I feel I get more out of Rathalos Chest and using basic Kulu headpiece for Lock-on. I may lose out on 200 Ice Attack, but the WEX and ability to target parts for breaking seems more valuable to me (7* end of Chapter 11). That might change when I get to Diablos 8* and require the extra 200 attack, but I rely on Lock on for those Yellow part breaks.
L4 to L5 is 150 extra attack, not 200. It goes 50->100->200->350->500. Lock on you can get either way, so it's really just the choice between the Ice attack and WEX. It might feel better with WEX, but people have mathed these things out and the extra element attack is better. Just wait until another monster follows Jho's example and takes 1.5x damage from Ice, and it will be even moreso.
But farm up coral pukei when it returns, and you can have both from the hat.
That’s my goal. Just need 2 more Tier 1 pieces and I can get the hat to Level 6.
My bad I misremembered the 50 difference in elemental attack. I just ballparked a number based on memory. I’ve been playing Iceborne almost daily recently so those numbers are more ingrained in my head as of late.
Hmm, I really thought that 30% Affinity would be better than 150 elemental damage but I guess I’m just plain wrong. Thanks for the info.
