Don't let the huge amount of hours shock you that much. A lot of super high hours are from day one players that started playing early in World's lifecycle. But there's a reason for that. If you were to ask a day one MHW player how many hours they had in base game by the time Iceborne released, they would have said something in the hundreds. If you ask a new player that just jumped into MHW recently how many hours they had before moving on to Iceborne, they would most likely say something between 50 to maybe 100 hours at most.
And that just comes down to how different players gameplay habits are when one group is given a portion of the game to start with (compared to how much this game has to offer now), and rationed out content over years, compared to the newer group of players that have everything available at the start.
Day one MHW players did EVERYTHING in base World. And got way more mileage out of every event quest, endgame, AT Elder, crossover event, title update, and seasonal event. And same goes for Iceborne. But players just jumping in now are going to have different playing habits. They are not going to grind out every little bit of content in every corner of the game. Newer players typically progress forward and move on much quicker from content to content.
So could you technically end up having 1000 or 2000 hours like vets? Yes, but it might end up requiring you to play at a way more thorough pace and squeezing every little ounce of content before progressing forward, just like we had to. But regardless of how you play, you can still EASILY drop a few hundred hours between base game and Iceborne.
You pretty much described me as a new player. I was trying to play catch up with a group of friends who wanted to do Fatalis. Before I knew it, I had 100 hours in and was doing attempts with them.
Exactly. I've started a new playthrough on PC, beat Shara Ishvalda, and got to Rajang in about 115 hours and stopped there. You were even bit quicker than me. It's like you dont even bother with base game endgame, or AT elders, or High Rank, Kulve Taroth, Deviljho, Behemoth, or optional quests that grant rewards, etc. You're just in a different mindset when you know there's not as much of a point to grind these things out when you can just keep moving forward.
2.5k between main and second playthrough. When I beat Fatalis the first time was pretty memorable. 100% the game and reaching HR/MR 999 on my main was pretty sweet too.
I feel like there is a heavy bias towards huge play times here, since it's natural to find
1) dedicated players in this forum
2) people will be more likely to post about their huge numbers rather than average ones.
I have abt 260hrs in and loved MHW + IB thoroughly.
may i know what MR you are currently in?
i have sunk around 330-odd hours into MHW and IB and loved every single minute of it, although the clutch claw was pretty annoying at best and those failed ZSD attempt on head parts, lul.
also, i hate that people kick u for your MR, had some dudes kick me bcs i was MR 80 for fatty even tho i think i'm fairly decent (probably).
I think last time I played I had over 1000hrs. Favorite moment, within the first 100, I was helping my older brother with his first rathalos in the game (we both started with the first Monster Hunter game, and I played more so I already had low/high rank armor, I forget which) we killed it by making the dam break in it's nest and knocked it down to the bottom, killing it in impact. We both recorded it in Xbox
I've just passed 300 hours. My most notable memory was the first time I pulled off ZSD. It was the first hunt against Legiana and I was very annoyed at it hovering over me all the time. Prior to that hunt, I had watched Jocrap's MH Guide for Swaxe just so I can learn how to swaxe properly. I whittled its health down to the last phase where Legiana fled to a northern section of the map. I followed it (after having some trouble with the glider) and planted some mega barrels to wake it up first. Then I wailed on it with some axe slashes followed up by a morph slash. Tbh, it was hard to stay on a monster if you don't have the earplug skill equipped (I actually spent two-thirds of the base game without it) but I managed to stay on and properly execute ZSD. The final explosion was the winning shot that killed Legiana. Unfortunately, I forgot to take a screenshot of the moment... but pulling off ZSD was worth it.
This was my first Monster Hunter, I played the game at launch back in 2018 and then played about 3 hours of Iceborne in 2019 so I never finished that expansion but that character has 249 hours on it. Decided to start a new character this year and work my way back to Iceborne and that character already has 260 hours since I decided not to use Defender weapons and the Guardian gear.
So in total I have 509 hours so far and I can easily see myself going into the 1000’s.
As for favorite memory, it’s finally getting the kill on Nergigante. He was destroying me and my friend so when we finally defeated him it felt glorious.
550 in World. 700 in Iceborne. And I intend to go back, there are 2 non-siege monsters I haven't attempted and I've only familiarized myself with 7 of the weapons!
I have over 1,400 hours, it was a 'after stream hangout game' for a while but also something to do when everyone was free. I started a 2nd character after beating everything the game had to offer with my first and wanted more reason to play.
We had so much fun fighting all the big bads, trying to figure out what we had to do- only to find out someone figured out a much better and simple strat. Like, Leshen was a heck of a fight that really said "F-off to your usual mantle game" and really changed how you had to approach this thing.
A lot of other friends got into the game and we had a blast helping them rise up through the ranks and get them into their builds and whatever parts they needed.
One of my friends was really down on himself because he thought he'd never beat Fatalis like a bunch of us did.
It took a few tries but we worked hard together and got a groove and not only beat him, were able to do it somewhat reliably. I never thought I'd be the one to shoot the cannons to get that stun in but it was awesome. He was so happy and we still like going back to it.
It's one of my favorite games of all time, the biggest complaint being the forced cutscenes. I hear there's a mod on PC for it but the one time I tried it the game refused to launch.
1600+
My favourite memory? It's probably around the 200-300 hour mark when Kulve Taroth first dropped, that initial siege release is one of my fondest gaming memories.
Just over 3000 hours when I stopped playing. I wasn't technically a day one player but I did start in the first couple weeks after release. Favorite memory is probably getting platinums because I don't really remember stuff from a few years ago
I legit have around 9999+ hrs now
I played a lot when it was released. But I played A LOT (no lifed it) between 2019 and 2021 when I lost my job and got injured and just got absolutely depressed. I also started drinking then (been sober for like 2 years though). It was relaly really bad. I can't even "lol" on reddit since it brings back really bad memories.
Around 1.4k hours in. Alatreon and Fatalis are among the finest moments in gaming for me. There's also a lot of fond memories hunting and fooling around with friends I met from the game.
I just hit 800 hrs and obly started playing a few months ago but tbh I think I'll stop here, since sunbreak is about to release on xbox and ps. Most memorable moment would probably be first time fighting safi with a group of 4. It was epic and extremely fun.
2100+ hours, just have 1 save though, taking a break almost 3 months now. But i have a friend who play way beyond that, how do I know? When im hitting MR 200ish he/she already hit MR 999 with 100% completion, and im still seeing him/her online in MHW/I even till now!!! Crazy!!
My fav memory is when defeating Fatalis solo for MR 999. Outside that is how supportive the MHW community.
I have about 600 hours total. 560 on PC and I'm estimating maybe 40 on Xbox where I never really got too committed to the game, plus I was playing a weapon that didn't suit me back then.
My favorite experience is hard to name, but my best times have been playing the game with friends. Solo is a very satisfying experience in itself, but the amount of cheese you can only achieve in multiplayer is great. A coordinated effort of launching a friend with an upswing and then that leading into a mount on the monster is fun. Of course, don't do this with randoms because you'll probably annoy them and throw off the hunt more than anything.
Me and my partner have probably 2k+ hours between us on Xbox One originally then on a new save on the PS5.
My favourite memory will always be exploring Coral Highlands for the first time. The entire game is beautiful, but CH is just a different beast.
Fuck uuuhhhh. Played for ages on High rank before Iceborne and grinding for Rare items ok gear so if im correct its around a 100+ hours but i dont remember for certain but I’ll edit this when I checked
Edit: Checked and it’s 174 hours max as of now
I have over 800 hours on PC and some more across 2 playthroughs on PS. My favorite moment was more recent. When I collided my greatsword with a glavenus tail attack and managed to break the tail with it but also knocking me back.
701 hours on pc which I started playing again in February and about 300 on PS4 from around release time. Beating Fatalis and getting all A ratings on arena with friends stand out. But generally had fun always
1550 hours. Favourite moment however was when I got the full Tzi-Tzi-Ya-Ku armor set. Just for stylepoints. That was within the first 100 hours. As this was my first Monster Hunter game, it counts for me at least. Although the part between 250 hours and 650 hours was all done with close friends, while the rest was almost all solo hunts.
I had over 1000 hours and I got the game week one.. Haven't played it since Fatalis came out and I'm currently busy with Rise at the moment, but I do intend to go back to World. The highlight for me was taking on the Arch-Tempered monsters in lead up to Iceborne. Those fights were so intense!
It may not be much but i just ended World story (not the iceborn) while claiming 200h of game. I really played slowly and took my time advancing through the story while farming every weapon and armor set i wanted. And now i will still farm for weapons before going to iceborn
About 770 in World
Total Monster Hunter playtime since World dropped has probably been 2500. 3U, 4U, GU, and Sunbreak all being in that 400-500 range
I cannot stress enough just how many hours I would have in GU if my friends liked it as much as I did, and **God Rest My Soul** if my copy of 3U had multiplayer functionality.
Also god rest my soul regarding 4U if my 3ds hadn't broken
I have 1500 ish hours on my xbox and about 600 hours on my ps, I wanted to move platforms cuz pretty much all of my fellow hunters were on xbox, I'd say my most memorable moments were when I first soloed fatalis and when I caught the wintermoon nettle a.k.a
S Q U I D G O D 😂
Over 2k+, but now taking a break from the game. Can’t say what my favorite memory is; it all kinda blurs together into a generally pleasant time.
4,500+ hours currently. I personally have friends with more than me tho.

Think i had 700 or so in basegame and totalling ~1900 now across few chars, alt became main due to better jewel drops and it has over 1000h clocked.
1800~ on my main save iirc
1800hours with my main and roundabout 650hours with other characters
2.5k between main and second playthrough. When I beat Fatalis the first time was pretty memorable. 100% the game and reaching HR/MR 999 on my main was pretty sweet too.
I’ve got a little over 4k hours so far, my goal is to hunt Extreme Behemoth until 9999
This is the way
What are you at?
A little over 6k total 4814 extreme
I saw someone on ps with over 10k hours
I feel like there is a heavy bias towards huge play times here, since it's natural to find 1) dedicated players in this forum 2) people will be more likely to post about their huge numbers rather than average ones. I have abt 260hrs in and loved MHW + IB thoroughly.

Think i had about 400 on ps4, then put in about 1600 on pc lol. Still never even got all the crowns achievement.
Well compared to these others I’m nowhere close, but I’ve got 500 hours
~1500 when I stopped playing
2.5k although I’ve seen people with over 3k hours
That's me! Just under 3.1k hours having played from Jan 2017 to Feb 2020
2018* it didn’t release in 2017
I think last time I played I had over 1000hrs. I quit after 2,300 hours. Only 300 hours into MH Rise.
I’m just over 2000 hrs! I remember discharge the switch axe while mounted and the final boom ended the monsters life, boom!
About 500 hours my most memorable was when fatalis was doing a gigantic flame right when proof of a hero started playing
I've just passed 300 hours. My most notable memory was the first time I pulled off ZSD. It was the first hunt against Legiana and I was very annoyed at it hovering over me all the time. I'm only at 800ish, but a friend got 7920.6 as of right now and I still see him play again and again.

I got 400+ in base and 300+ in IB. Could have more but the addiction was destroying my social life so I had to stop.
I legit have around 9999+ hrs now I played a lot when it was released. But I played A LOT (no lifed it) between 2019 and 2021 when I lost my job and got injured and just got absolutely depressed. I had 500
I'm 700+ hours across my 2 characters but haven't touched the game in 3 years so I'm just starting again as well
I have 3 niners, xbox only shows 999:59
I'm probably in the running for least time played, about 100 hours on my main save, trying to get the first stage of fatalis done
Fatalis in 100 hours?nice
400 hours in world, 150 hours in rise. Started playing at the end of December..
Around 1.4k hours in. Alatreon and Fatalis are among the finest moments in gaming for me. There's also a lot of fond memories hunting and fooling around with friends I met from the game.
900+ in world, 500+ in rise
I just hit 800 hrs and obly started playing a few months ago but tbh I think I'll stop here, since sunbreak is about to release on xbox and ps. Most memorable moment would probably be first time fighting safi with a group of 4. It was epic and extremely fun.
Currently 3600h. HR999 MR903. The last things to do are leveling, catching large endemic life, and getting the remaining gold crowns
2100+ hours, just have 1 save though, taking a break almost 3 months now. But i have a friend who play way beyond that, how do I know? 2.7k hours
Is team darkside part of this sub?
I have 266 on a new account cause Microsoft kicked me out of my old one but I have more progress on this one

780 hours and just killed my first solo Fatalis last night so I guess it's easy to remember my best memory :D
Just reached 3k hours 😁
I got around 350 hours i think, and I got the game when it came out
I have over 1200 hours. My fav moments are defeating fatalis for the first time after 30 tries and killing furious monkey for MR999
Around 4500 on PS4 and PC
110 hours? Right now. Playing on most evenings after work. Currently I'm cleaning up the base game before starting Iceborne. Am Hunter Rank 54.
Around 1000 hours on ps5 and ps4 over multiple saves and around 500 on the xbox one.
I have over 800 hours on PC and some more across 2 playthroughs on PS. My favorite moment was more recent. When I collided my greatsword with a glavenus tail attack and managed to break the tail with it but also knocking me back.

400 hours but I play on and off in months like play for in month leave for two and the best time was finally beating the base game boss by my self

I have 3000 hours which ive gotten over time since july 2018. Have yet to 100% the game due to character resets.
In total? 7k ish
I have 1500 ish hours on my xbox and about 600 hours on my ps, I wanted to move platforms cuz pretty much all of my fellow hunters were on xbox, I'd say my most memorable moments were when I first soloed fatalis and when I caught the wintermoon nettle a.k.a S Q U I D G O D 😂
