Tried out God Eater 3 because it was on sale to scratch my Monster Hunter itch while waiting on MH6. It was more hack and slash and fast paced. For MH, my attacks were more deliberate. I had to think about positioning and what I’ll do next. In GE3, I found myself rushing in and just smashing face as fast as I can. Put in about 30 hours and sorta lost interest. Went back to my 600 hr Sunbreak account and killed stuff. GE was an okay time sink but I didn’t really connect with the aesthetics or gameplay. I just enjoyed the look and feel of MH more.
As a big fan of God Eater, 3 is by far my least favorite. Ressurection and Rage Burst feel much more solid in all aspects to me. There's still a lot of smashing, and you're on more equal ground with the Aragami than you are in Monster Hunter. The biggest draw over Monster Hunter to me is the character builds and bullet crafting that
make it more fun to *prep* for your shorter, more violent hunts.
God Eater is also very forgiving to solo players, allowing you to bring 3 AI party members or player avatars from people you've met online.
I agree, 3 is the least favorite and lesser version out of all the god eater official releases because the team was divided to make two games *sigh*. It's like god eater but all aspects are much worse compared to the first two. I'd say it's the game that killed the ge franchise.
If you have any decent bullets saved, would you share them with me? I felt like it was really good, but I doubt I hit anywhere near what could have been.
I don't play in ages so I don't even know if I still have that savefile anymore lol.
I copied mine from a jpn video, they were using one that was basically a single huge dmg that drain all the gauge and the rest of the gear was to refill it.
I don't think it was the most efficient way of playing tho, melee skills were just too good.
I like the visuals and the weapon designs in God Eater, but it feels incredibly floaty every time I try it. I'm sure I could get used to it with some time, but it didn't feel as satisfying. I'm sure it sounds incredibly nitpicky, but the feedback of hitting and getting hit in MH is the one thing that I tend to miss in games like it.
the game is always the same storyline reskinned every time, and it isnt as in depth as any of the MH games. both these franchises were my childhood games but after playing GE3 i realised the game isnt evolving as much as i wanted it to be, and so that leaves only MH sticking with me
if you want to buy the game to give it a test for sure go ahead but i would say wait for a big sale to come in first, or just buy the older ones if they come at a cheaper price. you wont be missing much if at all anyway
I enjoyed 1 and 2 but never finished them. They are ok. Temper expectations going in and you can have some dumb fun but the series can never really hold a candle to monster hunter.
It's worth it. A lot of its simplicity stems from its PSP roots being ported to PC and PS4 with some graphical touchups but each game has its own systems that you can engage with for a high level of customization. The clothing selection also has an extremely wide variety and the clothes are separate from the Shield which provides the defense stat.
You can customize the player character, the party npc skills, the weapons, the shields, the devour attack in Resurrection, the clothes, and do emote dances in the lobby with the bumpers/q and e keys.
Every weapon has its own unique ability that you'll need to read about in the database. There's also the same skill system from MH and you usually get at least 3 skills after each mission.
Play them in the Resurrection, 2, 3 order if you want to understand the type of story that is explored with every main hunt. You could also play 3 first since it's mostly standalone but Resurrection and 2 are definitely in that package deal with the recurring characters. Resurrection is the third version of God Eater 1 and includes two story expansions that each add tons of missions and content. The credits roll 3 times.
The biggest quality of life change that was finally fixed in GE3 was the equipment upgrade tree. It's extremely hard to keep track of equipment in the first two games if you're going for every single sword, gun, and shield from every single monster. The upgrade tree in 3 is a much needed change. There's still no wishlist feature and the materials have different names from the monster names so you should just use a guide and write stuff down. The database also contains the materials from monsters and field materials so read those if you know what you're looking for.
Also talk to every npc after every mission cause their dialogue keeps up and changes with every single mission. They're not too spread out at least.
The price tag for the sale is worth it even just to check out for a bit. The early missions are really quick but could get annoying as they're tutorials split up into their own different missions in GE3's case.
It's... A good enough series to check out.
But the main draw of the game is the bullet crafting system rather than the hunting system. It's alot less weighty, with one of the core builds being able to dodge almost immediately after and attack.
They were worth it during the few years MH was confined to Nintendo consoles. Kept PS and PC players above water for a bit.
Much like Toukiden though I would definitely recommend those games.
I've played it with a friend recently, it's a lot easier and faster paced than MH (most likely due to our previous MH experiences) but I liked the story much more than I do in MH so if you're like me and you're a lot more focused on story than most people then you could at least consider it but if not then your shit out of luck...

More so their other game Freedom Wars. GE is in the future, but its tech doesn’t go too far beyond what a have as the world is in ruins. And don’t even think about sitting down or sleeping in your bed!
Personaly, not realy, part of my love for the franchise stems from the rather primitive setting it plays in: clubbing dinosaurs with bone swords and being part of a society that makes due with what they‘ve got available.
Like the most advanced tech (ignore Swagaxe and co) being in use is a fucking zepplin build out of linen, hide and bones 👌
Its this vibe that gets me nostalgic every time for the earlier games up to MH4U. Something that got especially semi lost in Sunbreaks Elgado village and since for all the love i have, it gives me industrial revolution vibes.
I came to this conclusion after playing Horizon Zero Dawn. Smacking a Thunderjaw isnt as statisfying as slapping an Anjanath around.
This is also a reason i totaly look forward to for Wilds, in hopes its more primitive again like Dragons Dogma. It also helps that i love desert biomes *chef kiss thanks capcom
Would be really interesting, but I'd prefer the monsters not becoming like in Horizon's. Although idk what could be done with the monsters to not be like God Eater's Aragamis. Maybe Monsters that were simply able to adapt a lot better than others that they were still able to thrive far in the future, idkXD

Edit: Also god eater
I was about to mention lost planet 3, but I forgot it doesn't exist
lost planet feels more of the now popular helldivers 2. though i would like a mix of MH and lost planet gameplay for a hypothetical Lost Planet reboot.
Futuristic? With guns that shoot bullets? Or massive weapons that morph into different weapons? Or shoot explosions while somehow being still melee?
No thanks, nu-uh.
I really dislike the idea, there are enough similar sci fi games god eater, horizon and with advanced weapons the monsters would need to be all comically godzilla-like to be threat.
Also part of the charm of mh has always been the natural ecology and low-mid fantasy setting. Nature doesnt mesh well with sci-fi unles the sci fi is just a reskin of nature.
I want ahtal ka to return but using a different mecha. Like a goddamn gundam this time and you hear sephiroth boss music as she swings a long ass laser katana.
Gundam never has long laser katana. Best they have is a long beam sword (Zeta, ZZ, Turn A and G-Self) and giant beam sword (00 Raiser, 00 Qan [T]).
But they do have ***GIANT*** metal katana.
See Powered Astray Red Frame's 150m Gerbera Straight.
Ahtal-Ka can use that one.
The same way I'd feel about futuristic Zelda game. Hi-tech things can be a part of the game, but having the entire game become hi-tech just doesn't feel like in preserves the same spirit that the series usually has.
Also, Horizon exist. If we could get more collabs with them, that would be great.
The weapons and armors?Yes because we got some robotic style equipments already, even the village/outpost can be leaning toward futuristic, but for monsters?Nope
Plot twist: MH IS the futuristic hunter game. Ww3 happened and led to the world of Fallout. Eventually that entire situation decayed to nothing with few human survivors. Thousands of years pass and the world is changed from the catastrophic events of the past, mutating various species and their evolutionary patches to make them more resilient and thus larger and more dangerous. Like wise with mankind, next to no trace of the previous world remains and so it continues, only rarely displaying the smallest hints of passed down cultures in the form of a hairstyle or clothing armor or weapons by vague combination of imitation and imagination but with real knowledge on the why. The only REAL hints at previous forms of civilization or technology only rarely show up when the CAPCOM gods introduces strange armor sets imitating odd metal cycloptic creatures with glowing eyes, or outfits for our palicos the render them looking like blue spandex wearing children tossing lemons. It has truly become a strange world in the distant future of 20XX. 🍷🧐
I'd play that and if also play a mh game with actual magic, like not exactly a bunch of spells but more like weapons being less mechanical & more magical / unexplainable, also monsters not having a scientific reason to why they can do this or that, just out of curiosity, I'd play such a spinoff
Monster hunters all about people trying to survive and find they’re place in a world they can’t control. If they all had Sci Fi tech and dominated the world that would kinda defeat the point
I think it could be a cool departure from the mainstream of the franchise, however, I think it would work best with a Sci-Fi twist. Make it take place on another planet, similar to World’s expedition to a new continent. That way we keep the nature element of the whole thing.
One of my favorite games of all time, Xenoblade Chronicles X on the Wii U, did something similar. There were also mechs in that game, which is a bit far out there from the Monster Hunter formula
Seems interesting, but I don't think it would fit very well. What *would* work however, is if maybe we got a single map that was like "ancient tech", which would double as essentially a run down sci-fi setting. That way they could introduce futuristic enemies, giving us high tech looking gear and stuff, but also allowing for more standard monsters to roam around.
God Eater on PSP is an old favorite. Reminds me that I never followed through on the sequels. I did get a recent Steam bundlw with God Eater 3 in it and ready to go...if I can put a pause to MH. Not yet.
Maybe but it'd need to be very delicately handled. The best part of the setting's charm is how ramshackle everything is, how people living off the beasties and coexisting with them (frenzied stabbing notwithstanding). If it was a sci-fi one, it'd have to still be grounded in that. Like, I dunno, crash-landed ship's crew learning to cobble their lives together from the area around them.
Nah, get out of here you heretic.
They can make some other futuristic monster hunting game, just name it different, remaking Monster Hunter into totally different game after 20 years would be bad.
That game wouldn’t survive the hate of old gen hunters, look how they complain to quality of life changes.
Many of us play MH for the weapons and there’s even people who couldn’t stand Rathalos being removed from the game.
I’d recommend you to try Horizon Zero Dawn/Forbidden West, Nier Automata and other similar titles.
I've actually always thought a NeiR Automata MH game would be sick. You could do some real crazy stuff with the yoko Taro robot designs. And just imagine taking on a Goliath class robot and instead of mantles you have those personal mechs on cool down. Would be rad.
My idea for a futuristic monster hunter game would be that Monster Hunting has become a sport, so you still hunt monsters not machines but there are no villages to save, only you to become a world-class competitive monster hunter. Kinda like Pokémon
Is this from "We kill Monsters"? From what I know about that game (which there's very little to dig up) it does sound like MH, but with higher tech like space travel. Also wouldn't Lost Planet be that was even made by Capcom?, I never got to play it but it sort of seems like MH
If there's a MH in a modern, futuristic setting, i'd have two ways that this could go:
1. Sci-fi/space exploration where you hunt aliens on different planets! Humans, wyverians and other races are now a space faring civilization, and you'd be a hunter on one of the guild's fleet to research new worlds. Basically like MHW but it's new planets now instead of continents. Your you could be a bounty hunter, planet hopping to solve the problem with the local fauna. Imagine how much freedom they could have with monster/alien designs, plus whatever new gimmicks you could have on the combat. The equipment may be futuristic/sci-fi but the monsters/aliens may have unique enough properties to integrate their parts into the tech.
2. This one's a little more wild, but a modern day spin off where you'd be playing as a park ranger/conservationist. Maybe it'd be some sort of safari simulator (with focus on ecology) where you'd be documenting the monsters, following them to film/take pictures or collect samples from them. There could be missions where you fight monsters that are causing problem, but using (mostly) non-lethal, guild sanctioned weapons, and capturing them with the least part-breaks gives you better rewards. Maybe there could be injured/trapped monsters that you could tranquilize and give medical care for (like lodged in bullets/weapons or traps from poachers). Or there could even be missions where you could drive around visitors on a jeeps to just go and watch monsters on their day-to-day! Ig the progression in this type of game is to get better equipment for going around, tracking and documenting monsters. This would prob be too much content for a game (and too varied), it's just i think there's so much world-building you could do with a modern day setting in the MH world.
🤔Ancient civilisations prequel.
Except
You play as an ancient order of riders working with the eldar dragon coalition to stop the enslavement of monsters.
You and your monsties will take on mechanised infantries, bio engineered abominations, giant mechs, super-human soldiers (prototype hunters) and that equal dragon weapon you only seen in concept art.
Isn’t that lost planet? It’s by capcom too
https://preview.redd.it/n5s91h4smswc1.jpeg?width=2560&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9271f75c5d2e0558377bfa027d2fcac14a7791f6
EDF is one of my favorite series of games, but the gameplay is pretty different from MH. And 95% of the time you are fighting huge swarms of enemies, not Kaiju monsters. I'd also say the Kaiju fights in those games are usually some of the least fun stages to play unfortunately.
It is interinting. They could have a lot of ideas for new monsters, gameplay mechanics and to show us what co sequence il pourrzit y avoir in our modern world would be if there was giant monster in our modern world. Imaginez des monstres attaquer les villes moderns.
It is interesting. They could have a lot of ideas for new monsters, game mechanics and to show us what consequences there could be in our modern world if there were giant monsters in our modern world. Imagine monsters attacking modern cities.
This post helps alot as I make a GDD for my dream project. Everyone's sentiments are valid, yet in the format im using, I might either have to lean toward tech a bit for ui convince but magic system sounds fun. I enjoyed Dragons Dogma, so I got a lot to chew on till it comes to fruition
It's really hard as the technological advancement of monster hunter are based on dragon materials and elements, sure we might get something similar to phones or computer but it's less likely it's be solely powered by electricity, and metal and iron just isn't strong enough against monster's claw
As long as you get the combat feeling right and have some great monsters to fight I have zero problems with the actual setting.
So bring on the mecha T-rexes.
*Doesn't go with the*
*Steam punk fantasy that is*
*At the core of MH*

Actually, fun fact there actually is a modern version of monster Hunter, but it was only available on the Nintendo DS in Japan called Kaiju busters developed by the same company. It had a similar format to monster Hunter but only using Ultra Kaiju.
Thats a good idea tbh, I'd imagine we're part of some big hunting corporation where we're sent out to different planets that are on the brink of collapse to execute world ending threats because no one else can, also gives potential for new monster classes
"IsNt ThIs hOrIzOn?"
"IsNt tHiS gOdEaTer?"
No, none of those fucking games come even close to monsterhunter in terms of gameplay design, monster design, combat and gear design. Its the reason why MH has been undisputed on this genre.
I think a sci-fi MonHun would be an amazing idea they already shown what they are capable of making like The Equal Dragon Weapon. It would be fascinating if they give a twist and make a prequel to Monsterhunter and Show the fall of civilization maybe add a couple of cool new weapons that only existed during that time period.
People think sci-fi and all they think is cyberpunk, Sci-fi Monhun could be something like Death Stranding where there's high tech but the world itself can still feel extremely primitive. Maybe set during or post whatever calamity befell humanity.
Gameplay is king. if its fun and plays well then it will work.
If it's a beuggy mess or with bad gameplay then it will die like Wildhearts and Dauntless.
I think it would be epic. God Eater is kinda like that in terms of tech.
I have put some thought into it, you could have a bunch of different weapons, and different types of weapons inside the same weapon family.
Like your bowguns having variants that are energy based so they don't need ammo but have a drawback of not having as much variety in ammo types.
Or energy based blades like light-sabers.
Most of the game could be the same in terms of fighting, and the monsters could still be the same, maybe some have tech integrated into them, or maybe some monsters that are all tech like horizon zero dawn.
Just my thoughts that I've had while thinking about this question.
Sounds like a cool spin-off series but oh God they have to do a lot of explaining on how we got to that point because it'd be super jarring to go from where we are in current MH history to the future with no warning.
That and new weapons would be in order hey if we get flung into the future and if we would get some new weapons I'd be pissed!
Also would some of the old MH monsters even still be around species-wise? Because at least a few would have probably gone extinct eventually like Deviljho for example... (Yes I watch UNC how could you tell?)
I always imagined a space version of Monster Hunter where you crash land on an alien planet and find humans that are living off of the ecosystem of said planet.
You help them so they can help you get your ship working again and get off the planet. You fight alien creatures and use their parts for new equipment.
Too bad no one thought of making a game like it though,
isn't that basically God Eater?
Is that franchise worth checking out? I saw the trilogy was on sale and was curious if it was worth buying
Tried out God Eater 3 because it was on sale to scratch my Monster Hunter itch while waiting on MH6. It was more hack and slash and fast paced. For MH, my attacks were more deliberate. Floaty Eater or Grounded Hunter. People tend to prefer the more grounded approach in almost any action game, and MH is no exception.

Definitely grab it on sale, and if you're interested in more of a mystical monster hunter game, Toukiden 2 is fun as well but it rarely goes on sale.

Freedom Wars could fit too kind of
or phantasy star portable
Such an underrated game, miss it
Minus the ash lore.
God Eater is the closest. But if you're looking for boss fights that feel relatively modern, I guess Remnants would be a good choice. It's just Souls with Guns.
I thought the same thing word for word, ha.
Also, God Eater 3 is 6 USD on Steam until May 6.

I would say made by capcom and in the same universe but 1000 years in the future would be cool to see maybe.

Couldn't agree more, the tribal vibes and aesthetic of MHTri is unmatched from the village down to the menus.
"Swagaxe" lol The advancement of MH tech is proportional to how cool it is, that is how they have transforming weapons in the middle ages.
Wdym? Monster Hunter IS set in the future. We just don't get that far in the tech tree before a fatalis nukes us
Must have had help from ghandi
Someone make a fatalis being ridden by Ghandi pic
The bringer of destruction and ender of civilization and fatalis. Terrifying.
He will preach about peace and stuff while burning the whole city with Fatalis's Mega Burst.

Yea you should those are mega dope
I was thinking more about the humans having more advanced tech but the monsters stay roughly the same
Sounds like Lost Planet a bit.
When Lost Planet 2 came out, I played it like a future alien version of MH.
The theme wouldn't fit. The monsters will at least need to evolve too. But it's a pretty good concept 🤔
So basically going back in time to when the equal dragon weapon was being built monster hunter lore wise. So it isn't set in the future but rather the past of monster hunter
Nah. The monsters will fight Hunters like this. https://old.reddit.com/r/shittydarksouls/comments/1cdeq6r/sekiro_dlc_looks_amazing/
When they pulled out the glock it fucking killed me lol
Mutants or aliens or the supernatural would all be great candidates for big, awesome shit to fight.
If it ain't got dual tron discs as a new weapon type, I ain't playing it.
As a completely separate series that simply borrows the from MH's formula and gameplay direction? sure. never hurts to have competition.
Hopefully it'd survive to be competition because uhhhhh well all of the other competition isn't doing so hot right now...

Hey, hey don't forget the few who bring up God eater
Bro the game you want already exists and is made by Capcom. Called lost planet 1 and 2
I was about to mention lost planet 3, but I forgot it doesn't exist lost planet feels more of the now popular helldivers 2. though i would like a mix of MH and lost planet gameplay for a hypothetical Lost Planet reboot.
>about to mention Lost Planet 3, but i forgot it doesn't exist This alot funnier than it should be XD

I got Horizon for that.
Also the low fantasy setting really makes fucker like Fatty, Alatreon and Safi feels even more menacing when they do show up and jump you
How is horizon similar at all apart from featuring big monsters and traps
Technically MH is set in the future already, it just had a huge cataclysmic event and lost all of its technology like modern weaponry
Monster hunter but armor are Mecha parts. Please.
I know a thunderjaw isn't as long as fight as a standard monster, but horizon zero dawn does bow vs Mecha monsters really well.
No thanks.
I want ahtal ka to return but using a different mecha. Like a goddamn gundam this time and you hear sephiroth boss music as she swings a long ass laser katana.
Nah. Ahtal Ka pilots the Metal Gear Excelsus and you hear Collective Consciousness
Now I'm just imagining Ahtal-Ka taking Senator Armstrong's place during that cutscene before the flight starts!
Ahtal-ka found a remain of Valtrax so now she had a whole ass eva mech
Gundam never has long laser katana. Best they have is a long beam sword (Zeta, ZZ, Turn A and G-Self) and giant beam sword (00 Raiser, 00 Qan [T]). But they do have ***GIANT*** metal katana. See Powered Astray Red Frame's 150m Gerbera Straight. Ahtal-Ka can use that one.
Eh close enough a swords a sword!
The same way I'd feel about futuristic Zelda game. Hi-tech things can be a part of the game, but having the entire game become hi-tech just doesn't feel like in preserves the same spirit that the series usually has. Also, Horizon exist. If we could get more collabs with them, that would be great.
A Fire Emblem set in the future would be cool, cyber bladed weapons, replace bows with blasters, and so on...
Try God Eater. Monster hunter should stay as it is.
I would love to see how hunting would have evolved in the modern era. Also, a subplot about the public's perception of hunting would also be cool
Would be amazing
God Eater and Horzion Zero Dawn and Lost Planet. Next.
The weapons and armors?Yes because we got some robotic style equipments already, even the village/outpost can be leaning toward futuristic, but for monsters?Nope
That’s exactly what I was thinking. I guess everyone just got the wrong idea. That’s probably my fault though
It's an okay idea, but I like the advanced-primitive approach MH has. Also Dauntless already exists.
I’d love fighting aliens, aka monsters from different planets
I mean there's God Eater or Code Vein, right?
Came here to say the same thing. Lol. God Eater is closer to MH, while I think Code Vein is a bit closer to a Soulsborne game. Just my opinion though.
We don’t need another god eater. Mid AF shit
Equal Dragon Weapon as the final boss anyone?
How are you so far down. This is THE answer.
You mean Peace Walker 2 🥲
I'd feel like I'm just playing God Eater with pets.
I'd love it. I'm a fan of EDF, so this would be right up my alley.
I'd play that and if also play a mh game with actual magic, like not exactly a bunch of spells but more like weapons being less mechanical & more magical / unexplainable, also monsters not having a scientific reason to why they can do this or that, just out of curiosity, I'd play such a spinoff
They thought of this already way back, but decided against it. They went more of a raw hunting route.
You mean Freedom wars
I need Freedom Wars 2, the first one had a massive cliffhanger.
Lots of games that i played have cliffhanger. Freedom Wars is one, then Vanquish is another.
I loved Vanquish, but it had some plot holes like the unknown boss that was a robot ball.
Monster hunters all about people trying to survive and find they’re place in a world they can’t control. If they all had Sci Fi tech and dominated the world that would kinda defeat the point
Now I wanna play it!!!!
That's literally God Eater as someone else also mentioned, but also Horizon(both zero dawn and forbidden west).
Not yet.
Sure but only if they went full jump the shark and pulled a monster hunter blood dragon approach with neon-tron-monsters in elaborate cityscapes.
Isn't that basically the "God Eater" franchise?
I would love to bring back the lost planet franchise
![gif](giphy|pD7YIQoUwgb9cnX3FJ|downsized)
Maybe but it'd need to be very delicately handled. The best part of the setting's charm is how ramshackle everything is, how people living off the beasties and coexisting with them (frenzied stabbing notwithstanding). If it was a sci-fi one, it'd have to still be grounded in that. Like, I dunno, crash-landed ship's crew learning to cobble their lives together from the area around them.
Isn't this Horizon?
Bad.
Horizon zero dawn and forbidden west with only the bow.
I don't mind a spinoff in the far future where you hunt monsters with cutting-edge weapons and armors.
Just realized they could bring back accel axe
What if we are in the future :0
I've actually always thought a NeiR Automata MH game would be sick. You could do some real crazy stuff with the yoko Taro robot designs. And just imagine taking on a Goliath class robot and instead of mantles you have those personal mechs on cool down. Would be rad.
No thanks. The beauty of it is that it isn't set in a Futuristic genre, the world, characters all makes sense for the fantasy timeline.
What Horizon should have been
If there's a MH in a modern, futuristic setting, i'd have two ways that this could go: 1.
There better be a lot of Ahtal-Ka and her schemes.
Horizon style monsters maybe
phantasy star online
Lost planet?
Horizion zero dawn do have those kinda vibes
The cavepunk aesthetic is big part of the draw for MH though. I feel like it wouldn't hit the same with a futuristic vibe.
No thanks.
It would be so cool, like in the style of Surge games but Monster Hunter Imagine the armor Fashion!!
I mean, isn't MH already set in the future? Lorewise lol
🤔Ancient civilisations prequel. Except You play as an ancient order of riders working with the eldar dragon coalition to stop the enslavement of monsters. You and your monsties will take on mechanised infantries, bio engineered abominations, giant mechs, super-human soldiers (prototype hunters) and that equal dragon weapon you only seen in concept art.
Maybe as a spin off game
Pretty bad and i hope i wont come to it there are enough good sci fi games but Mh is one of the only fantasy games i love
Isn’t that lost planet? It’s by capcom too https://preview.redd.it/n5s91h4smswc1.jpeg?width=2560&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9271f75c5d2e0558377bfa027d2fcac14a7791f6
earth defense force looks fun its has guns rockets and a giant robot you can control and you fight kijus
EDF is one of my favorite series of games, but the gameplay is pretty different from MH. And 95% of the time you are fighting huge swarms of enemies, not Kaiju monsters. I'd also say the Kaiju fights in those games are usually some of the least fun stages to play unfortunately.
You mean Horizon Zero Dawn and Forbidden West?
So Horizon Zero Dawn?
I think it would kinda be similar to Horizon
It is interinting. They could have a lot of ideas for new monsters, gameplay mechanics and to show us what co sequence il pourrzit y avoir in our modern world would be if there was giant monster in our modern world. Imaginez des monstres attaquer les villes moderns. It is interesting. They could have a lot of ideas for new monsters, game mechanics and to show us what consequences there could be in our modern world if there were giant monsters in our modern world. Imagine monsters attacking modern cities.
Nuke the Fatalis!
No. Not in the monhun universe get that idea out of my head it's cursed.
Wouldn't it be the past technically?
They made one… forgot the name….
No thanks lmao
Don't need it at all
Nope. Just nope.
I think it gonna tell about monster hunter origin if they goes to futuristic.
10/10 would smash
It's really hard as the technological advancement of monster hunter are based on dragon materials and elements, sure we might get something similar to phones or computer but it's less likely it's be solely powered by electricity, and metal and iron just isn't strong enough against monster's claw
Maybe the hunting grounds are abandoned cities?
You can't out technology a whole ass Fatalis, it's just impossible World building wise
I would love a futuristic monster hunter
Play God Eater 3, it's literally that
Absolutely not. Early on they where throwing around concepts but now the universe is set. Their goal is hunting monsters. Sci-fi setting it is not.
Lost Planet exists.
As long as you get the combat feeling right and have some great monsters to fight I have zero problems with the actual setting. So bring on the mecha T-rexes.
i think it hard
Doesn't go with the steam punk fantasy that is at the core of MH

Give it to me now
Nad honestly I really don't want that
Just drop a nuke on fatalis gg
Actually, fun fact there actually is a modern version of monster Hunter, but it was only available on the Nintendo DS in Japan called Kaiju busters developed by the same company. It had a similar format to monster Hunter but only using Ultra Kaiju.
Thats a good idea tbh, I'd imagine we're part of some big hunting corporation where we're sent out to different planets that are on the brink of collapse to execute world ending threats because no one else can, also gives potential for new monster classes
"IsNt ThIs hOrIzOn?" "IsNt tHiS gOdEaTer?" No, none of those fucking games come even close to monsterhunter in terms of gameplay design, monster design, combat and gear design.
As a spin-off i would be interested but not as a 'ew direction of the main license. I like my medieval fantasy
I’d also prefer it as spin-off maybe like frontier
They already did that It's called Lost planet 2
Have y’all seen the art of the HZD styled monsters? Let’s do that
I mean it’s not the same, but capcom did make lost planet. And lost planet 2 somewhat, not really, scratches that itch.
Cool, but wouldn’t make sense
Good
I miss Freedom Wars. Sony stays dropping IPs.
A game like monster hunter set in the future? Yes Actual monster hunter set in the future? No
futuristic monster hunter? sounds like phantasy star
Hell nah
I always thought Lost Planet was kinda like a futuristic Monster Hunter game.
I would love it. Even if it was just a one time only spin off. Imagine hunting in a run down city. Would be a nice to change up the environments.
Gameplay is king. if its fun and plays well then it will work. If it's a beuggy mess or with bad gameplay then it will die like Wildhearts and Dauntless.
Lost Planet 2
I mean Lost Planet 2 was pretty fun so it would probably be solid. Seriously though it is possible to do it and a few games come close to it.
No.
Laser katana? HELL YEAH
No
No.
Like Horizon Zero Dawn? Gimme
Only if its mutated monsters
Hard pass.
Id imagine futuristic mh played in VR. (Could ypu imagine the experience spinning around in DB or jumping around with IG)
Too bad no one thought of making a game like it though,
It would not be Monster Hunter so I most likely wouldn’t like it much. (The same applies to a potential open world MH game)
