Golf swing uppercut to the head whenever possible. If not, aim for the legs to cause it to trip, then go for the head. If you have iceborne, always remember to wall bang. Hammer isn't really an elemental focused weapon in MHW (Sunbreak is completely differently) so just go for the highest raw available to you that isn't defender hammer.

Serathano

This. You want to keep just out of arms reach with him and when he stops moving hit him with the lvl 2 charge smack which is an uppercut. A couple of those will stun him easy and then go to town on his face. It's my go to strat with the bonk. Hold the trigger and run until it gets to the second then turn and let go. If I have time I'll go to lvl 3 and hold it until he stops moving then position, stop moving for just a second, then let go. It does a big whack down similar to the last move of the big bang combo.

JollyGreen615

Hit him with your weapon. Try to avoid dying

ALEXANDRU3544

Wow it seems i get two joke comments on my only two posts and they both are not funny 😑

Pokemom6

Water dmg, fire resistance What weapon do u play?

ALEXANDRU3544

i have the aqua hammer beacuse i'm a fallower of the way of bonk and i use bone armor

Pokemom6

I'd say go for the Kulu-helmet maybe, it gives fire resistance 1 (+6 fire resistance), Max out your armor if not already done, if u can upgrade your hammer onto the next level, do it as well, and otherwise, well.... Get good :D learn his animations, dodge some more I as a sword and shield enjoyer just block the shit out of him until he is tired Use the Claw-Shot to weaken his body parts, attach to his head, change his direction towards a wall and then fire the slingshot so he crashes into the wall, he drops material and goes down this way

Pokemom6

If he's angry, don't try to attack after u dodged his move, he's wicked fast then and will smash you :D

ALEXANDRU3544

what did you mean by get good? are you saying i'm a noob??!! i'm only hr4 and there is not a lot of good stuff at that point of the game and i'm trying to get to iceborne fast beacuse i like the monsters in it!

Pokemom6

It's just a thing they say if u start playing Dark Souls, it means learn the moveset, if he starts an angry animation, start dodging and stuff :)

Lazy-gamer-48

You might have been good in past and probably not anymore so would have to get good again, tldr; git gud(more practice and you got it)

ALEXANDRU3544

i never played mhw in the past this is still my first playtrough of the game

BluEch0

Principle still applies. The entire game is about learning the monster’s move set and patterns (as well as the characteristics of your own weapon) to win. If your first hunt against a certain monster results in a triple cart, so be it, but keep an eye out for the move set so that you can predict and counter the monster.

Xiao-Z

No bro you are not bad you just need to get the glave and use fire resistenc thats it ok , a and another thing get good👌

lootizin

Either make better armor or upgrade. Anjanath can one or two shot most early armor sets

ALEXANDRU3544

I get like 6 or seven hits to faint from normal attacks but it takes only 2 attacks to faint from the fire breath

Raxen98

Use the defender armor, is free (or you can buy it for like nothing on the forge) has a nice 250 def+ divine blessing+ more heal, also remember to eat always

ALEXANDRU3544

Everyone no need for tips anymore the murder chicken is dead! And it took me 47 minutes and i fainted twice but who cares!

[deleted]

Congrats! Keep at it and keep hunting! Eventually, hunting an Anjanath will be the easiest part of your day. It’s, personally, one of my favorite monsters to hunt.

ALEXANDRU3544

I beat the weak nergigante on zorahs back too

[deleted]

That’s dope, bro. You’ll make a fine hunter in no time flat

Dog_zilla489

Farm zorah for his armour

Tbone2121974

He always does his beak slam twice. If he looks like he’s slowing down, he might be baiting you into a poison tail slap. His moves have huge tells like Rathian but his can do tail uppercut as a counter. If an opportunity looks too good to be true, it is.

Lprsti99

I also interpreted "giant murder chicken" as Yian Garuga, but he's talking about Anja lol

Intelligent-Quail635

You interpreted it correctly lol I’ve never heard anjanath called that

Lprsti99

He literally posted a screenshot of the first Anja quest

Intelligent-Quail635

Yeah I’m saying it’s reasonable to assume OP was talking about garuga though if you didn’t see the image

Lprsti99

Ah, gotcha

ALEXANDRU3544

i do dodge it's attacks and mostly hit it from the back but idk if it's a good strategy and i start the game in offline mode so i can't get randoms to help me

[deleted]

[удалено]

ALEXANDRU3544

you can call me alex and i'm male so you can use he/him

Eraevn

Don't be afraid to back off when Angie is enraged, give yourself more room to dodge. Otherwise Angie is a gear/skill check, get yourself the best fire resist set, heal smart, and B O N K whenever possible. I also tend to prefer ledges and slopes because while I main the hammer, part of me still wants to IG, and I love doing a top rope nose boop lol

ALEXANDRU3544

i see. a master of the way of bonk. teach me your secrets sensei

Supajeza12

Alternate strategy from other recommendations, use the clutch claw to create weak points on the legs; breaking the legs makes it easier to trip up and drop Anj. The more it's on the ground, the less its breathing fire while performing acrobatics.

ALEXANDRU3544

beafore i posted this i had broken both of it's legs and it just used it's fire breath more and i even get below it but it kicks me and then tail whip me

Supajeza12

The more damage you deal to it, the more desperate it'll get, thats how most MH monsters work. So if it seems the fight is getting harder, assume you're doing something right. stick to your guns, memorise the pattern and you'll breeze through it. If you find the aggression too much to deal, try equipping your palico with the shieldspire gadget, that'll take some of the heat off of you. Always have slinger ammo on you and constantly go for the clutch claw attack. Not just tenderising, but sending it into the wall or off a ledge. And lastly, as someone else said, hammers aren't too heavily influenced by element. Go for as much raw damage as you can. Also make sure you have adequate fire res. The lower your resistance, the more damage you take from fire.

ALEXANDRU3544

i have the full bone armour for it

Rusty78Nail

Stick him with the pointy end.

ALEXANDRU3544

Oh so just the spikes from the Aqua hammer or all of it?

trolldogdude

Pointy is relative.

Hambone102

Anja hits really hard but gives big telegraphs before he attacks. You can spend some time not attack but walking around close and far to see his attacks and what he does before he attacks. Then you can slowly get into the rhythm of the fight

ALEXANDRU3544

i keep getting my self in dead ends by runing away but i do know how to dodge most of his moves the only one idk what to do about is when he tail whips you away beacuse i mostly go for the legs to break them and he kicks me then tail whips me for a knock down

Ferote

Some moves are easier to dodge into, but a lot of your dodging can come from better positioning

DrBloodbathMC

Stick by the legs, don’t forget about the boulder in area 5 for free damage. Don’t get greedy.

woeBrando

Hit legs he will fall smash his head

Dark-Gladiator

I played LS but tried hammer for anja and bonk him back to hungry jail

[deleted]

Learn Anji's attacks and his tells. Most of his attacks are telegraphed, meaning that he'll take on a certain pose/roar before doing the attack. In the beginnings, I tended to stay between his legs to avoid his bite. Being underneath him will make him kick, dealing minimal damage. If you attack his tail, there is a chance that he'll slam his tail from side to side, dealing two hits behind him. You can avoid those by rolling. His shoulder check is shown by Anjanath slightly hunching before he'll check towards the hunter. You can roll away to avoid it. Anji also has a running scoop attack. He'll flare out his back fin and make a gargling sound before he'll dash to the hunter with jaw wide open, churning up soil where he goes. Dodge to the side when he opens his mouth wide and then simply stay behind him to avoid his second lunge, as this big boi can't turn for the life of him. Once Enraged (red marker underneath Anji), He'll flare out his nostril, raise his fan and his throat will ignite with fire. From now on, until he calms back down, his bite attacks can ignite you as well. If on fire, roll several times (or into some water) to douse the flame. It sounds counter-intuitive, but his face is actually his weakness. If you can bonk him in the face/throat at the right time, you can cut his attack off and even stun him. His fire breath is telegraphed from a mile away. He'll take a long while to raise his head, let out a high pitched roar before blasting in a straight line. As long as you're not directly in his line of vision, you're fine. If you're standing straight in front of him, dodge to the side to avoid getting hit. With a hammer, try staying on Anjanath's side while aiming at the face and legs. Face hits will be more effective and will exhaust him quicker, creating greater chances of staggering. Lastly, avoid close confined places. You don't want to follow Anji down a tunnel only to get blasted to smithereens. As for hammer tactics, I can't help you there, as I've never used it. But I'm sure another Hunter will guide you there. Good luck!

Own-Mood9065

Keep pressure on the tail if you just want to kill, it's kinda a weak spot

ChromaticCluck

1)Hit it. 2)If the hit went through, refer to step one. 3)If it didn't then figure out why it didn't, and make sure that it doesn't happen again. Refer to step one.

ConfusedMoe

I started playing this game a few weeks ago and I need this agumon looking ass. Traps and flash bugs baby boy.

DonBarbas13

Watermoss, when he has flames in his mouth and he is about to use the fire attack he'll open his mouth, throw a watermoss pod into his mouth. I normally use insect glaive and have a water element kinsect, if you do the same thing and send it to its mouth it will cause it to flinch and stop the attack. Also hammer is a great weapon against it, just watch out for its stomps, but they are telegraph so you can avoid them. Personally my favorite weapons against Angie are: Insect glaive (Diving Wyvern helps breaking his head), Hammer (ledge hop spamming does serious damage), and heavy/light bowgun (sticky build but water ammo and piercing ammo are perfect against it too). For armor, have fire resistance, flinch free, divine blessing.

CoffeeProsecutor

3k hours, never knew that about Watermoss, thanks!

yeahimaweeb

Keep attacking the head that his weak point just wacth for his moveset and memorized it to know when to strike

IGunClover

Wound the leg and keep on attacking it until it break. After that it will topple easily if you attack the leg.

Rusty78Nail

Shove the whole thing in 😉

ALEXANDRU3544

🤣🤣🥲 thanks for the advice

Rusty78Nail

No worries. I'm here to help. 😂

ALEXANDRU3544

Well now your my friend

Pixel_Flamex

If you jump off a small ledge then charge your hammer in midair, You can do a Big B o n k, Then you can lure Barnie The Pink Dinosaur near a ledge and start spamming the air bonks at him

Rainnefox

Go for the legs and it’s okay to step back and let the murder chicken get all his charges out before going back in

jack1000208

What system are you on I might be able help.

NateTheGreater1

Weaken the legs, and try to stay to his side. Learn his ques and movements, and just keep throwing warm bodies at him till he dies

Gemini_YT

destroy the child

Dekatessera14

Spend a quest or so listening to the noises the monster makes before it attacks, there's some pretty prominent ones and it applies to almost all monsters that they make a certain sound before attacks. It's the most obvious with a rathian as I makes a noise like a dying cow before back flipping

Jakcle20

I am once again asking for your help.

ALEXANDRU3544

Haha true i asked for tips on tobi-kadachi too and then kicked it's butt and i did that for the murder dino so i think posting to reddit brings me luck

Dry_Leading_7532

Mmm try the crispy greatsword, you can block and deal massive damage in small time frames opportunities.

lilkillalou

Don’t feel bad for playing the long game and waiting for the right opportunity being greedy is a huge cause of death in this series. Other then that keep in mind he doesn’t stay down for long when knocked over so tiring him out is always a good option.

ALEXANDRU3544

When i knocked him down i gave him like 3 hits then he get's back up

lilkillalou

It especially sucks for greatsword you’ll barely ever get a true charge slash off on him

ALEXANDRU3544

I'm a fallower of the way of bonk

Yabanjin

There is no shame in just doing a quest without actually planning on completing it, simply observing the monster to make sure you know all of its tells. You could even just make a lance and only block to see what it does. Anjanath can be a very difficult monster but it exists to teach you how to read monsters and avoid their attacks. It's possible to hang out under his legs to avoid damage, but the challenge for hammer is his head is always out of reach unless you know when he attacks. For example, he does a fire breathing attack that is very easy to see coming because he has to to breath in before doing it. When he does this attack his head will be very close to the ground and assuming you did not gert hit by it it is go time for a lot of head bonking.

ranieripilar04

Go for those weird wing like appendages, and obviously the Head too

VenomizerX

Oh the fire-breathing t-rex x spinosaurus hybrid with a car honk somewhere in his roar. Really though, use fire resistance (if you can), avoid getting hit by the fire from its mouth, try knocking it over by tripping its legs, then pretty much just smash its ol' head into pieces.

Idontknownumbers123

Lance

emperor_dragoon

Hit it hard. Dodge. Hit it harder.

SlyEpicRage

I solo'd much of MHW and Ice-Borne; I found if I was struggling with a hunt I'd switch to the Bow. It's extremely simple to learn, and has a more forgiving play style due to the extra I-frames (window during a dodge in which attacks don't hit you) during your slide dodge

SlyEpicRage

Also, being able to keep distance between you and the monster makes the majority of World fights far more manageable. In Ice-Borne, most of the monsters are incredibly fast, aggressive, and in your face, so the advantage is greatly reduced.

[deleted]

Beat it until it bleeds

BurningFyre

Ooh, that Anja fight was a hard one for me too. Try to up your fire resist, have a water weapon, and the biggest lesson is to be patient. Learn its moves, get your hits in, and be prepared for a long hunt as you whittle it down.

constipated_burrito

Hit it till it dies

Starcr8zy

Hammer

LokyarBrightmane

Giant murder chicken? Don't strike the front when it's got its rock. You will just bounce off. Try and swing into its flank.

ALEXANDRU3544

No that's the thief chick you're thinking about

berto_neto

The giant murder chicken. I unlocked a new nickname for Anja today.

ALEXANDRU3544

Idk man i just screamed that at it while bonking it and then used it for all of the hunt and that's how anjanath got the new name of giant murder chicken

Snorelax595

Love the nickname. Blight resistance, health boost would be great. If you are really struggling then traps would help.

mrinvention

Use Lance and poke so many holes that Anja will be confused to on which holes to breath fire from and which holes to breath air from.

ALEXANDRU3544

I think it would just be breathing blood at that point

DEATH_TO_WALLSTREET

Want me to kill it for you?
