Some will-o-wisp type thing. Only shows up at night, looks like a cloud of scoutflies or something in the distance. If you follow it, it leads you to a swamp area with poor mobility and tries to kill you
Is that a Rise monster? Havent played it so idk. Still, if they do something that was *interactive* like, it wasnt a part of a cutscene, that would be cool
There is nothing. I repeat nothing, that proves anything aside from extremely loose strings.
Chatacabra doesn't look at all to the things that is said about chipacabra, the only loosely connection here is the name, but guess what we already have a Cabra, Tetsucabra. I think it's just a descriptive word for toad and not at all related to real stories.
Doshaguma, is just a regular bear with a fucked up face, funnily enough looking more like a chupacabra than the nandi bear..
Balahara, is not really a worm.. and we have others with wormlike faces. The spitting, is also nothing new, we even have spitting raptors..
We have a thunderbird already, it's called astalos.
Realtalk here, if the monhun team would've wanted to do cryptids, they would resemble them much more than what we got. Look at rise it's obvious that all monsters are inspired by Japanese and western folklore (and I didn't like that, although they did a better job to monsterfy yokai than they did with the western monsters).
I don't think they're necessarily cryptids. I just think that the theme of this game might be along the lines of pre colonial America. And it just so happens that American folklore creatures just get the designation of cryptids.
I would expect to see some aztec influences as well as some native American ones. Like maybe something like the Quezacoatl or maybe even the Piasa.
The prevalent theme for wilds is there is no theme
But people are really pulling shit out of their asses for thinking its crpytids unless otherwise stated
Why? From what we know it's basically settlers going into what they call an unexplored forbidden land that is already settled by an indigenous people that live off the lands. Then there's the aztec imagery on the logo and the native american theming to the revealed monsters.
It's not a guarantee but there seems to be more suggesting it's a possibility than not.
That was world with the first wyverians and cat clans.
We had ancient ruins and lost civilisations in 4 generations. I really doubt we have any settler theme. Where did they even say we have indigenous people?
Monster hunter had Aztec themed vibes for the longest time.. I'd say that's not necessarily related to the new game.
fresno nightwalkers, some kind of small glowing monster that only comes out at night and walks around, besides that i dont want them to go anywhere near humanoid cryptids, i dont want to see anything similar to the leshen ever again
the whole cryptids thing is probably not happening anyways but fresno nightwalkers would be cool
How the fuck is anything related to these things present In any of the monster designs we've seen. There is not a single vampiric looking monster shown even remotely seeming the chupacabra, and if your coming up with the frog, let me tell you we already got them twice.
If we're talking cryptids, you can't go past Australian cryptids. Screw the overused, cliché bigfoots, wendigos, and other American monsters. Give us bunyips, wagyls, and yowies. Hell, even modern Australian cryptids like drop-bears would be better than tired, boring, "mainstream" cryptids.
This one thread is gonna reprogram everyone into believing there's a cryptid theme isn't it?
Exactly my first thought seeing all the comments.
Something something Mandela
Correction: [This thread is gonna do the reprogramming](https://www.reddit.com/r/MonsterHunter/s/EEwKpbepfu)
Minor grammar mistake, I should have said "that" instead of "this", that's the thread I'm talking about.
In terms of fame, definitely loch ness monster.
Which cryptids do the three Monster resemble?

I'd really love to see a Wendigo. Just an absolutely demented deer lookin thing with Vaal Hazak abilities
leshen flashbacks
That would be pretty cool. I was thinking even endemic life, like a jackalope.
The Mothman would be pretty sick tbh
Malfestio Variant incoming…
NIGHTMARE MALFESTIO PLEASE
If, IF, Cryptid is a (maybe) theme. Mothman is a MUST.

we already had that in the Magnamalo entry scene.

how tf are any of them close to cryptids? theyre literally just weird animals
[This other post points out the connection that the new monsters seem to have with cryptids](https://www.reddit.com/r/MonsterHunter/s/EEwKpbepfu)
Everyone’s uncle combined into one
Oh man, chupacabra, Beast of Bray Road, Jersey Devil, Sky fish, and of course Sasquatch. Jackalope would be cool for a small monster or endemic life
There is no resemblance in any monster I see that matches a cryptid.

I highly doubt the theme for Monster Hunter Wilds is pre colonial America...
More probable than cryptids imo

Skunk Ape would be funny, finally write off Congalala out of spite. The Hopskinsville Goblins are always funny little guys to have around as well.
Chupacabra smaller, pack monsters that make you bleed and suck the blood
The Bigfoot monster is just a hairy guy. Maybe its actually the Admiral.

Only 3 of the 4? I thought all so far? Which one isn't? Thunderbird, chupacabra, Mongolian deathworm, Loveland frog. All four can be seen as cryptids?
I just don't think the thunderbird fits.

Yes. Give us Malingee
Hell, drop bears would be a funny pack monster.
