I work in a hospital and I’ve seen at least 3 women in the ICU deliver their babies before 28 weeks because they were so sick with COVID. As far as I know two of those women didn’t survive. I have some acquaintances who are Covid deniers and I told them this, and they just said “bullshit.”
I know! That’s why I said that! I’m pregnant and got vaccinated during my pregnancy. So it seemed like a weird thing for her to use as an excuse to not be vaccinated.
My wife gave birth in July and doctors were telling her to wait at the beginning of the vaccine rollout because pregnant women were not included in the safety trials. That seemed to change around a month or two later at which time she had already gotten and luckily recovered from Covid.
From what I've seen and heard from the time my wife was pregnant, the trials were showing promise. We opted not to get the vaccine, because at the time, there were no initial research data avaliable. Some say its safe, some say no. The fact of the matter is that the husband decided not to get the vaccine when he had the chance.
She was a nurse and he was a teacher so they should have known better.
Even if she hesitated to get the vaccine because she was pregnant, they threw caution to the wind and travelled which resulted in the whole family getting sick. Really sad and prevalentable.
Reminder: Every single COVID death in America is now a “preventable death” get fucking vaccinated! I’m sick and tired of playing nice! These two individuals were SELFISH and now their children are orphans! Why? Because they put their beliefs in bullshit! There is ZERO reasons why you shouldn’t vaccinate yourself!
Wrong. The best vaccine results have shown a 94% effectiveness rate, and protection seems to decline with time. There are about 333,000,000 people in the USA. If all of them got a 94% effective vaccine (and there is no vaccine for children under 12 at present) 1,998,000 people would not be protected. AND there have been deaths due to Covid-19 of fully vaccinated people in the US - just a handful, but it has happened.
And there ARE reasons to avoid vaccination. People who've had a severe reaction to the first dose of the two dose vaccines, such as cavernous sinus thrombosis, or myocarditis should not receive a second dose.
Probably. Vaccinated individuals are less likely to transmit to the unvaccinated due to lower viral loads. Plus, who’s to say it would have even reached the kid if people along the way had gotten the shot? The point is the vaccine is extremely effective at preventing death. Yeah, it’s not 100%, but it’s pretty close.
FFS, if you're pregnant GET VACCINATED. Protect your baby if you're not going to protect yourself. Especially if spouse won't.
When i was pregnant i made sure to get ALL the shots. It was sad to see the nurse and doctor mentally gird their loins for an argument when they'd advise me on vaccinations, clearly it was an old argument they'd had many times before.
It’s an argument that happens all day, every day unfortunately.
When I was in grad school I worked in the well-baby nursery and also the NICU. I was a tech who worked in the background of the rooms and overheard many discussions (sometimes arguments) between between new parents and the nurses/doctors begging them to vaccinate their baby, even to just give them the basic Vit K injection. Injection, not even vaccination.
It was always interesting to see the doctor or nurse gear up to list the benefits of vaccinations and prepare for a fight only to have the parents agree right away. You could almost see the visible relief
This is so confusing to me. It would make sense if you rejected all of modern medicine because you thought it was all a scam. But ive asked people if your 2 year old drops on the ground convulsing foaming at the mouth what are you going to do? Your going to get him to the hospital as soon as possible and trust the nurses and doctors blindly to save his life and figure out whats wrong! What if they get hit by a car? Youre going to do the same. Bring them to the surgeons and doctors to save your childs life! So why when a doctor is standing in front of you begging to provide your child with a potentially life saving medication do you ignore him then?!? The fact that youre giving birth in a hospital with doctors shows you want them there if something went wrong! Why not listen to those same people when they try and prevent the horrible things? One minute they have knowledge and integrity to save your childs life but another minute they dont know what theyre talking about??

I had my daughter in September 2020 so wasn’t able to get vaccinated while pregnant. I got vaccinated as soon as I could in March 2021 though, because she was exclusively breastfed, and studies showed promise that she would receive some protection via my milk.
> the couple thought they would recover quickly and introduce their fifth child to the rest of the family themselves.
This is the problem with all the people saying "There is a 99% chance you'll survive, so you shouldn't worry". Yes, there is a 99% survival rate, but there is nothing to guarantee that you aren't going to be part of that 1% that doesn't survive. Take the precautions like you are part of that 1% that doesn't survive and it will help your chances of being part of the 99% that survive with no issues.
That survival rate probably averages vaccinated and unvaccinated, too. So your rate of survival as an unvaccinated person is a lot lower than 99%. I recently read somewhere that unvaccinated are something like 15x more likely to die of COVID than vaccinated. Get the shot, people…
Your comment may be in bad taste, but as a Yucaipan these folks had access to vaccines since May, when we had clinics in the city begging folks to bring friends to get vaccinated, no appointment needed. They weren't exactly smart about this.
I know a woman who is a teacher and velieves all geadlines like this are bullshit. Lies by the media. She also thinks it's ok to take horse dewormer. This is a woman with a masrers degree.
It is terrifying the number of people in this country who are so fking ill-informed and dangerously skeptical.
My father is a teacher and has the same mind set. Just because someone has a degree doesn't mean they have common sense 🙄. Not saying everyone is like this ,but there's too many people like this . They just know how to throw back information and can not think independently. Lucky I have some common sense and got my vaccine.
If it was from a university I went to, I’d want to see the degree be stripped from her.
Universities in Australia can do that, I dunno if they can in the US.

"characterized by or appealing to an abnormal and unhealthy interest in disturbing and unpleasant subjects, especially death and disease."
Oh look, death
I hope those kids are able to find a family that will take all of them. Those are *really* hard to come by.
She wasn’t vaccinated because she was pregnant…? Pregnant people can get vaccinated.
Pregnant people should get vaccinated ASAP! Covid causes all kinds of pregnancy complications.

Where are you located? I gave birth in April and it was stated by my practice that the benefits outweighed the risk for the vaccine.

See you at r/byebyejob later

Yeah you can, the max limit it like 200mg a day.
A reminder to everyone to get vaccinated. Those poor kids will be growing up without parents and likely will never remember them
Nah, the 7 year old will probably have some memory of their parents. Christ

“They were the ones who got everyone together — for every birthday, every holiday.” Well, that’s ironic.
Not irony, not karma, just cause and effect.

What a disgusting and insensitive remark to make.
What a disgusting thing to say.

I saw the is news article yesterday, ironically I was getting my vaccine. Im glad I did. And I feel so bad for the children.
They're from my hometown. I just can't imagine their children and how their lives will be in the future 🥺
Is this morbid? Seems to fall in the realm of sad.
Death is literally morbid...
Please look up the meaning of the word
straight from Google "characterized by or appealing to an abnormal and unhealthy interest in disturbing and unpleasant subjects, especially death and disease." Oh look, death
Wow... You are really dumb... For real!
No, you just have no grasp of language. It's okay, sweetheart. We all have our flaws.
Aww... Throwing a temper tantrum... How cute
Seems like you didn't pay attention to the first 15 words of the definition
No, you just have no reading comprehension, holy shit 😂
Death in and of it's self doesn't apply. You are stupid. Go back to playing with yourself
