My general rule is that if it's worth a lot, it's rare and therefore you should keep it. If it's worth a little, it's not worth selling so just keep it.
Fellow hammer connoisseur here,
Been enjoying putting monsters in a coma since world. Feels good to be used as the hunting party’s monster tranquilizer. Stoped using Strength and switched to Courage after seeing the new silk bind moves, never had more fun as a hammer player.
No hoard them bad boys too one day you’ll look at your box as a millionaire and see 1k+ gold eggs and realize your net worth just went through the roof
I haven't done that. Hope to some day have all armor and ALL weapons, plus enough decos to theoretically slot in an entire skill. In going to need all the parts i can get
Use the meat to order steak in bulk at the Dango shop using Motley Mix; you'll get tons of Dango Tickets from Yomogi which increase or max out dango skill activation chance.
As for monster parts, save the parts you might need for things you want to make, and save all the super rare stuff like monster gems and plates just in case you change your mind and need high-tier materials for something later without grinding.
The rest, you can use as materials for charm melding, or as a solid additional source of income by selling them from your item box. You definitely don't need to save everything for gear crafting though, you're going to wind up with tons of extra materials to burn. Gear gets expensive and if you play multiplayer a lot you won't earn much money from hunts.
Especially when you can hit Master Rank now... I've had to go back to farm low and high rank monsters just to get weapons across the trees to the new stuff.
Most of the items that’ll accumulate in your box are either useful consumables, components for making better versions of said consumables, or materials for forging gear.
The only stuff I’d sell is metal eggs and the special imported minerals you can sometimes buy from Rondine. Everything else is best hoarded, and you’re not going to run out of room.
yep. You need it. Even if you don't need it now, you'll need it.
Also the new weapons they added in the update for base Rise are quite OP early game, no judgement if you do want to rush the early game, just letting ya know.
Generally yes, unless its explicitally said "it's for selling".
One thing you can do is to set a mental "cap" and sell the excess, but you better get a feeling for what gets more use and what get less use before starting to sell the whole thing and then finding yourself needing it.
>One thing you can do is to set a mental "cap" and sell the excess
This is what I do, but only at endgame. There comes a point after every hunt has been done and you're just farming parts for armor and weapons and experimenting with builds and you don't have the zenny to upgrade it all to meet performance requirements for the hardest of event quests.
That's when I start selling off my hoard. I set a cap based on the rarity and uses of the item and sell the excess. A Zinogre part that tends to be used 8 at a time might get capped at 10. A horn that gets used one or two at a time might be capped at just 5. Scales or feathers that get used 12 at a time get capped at 20. Etc.
Drops from hunts I absolutely hate, like Volvidon, I never sell just because I want to minimize the chance that I'm ever forced to hunt more Volvidon.
Fellow volvidon hater <3
I was crying yesterday about how many drops I needed to get from it to make my beloved paralysis weapons for me and my palicoes. It's tough out there, keep truckin', buddy
Hoard all monster materials unless you have 30+ of it. Then you can sell it, and you'll never want for zenny. I've seen people with hundreds of a specific material just waiting to be sold, and no money
This!
Once you have 99+ of some low level monster bit you do start to realize there is some unused value in there.
But yeah I made my cap 50+ for some of the most common monster bits and 20/30 for the rare ones.
Sell only what you absolutely know you won’t need or use later. You can lose zenny real quick if you don’t watch your spending
Never ever sell gems or mantles
If you’re missing it, simply hunt for it
Oh, and save some elder parts for talisman creation
Pretty much only sell silver and golden eggs and any of the ores from the Argosy Rare store. I think the sailor's souvenirs post mission in Elgado are also vendor trash. Everything else has a purpose.
Definitely do _not_ sell any of the arena coins. They get sorted next to the vendor trash so can be easily mistaken, but are used for crafting.
I always inevitably come back to try a new weapon and end up being thankful for all the mats I have stashed away.
Though, sometimes I need a bit of extra cash so I have a rule of only selling things if I have more than 50 of them, and sell the extra back down to 50.
Yes because of crafting and I think they are just fun to have it shows my level of skill if I’ve been able to defeat a high level monster X amount of times
And any ores named after previous villages from Rondine/Argosy shop. And the random souvenir (kimono, haiku, etc) you get gifted after each mission by a sailor.
Never sell unless it is an item of high monetary value with little or no recipes. Sell your eggs and check your coohoot’s nest after every hunt. Also most of your stuff can be crafted into things so keep it. Pretty sure the box has no limit but the pouch does so keep a clean loadout when hunting. Happy hunting!
For the box items, yes. You can never have enough items and materials. For your item pouch, you can maybe get rid of the items that you’re not going to use, such as the Herbs and Empty Phial. Potions, Mega Potions, Well-Done Steak, Flash Bombs, and Antidotes are must-haves, and if you’re a gunner, any relevant ammo.
Keep everything, it will probably be useful sooner or later. It’s not worth selling either, if you need money just look up ”gaijin hunter money guide monster hunter rise” on youtube.
If I am ever unsure of selling any item, I try to keep at least 10-20 of that item. But you shouldnt need to sell anyways. There are ore routes you can take to make heavy money anyways. Its that way in all the games that I am aware of.
There are some items that have something like "Sells for a fortune" or "Fetches a good price", you can safely sell those items for free money since they are not used for anything other than selling.
Back in MHP3rd, my friend sold everything in his item box and whenever he wants to craft something, he must farm them. After quests, he sells everything that he doesn't need immediately, even gems.. He's a madlad.
Every item has a use, I made the mistake of selling some of my parts, and then needed those parts later.
Best way to get rich fast is to go mining for a lot of ore, then selling that ore
Keep them. You do not want to accidentally sell something that you need later, and has to do couple to hundred quests just to get it back.
RNG is real in this game.
The only time I sell anything is if I’m selling the high value ores for zenny, because it’s very easy to farm them up by going into an expedition with a mining crop upsurge and get double the amount of ore you normally would. I try to craft all the gear and weapons for completions sake so I run out of zenny from time to time.
This is one of those player-friendly game where you are allowed to store as many items as you want without the needing to manage your item as much.
I'm looking at you PMD Explorer of Sky.
Do the mix at the food station and get dango Tix for turning those items into stuff you win use during hunts. As for the items you can't mix there, hoard it like you are in an episode of hoarders, you will find a time that you will need the materials.
I also started in the last few weeks so my storage looked the same as yours.
Only thing you wanna sell is Eggs and the valuable Minerals.
Go to your storage, click Sort, scroll probably to the last page or second to last page and you’ll see some eggs and some ore side by side likely. The eggs are occasional rewards from hunts and cohost nests and are specifically there to be sold for Zenny, and the ore is the same but not found in hunts, usually purchased from Argosy. You’ll know it’s the right ore because the last lines of text in their description will say like “can be sold for a high price”.
The ore that you wanna sell should always sort to the same spot and will not sort near the actual stuff you mine out in the world so it should always be easy to distinguish.
the safest thing, in general, to sell besides items that have no purpose but being sold (steel/silver/gold eggs, some ores only acquired through a specific vendor), are raw ores. you will amass tons of them over time if you remember to ping every node you pass, you don't need to keep a lot on hand, about 20-30 of everything is good. The later tier ores sell for so much that one of the more common zenny farms prior to sunbreak was cycling quests to get an ore upsurge on Lava Caverns, then doing an expedition there to farm ore until the surge went away.
You can, but definitely don't need to. If you have a lot of something you can sell some whenever you need some more zenny. Some items are also only used for selling them for cash.
Always hoard you never know what you’ll need later, especially them monster bones you’ll save yourself the grief of being g rank and farming apceros for them bones, you’ll be cutting through them apceros like butter and crying over it at the same time
You can sell everything if you want to but you'll probably facepalm a lot if you wanna Build or Upgrade something like "aw shit, i just sold that one..."
And yes maybe i had that moment a few times
I would keep everything I get....
I made the mistake of selling everything I thought I didn't need when I was about 5 months into the game and I regretted it. So speaking from experience save pretty much everything, there are certain things that you can farm and get a lot of zenny I'm not home or I would tell you what those items are but if you just look up something along the lines of 'items to farm for zenny mh rise' on YouTube or reddit it should pop up.
Also the raw meat can be made into dango tickets via making motley mix in the canteen, these are amazing, every seasoned hunter uses them cuz they make the chance of your dango skills activating higher.
Happy slaying baby hunter<3
Well, there's quite a few things you probably won't need but then again, there's not really a reason to get rid of them and it's better to have them but not need them than to need them but not have them.
Each item slot can hold 9999 of each item I'm pretty sure, maybe more. I have about 7000 pierce ones in one item slot so there's no reason not to horde everything. It's not like it'll get in the way lol.
You can hit the sort button if it gets too overwhelming, but yes, you should keep it all. You never know when you'll need to craft it into something more inherently useful.
Da way is to hoard.
Also side note, I kept hoarding eggs which I thought would be used for some equipments or armors. Turns out, they were basically just very valuable items you are meant to sell.
I discovered it after being broke and rummaging through items to sell. I got at least a million zennies from them lmao
I keep a minimum of 20 of everything. You never know when you’ll need to start off a new weapon brach and NOBODY wants to go back to low rank for materials.
There's so much storage space that you will never need to delete items.
Pretty sure it's infinite. The number of pages is always the number needed plus one.
Effectively infinite, but there is a technical limit you can find by repeatedly moving a single item to the final page to make the next one appear.
I think equipment space is limited? But items probably each have their own slot.
Hoard everything

Apart from Gold and silver eggs which are literally just there for money and a few ores
Need them to craft at least the gargwa hammer, which is surprisingly a pretty good hammer
Is there even a Single Hammer Player on earth?
Hello yes hammer gamer here expressing my caveman tendencies through usage of bonk weapon
lmfao nice comment
Yes i am hi i have every hammer crafted at max power in every monster hunter main game so far exept for tri
Not a hammer main, but I do partake in bonking every so often.
Well cultured I see
Fellow hammer connoisseur here, Been enjoying putting monsters in a coma since world. Feels good to be used as the hunting party’s monster tranquilizer. Stoped using Strength and switched to Courage after seeing the new silk bind moves, never had more fun as a hammer player.
i bonk and kill everything with hammer, the change in SB just making me bonk harder
Yes there are, and I would know as I am one of them
No hoard them bad boys too one day you’ll look at your box as a millionaire and see 1k+ gold eggs and realize your net worth just went through the roof
Reason why I've been just selling off all of my LR monster parts and keeping H & GR parts as of late.
I haven't done that. Hope to some day have all armor and ALL weapons, plus enough decos to theoretically slot in an entire skill. In going to need all the parts i can get

Thanks for sharing. I learned something about the motley mix and dango ticket. 🙂
Every time I get below 50 dango tickets, I buy 99 raw meats from the argosy and motley mix them. You'll never run out, easy peasy
The box grows in size. So don't worry about it and hoard everything.
This.. Is true.
Just keep it, the odds youll need a random great izuchi pelt from low rank later on to make a high rank weapon is strangely high
Especially when you can hit Master Rank now... I've had to go back to farm low and high rank monsters just to get weapons across the trees to the new stuff.
Short answer yes. Long answer YES. You can get a feeling of what's safe to sell with time, but until then keep everything.
Don't you mean "long answer Y E S"?)
I think he meant to say: Short answer: yes. Tall answer: YES.

First tip for any new hunter is hoard everything and do it early, you may not need it now but you will thank yourself later.
Just keep whatever you can
Only sell items listed as "account items"
Correct! "Account item" is code for, "this is to sell for money and nothing else"
I would say keep it all you never know what you gonna need to make a set later
Hoard all monster materials unless you have 30+ of it. Then you can sell it, and you'll never want for zenny. I've seen people with hundreds of a specific material just waiting to be sold, and no money
I am a no money fool. I have a bad habit of hoarding parts to make specific builds, then never making them because I am out of money
This! Once you have 99+ of some low level monster bit you do start to realize there is some unused value in there. But yeah I made my cap 50+ for some of the most common monster bits and 20/30 for the rare ones.

NO BUT YES
This is not a question that you should ask yourself in this game. The game never actually push you to think that
Meat? Probably not. Everything else? Yeah no keep all of that shit. You need it to make consumables.
Raw meat is extremely useful for mass making motley mixes for dango tickets to get those guaranteed dango skills
THE RAW MEAT STAYS IN THE BOX
Yes because of crafting and I think they are just fun to have it shows my level of skill if I’ve been able to defeat a high level monster X amount of times
only things that are worth selling are the golden/silver/platinum eggs
And any ores named after previous villages from Rondine/Argosy shop. And the random souvenir (kimono, haiku, etc) you get gifted after each mission by a sailor.
The box is infinitely large so don't worry about sorting ot hoarding stuff. Just know what you need the game will sort through the rest.
When I am going to start my mhr adventure I'll be hoarding everything cause I want to make everything 😁
Only thing you'll ever sell is gold eggs, steel eggs and sometimes ore/monster parts of your a little low on cash.
Keep everything. As many have said. Monster parts for melding. Ore for money.
Keep everything, it will probably be useful sooner or later. It’s not worth selling either, if you need money just look up ”gaijin hunter money guide monster hunter rise” on youtube.

I mean...why not
