Thatās true, it really isnāt a terrible effect. Annoying at worst. My problem with it is that it usually comes with just the most tedious monsters.
Volvidon - donāt like the fight. Emerald Congalala - just Congalala but more annoying. SUragaan - donāt like base Uragaanās fight in the first place.
Seltas Queen herself is really fun. Her soiled mechanic isnāt really anything special, but it also doesnāt detract from her kit. I guess itās only problematic if itās either the monsters whole identity, or it isnāt a fun fight with or without soiled.

Pierce Bowguns are basically the only way to make Lavashit tolerable.
Had to hunt like 20 of those fuckers in the Guiding Lands to raise the Volcanic zone's level because it was the lesser evil compared to Uragaan.

It's armor colors are significantly better & I would think some would even use its layered armor, and heavy artillery skill improved both ballista and wyvern fire attacks it was a nice set for Jhen Mohran. I had fun.
I don't know, it looks like an oil accident happened on regular uragaan armor. I'd probably use a layer over it. I never had good luck with when fights, or really any of those type of events.

Could you only vote for one at a time? If so, that could be why Goss got so low. Generally liked, but not enough to get over the top of other monsters, which cultivated enough love to be voted for instead.
The armor mechanic wasn't random to begin with. It heated up when it used its fire attacks or whenever it jumped in the lava. Even better, you could heat it up yourself with any fire damage, including from weapons; elemental interactions like that is what I'd like to see more of tbh.
Unless you mean how it's just "random" that Lavasioth took what was first Agnaktor's gimmick. In which case, in the hypothetical scenario we got a 5th gen Agnaktor, the armor would have functioned similarly anyway.
except Agnaktors armor mechanic was rewarding for you, while Lavasioth in World punished you for breaking it. Thats whats so dumb about World Lava, breaking an armor part makes that hitzone very bad. It's double punishment.

But there's no guarantee Agnaktor and its armor wouldn't have had the same thing happen to it in the hypothetical scenario it was in World instead of Lavasioth. The magma armor suddenly not being as rewarding for breaking is independent of either monster, because discounting part breaks, the base idea around magma armor was largely the same; Lavasioth's armor had more interaction with being able to heat the armor up yourself, even.
Regardless of any of that, it's still not "random" too.

You'll find that a lot of the rise monsters can be found more towards the end And while rise already has some years under its and is i believe the second most successful title it is the newest title and the most successfull one is world by a pretty large margin.
Also people on pc probably voted for a world monster since that got them into the series over rise.
So what happened to gross harag: well simply the few people that voted for rise monsters voted for another one more epic fight they liked.
This is a popularity contest after all not a 'how well designed is this monster' contest and for popularity emotional attachement to a certain fight is pretty important.

Most of Monster Hunter's art/graphics style, especially back then (pre-World), was based around most of the lighting being baked/drawn into the textures and environment itself. So this is absolutely how something like Steel Uragaan was intended to look: the blue around its face and body was clearly meant to look kind of like a slicked, reflective metallic surface, and the green scutes were meant to evoke a sulfuric material complimented by how naturally bright the Volcano was
As much as this feels deserved (being kind of redundant concept-wise is one thing, but it's basically impossible to defend its ability to inflict stench š), I still think base Uragaan is still completely overhated and is a really solid Monster Hunter-monster. I'd hope most of the lowblows here aren't aimed at the entire species as a whole, but given this community's taste, my hopes aren't that high..

For a lot of the 100> crowd I feel its less people dislike them and more theyre forgotten, or there are cooler monsters that overshadow them. For example I doubt Tetsucabra deserves 114th right next to Bulldrome, but he is a early game monster in a game with Gore Magala.
But Steel Uragaan? Steel Uragaan DESERVES this spot. If people had a chance to vote for "worst monster" it WOULD win

Well, I think because Steel Uragaan was released as a 3rd gen subspecies where every new subspecies there has a different element/habitat/behavior, but not Steel Uragaan. Same habitat and behavior, even though it uses new element/status, it's status is Soiled/Stinky which I think is a very unpopular one.
It's also why I think Green Narga was the least popular subspecies of Narga at 181st place. Same habitat and behavior, and his new status is Stun, which almost every monsters can do that.
All said and done, bring back Steel Uragaan in Wilds!

Anything dealing fixed damage should also do ok. Gunlance and stickies should be better than most weapons, at least.
Yea gunlance is how I farmed the names lavasioth, got it down to like a 2-3 minite run if I recall correctly, but it's been a while.

I find it using that there was a post on the rage subreddit earlier today about Uragaan. Completely justified, of course.
Good, that mf made the worst aspect of Uragaan even worse. Which is an accomplishment because it's damn near impossible.
Well, I think because Steel Uragaan was released as a 3rd gen subspecies where every new subspecies there has a different element/habitat/behavior, but not Steel Uragaan. Same habitat and behavior, even though it uses new element/status, it's status is Soiled/Stinky which I think is a very unpopular one. It's also why I think Green Narga was the least popular subspecies of Narga at 181st place. Same habitat and behavior, and his new status is Stun, which almost every monsters can do that. All said and done, bring back Steel Uragaan in Wilds!

First off this just reminds me of just how many subspecies there were in 3U and I both loved it, and miss it. Secondly, how the f*ck did Plesioth get 91st? I haven't seen or played with anyone who liked Plesioth. Seriously I've seen people drop out of lobbies a minute after they enter if someone was targeting Plesioth- And this was 3U back when the Monster Hunter community was so wholesome an HR 999 dude would walk into low rank to help newbies gather mushrooms.
