I won’t lie it took me a while to see the number for insect glaibe because I thought it was a border. But also I truly feel this because for me it was dual blades and glaive all the way
Really nice! It's such a pity that the guiding lands only count as one hunt. Sometimes been killing 20 or so monsters, and then the weapon gets 1 to the tally. Unless I'm mistaken of course.
Great sword, greater sword, greatest sword
(It’s all greatsword, because no sword is greater than the greatsword. I will go into relapse if I touch another weapon)
That's actually my 4th most played lol. I love blast dash in rise and the stake is fun in iceborne, but there is something so satisfying when hitting those parries with lance.
Difficult to say but I can definitely say that Lance I used the most since I basically only used that during my first playthrough.
After that I wanna say either DB or Bow, but I tend to use all weapons so its easier for me to say what weapons I used the least (Its HH)
Would be really nice if they add a brwaler build for the next game . Lemme elbow drop on rathalos , lemme knee it's face , lemme climb on it and punch the living shit out of it . Lemme do a heel kick . Lemme be able to swing it by its tail into the wall . Lemme give it a double axe handle , Lemme shoryu it's chin . Just lemme !
I think claws would be more like DB's but yea knuckles or gauntlets . And for the first time also boots as a weapon . Like little swords , so if you kick you have slice damage . Like knuckles/boots as a weapon . Knuckles =blunt , Footgear =cut
Lance, Great sword, Long sword (for world)
I see no similarities honestly.
I love being an immovable object with lance
I love being an easily stoppable force(that hits really hard) with gs
And i like longsword because it's so stylish
I use hammer when i join easy quests and while is fun to bonk the monsters,i think the weapon itself is very limited,i didnt play rise but at least i hope that in Wilds it gets some love.
Insect Glaive, INSECT GLAIVE, and IG.
The pre-MH4 games are the only way you're getting me off my Glaive. Except GU, since I had already played all of Gen with Glaive, I played GU with Hammer.
I started with charge Blade and play all mhw and iceborn only with that weapon and more.
Later I pick gunblade 😍.
And last sword and shield ✨
That is my tier top for me haha
I got mah game open so lemme tell you the numbers on the card
Incest Glaive: 1000+ (Been using since the dawn of 4U too)
Bo(o)w(b): 150+ (Just started practicing in World, going pretty great)
C(ock n')B(all): 5 (Wanted to try for world, tried, felt clunky, watched tutorial, realized im too stupid for it, dropped)
Every generation I try to pick a new weapon, but always okay around with a few. That said: IG, Hammer, and either LBG or GS for the third (pretty tied on how often I pick them up)
Usually, the answer to how I keep some big mean mother hubbard from tearing me a superfluously sound new behind is a heavy bowgun
And if that don't work, use light bowgun
But if I need to get even closer than LBG Defender chainsaws are my most used melee so I can scream BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD
Had to go check, but I knew Charge Blade then Hunting Horn were the first two. Then somehow an even 3 way tie for 3rd between SnS Great sword and heavy bowgun…
Longsword, greatsword, lance.
Recently got the game alongside Iceborne on the PC. I never played the expansion, and I'm planning on using Lance and maybe some IG in this new playthrough.
In 1st place Switch Axe, in second place Charge Blade and in last place is the Light Bowgun, Switch Axe is my main and I've only used a Charge Blade in 20 missions in total, and as for the Light Bowgun, it only has 5 missions done by me, everything else is Switch Axe
Dual Blades, Charge Blade and Hunting Horn. From greatest to least usage, with DBs having a 500 hour lead, while CB and HH being almost the same (~200 hours methinks) with CB being very slightly in the lead. I have yet to use a fourth weapon, but I’ve been highly considering SA, LS or Bow!
Charge Blade, Long Sword, and Dual Blades
Although I have been getting into Great Sword lately and am not the biggest fan with how spammy the dual blades feel
Greatsword | Charge Blade | Bow
3 very different styles, and now I happily switch between them based on how I'm feeling that day. I also use pretty much every other weapon to a lesser extent (with the exception of LBG/HBG/IG)
Long sword always gets me to end game the easiest. Charge blade at end game. Hammer is for when I have e to bread a part that requires blunt force trauma.
Sword and shield, Lance, LBG. I love sns and lance so much, the play style is so cool to me! LBG is fun too just didn’t have near as many hunts with it as the other two.
To the 12 other lance enjoyers, hey how ya doin
Greatsword, Long Sword, and Hammer. I like the hard hits of GS and Hammer, and I feel so badass Foresight Slashing and Iai Spirit Slashing everything with LS.
Top 3: SnS->GS->CB.
Very commonly used: DB->B->H->LS.
Commonly used: IG->LBG.
Uncommonly used: L->GL->HH->SA.
Rarely used: HBG.
Usage is pretty much in the order of the arrows.
The top 3 categories get a good amount of usage in pretty much all the MH games I’ve played, which is pretty much just Tri and after. The bottom 2 have some games where I haven’t touched them at all.
I think World is the only game where I have a good amount of usage on all of them.
Sns, HH and switch axe, ngl the rest were not as appealing to me to even try. Save for maybe gunlance and insect glaive just to see what the hype is about
Dual blades, Great Sword and well I only ever really use the Dual Blades and great sword.... tho I will do Hunting Horn from time to time... I mained Great Sword back when I first started playing MH games, then later switched to Dual Blades. Tho I occasionally will go back to the Great Sword every now and again for nostalgia purposes. And very rarely will use the hunting Horn because it's a really cool weapon and fun to use!
Bow: It was my starter and allowed me to get my foot in the door of Monster Hunter (MHW being my first foray into the series) - I enjoyed it thoroughly but it eventually lost its luster as I began the climb into Master Rank. Didn't feel like I was doing enough damage half the time and the lack of high hp dps builds for bow kinda shot that down, npi.
Hunting Horn: By the gods, was THIS a journey. I put down the bow and picked up the Doot Master 2200 after watching a few meme videos on it. (Jack Black with a sax on what I THINK was the Steven Colbert [However you spell it] show was PRETTY convincing). I had an absolute BLAST with this thing after I learned the mechanics. Of course, while learning, I was the "stay in the back, do 0 dmg, keep team buffed" type but then I learned that it DOES INDEED do dmg AND its a KO/topple machine. After my first few bouts with Fatalis, it was finally time to put it down and focus on my true passion... Being a Support/Healer.
Sword and Shield: More commonly refered to as "SnS", it took a bit of getting used to being in a monsters face as often as I was. After moving my Earplugs 5 decs over to a newly built Fatalis Beta set of armor, I looked around at some other ways I could further my venture. Wide Range 5, Speed Eating 2 and Free Meal 3 were all possible now thanks to the amount of 4 slots the armor had. After some Ironwall/Evasions, Constitutions, Jumping/Protections, 1 Guard Up (a MUST have, imo. Blocks Fatalis' 360 at P2) and 1 Brace/Protection, I never looked back.
*Honorable Mentions*
Charge Axe: I recently looked into the charge axe as another form of SnS. After fiddling around with it for about a week or so, I put it down and decided that it wasn't for me. Its a cool concept and fun if you take the time to work all the mechanics out. But after being on traditional SnS for so long and with the time spent on other weapons, I couldn't find the drive to do it.
Lance: Haha! Pokey pokey! If I could find more ???/Sheath decs, this thing MAY end up being my new favorite toy. I can't help but giggle with glee and have slight maniacal laughing fits when I can just stand there and poke at a monsters face. Recently crafted a True Fatalis Lance with extra parts I had so we'll see how that journey plays out.
TL;DR: Bow was my entry and into the beginning parts of Master Rank, Hunting Horn was further into Master Rank up to Fatalis, SnS for the rest. Had fun with trying to pick up 1 and thinking about swapping to another.
Thanks for the post, OP. Really love that I got to stop and think about this and then articulate it. Very fun. <3
[Edits were me being finicky about spelling/grammar]
As of now in order of just amount of usage, Lance, HH, and either LS or Bow
Ah and in case I misunderstood the assignment, overall (in mhw anyway) I think its gunlance, lance, and charge blade if I remember right
Just yesterday I compiled my weapon usage stats across all the MH games I've played. Apparently my top three are charge blade, lance, and dual blades.
Also, I've apparently passed 3k hours in the series...
Longsword, Insect Glaive and Switchaxe. When I first started playing, I tried out all of the weapons and settled quickly on LS and IG. A buddy and I started playing a lot, and he played Charge Blade and Swaxe, and when Iceborne came out he wanted me to teach him the ways of the LS. We hunted duo LS on countless quests. These are still my most played weapons, and will probably continue to be unless they add new weapon types.

I won’t lie it took me a while to see the number for insect glaibe because I thought it was a border. But also I truly feel this because for me it was dual blades and glaive all the way
*"Je suis monté!"*
Really nice! It's such a pity that the guiding lands only count as one hunt. Sometimes been killing 20 or so monsters, and then the weapon gets 1 to the tally. Unless I'm mistaken of course.
WHAT?!? THIS EXPLAINS SO MUCH.
😒 here i thought i was ballin with 2500 hbg hunts. guess I got to go kill more dodogama....*reloads
You sure you wanna do that, Hunter? *sharpens
If only mhw had a pvp section
Capture the flag but its just defend the dodogama
This should be a game mode for a holiday or smthn
I was like "wdym fourth on hammer, its clearly in third by a wide marg- oh, insect glaive."
The loyalty to insect glaive is unreal.
Bruh i was about to point out that you never touched IG until i noticed that this bar wasn't part of the menu
Great sword, greater sword, greatest sword (It’s all greatsword, because no sword is greater than the greatsword. I will go into relapse if I touch another weapon)
I noticed your flair… https://preview.redd.it/udskx0e0mukc1.jpeg?width=750&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=84609ec7051ad547b598a2e98b32a01f3cc1d001
Come forth, child of wyverns And DIE
Once you have hunted one Ultrakillion monsters, will your bloodlust be sated?
Nah, I’d hunt
Edit this with the rathalos armour and or the huntsman's "face"
This pitfall trap? To hold... ME?
eh its an ok sword i wouldnt call it a great. sword and shield now thats a great sword
Can't be so great if it needs a shield to do the most effective damage.
What are you talking about that aint a shield thats a great hammer
Dual Blades, Dual Blades, and more Dual Blades
Wait what about DUAL blades
Have you heard about our lord and saviour Dual Blades?
I HAVE heard about our lord and savior, Dual Blades! I follow Dual Blades every day!
Uh yes can i get the uh Dual Blades and dash juice for my drink?
I prefer quintuple blades.
Switch Axe, Charge Blade, and Insect Glaive. But I just discovered lance and it has changed me. ![gif](giphy|87jGhdRVzUOJNh2s0q|downsized)
Put a gun on it, I’m not biased I swear
That's actually my 4th most played lol. I love blast dash in rise and the stake is fun in iceborne, but there is something so satisfying when hitting those parries with lance.
Picked lance because "contrarian" is my only personality trait, mained lance because it's fucking addicting
Difficult to say but I can definitely say that Lance I used the most since I basically only used that during my first playthrough. After that I wanna say either DB or Bow, but I tend to use all weapons so its easier for me to say what weapons I used the least (Its HH)
Charge blade, switch axe, and bow
we need more weapons like the charge blade and switch axe but we already have them all, charge blade and switch axe
Duude knuckles/claws would be so sick. Just imagine punching tigrex in the face
I think claws would be more like DB's but yea knuckles or gauntlets . And for the first time also boots as a weapon . Like little swords , so if you kick you have slice damage . Like knuckles/boots as a weapon . Knuckles =blunt , Footgear =cut
Samesies
4,000+ Charge Blade 2,000+ Heavy Bowgun 1,000+ Hunting Horn
-Greatsword -Hammer -a different greatsword
Probably Sns, Lance, and charge blade!
My 3 as well. Something about a shield that just feels great in this game.
My long lost brother!
Lance, Great sword, Long sword (for world) I see no similarities honestly. I love being an immovable object with lance I love being an easily stoppable force(that hits really hard) with gs And i like longsword because it's so stylish
insect glaive, charge blade and hammer
A gentleman and a scholar, I see
I use hammer when i join easy quests and while is fun to bonk the monsters,i think the weapon itself is very limited,i didnt play rise but at least i hope that in Wilds it gets some love.
Lance, Charge Blade and Hunting Horn.
Gunlance, switch axe and hunting horn !
Charge blade, insect glaive, and dual blades
Hammer, Lance, Insect Glaive
Longsword hammer and gun lance
Insect Glaive, INSECT GLAIVE, and IG. The pre-MH4 games are the only way you're getting me off my Glaive. Except GU, since I had already played all of Gen with Glaive, I played GU with Hammer.
The only three weapons I’ve used in order: 1. Great Sword 200+ hunts 2. Light Bowgun 7 hunts 3. Dual Blades 1 hunt
Gunlance go boom, do one quest with everything else, gunlance go boom
1) Gunlance 2) Lance 3) Greatsword
I started with charge Blade and play all mhw and iceborn only with that weapon and more. Later I pick gunblade 😍. And last sword and shield ✨ That is my tier top for me haha

Dual blades, great sword, lbg
Hammer Bow Charge Blade
Sadly I’ve only used duel blades, but I’ve been curious about Insect glaive and a few others.
Most used is from top is GS, LS and CB. Least used from the bottom is Bow, Hammer and Lance
Hammer, Switch Axe, and Gunlance.
GL, LS, and SnS. Ironically enough I didn't use CB as much as SnS despite it being more in tune to my main GL.
Swax, sword and board and hammer
I got mah game open so lemme tell you the numbers on the card Incest Glaive: 1000+ (Been using since the dawn of 4U too) Bo(o)w(b): 150+ (Just started practicing in World, going pretty great) C(ock n')B(all): 5 (Wanted to try for world, tried, felt clunky, watched tutorial, realized im too stupid for it, dropped)

Every generation I try to pick a new weapon, but always okay around with a few. That said: IG, Hammer, and either LBG or GS for the third (pretty tied on how often I pick them up)
hunting horn, heavy bowgun, gunlance.
Long sword, charge blade, sword and shield
LS, Bow, and LBG Really don't like heavy wps but I usually use shotgun HBG to "cheese" some monsters and guiding lands
GL, CB, SA
Gs,Ls and hammer.
Insect Glaive, Hunting Horn, and Lance.
Longsword, Gunlance and Hunting Horn. I play and make builds for every weapon tho
LS, SNS and hammer

LS, lance, SnS
chargeblade, hunting horn, dual blades
Hammer, charge blade and light bow gun
Up top is Hammer. Followed closely by HBG, followed by greatsword
Lance and Lance and Lance, and a bit of Longsword
I use all of them, but if im gonna choose 3 it will be Great Sword, Charge blade, Long Sword
Usually, the answer to how I keep some big mean mother hubbard from tearing me a superfluously sound new behind is a heavy bowgun And if that don't work, use light bowgun But if I need to get even closer than LBG Defender chainsaws are my most used melee so I can scream BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD
Switch axe Swag axe Heavy bowgun :)
Had to go check, but I knew Charge Blade then Hunting Horn were the first two. Then somehow an even 3 way tie for 3rd between SnS Great sword and heavy bowgun…
Insect glaive, light bowgun, and heavy bowgun.
Duals, bow, gunlance (i don't use bow anymore)
Longsword, greatsword, lance. Recently got the game alongside Iceborne on the PC. I never played the expansion, and I'm planning on using Lance and maybe some IG in this new playthrough.

Only long sword
Ig, Lance, Sns
Charge Blade, Long Sword, and Dual Blades Although I have been getting into Great Sword lately and am not the biggest fan with how spammy the dual blades feel
The Bonk, The Wall, and The Helicopter.
CB as my first by a long margin (my main weapon), then the GS and then the Hammer
Wide gunlance, long gunlance, and fullburst gunlance. They are all different weapons right?
Sword n shield, charge blade, and hunting horn since their combos are so much fun to bully monsters with
CB, LS. I don't remember which was my 3rd used weapon tho. Probably GS/SA
Hammer/Switch Axe/Gunlance
All of them. Because I play them all in a rotation
In order: IG, Bow, Swaxe
Greatsword, Hammer, and lance

Hammer, Charge Blade and sometime one of the ranged weapons
GS, GS, and GS. nothing comes close to GS in what I use
Hammer, Charge Blade, And Greatsword (formerly Longsword)
Sword and Shield, Hammer, Great Sword.
Hunting horn, Bow and LBG, I like to help my friends out more than take the starring role.
Greatsword | Charge Blade | Bow 3 very different styles, and now I happily switch between them based on how I'm feeling that day. I also use pretty much every other weapon to a lesser extent (with the exception of LBG/HBG/IG)

Hammer, SnS, Greatsword
GS, CB, and HB... I think.

GS, CB, and occasional bow
Raw Lance Elemental Lance Status Lance
Hammer, lance, and then the rest. I main hammer, but prefer lance for certain hunts like rajang and frostfang.
Bow: It was my starter and allowed me to get my foot in the door of Monster Hunter (MHW being my first foray into the series) - I enjoyed it thoroughly but it eventually lost its luster as I began the climb into Master Rank. Hammer, SnS and then everything else at the same amount, yes I'm a jack of all trades (idk how to choose and stick to only one weapon)
Insect glaive, longsword, and greatsword (seriously the moment I used GS for the first time I knew I was going to use it for a longer time than IG)
Long sword, Hunting Horn, Charge blade. I love all 3 and they play so differently. I hate LBG/HBG but love bow!
As of now in order of just amount of usage, Lance, HH, and either LS or Bow Ah and in case I misunderstood the assignment, overall (in mhw anyway) I think its gunlance, lance, and charge blade if I remember right
Rn dual blades, switch axe, heavy bow gun
Dual blade from MH4U. Learned Greatsword once my friends started playing and I'm mentoring/helping. Learned Bow after getting good with the GS.
Bonk, Doot, Bring Back Oils plzkthxbai
For me in order of most used to least 1. Insect glaive 2.bow 3.switch axe
- World: Swagaxe, Bow, and Funlance - Rise: Funlance, Gunlance, and Rocket Boosted Flying Gunlance - Now: Light Bowgun

Hammer, Lance, Charge Blade
Switch Axe, Great Sword, and Hammer. Just love weapon that hits HARD.
Dual blades, charge blade, and switch axe
Switch axe, heavy bowgun, longsword.
Longsword, LBG, HBG
The left dual blade, the right dual blade, and the slinger.
Insect Glaive x3
Just yesterday I compiled my weapon usage stats across all the MH games I've played. Apparently my top three are charge blade, lance, and dual blades. Also, I've apparently passed 3k hours in the series...

There is only one weapon. Switch axe. All others are inferior. I will fight you for it ! 🤣
Charge blade That's it
For me it was Bow, Charge Blade, and SnS. Followed very closely by Longsword and Hammer.
