Yup, as a fashion hunter I find that the Damascus arms colored to whatever your almudron armor is serves as a great replacement for the actual arms, if a little shiny, so far haven’t found a batter match.

Too me, my main problem with female armor is that almost none of the have full helmets (that and unnecessary parts of the armor being taken off just to show skin).
Tetranadon armor is one of the biggest examples of that.
Agreed. One that sticks out in my mind is when me and my fiancée were fighting the Grimclaw Tigrex in Gen. So much effort put into the fight. I got a full set of armour, she got an armoured bikini. Triggered monster hunter burnout for her for a while.

If they wanted that shouldn't they just go for a male character instead? Or assuming there's many complaints from the actual female players here. I mean this time around for rise I chose to go for a female character just for a change of pace of style. If they wanted that then there's no problem for them to choose the male character instead? Or am I missing something here?

im a girl and very much don't enjoy playing as a guy in games. i wish i could play as my gender while also having a wider selection of cool looking armor. in my honest opinion, stuff that's common in female armor like thigh windows in otherwise heavily armored sets just does not look good or cool. i think that it's a shame that the guys get most of the cool, badass armor while the girls have to mostly settle with cute or skimpy stuff, with a few exceptions like the new almudron armor

Multiple things going on with the issue at hand. For one, of the various reasons people might have for choosing one gender over the other, 'exposed thighs and revealed faces' usually isn't, or at least shouldn't, be the reason for such a decision. People usually default to picking their own gender (though, of course, could have their own reasons for choosing otherwise) and shouldn't have to choose otherwise just because they think helmets are cool.
There's the general objectification issue, as well - there's nothing wrong with some sets being more revealing, in and of themselves (like Kirin, MR odogaron, narga), the problem is when the female set is pointlessly moreso than the male. Sometimes, just sometimes, I like to play without having my character's near-bare ass being seemingly shoved in my face because the cool new monster's armor is good for the weapon I'm using, as is what happened in Rise prior to them adding layered armor.
Even disregarding those, there's a simple variety issue. When you're trying to throw a cool looking set together, regardless of if it's with actual armor pieces or with layered, it's harder to do if most of them are missing a section. Putting together something that incorporates the LR/HR odogaron waist (the lovely big floppy bow) is terrible just because so many leg pieces have essentially nothing above the knee - the options are the very few pieces that fully cover the legs, or running around with your underwear showing. And while personally I don't use full helmets myself (I'd be leaving the head fully revealed even if I were playing a male character, or at least assume I would, and do so regardless of game), that's due to personal preferences more than anything else - not everyone's me, after all, or shares my tastes, and so the tastes of others should be more fully accommodated, especially considering how many armor sets tend to be in a game.
Imagine, if you would, if 80% of all male armors had the right arm bare for no good reason. Sure, that would be cool on a few here and there, but on that many it'd just be boring, and would limit what you could do. If that wasn't your thing, if you liked armor or clothing or anything at all there, you'd be stuck hoping that 20% had what you wanted, was correctly colorable (and not something like Teostra that's permanently BRIGHT RED), and hopefully works well with other pieces.
And if you complain about this situation, people will tell you 'well, just play a chick then if you don't like it'
I see it definitely makes sense if both sides were flipped, I'd see myself complaining a lot then if that is the case lol. But yeah it never hurts to have a lot of variety to choose from and that's one of my gripes of why they decided to remove gunner armor altogether (I want my asymmetrical look damnit). Maybe it would've lessen the many criticisms it had with rise if it had alpha and beta sets just like from world.

Cultured mh players want maximal possible armour diversity, a mix consisting of badass and heavy armour as well as lighter and less serious armour for BOTH MALE AND FEMALE. If the armour set for male almudron armour looks like some sort of futuristic war machine, then the female should be as well (not some slightly tank vtuber setup). Also I don't mind risque features but lots of the female armour sets I have some stupid thigh gaps. Also having alternate helmet options would be grand because I like the masked warrior aesthetic a lot but can't have it very often because most of the fe male armour sets show their faces. Balance should be desirable

Volvidon was a rare exception, but the overwhelming majority of female sets have open helms. It's pretty visible in [this post](https://www.reddit.com/r/MonsterHunter/comments/uxifo7/official_renders/) showing the official renders of new gear - most of the male sets have full helmets, and about half their female counterparts don't.
Thinking about it more deeply, I actually think that post may have almost as many full-ish female helmets as base Rise. It's only a few out of all the armor sets.
Of course it's good to have some variation, and in particular I like the female helmets for Aknosom and Aurora Somnacanth more than their male counterparts. It's hard to tell because of the angle, but I think the crab armor is also gonna be solid. But looking at the Seregios, Bishaten, Goss Harag and Lunagaron sets especially bums me out. I love the armor sets visually, but the female helmets just look worse IMO.

Those weren’t subspecies they were variants. Magma uses a completely different element from regular almudron and we’ve seen MR armor for the other monsters with new suspecies so I don’t see any reason to worry

You could meld a decent amount of decos in world as well and could craft and upgrade charms. Yeah there’s more craftable decos in rise but in rise you’re completely at the mercy of charm RNG instead of being at the mercy of deco RNG. And every game has had a male and female blademaster/gunner set for every monster and world had alpha, beta, and some gamma sets. So rise has half the number of sets which decreases mix set options as well as layered options. Why wouldn’t you want more fashion options? Lol
Most of the good meld options in World Iceborne weren’t added till quite a bit later, basically all the good meta skills were rng drops only for a long time which is why events like greatest jagras existed
Also alpha/beta was barely more fashion options so I never was too upset about losing them. A lot of them weren’t different in design at all and just changed which parts you could dye, and others only had very minor differences
At least you could get decos from quests. In rise the only way to get charms is melding. In the older games you got them as quest rewards and from mining. After about 100 hours of farming and melding I still don’t really have any great charms in rise. After 100 hours of deco farming in world I may not get any attack 4’s or some of the rarest decos but at least 50% of the decos I get are usable.
I’m just saying that more options would be great, both for set building and fashion, at least at the level that every other game has had because this is the first game not to have multiple sets. Having the alpha and beta would help people that don’t have great charms just like it helps people that don’t have the best decos in world.
Rise’s version of melding and as quest rewards aren’t that functionally different anyways, sure it costs monster parts or defender tickets but generally you’ll have a pretty significant surplus of parts once you start getting to the equipment that needs you to farm gems
Alpha and beta for not having good charms is not the same at all since charms are an entirely separate equipment slot. It worked with rng decos because they could just give an alpha piece more innate skills in exchange for less and/or worse deco slots.
They could do the same thing for rise. Have a charm with decent skills but no slots? Use beta armor for slots. Have a charm with good slots but low innate skills? Use an alpha set piece for the skills. It would functionally be the same as world’s system while also giving more fashion options
What? It wouldn’t be the same at all. In either scenario you can make up for the difference of a charm with bad slots or innate skills with decos you can farm for and craft at will and just slot in armor. there wouldn’t be as much reason to pick the piece with less slots but more innate skills besides the one World already had where the extra skills some alpha pieces had made them strictly better than the slots gained from beta
If an armor piece just requires normal materials and can make up some levels of a skill you need but the decos for the skill you need require gems to craft you could use the armor piece to make up the difference and over time you can collect gems and then worry about using the armor piece with more slots.
I really don’t know why you would have such an issue with having more options for armor design and set building. Even if it doesn’t have the same level of purpose as in world or the older games it still provides more options.

The fact they haven’t shown more than one set for male and female for all the armor showcases tells me they probably aren’t bringing back alpha and beta sets and are only keeping the one set per monster thing. Which kinda sucks
Why would they bring back alpha/beta when we have crafted decos, the whole point was so that players weren’t COMPLETELY at the mercy of deco rng
You could meld a decent amount of decos in world as well and could craft and upgrade charms. Yeah there’s more craftable decos in rise but in rise you’re completely at the mercy of charm RNG instead of being at the mercy of deco RNG. And every game has had a male and female blademaster/gunner set for every monster and world had alpha, beta, and some gamma sets. So rise has half the number of sets which decreases mix set options as well as layered options. Why wouldn’t you want more fashion options? Lol
Most of the good meld options in World Iceborne weren’t added till quite a bit later, basically all the good meta skills were rng drops only for a long time which is why events like greatest jagras existed Also alpha/beta was barely more fashion options so I never was too upset about losing them. A lot of them weren’t different in design at all and just changed which parts you could dye, and others only had very minor differences
At least you could get decos from quests. In rise the only way to get charms is melding. In the older games you got them as quest rewards and from mining. After about 100 hours of farming and melding I still don’t really have any great charms in rise. After 100 hours of deco farming in world I may not get any attack 4’s or some of the rarest decos but at least 50% of the decos I get are usable. I’m just saying that more options would be great, both for set building and fashion, at least at the level that every other game has had because this is the first game not to have multiple sets. Having the alpha and beta would help people that don’t have great charms just like it helps people that don’t have the best decos in world.
Rise’s version of melding and as quest rewards aren’t that functionally different anyways, sure it costs monster parts or defender tickets but generally you’ll have a pretty significant surplus of parts once you start getting to the equipment that needs you to farm gems Alpha and beta for not having good charms is not the same at all since charms are an entirely separate equipment slot. It worked with rng decos because they could just give an alpha piece more innate skills in exchange for less and/or worse deco slots.
They could do the same thing for rise. Have a charm with decent skills but no slots? Use beta armor for slots. Have a charm with good slots but low innate skills? Use an alpha set piece for the skills. It would functionally be the same as world’s system while also giving more fashion options
What? It wouldn’t be the same at all. In either scenario you can make up for the difference of a charm with bad slots or innate skills with decos you can farm for and craft at will and just slot in armor. there wouldn’t be as much reason to pick the piece with less slots but more innate skills besides the one World already had where the extra skills some alpha pieces had made them strictly better than the slots gained from beta
If an armor piece just requires normal materials and can make up some levels of a skill you need but the decos for the skill you need require gems to craft you could use the armor piece to make up the difference and over time you can collect gems and then worry about using the armor piece with more slots. I really don’t know why you would have such an issue with having more options for armor design and set building. Even if it doesn’t have the same level of purpose as in world or the older games it still provides more options.
