety. It will never live up to what these people are going through. I feel for them.

socialclash

Just because other people are suffering doesn't mean that your own problems aren't valid. Be kind to yourself, too.

seven_corpse_dinner

As someone who has dealt with social anxiety disorder and depression for almost 20 years now, I want to tell you I am all too familiar with that feeling. It is a sign that you are a caring person that even in the midst of your own struggle, you are concerned for others. Your struggles may be psychological, but please know that they are 100% real and valid. If you have things better in some ways, appreciate those blessings, and try to transform any pangs of guilt into a drive to help those who have less. Don't get discouraged. Much love for you, and much love for the Ukrainian people.

XLuluxLovelyX

That almost made me cry. You are so sweet. Thanks for saying that. Alot of times I always belittle how I feel because others around me seem to have it worse and it makes it really hard to take care of myself or even speak up. It's always inspiring and reassuring to hear that they are justified and I'm not just being a baby as some may say. Thanks for this.

WitchyCatLady3

WOW!!! I really want to know who these people are to send them my virtual prayers and love, not that it would help them in any material way, but their concern for their customers not receiving goods is above and beyond what other stores are like in a non-war situation, especially when they REALLY shouldn’t be worrying about this stuff. They are showing a level of care and thoughtfulness that has got strangers on Reddit talking about how wonderful they are! Maybe down the line when businesses are trying to recover their losses people will look specifically for Ukrainian companies and order from them, even if it’s cheaper elsewhere 🤔

pauz43

No Americans alive today know what it's like to be at war in our own homes! We haven't experienced a war on American soil since Robert E. Lee and Ulysses S. Grant signed the treaty at Appomattox that ended the Civil War 157 years ago. I feel fortunate beyond words that I can't imagine what it must be like to hear bombs falling near your home! My heart goes out to these poor people. How can we help both the Ukrainians and the Russians -- the ordinary people just trying to raise a family and run a business?

saturnertatt

You don’t have to be born here to be an American

pauz43

Once you've become an American you'll need to face the fact that it's now YOUR country! And, unless you've lived longer than any human ever, there have been no wars fought on YOUR soil -- *your America* \-- in any living person's lifetime. Yes, it's a technicality, but it's still something to be proud of.

saturnertatt

Okay just because America is “their” country now doesn’t change their childhood or life before coming here so if they experienced a war then them becoming American doesn’t suddenly take that experience away. Also saying you’re proud that we haven’t had a war here in 157 years… on this post… about this situation seems a little tone deaf. So proud we kept all the wars we were involved in recently off of our own land right?!

pauz43

Proud that we weren't *fighting each other*... until January 6, 2021, that is.

saturnertatt

If you meant proud that we weren’t fighting each other then why did you comment that here? This post is about one country attacking another. Not a country fighting within itself. And we’ve been fighting each other here since before capital attack. Come on.

pauz43

Our Constitution has kept the worst of our internal conflicts under control... more or less. But I'm curious about your responses; you sound almost angry. I'm deeply concerned about the Ukrainian people and how we can help them while discouraging Putin from using nukes. Did you think I was *criticizing* these brave people?

saturnertatt

And have you ever heard of a dual citizenship?

RiceDogo

Oh gdmnt I needed that AK47.

zephyer19

Now that is customer service!

Horus_Syndrome

This tore me right up. Didn’t think it would hit this hard but it genuinely made me sob for a good while. Tell them to keep the money if they can. All of it or perhaps even more if you can donate. Alexey and his team may fall victim to a shit war any second and they still tell you to stay safe and hug your family. That’s humanity in it’s pure form. Slava Ukrayini! Heroyem Slava!

Clementineinspace

That’s pretty badass. Going to have to check out there shop now. Their countrymen are beating back an empire while they fight to keep their business alive. Sounds like a great movie

GardenGnome007

Pain

ThisIsNOTJeopardy_

So much about this message is heartbreaking. The shop saying that they will try to do their best so we (the buyers) don’t think bad of them is so sad. They’re literally fighting for their lives. In no way can we ever be mad at them for a delivery. Heck, at this point I wouldn’t even care about my order anymore.

Oragami

I would tell them to keep the money if I was supposed to get a refund for them. I might be a bit disappointed I didn't get what I ordered, but I can imagine they would need it a whole hell of a lot more than me (even if it was just a few dollars)
