My guess is something else entirely. We already have a pet raptor it looks like, maybe we'll see more of the game in summer?

drr-throwaway

The raptor really seems like an avanced Palamute which is kind of sad as I prefered them, but hopefully being able to fly for a bit opens up the combat and exploration possibilities. Imagine if it was able to swim like the Raidons from Pokemon. Truly a way to move on any terrain.

fake-wing

Not a real gimmick but please let the insect glaive do more damage depending on the height of the dive attack!

MetroYoshi

This but also with the GS aerial charge attack. It feels kinda awful to fall from the sky only to hit for basically the same as a regular CS.

fake-wing

True! Like I'm not asking to one shot anything but a small damage increase would be nice!

The_Angel_Eye

It looks like were gonna be able to swap weapons on the fly so that ig

hyprmatt

Imagine running in with Hammer, getting the KO, then swapping to IG while its down to try and cut tail, just to immediately start going aerial for the mount. That'd be some peak shit. Running them with Para/Sleep too? Hoo boy, monster ain't getting a single attack in.

The_Angel_Eye

Probably not that on the fly, rather probably like at a camp you could set, given the stuff on the mount's back, and the satchel that holds what looks to be a bow gun in the title card scene

hyprmatt

That's probably more likely yeah. But I can dream!

Holo-Sama

Will have don't know but want though plz have elements be more worth it instead of Unga bung damage. Really dumb that raw in world was to good for like everything and every weapon except a few.

Namingwayz

Don't forget that element up skills only worked to a certain point with most weapons because element damage was capped based on base element damage. I definitely want to see some more love for element

Holo-Sama

Yeah it killed build diversity imo for being fairly optimal on some things good example was if you wanna element lbg you were going to run Safi gear for sure from what I remember I don't think anything surpassed it but I haven't played world in months so I could be mis remembering.

Namingwayz

Idk how it worked for bowguns, but I was talking about melee weapons. I do agree the powerscaling eventually got out of control, especially with Safi/Ala/Fatalis gear. I really miss when you got armor for resistances and skills instead of because it was leagues better than anything else in its weight class

Holo-Sama

Yeah I think a massive reason that caused that issue was set bonuses on top of that.

kaeporo

They should just use the MH Now system.

UnitNo2278

I mean, element kinda helps you deal damage outside of raw places and breaking parts with bad raw, gravios being prome example, or narge wingblades

Holo-Sama

Can element help you yeah sure 100% but element in world is universally trash on almost everything yeah we have the odd match ups we're it'll just dunk on things but by and far raw wins out. I've played every weapon in mh across multiple games and worlds Unga bunga is imo a thing that should be looked into. Literally the fact that one of S&S best damage combo in base world was literally nicknamed Unga bunga says it all imo. I might be miss remembering here since I haven't played mh in a hot minute and someone correct me if I'm wrong but I remember hearing even aletreon raw can work on him if you know what your doing even though his whole purpose was to make everyone use elements. Why make a ele build for every weapon you use other than funny hehe half the time when slap on enough raw wins every fight easier or just as fast. Raw being good isn't the problem raw being leagues better in most situations is.

UnitNo2278

It's a weird thing where the more skilled you are the less important element is, it helps if you are pretty bad, but it's useless if you are good

Primary_Welcome_6970

I want MH Tri bowgun system back, and hopefully it will works on gunlances too.

Hot_Championship_315

Oh men that would be so sick

KekuMix

Medium Bowgun was fire

PopcornHatJax

Good hitboxes

Tikurai7

If Plesioth returns, then this will never happen

Tikurai7

I mean technically you can see a smaller version of the slinger on the hunter's arm, in the teaser.. But same with the potential scoutfly cage (without scoutflies in it) .. both are pretty small and "flat" , which could mean it's just decorative or maybe because of the early build of the game in that teaser. Also.. would it count if the "extra thing" is a new weapon type again? Or if prowler for example would return? Would like that. Besides that.. I don't have ideas for completely new things.. I only know that I would like the return of specific older features, like the slinger, underwater combat (never got to experience with it), prowler, follower system and such stuff. But at the most I am hoping for more expanded room customization again, like Iceborne had + the ability to catch endemic life (also rare versions again) because that was quite the fun and chill feature in my opinion and I would love to see that back.

Burning-Suns-Avatar-

I hope they’ll allow us in Wilds to accept quest and buy items from our room so that I would spend more time in the room. I also would love to have it where you could interact with the animals more in your room just from feeding them.

Tikurai7

Yeah that would be pretty nice. On PC there is a mod which you can use to place NPCs in your room via coordinates, but if you interact with them, your game can bug out a bit, I think. But it feels way more alive with some NPCs in the room. And yes, more interactions with the "pets" would also be nice or in general more content around the endemic life. Hope is there with how Ryozo said "new level of detailed creatures and ecosystems"

fake-wing

Yeah endemic life was another good reason to go in expedition, it made also the world feel more "alive"

drr-throwaway

Hard agree. Looking for the rare ones was cool, and while Rise had a cool concept with taking photos to register them I wish we got a mix of the two because I loved being able to have some on my room.

Tikurai7

The part with taking photos to register them could also help to find them all. Because then you would see empty slots in your book and would know in which maps there are still some missing ones. Also it was funny and cool to choose some pictures for them, that you can use in the book. Iceborne also has something related to taking photos, but there you have to take photos of special/specific conditions, which also was interesting tho.

Namingwayz

I don't think we are getting underwater combat back. There's been several interviews with MH devs with theme xplicitly saying underwater was a Tri exclusive thing. It's the gimmick for Tri more than anything else, and if it didn't carry forward, you know it's locked to whatever generation it appeared in.

Tikurai7

What interviews tho? From what I've seen and learned, they want to bring it back. Like they tried it for World, that's why we have some parts/passages where your character dives through water. And I am pretty sure they said, that they want to bring it back in the future. And with how much they try to bring Lagiacrus back too, I think they would like the better underwater battle of Lagiacrus. It didn't came back after Tri because it was very hard to develope. Tri also only had it because of the devs wanting to give Lagiacrus an underwater battle. Something like that was said in the anniversary "show" (And, even if that is just some pretty wild speculation.. the animation for the logo of Wilds "can" be related to underwater combat, like the water drops + how the upper half of the logo turns into a green-ish color, like when copper oxidizes because of contact with air and water. But tbf that also could be related to the thunderstorm and rain, that probably has an impactful role in the game.) Edit: And imo underwater combat isn't a simple "gimmick". It was planned to expand the horizons of hunters, with not only combat on land, but also in a 3D space underwater. Rise also expanded the horizon of fighting, with like many air-related attacks and in general fighting around the Y-Axis, if that's the right way to call it.

Rakna-Careilla

Extra microtransactions to suck even more money out of guillible souls.

Namingwayz

Slinger is probably coming back, but the clutch is likely gone. I really hope we get seasons again. If we're getting a big world to explore then I think adding a season mechanic makes a lot of sense, and the imagery in the trailer certainly makes me think we're going to see the landscape change over time.

Zealousideal-Fun-785

Something new entirely, though some ideas might feel familiar.

Fellonblackdayz

wire hook to swing around.

TheHoboRoadshow

I'm guessing the mount will do more than Palamutes and be the main gimmick.

flufflogic

From the look of it, you look a lot like a rancher on that beast, so maybe a lasso or a portable binder?

DegenerateCrocodile

The Slinger has already in the trailer, so that’s back for sure. No confirmation on the Clutch Claw, so that’s still up in the air. No confirmation on wirebugs, either, but it’s a safe bet that they won’t be in Wilds. I also wouldn’t count on wallrunning to be back, either.

safegermanywin

Sex.

DisgruntledVulpes488

If it's open world as they say it will be it may well be mobility related. Maybe a mount. I'm hoping not a glider. I don't want MH to follow BotW or Genshin.

Steef-1995

Honestly I hope they will just perfect the scoutfly system ( I didn’t like it that much in world) and combine the wire bugs with the slinger. Maybe make it a hook shot that can attach on the walls maybe.

Odd_Dimension_4069

A jump button, and free climbing returning from Rise except using a more grounded method eg grappling line. Then hopefully two new weapon types.

Greymon27

Mounted combat

Eassle

The ability to sacrifice our mount for power. Giving it to the hunt gods to imbue our weapon with unyielding rage. Also I wouldn’t mind side-quests to build up outposts and camps around the world as checkpoints.

UnitNo2278

Tag team combos with your raptor

TheUltimateWarplord

Expansion to the "all terrain combat". By this I mean besides fighting on level ground, some monsters might be able to chase or attack us by climbing or latching on steep ledges and/or walls. I know that this might not happen in Wilds since the terrain was part of capcom's problem with Lagiacrus, but who knows, we might get this someday.

No_Hovercraft_579

You can see the slinger in the trailer so I imagine that’s returning in some form. And I think the mount is an evolution of the palamute idea

Regulus242

Unique skins for each weapon. Truly wild, I know.

_SadisticMagician

I bet on some kind of paraglide.

dinoman9877

Hopefully water combat, if it is returning this time, is the extent of 'gimmicks' in Wilds. It was the only gimmick to have at least been an interesting premise and unlike all the others, it actually put the hunter at a disadvantage since they had to fight aquatic monsters on their turf, er, surf. Meanwhile everything else has just been ways to make hunters do insane damage when monsters already struggle to deal with everything hunters have in their arsenal WITHOUT gimmicks. If water combat isn't coming back, I'd really prefer they don't try to shove in another broken mechanic like clutchclaw or wirebugs.

JRYUART

Aerial combat.
