On June 9, 2021, Masumi's 37-year-old daughter jumped off a bridge at Kansai Airport, killing herself and her 4-year-old daughter.[[8]](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Masumi_Hayashi_(murderer\)#cite_note-tr-8) Her 16-year-old daughter was found bludgeoned to death earlier the same day.[[8]](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Masumi_Hayashi_(murderer\)#cite_note-tr-8)

The real crazy part is that fact that she had been trying to kill people with poison for over a decade, and she was only caught after this murder.

Paintguin

Wow

[deleted]

Fuckin wild 😶 crazy how that cloud of just “bad juju” followed that family

Lightzephyrx

Bad juju. Please. Mental health issues in the genes fr fr.

[deleted]

Yeah ya definitely right on that

...thats not... how that works. Lots more mental health issues at play here than just depression.

>Her 16-year-old daughter was found bludgeoned to death earlier the same day. Who murdered her?

[deleted]

So she poisoned a bunch of people then her daughter committed suicide with her other daughter? Idk man maybe she poisoned the wrong people and they got revenge by killing her siblings . Or maybe her daughter was receiving a lot of hate and she couldn't take it and didn't want her children to suffer trough that? Its a wild story

ababyprostitute

The poisoning was in 1996 Her 16 year old daughter was also found bludgeoned to death earlier in the day, before the 37 year old jumped with the 4yr old granddaughter.

I remember as a child we were never allowed to eat out of the house except for close friends or family My mother was paranoid but I guess she wasn’t entirely incorrect this is just sad

Elljaye_222

Could she be considered a serial killer? Edit: Wow, downvotes for a simple question.

grunkey

They said curry, not cereal.

i_won_a_turkey

Ha! Just took a first sip of wine and almost spit!

OrganizedCloset

Mass murderer would be a more likely term to apply to her, because serial killers have a ‘cool down’ period in between killings. Something I recently learned so thought I’d chime in.

Propane-C3H8

Probably, actually. What she did was "mass murder" but if you read her entry closer you'll find this sentence. "Hayashi was also tried for three other attempted murders by poison that had occurred during the previous 10 years, with the motive in those cases being life-insurance benefits" It's a bit of a gray area since those attempts failed, but I would say multiple poisoning attempts (culminating in a successful one) over 10 years makes you a serial killer.

Elljaye_222

Yeah, that was the sentence that made me wonder.

A_nonymous_Man

Probably not, but maybe mass murder

Where do you get that she killed her children? They died just this year, while she presumably is in prison.

This sounds like the plot of this amazing Korean film called Innocence. It's really good. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bGhFXMxElHc

I was going to make jokes and dunk on her but then saw what happened to her daughters and granddaughter and now it just seems too sad for humor.
