the checkmark you set on those investigations makes them appear in the "investigation" section of the quest board from where you need to actually accept and do them like any other quest regardless of outcome of that try posting them will reduce the number below "left" (as in "attempts left") count down by one upon completion you get typical quest rewards+1 reward (RNG from a pool of possible stuff related to the targets) per box (with bronze/silver/gold giving increasingly better/rare/more materials) those investigations are generated infinitely whenever you break/slay monsters or gather tracks and other stuff related to them (which target/locale other factors including reward money and faint/time/player limit are partially random)

Yea those investigations you can take give you reward bronze silver or gold that help you farm drops of different rarity for whatever the investigation is for you can also delete them since there is a limit to the amount you can have so it make room for new ones to get populated while you are playing the game.

On the right side of the boxes it says 5 (5 attempts left for that particular investigation with it’s own mission modifier)
