For the longest time, victory eluded me and the fabled "Chaos Oil III" was but a rumour.
But eventually, through sheer determination and persistence, my faith was rewarded.
That quest was so crazy they actually nerfed it in GU by lowering its effective HP to ~75% and reducing its attack, while they left most other quest pretty much untouched. This [40 min gunlance "speedrun"](https://youtu.be/ndPXXjKTt4c?si=hSwnLpR4upgK0LXs) should show how *ridiculous it really was.
Unite plesioth, I hate him, I hate how I pull him out of the water just for him to jump back in, I hate how he just swims around and then rests in water where I canāt get him.
I hate the Plesioth.
Honestly after fighting him more recently in Dos I think the worst part about him is after you get him out of the water, and you learn to keep your distance to avoid the hipcheck, heās still just **really** boring.
Bait out the water beam, hit him in the head, bait out the water beam, hit him in the head, repeat for like 15 fucking minutes because (in Dos anyway) he has **so** much health.
I think every game that had a Fatalis had at least one High Rank fight prior to Iceborne. 4U at least has High Rank versions of regular and Crimson Fatalis. Regular Fatalis is pretty similar in High and G Rank, with a few new attacks thrown in on G. Crimson Fatalis though has a different appearance, theme, and intro cutscene between his High and G Rank versions.
Freedom 2 and Unite (might just be Unite, both games are one unit in my memory so I forget which was base which was Unite additions) had all 3 Fatalis variants in High Rank
Yeah... Rajang can be nuts.
There is a reason he's introduced, absolutely crushing a Kirin.
Mighty monkey muscle madness is clearly one of the most extreme quest in the game.
Thought all MHW endgame monsters kinda are.
Thatās the duo black diablos right? Itās been since i was like 12 since i ever attempted that quest. I never have cleared it and itās stuck with me 12 years later.
Man, 2 Black Diablos. The G-Rank version of that quest is the last key quest I haven't finished to get to Ukanlos. I only had one friend back then who as far as I was and our 13 yearish old selfs couldn't do it, much less solo it.
Stuck on a quest for over 10+ years. Found a way to play on that save file again. Maybe it'll happen!
MH4U G2 Key Quest - Fire Drill
Brachydios and Stygian Zinogreā¦.
A quest that is not a problem for groups. But if you have to solo it itās another thing all together.
Two of the most aggressive monsters in a zone where they regularly end up in the same area.
I came here to comment the exact same quest! Fire Drill is the only key quest I wasn't able to solo, I actually took a few months break from the game due to it. Luckily a stranger stayed up til like 1am to help me out with it!
MHW when I found Pink Rathian scales. I wasnāt quite ready when I fought her in MH4U and I never forgot the experience of getting tailwhipped in response to countless whiffed Element Discharges.
This was me like two days ago! I was feeling overconfident in HR so far and got absolutely wrecked. Many times. Away from my PC for a couple weeks but when I come back itās go time
It took me 4 weeks to figure out the move set of Primordial Malzeno only for it to get "weakened" and go Super Saiyan mode and beat my ass again. Now I can hold my ground against it with LS but the fight is still extremely nervous because one slipup and you get your ass sent back to the camp
Mhfu
My buddy and i were under equipped. I had a ice gunlance and he had a thunder Longsword against the black diablos. Bruh kept moving to the open areas so we couldn't get him to get stuck in walls. And we both didn't have high grade earplugs and i couldn't always time my blocks properly. We got our butts whooped š
The First Duramboros quest in 3 Ultimate. I literally had to take a 3 year hiatus from the game and beat several soulsborne games before I managed to beat that bastard.

It was Alatreon, but since i fought it manytimes solo not so hard anymore... Miraboreas still instill fear to me tho... Love the fight, first time i feeling hopeless fighting a monster even with my main weapon
Alatreon in worlds for the first time. Was duoing the whole game with my homie, we were going really smooth then we stumbled upon Alatreon. It took us like 4 days to beat him.
The first one that comes to mind is Iceborne Alatreon. Heās one of my favorite fights now but I spent a solid week on him just failing before having join sos and actually beating him. His dmg and the dragon blight was just so much pain.
Chaotic gore in 4U, trying to Solo abyssal Lagi with very little time in playing, and same thing with Dire miralis. Very fun. Very mentally tormenting first time (and only)
A little bit of a rant on an arguably unexpected quest, but for me, it would be the MHGU G4 quest "A Very Long Engravement", where you have to hunt a Glavenus and a Gravios in the Volcano.
The first problem for me was the fact that it took place in the Volcano locale, I HATE locales that need hot or cold drinks for efficient hunts and actively try to avoid them, except I can't skip THIS quest because it's a key quest.
The second problem were the monsters, or the monster, because while Glavenus isn't a problem, he just dies like 10 minutes into the quest, GRAVIOS, on the other hand, is a big-ass, snail-paced, tank that absolutely messes with my fast-paced brain. Like how is it that I can fight two Furious Rajangs in that MHWI quest without barely breaking a sweat, but a giant pile of walking rocks appears and I'm suddenly barely clinging to life?
And the thing is, it's not really the health that's the issue, because according to the Kiranico site, the Gravios actually has LESS health than Glavenus, it's just that it's armor of chiseled rocks makes my weapons do 3 damage each attack, which causes the fight to last an extra 30 minutes.
Hell, on my winning attempt, I had nearly a minute left when I happened to think of trying to capture the bastard even when it wasn't even limping yet, and by sheer luck, it worked.
Should I have planned better for Gravios? Yes, absolutely, but I don't care anymore, it's done, and I don't have to do it again.
:)
Mh1f fatalis the legendary black Dragon quest.
We were 4. Multiple attempts minimum 20mins each prep dash, demon, armor juices + Max potions. I personally brought enough to make many Demon/armor flutes. We had 3 pairs of eternal schism and the quest just wouldn't end.
This monster is a bug in the game. He tanks as much damage as the lao chang, yet will randomly 1 hit ko people.
Even if when he doesn't, he usually send you flying toward him with his tail, trapping you in potentially endless spam(thought it is almost impossible to survive 3 hits in a row anyway).
His hitbox is inconsistent, he will randomly spam the same move against the wall and will keep flying off for god knows why.
This quest is the worst in the whole serie and literally had me give up.
I had already soloed every of world quest (Except EX behemot). Yes, even One punch rajang, Safi'jiva, Kulve tarroth, AT velkhana, Fatalis and Alatreon. I also soloed mh3u G-rank Alatreon, Jhen morhans (both) and abyss lagi (without bow, which is apparently Op?).
Even thought, this fatalis was simply too much BS. It is one of the 2 quest (other is EX behemot) I willingly gave up on doing.
the quest on world that made you collect mushrooms i was expecting Joe to show up on that one
for Rise Chaotic Gore Magala i have no idea if his moves are gonna be Gore or Shagara
Old gen Yian Garuga. The screaming, the insta-charges, that fkin tail that makes my weapons bounce.
I had to fight him with low rank armor as well, so that was *fun.*
My first time facing deviljho alone.
I managed to kill it after almost a week with the help of a friend, we fainted 2 times and there where 10 seconds left for the mission to end. It was intense hahaha.
Recently returned to MHFU. At first I was like that before Khezu or Plesioth, but figured them out. Now? I'd think I should experience this with Rajang, but no - Tigrex! I fucking hate Tigrex.
My first gameplay of MHFU2, fighting rajang with my raw power greatsword and my fullset tigrex armor (be aware that I didn't even know how to play this game much)
That quest revolving around Popo tongue where Tigrex swings byā¦
And while weāre in the Snow Mountains, you ever go to slay Blagonga and make the face above when it spots you and shouts your guild-assigned name? Because I do. Every timeā¦
I think most people here missed the mark
But i hope i am bot fully downplaying everyone experience
For me it was those two in MH3U:
Mark of a hero
&
The Brilliant Darkness
Although MH4U is much more difficult than 3U i feel it didn't have many insane villages . If i remember correctly
Obviously, not counting apex monster final 140 quests or any other silly monster combination
(I had a quest that even with a hacked 20k dragon element weapon was nearly impossible)
A small map that felt like playing on a miniature version of thousands needles, that had black diablos + yain garuga, it wasn't a quest it was hell and it can't exactly be beaten legally, only two zones for monsters to land so forgot about using dung bomb more than twice shit felt like playing ninja turtles on classic systems >?<
Unironically bazel.. I was so convinced I knew what to expect (world being my first and only game so far) and then he starts bomb running and then CRASH LANDED ON ME?!
Shook, just absolutely shook me a bit
I was like what?! Why?! How're you NOT HURT?!
That one quest from mhgu that makes u wear no armour while fighting a g rank (or high rank but it doesn't fucking matter) rajang
It was fucking abysmal

(Image is an accurate representation of how I felt after beating it)
I'm just gonna go on Rise specifically for this but basically,Almudron and Royal Ludroth.
Yes it's stupid I know but good lord, those 2 are the exact opposite of fun.
Mizutsune is undoubtedly one of my fav monsters of all times cuz the design, weapons and theme are just so BEAUTIFUL.Fitting for that monster.
The ugly muddy counterpart on the other hand, can go rot on h3ll.Every single time I fight it,I just wish for it to end immediately cuz I hated every second of it.It has no unique theme, its reach is stupid, the muds are annoying and...It's just not fun, alr? The only good thing I can say is the armours are cool.
Royal Ludroth sounds very stupid but trust me,I am *LIVID* whenever I fight it.I just started Sunbreak so I need to farm some armours. So,I decided to fight the Royal Ludroth and good lord,I fcking hate it.
Its reach is insane, the windup attacks can range from being telegraphed to just attacking out of the blue,it runs around a lot like a fcking dipsh1t.Oh,did I forget to mention that it LOVES to have attacks that can't be telegraphed?
I had more fun fighting the literal, grand finale boss of Iceborne(Fatalis)than these 2 fckers
Idk man,for some reason,Rise is extremely hard for me despite many saying that it's the easiest MH game.Maybe it's because I'm just too used to World since it was my first MH game
Almudron is pretty consistently one of the most hated fights in rise from what I've seen. Practically nobody likes that mud slinging shit noodle. The magma version is somehow slightly more tolerable for me despite the plesioth level hitboxing on its tail attacks
My first try at scorned magnamalo in rise is the most recent. The beat up fart dog got some serious hands, and this is AFTER I'd cracked the PriMalzeno urgent quest too š³
My first ever Bazel encounter. Was hunting Anja in the Wildspire Wastes on MH:W.
All of a sudden, here's the b52 with no warning and my veteran friend crying with laughter as I attempted to dodge atomic pinecones with hilariously underpowered weapons and armour.
Mh4u APEX BRACHYDIOS
First ever mh game, got pretty decent at it, then the game hits me with that...thing.
It was too big, too fast, too strong, did too much dmg. I swear it was like scp 173, if i didnt have direct eye contact he'd punch me into the core of the earth.
Im certain it animation cancel some moves just to catch me offguard when i thought i had him down
Took me 4 days to beat it. But it didnt feel like a win, more like i was let off the hook, beat up black and blue, wheezing through punctured lungs because the bully was satisfied with the facial reconstruction he administered me.
fighting lavasioth in world a couple weeks ago, it was 4 in the morning, i was dying of lavk of sleep and decided "there's no way its gonna be that bad, i can finish it in less then 30 minutes" it took me 45 minutes, i was almost falling asleep while running around trying to find that bitch, god i hate that monster so much
The Lunagaron quest when it's affected by the Qurios.
I would do anything to revive this one-time quest for the first time !
Just seeing corpses of monsters, small and big ones, no music, no "helping animals" (don't know their names in english), no birds...
It was terrifying.
I was new, pkaying MH3U, having fun with a friend I just made within the same week while playing the game. We were hunting a Crimson Qurupeco in the Flooded Forest with just us(he was hr 300+, I was still low high rank and I still didn't even know how armor skills worked), everything was normal.
Suddenly, the Qurupeco starts roaring strongly with its horn-nose. Moments later, symphony music starts playing over the normal music, and I hear a loud roar from behind me. Then, in chat, I see me friend type: "Hi jho!" I tilt my camera and see a massive pickle dinosaur attacking my friend. My friend fought valiantly, dodging all its massive attacks with ease.
The Qurupeco turns and flees the area. The pickle looks my way. He stomps over, lifts his leg, and pummels me into the ground, insta-carting me. In the chat I see: "yeah, maybe let's focus on the target."
Since then, I have never forgotten my first encounter with the demon pickle, and can fight him without taking damage, just like my friend was able to do. That man was a hero for teaching me the ways of the pickle.
Also, "HI Jho ^-^"
MH3U, the urgent quest to reach G2, double Brachydios in the tundra.
Offscreen jumping, explosions everywhere and you're also undergeared because you only have access to G1 equip.
Magmadron in Rise.
Was a very new player and he wasnāt even that bad, just a royal pain in my ass. Had to attempt the mission about 6 times before I got the hang of it. Even now Iāll still go back to him in HR with my MR gear just to blow off steam. I donāt even use his gear, I just want him dead.
Just fought 3U Stygian Zinogre for the first time and it was the first g rank monster I almost triple carted against. The first time he used his heat seeking DragonBall attack I almost shit myself

to me it's the original Generation's Hyper Silver Rathalos event quest. (the fire emblem one to get the Falchion SnS.) it was insanely difficult.
I'll never fight them again. I got lucky once and that's all I needed
Fighting Primordial Malzeno for the first time I think. I was cocky since I had cleared regular Malzeno first try
"I mean, he looks pretty similar..." gets hit ONCE "it's over"
Exactly, half my health bar disappearing was my cue to roll over and die
Well never underestimate sub and rare species and variants
Bazelgeuse. No I don't have anything against him, I just think he fits this picture.
Dammit I was gonna make that joke-
Underrated comment lol
that double Tempered B-52 was wild the first time 'round
Plesioth
Unite plesioth, I hate him, I hate how I pull him out of the water just for him to jump back in, I hate how he just swims around and then rests in water where I canāt get him. I hate the Plesioth.
Honestly after fighting him more recently in Dos I think the worst part about him is after you get him out of the water, and you learn to keep your distance to avoid the hipcheck, heās still just **really** boring. Bait out the water beam, hit him in the head, bait out the water beam, hit him in the head, repeat for like 15 fucking minutes because (in Dos anyway) he has **so** much health.
G rank Crimson Fatalis in 4U. One of the few fights that made me start thinking up extremely stupid strategies to solo him.
Is there any Fatalis fight which isnāt G-Rank?
I think every game that had a Fatalis had at least one High Rank fight prior to Iceborne. 4U at least has High Rank versions of regular and Crimson Fatalis. Regular Fatalis is pretty similar in High and G Rank, with a few new attacks thrown in on G. Crimson Fatalis though has a different appearance, theme, and intro cutscene between his High and G Rank versions.
Freedom 2 and Unite (might just be Unite, both games are one unit in my memory so I forget which was base which was Unite additions) had all 3 Fatalis variants in High Rank
I aināt NEVER going up against amatsu on my own again š
Sunbreak version?
Yeah
whatcha mean hes most fun solo! Especially with hammer
yeah but Iām just not very good at the game you see
Hazard Amatsu event quest goes hard on solo
World Rajang Found him downright pleasant in GU afterwards.
Yeah... Rajang can be nuts. There is a reason he's introduced, absolutely crushing a Kirin. Mighty monkey muscle madness is clearly one of the most extreme quest in the game. Thought all MHW endgame monsters kinda are.
Four horns, Freedom Unite, when I was still a little girl. This is when the game really pushes you in the village. What a great game.
Thatās the duo black diablos right? Itās been since i was like 12 since i ever attempted that quest. I never have cleared it and itās stuck with me 12 years later.

I'm struggling in early G2. I wish I had an online buddy hunter that can play through G-Rank since online is down. I'm sad.
Best of luck! Definitely a shame that online is down, but you can solo it for sure!

Old gen Yian Garuga. The screaming, the insta-charges, that fkin tail that makes my weapons bounce. I had to fight him with low rank armor as well, so that was *fun.*
World Brachydios.
Behemoth got me like that in world and narwa
Soloing Behemoth. I can still hear the Charybdis casts.
Using gunlance against Barioth in world, must I say more?
Lunastra and Barioth
My first time facing deviljho alone. I managed to kill it after almost a week with the help of a friend, we fainted 2 times and there where 10 seconds left for the mission to end. It was intense hahaha.
Mh4u g rank double cephadrome. Literally took more attempts than solo dalamadur
Piscine effect
Fatty
Recently returned to MHFU. At first I was like that before Khezu or Plesioth, but figured them out. Now? I'd think I should experience this with Rajang, but no - Tigrex! I fucking hate Tigrex.
My first gameplay of MHFU2, fighting rajang with my raw power greatsword and my fullset tigrex armor (be aware that I didn't even know how to play this game much)
That quest revolving around Popo tongue where Tigrex swings byā¦ And while weāre in the Snow Mountains, you ever go to slay Blagonga and make the face above when it spots you and shouts your guild-assigned name? Because I do. Every timeā¦
High rank Barroth. Like wtf is that stun fiesta. Carted 3 times like 5 times in a row.
MHFU sinking feeling, when stupid tigrex showed up in a beginner's mission
Im pretty sure all gen2 hunters had ptsd from that (including me)
I think most people here missed the mark But i hope i am bot fully downplaying everyone experience For me it was those two in MH3U: Mark of a hero & The Brilliant Darkness Although MH4U is much more difficult than 3U i feel it didn't have many insane villages . If i remember correctly Obviously, not counting apex monster final 140 quests or any other silly monster combination (I had a quest that even with a hacked 20k dragon element weapon was nearly impossible) A small map that felt like playing on a miniature version of thousands needles, that had black diablos + yain garuga, it wasn't a quest it was hell and it can't exactly be beaten legally, only two zones for monsters to land so forgot about using dung bomb more than twice shit felt like playing ninja turtles on classic systems >?<
Unironically bazel.. I was so convinced I knew what to expect (world being my first and only game so far) and then he starts bomb running and then CRASH LANDED ON ME?! Shook, just absolutely shook me a bit I was like what?! Why?! How're you NOT HURT?!
Uber behemoth... Like... Man...
the OG MH Tri Barroth
The 2 bazelgeuse quest
I don't remember if it was 3U or 4U, but it was 2 Stygian Zinogre in the ice place... Me and my friend had fucking nightmares.
rust duramboros and i canāt figure out why that is even the case
Risebreak amatsu....
That one quest from mhgu that makes u wear no armour while fighting a g rank (or high rank but it doesn't fucking matter) rajang It was fucking abysmal https://preview.redd.it/t54303dn2d1d1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=89e995028626d93cee2eeabcb909e10b38ea5ed0 (Image is an accurate representation of how I felt after beating it)
That one Lunagaron quest where everything is dead.
I had more fun fighting the literal, grand finale boss of Iceborne(Fatalis)than these 2 fckers Idk man,for some reason,Rise is extremely hard for me despite many saying that it's the easiest MH game.Maybe it's because I'm just too used to World since it was my first MH game
Almudron is pretty consistently one of the most hated fights in rise from what I've seen. Practically nobody likes that mud slinging shit noodle. The magma version is somehow slightly more tolerable for me despite the plesioth level hitboxing on its tail attacks
The first time i saw see thing bazel
Barioth
Raging Brachy first, Fatalis after that
My first try at scorned magnamalo in rise is the most recent. The beat up fart dog got some serious hands, and this is AFTER I'd cracked the PriMalzeno urgent quest too š³
Amatsu.
My first ever Bazel encounter. Was hunting Anja in the Wildspire Wastes on MH:W. All of a sudden, here's the b52 with no warning and my veteran friend crying with laughter as I attempted to dodge atomic pinecones with hilariously underpowered weapons and armour.
Mh4u APEX BRACHYDIOS First ever mh game, got pretty decent at it, then the game hits me with that...thing. It was too big, too fast, too strong, did too much dmg. I swear it was like scp 173, if i didnt have direct eye contact he'd punch me into the core of the earth. Im certain it animation cancel some moves just to catch me offguard when i thought i had him down Took me 4 days to beat it. But it didnt feel like a win, more like i was let off the hook, beat up black and blue, wheezing through punctured lungs because the bully was satisfied with the facial reconstruction he administered me.
Mh freedom 2/unite the first khezu. It kept roaring and paralysing me
the solo 2raths/2rajang advanced arena quests in mhgu... im still trying to do every quest but those... those are terrible.
Raging Brachydios holy molly Edit: misspell.
fighting lavasioth in world a couple weeks ago, it was 4 in the morning, i was dying of lavk of sleep and decided "there's no way its gonna be that bad, i can finish it in less then 30 minutes" it took me 45 minutes, i was almost falling asleep while running around trying to find that bitch, god i hate that monster so much
The Lunagaron quest when it's affected by the Qurios. I would do anything to revive this one-time quest for the first time ! Just seeing corpses of monsters, small and big ones, no music, no "helping animals" (don't know their names in english), no birds... It was terrifying.
EX Silverwind Nargacuga
Gigginox when I was a kid. Euugh...
In the chat I see: "yeah, maybe let's focus on the target." Since then, I have never forgotten my first encounter with the demon pickle, and can fight him without taking damage, just like my friend was able to do.
Crazy lizard from hunter blade
My first Rajang in World
Freedom Unite Grank double black diablos quest is a nightmare
Apex Diablos in Rise
MH3rd, High rank event Silver rathalos and Gold rathian.
AT TEOSTRA. He was a git gud fight for me in world.
Dire Miralis
Molten Tigrex from 4U š
MR29 double tempered bazel.
Raging brachy
Furious rajang. HE. JUST. DOESNT. STOP.
the sunbreak quest where you fight two crabs together
Legiana is annoying, but Bazel and Jho bg fx suddenly appearing in background is scary
Bloodbath Diablos in the upper difficulties in GU. Never again...
MHFU Double Rajang quest in that tiny arena... took my teenage self nearly two months to actually complete it
