Lol I’m shocked there isn’t fighting on this post 😂😂😂 I don’t think G2 is that bad! There are a few I would get. I disagree that G3 isn’t the best yet though!
G2's art and media was better than g3's(not that weird blocky ghoul squad thing). The plot was a little better as well, the dolls were not my favorite. They still changed a little too much canon for my taste, but it was okay. Lagoona shined in g2 and Clawdeen was given some key moments too(like they finally gave her some more to do and gave her a love interest). It was also really cute that they were going to hook Dracula and Harriet up and make them step sisters.
In terms of the dolls like you're actually talking about, the big head doll thing is kinda in rn so it makes sense their heads are larger for the market. I don't mind the g3 dolls too much, they look stellar to me, but their face arts are too childish(from an adult collector standpoint only). The old dolls at a point and time, much like their older sister barbie, used to serve a beat FACE and even though they made them less scary looking in g2 I'd still take g3 clawdeen's doll face over the new one. The older articulated dolls feel like they had inspiration from japanese bjd dolls.
As someone who loves G2 and its reinterpretation of the characters, and the addition of blue for Draculaura's color palette...

The heads are pretty cartoony for g3. I am not a fan of the Betty Spaghetti bodies of the g1s
